After a nice 'healthy' salad dinner at Urban Plates, my friends and I decided to go grab some dessert even though we were already so full. Yelped and saw this place was fairly new so decided to give it a shot. Parked about a block away and walked over to stray cat. We arrived around 930p.m and they close at 11 so it was great. It's a poke and ice cream store. Ice cream wise there's 3 fillings, 4 flavors, and 2 choices. You can have red bean, nutella or custard as your filling. You can have the flavor milk, matcha, rose berry or black seseme. Then you can choose to have it in a cup for 4.50$ or taiyaki(fish bun) for 6$. Of course to have it picture worthy I got the taiyaki with milk flavoring and nutella filling. You also get unlimited toppings so I put sprinkles and had a marshmallow on the side. The ice cream itself tasted great! Love milk flavored organic ice cream, but the taiyaki was cold and semi hard so it was pretty difficult to eat, but i guess that way the ice cream doesn't melt. Overall it was a good first experience. Customer service was great. They accept Samsung pay which was great. Prices aren't bad. Ice cream tasted good. Would be back! read more

I'll start by saying the fish quality has consistently been good here. The purple rice is delicious, and they have a nice variety of proteins, toppings, mix-ins and sauces. Their green and red sauce have a great taste. The place itself is consistently clean. They no longer have desserts so their name/signs can be kind of misleading. My issue here is with the service. It's really inconsistent. One girl who works there (short, pale, chubby Asian girl... I think I heard a coworker call her Felicity? Something that started with F) I saw sneezing onto her hands multiple times and then handling the food scoops. Unfortunately she was the one who did my bowl and unsurprisingly, I got sick three days later. I try to avoid the days she works there because I've noticed on various occasions I've gone there that she doesn't shut the lids on the rice, and the rice gets harder. It's also really dangerous to do that because bacteria grows quicker that way. Basic hygienic consideration/training is a low standard to hit and if one girl is doing that where customers can see, it makes me question the other workers and what's going on with the food. That and like I said, I don't like the rice in my pokebowls being that hard. I also hear comments from other customers about some of the workers. Several have told me that they think the short white girl who works there doesn't do as good a job on their bowls as some of the other workers. I haven't experienced this problem myself personally but I can't say I really care for her attitude all that much. Honestly depending on who you get determines how your bowl comes out. And also I notice sometimes some of the workers give attitude to some people, and not to others. Even if I'm being treated well (which, in this case, I wouldn't say I'm treated well, more like OK), it's a real turn off seeing how they treat people sometimes. They used to have yellowtail very consistently. Lately I notice that they run out easily or there's not very much yellowtail available so the scoops they give you of it are smaller. Edit: I'm only speaking for the pokebowls here. As for the other food I've tried... The udon is your typical fast food udon, nothing special or particularly good. The mochi ice cream is literally like, three pieces of mochi ice cream cut in half. You could buy a box of the same thing from the store. read more

I have to start with saying that I am NOT a raw fish person... (don't make fun of me) but this restaurant has converted me as far as actually be willing to try a poke restaurant. I know technically again my order isn't even real poke, but I still find it DELICIOUS. Instead of protein (which is the raw fish), they allow for me to double my step 2 sides, which is spicy crab and avocado. That leaves me with 2 crab scoops and 2 avocado scoops, which is the perfect amount in my opinion. There are a lot of toppings and sauces to choose from, but the ones that I get are just all so good once mixed together. IF YOU DONT LIKE RAW FISH but you do like crab meat/seaweed/avocado, come here!! A lot of other places charge extra for avocado, even if you don't get raw fish, but this one comes with it! And it's 2 big scoops! The environment of this restaurant is super cute, and I always enjoy having to walk through this little pedestrian only plaza place to get there. They also have icecream which I have tried (purple yam and matcha swirl) and that was delicious too. The workers here are super nice and friendly and are always willing to walk you through the process patiently, and especially for not verbally shunning me for my lack of raw fish, I have come back like 5 times already, and I'll just keep coming back. Went to watch Avenger's Infinity War with my friends at iPic and after we were totally super hangry from the movie, after our emotional distraught from the movie where all the character's that we loved died from Thanos. To relieve from all the pain from losing Spider man and Black Panther was stumbling upon a poke place that just so happen to be right in front of the iPic entrance. We saw a sign that said Buy 1 Get 1 Free, which was super misleading and should really be redone so that people don't think it means buy 1 poke bowl and get one poke bowl for free. I bet so many people get bamboozled from this sign, and I'm sure the employees always have to explain from the poorly done sign. It's just as bad as Tony Stark's plan to stop Thanos, and of course Starlord had a better plan. Anyway, we were told about this deal and it totally was not what we were expecting. You actually get 3 other free items that totally doesn't make it worth it, but we were already closed in on the plan to buy 2 poke bowl that it was already too late. It didn't feel good to be tricked like Doctor Strange with Thanos. He was the MVP. Totally made us double disstraught from our pain of seeing Doctor Strange go out into dust in the movie. Another thing about this place that made no sense is that the Yellowtail Poke had a price hike difference from all the other proteins. That threw us all off, just like how Drax, asked us "why is Gamora?" and of course Gamora dies and was totally getting us down in the dumps as Thanos dropped her. NO OTHER POKE PLACE PRICE HIKES YELLOWTAIL. WHYYYY? That was another bummer. How do you compete, with other places when you price hike this protein. We are told that the yellowtail is actually for the stray cats. That is to be confirmed though. The last thing that really gave us the dumps, was that the rice was purple? Why can't you have regular sushi rice. White rice? That gracious rice that everyone has. It reminded us of Thanos when he snapped his fingers and half of the avenger's wentKAPUT! We were all confused and down in the dumps about this. Just have white rice please! I'm sure Thanos can get us White rice as he rests in the Rice Paddies of the Philippine Islands in the end of the movie. Moral of the story is that Thanos got his rice, and we didn't. Will we return to this place, like they said "Thanos will return" in the end of the movie? That's to be determined. read more

