What a great find Rod and Rail was! The bar of Rod and Rail offers an eclectic mix of cocktails, local brews, and even some great non-alcoholic options. The food menu was also interesting, diverse, and bar food-themed. Check out my picture of this for reference. My party ordered the hot noodle special, the falafel smash, and the burger. All were tasty and on point. The service we received on our visit was exceptional. There was ample seating in both the bar and the restaurant area. I would come back to Road and Rail any time.

Service was wonderful. Got seated in second room. Was greeted by nice waitress. Food was excellent. It quickly filled up with local people.

Not only is the setting home-y, but the staff is all very kind and quick to greet guests. The good old home feel doesn't stop with the setting or service, but it carries through to the food as well. The food comes out looking like a true, delicious, home-cooked meal with the flavor to back it up! For an appetizer I ordered the Charlie's Chowder, which is the best chowder I've ever had, in New England or otherwise. It comes packed with scallops, lobster, and cod, and is absolutely to die for. For my main course, I ordered the Lemon Caper Cod, which was also wonderful. The piece of cod is huge, and is served with a bed of rice, seasonal veggies (mine were carrots) and, of course, capers. The fish was tender and cooked to perfection and, while I'm not typically a huge carrot fan, the steamed carrots they made were sweet and tasty! If I knew how they make them I'd become a much bigger fan of carrots. From start to finish, everything about this place is top notch! A definite must try!

I wasn't starving, so I ordered what SEEMED to be lighter; Sea and Sand, which consists of a stuffed quahog and a cup of Charlie's Chowder. Just a quahog and a cup of chowder! You will NEVER have chowder with more seafood in it! At least 4 scallops, a large lump of crab, some pieces of lobster, and a lotta fish. A bowl would be a meal.

NEW FAVORITE! We are in town for business every Sept/Oct for about 6 weeks. We have tried to visit…read morethis place many times before, but they always closed for the season. Now they are staying open later in the season and we are SOOOOO happy! This place ROCKS! Cute little place, love the outside deck, but let's get real, it's all about the food! We've been twice now. I got the small (yeah, right) lobster roll and clam chowder combo both times I came. FIrst, I don't know who can eat the Monsta one, not I. The "small" is bigger than anyone else's I've seen. If you look closely at the last pic I posted of the lobster roll, there is an ENTIRE lobster in there. There is a full, uncut lobster tail, and two full, uncut claws, and a ton of other meat around it. Full lobster kids. The grill on the bun is perfect. While the bun is hot, the lobster itself is served cold and undressed, but with warm drawn butter on the side. MMmmmmmmmm. It's my fav lobster roll hands down. Both times I've had a few of the raw littlenecks. So good. Also last time, the BF went with me and he had the Cuban sandwich, as he is not a fan of clams or lobster (I know, and I stay with him anyway). This Cubano was INSANE good! I had a couple bites. We both love a Cubano, and this is probably the best one either of us have ever had. Great bread, and it's HUGE! All in all, great place, great food, great vibe, friendly peeps. Can't wait til next September! Woohoo!

Well my husband did go ahead and eat it- but nothing to write home about. The fried food-fries & quahogs - never had a bad one at the Falmouth location. The Mai Tai was completely watered down, but talking amount of alcohol-I prefer a drink that isn't too heavy in booze, but the juice/mixer was like so filtered it wasn't even good. We were really looking forward to coming to his Onset location for lunch, been eating at Quahog Republic since Mashnee Island- I go back to the days of The Dr. Flynn Mai Tai- this meal and the drinks may fly for tourists, but this local is NOT COMING BACK. Addendum: because my husband sent his quahog back, because our quahogs were SUPER GREASY & I sent my chowder back to be warmed up (because it arrived tepid) - the waitress pro-actively took the Quahogs off the bill & my chowder. We didn't actually, "complain " about anything, just those 2 things-the rest we didn't say a thing, it wouldn't change a thing, if we had. We didn't go to the Quahog Republic for free food in a nice waterfront setting- we went there for the good food we have become accustomed to from The Quahog Republic & sadly the food & cocktails seem to have gone down hill. Looks like we will be sticking to the location in Falmouth- they haven't let is down, yet.
