Rollin Fresh is one of our regular go-to spots. It's not upscale sushi by any means, but that's not what they're trying to be. The food is fast, fresh, flavorful, and incredibly customizable. One of my favorite things is how accommodating they are. Want a different sauce? No problem. Want to swap proteins in your burrito or bowl? They make it easy and often without nickel-and-diming you for every little change. The Pioneer Poppers with spicy mayo are my favorite car snack, and the City of Roses burrito is always a solid choice. The tempura-fried burritos are surprisingly good and hold up well on the drive home without getting soggy. My kids love the simple options too. An avocado burrito or shrimp tempura burrito is usually a hit. Overall, it's a great place when you want something quick and delicious that won't leave you feeling weighed down afterward. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to eat since there were so many options in Hawthorne Asylum, but Rollin' Fresh stood out to me. It was the only raw seafood truck on the premises and that sounded good at the time. However, the food was okay. I feel like my sushi burrito lacked flavor and the raw fish wasn't the freshest. I do like the prices of their menu items. it's not as expensive as other sushi burritos I've paid for in the past. Service wasn't bad. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my food. Pretty good poke place that shines more in the flavors than the fish. I got the showtime 1/2 & 1/2. Which means half rice and half salad. You also have the option of a sushi burrito or just rice or just salad. They're all the same price. The showtime comes with salmon, crab guac, pico de gallo and sauce. For being a fish place, they really skimped on the salmon. There were three slim slices. I guess for $11 I can't complain too much but it still seemed light. The other flavors were pretty good and everything tastes fresh. If you want something lighter I think it's a good option. Note that this is located in the Hawthorne food pod area. read more

Don't get me wrong. I love Rollin' Fresh. Have left a positive review. But I went one day to the Asylum Cart location and didn't notice until I was home the things missing or wrong with my order. I paid for extra Teri-aioli and it wasn't there. I got the Bridgetown burrito style and the tempura shrimp was completely missing. And I think they might have left it in the fryer too long? The bottoms of each side were so hard due to the fry that I couldn't eat that part. I tried sending an email to Rollin' Fresh so the complaint was private but did not get a response back. I love the couple things I've had at Bridgetown. Have raved about it to friends and on my social. But it was a letdown this time. Really good place! We were walking around Hawthorne asylum and didn't find anything that really caught our eye. But I'm glad we stopped here because the musubi was sooooo yummy. Ended up going back for more. In the end we got 2 avocado musubi and a chicken- very flavorful! They deep fry the filling and it's super crunchy and add seasoning/sauce to it (not sure what it is- some kind of sweet chili?), and then wrap it in rice and seaweed wrapper. This place is SO delicious! My fiancé and I swung by here over the weekend and each grabbed a Bridgetown roll, we both agreed it was one of the absolute best sushirritos we've ever had. I like a crunchy note in sushi rolls, and the tempura coating on the outside of the roll just really makes this next level! I really can't wait to come back and try the City of Roses! I will note, this food cart pod is very busy every time I go, and people don't tend to be very careful. Multiple groups crowding at the same table around the fire to eat with no masks is a little troubling right now, as is no one paying attention to the enter/exit signs or bothering to keep any distance. This is no fault of the food cart owners, just the general public, the food cart owners are really just doing the best they can. That said, if you are being careful as we all should be, this isn't the ideal spot for that right now. We get it to go and try as hard as we can to stay away from the massless masses. I ordered the Always Sunny as a bowl. the fish was not cut as i would expect for a poke bowl, huge thick pieces of fish, the fatty skin was still attached and was slimy and made it hard to chew/inedible. I had the rose city one which I thought had just the right amount of spice without being overpowering, and the whole concept of a sushirito is super cool to me. Cashier was nice enough but obviously since it's a food cart our interaction was brief. So fresh and delicious. The salmon and veggies were fresh and the perfect portion for this sushi roll. The only thing missing was sauce for flavoring. They offer soy sauce and wasabi to the side, but that's about it. Definitely was able to finish the whole sushi roll for one person. Definitely the spot to go to if you're not super hungry and need a snacky snack on a warm fall day in Portlandia. The roll was a good amount of food for me but the rice was way overcooked. Rice can make or break sushi. This rice was mushy and barely retained the original grain shape (see my picture). We used to eat here once or twice a month. As with all things post Covid the quality and portions have declined substantially. My wife ordered the salmon collar like she does every time. First off, they gave us the order without the rice. So I go back to get it and I have to wait in line again. This is when I see the cook making the food hitting their vape every 30 seconds. They are touching their vape and then touching your food. That is disgusting! My wife opened the container and saw that the size of the salmon was tiny compared to what we previously get. I'm talking less than half the size. Additionally the fish was discolored with patchy spots. Made us both uncomfortable. We gave it to a homeless person outside of Hawthorne. This place is delicious but I'm disappointed. The prices have gone up quite a bit and the portion sizes went down by about 50%. Tiny sushi "burritos" are basically size of a small sushi roll at a regular restaurant. I understand there's inflation but wowww! Also I'm allergic to gluten and there's only one thing I can eat on the menu--it's yummy but redundant (it's called who's the master). Kinda weird for a place like this, they could easily have another option.The musubi is "gluten free" but deep fried with gluten which I was not told when I told them I had a gluten allergy. I never feel like a review is worth my time but the "sushi burrito bowl" I got from this was so horrendous that I need to alert the masses. I was really excited to find this place was within walking distance of my new home and they had some really good looking menu items. They even have a small vegan section. But what really got me excited was a picture I found, it looked like my kind of sushi burrito, vegetable heavy, and I had to have it. Absolutely awesome and run by pretty chill people! We ended up coming back for Bing Mi and I was sideswiped by how nice the Rollin Fresh trailer looked. The menu has tons of options which I'll include in my photos. I had the En Fuego as a sushi burrito which was the bomb.com. The fish was delicious as were all the accoutrements. The dish itself was smaller than I thought but even as such was good value. They didnt have a great selection of drinks so I had to go to another truck for that. Overall, I'll come back! I am sad to say that Rollin' Fresh didn't taste fresh. They recommended the Secret Garden but I would not recommend it to you. The portions were small, 3 pieces of tempura green beans with a little slaw and tofu.