This is my all time favorite poke spot and I've been coming here since around the first year they opened. I absolutely recommend trying their purple rice (if you love sushi rice you're going to love purple rice). I also recommend trying their black sauce if you like eel sauce on your sushi. They have a plethora of sauces and you can try them for free! So definitely ask the owner is super nice. I also always get a free iced green tea here with their check in. They have honey and sugar if you want it sweetened but they give it to you unsweetened (I appreciate being able to actually taste real tea). The portions here are also pretty big! This place gets a lot of competition from spin fish that's on the main strip but hands down this place is just so much better. read more

My favorite poke place in Pasadena for 3 reasons: 1) great fish quality, 2) good portion sizes, 3) good pricing. I've gotten poke from here a few times and the quality of the fish is always really tasty. They offer purple rice which is a nice variation from your typical white rice. And they have more side, toppings, and sauce variations than other spots. I'm always super satisfied with their smallest size (regular they call it). They have purple rice!! I was so shocked/excited to walk in and see purple rice as an option for a base- this is the only poke shop I have been to that has this as an option. The fish here is fresh, the service is great, and they have ample options for toppings and sauces. The restaurant is a little hidden, it is located in Old Town alley near the movie theater. There is some seating inside but you can also opt to seat outside in the courtyard. They also have dessert: ice cream and those fun little fish shaped cones which I have yet to try. Stumbled in to StrayCat Poke and Dessert when looking for our favorite go to gelato shop in Pasadena, Stick Station. We were surprised by the recent switch but quickly won over by the friendly new staff to try the soft serve ice creams: Rose berry, Milk, black sesame, and Matcha. Flavors while sounding simple belie the rich flavor of each ice cream. All of which can be served in either a cup or Taiyaki (Japanese style fish shaped waffle). The matcha was robust in green tea and not too sweet. Rose berry was light on the rose and berry refreshing. Milk was creamy and not too saccharin. There are unique ice teas on tap and a full array of poke for the poke bowl enthusiast. Looking forward to checking out the poke cuisine on our next visit. read more

You can start off with a salad base, rice, or purple rice. Then you get choices of fish, such as salmon and tuna, various toppings, and sauces. They also sell soft serve ice cream, and taiyaki here, which is a plus. Friendly service. Fresh food. Very clean. There are some chairs inside and outside, but the interior is small, so much of it will have to be to-go. We popped in to this poke shop during a day of shopping. It's small on the inside with limited seating, but a lunch to go wouldn't be a bad option. I opted for the small poke bowl, as serving sizes appeared to be rather generous based on the size of the bowl. With two scoops of protein for a small, I found that with toppings to be a very filling lunch. Sides include crab salad, which isn't always an option at all poke places. Protein options were varied, with the typical salmon and tuna options. The addition of cooked shrimp and albacore was a nice find. Overall the fish tasted fresh, the toppings were of good selection, and there were plenty of sauces. I appreciate that they toss the fish with your sauces as opposed to just drizzling on top.
