    Carne Asada Skewers
    Annie D.

This place was pretty good but I do think there are other better Mexican restaurants in the cities. I think this is a great spot if you are wanting a bite to eat before bar hopping in West End, which is what we were doing. I ordered the Guavaijto (an NA drink) which was really good. For food I got carne asada skewers, which had good flavor but were a little chewy, and a cheese crisp, which was tasty and a lot bigger than I thought. Overall a good spot before a night out but expect to spend a pretty penny.

I recently had a great experience at Rojo with a group of 9! I'm not sure if I've ever been to this location before, but I had been to the old Southdale one many times before, and never been super impressed before this visit! One thing Rojo really gets right is large parties. I was so impressed how many larger groups they were handling at one time, and how seamless their space is set up for it. We celebrated a friend's birthday and it was a great atmosphere to talk and enjoy some drinks and food. I ordered the skinny marg as well as the corn chowder and small chopped salad. All were actually fantastic. I went in with low expectations and actually REALLY liked everything I got -- even though it was pretty simple, the flavors were fantastic. Temperature of food was perfect too. We all paid separately at that process was quite seamless as well. Thank you Rojo for a great experience -- I'll be back!

This wasn't our first option, but we stopped in here for brunch when a few other spots in westend had excessive wait times -- Our whole group was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was quiet, but we got our food relatively quickly. I enjoyed the breakfast tacos and the bacon was perfectly cooked!

    Carne asada fajitas were amazing.

I got the carne asada fajitas and they were some of the best I've ever had. Super tender grilled steak and all the fixings you'd need.

Decent sized margaritas that are strong, I really liked my shrimp tacos and the poblano queso, the fajitas came to our table sizzling hot. However, I did not like the sweet rice I got on the side. My husband said he's had similar rice when he was in Mexico and he liked it, but for me it was a first, personally I'm more used to savory rice. Ally was a wonderful server & the location wasn't too packed or loud so we enjoyed our night out. We parked in the free parking garage and walked about a block.

WORLDS BEST SALMON SALAD! I have been raving about Rojo's salmon salad for years, it is hands down my favorite meal of ALL TIME! The greens are always fresh well mixed and never wilty.. the tomato's are fresh and cut in a perfectly large slice, the Salmon melts in your mouth and is PERFECTLY seasoned and glazed! The AVOCADOS- omg they are literally buttery soft and delicious (I need to know where they source them from) and the Dressing... the Star of the Show- is delectable, the soy and sesame flavor is so unique and adds the perfect flavor tie the salmon, avocado, tomato and lettuce together for a perfect bite! The tortilla strips are a paid actor and I always ask for extra when I order bc I need one with every bite! Rojo is one of my favorite places to sit out on the patio in the summer, sip on a margarita with some chips and salsa and enjoy my Salad!

This is a great happy hour spot (if you can find a table in the bar area or on the patio). The food tastes great and the margaritas are even better! I will say, regular dinner prices are a bit steep so happy hour is for sure the best time to visit!

I do not know why this place is carrying such a low rating. My experience was the complete opposite. There is metered street parking available within a reasonable distance. There is also a Cub grocery store and a shopping plaza nearby that I saw people parking at, but I am not sure if that is allowed or how tightly it is enforced. The restaurant has a nice patio area that wraps around the building, along its sidewalk. They also have a decent sized dining area with booths, tables and chairs. This may be a Mexican restaurant, but it serves a variety of food including burgers, ribs and salads. Of course they have your Mexican favs too such as enchiladas, burritos, tortas, chimichangas, and tacos. We had a group of 5 and was seated right away in the dining room. I opted to go with the meat loaf and a Rojo sangria to wash it down. It took about 15 minutes to et our food. The meatloaf had a Mexican twist to it and was very tasty and packed with flavor. I really liked it. The meatloaf came with some of the best rice that I have ever had. It had a hint of flavorful sweetness and I could not get enough of it. I wanted to get a bowl to take home. I also like the sangria. It was filled with fruit, was fresh and very savory. Our server was attentive and friendly. If you are looking for some Tex-Mex, I recommend giving this place a look. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. My entire party had a great time and was glad that we decided to check this place out.

Rojo Mexican Grill *IS* a pretty fun, tasty, inexpensive spot for happy hour and a meal in the West End part of Saint Louis Park. Rojo *IS NOT,* however, anywhere near being an authentic Mexican restaurant. If you are looking for the former, you'll have a great time here. If you are looking for the latter, there are better choices in the area. We decided to have happy hour at Rojo before a movie. Service was great, we were seated promptly (although the host did seems bit put off that we wanted to sit in the shade instead of the sun), and our server was fairly attentive (although he did seem extremely busy). The food was also pretty good; again, this place is about as far from being "authentic" Mexican food as you can get, but for what it is, it's pretty good. We especially liked their dips/salsas: the "Trio" is a must order, and even the house salsa that comes with the chips is pretty good. Our plates were HUGE; we were expecting portions that were much smaller (especially at happy hour prices), so I'd recommend checking with your server if you don't want to end up with lots of leftovers. The drinks were pretty good, definitely strong enough, but also maybe a bit too sweet; we both got that headache you get when you have a super sugary cocktail, so keep that in mind before you order. All in all, this is a fairly solid happy hour spot in the "West End" area that's close to the movie theatre.

This is one of our go-tos for our girls happy hour get togethers! Conveniently located in the West End shopping center, you can park for free in any of the adjoining ramps. I recommend making reservations as it can get busy during happy hour. The free chips and salsa is a great touch! They have a nice ambiance with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. The vegetarian tacos are wonderful! Just warm, comforting and delicious! Its filling without feeling heavy. My friends' go-tos are the chicken tacos and queso dip. This isn't the place to go if you're looking for authentic Mexican restaurant cuisine or experience, but it's great for what it is: a casual fun and nice place to eat with good pricing!

I've come here for several happy hours and just ordered drinks without much of a problem but we came here for dinner the other day and it was pretty disappointing from start to finish. We were the very first table to be seated in the back section (like 10 tables) and we ended up getting our food last, even after asking the server twice where our food was, and all she had to say was "I don't know where your food is, that's weird". Some tables even ate and left before we got our food! It's great that you get free chips and salsa to start but half of the chips were crumbles and you couldn't even dip into the salsa. Then I got the chimichanga and it was much much smaller than expected. It was stuffed full of meat but, that's probably why it was small, but then I have to get some beans, get some rice, cut a chunk of the burrito and try to eat it all together. Just put it all in the burrito so I can eat it like a normal chimichanga. The saving grace is that the rice was delicious but I probably wouldn't order it again.

pleasantly surprised by my meal at rojo later last month! ordered the shrimp fajitas and they were actually fantastic? reviews here can vary and while the margarita lacked tequila and overpoured in terms of sugar, the meal was delicious! everything tasted fresh, there was tons of room to sit and it wasn't too loud for our small party of 3. service was speedy and all-in-all a great experience.

Relatively easy to find, though you do have to hunt a little bit, Flora Room sits behind a nondescript metal door leading down a short hallway to the entrance. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy.
