We came on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all so it was perfect for us to take our time and have a little afternoon sake as well. There is an all you can eat option, but we both decided to do a-la-cart and honestly it was enough food for each of us. The quality was so good and it went so well with the nigori bottle that we chose. I forgot which bottle we chose, but I believe they have two options and we can't go wrong with either. What started off as a great introduction went completely downhill. We were served by a female with facial piercings and tattoos (not that it matters however important to identify her). My friend and I ordered the 12 piece total 2-item combination. We both ordered 6 pcs of shrimp and 6 pcs of rib eye for the upgraded price. Our plate of protein only came out with 4 pcs of shrimp so we questioned the server why this was so. She tells us its actually weighed out to 4 ounces and not "pieces" which the menu clearly states. We asked her if this was a new rule because we had dined here literally the week prior. She proceeds to tell us "idk who served you but it's always been like this. I always tell our customers its weighed by ounces" (she did not inform us prior to ordering). We sat for a bit but felt we were being kind of cheated because of the discrepancy from last week's experience. We called her over again and literally told the server we were not trying to pick a fight and we just wanted to clarify due to the discrepancy from last week's meals. She stated "you probably got less rib eye and more shrimp, hence 6 pieces of shrimp." However this was not the case, because we know how to count and its 6 pieces of each item in the 12 PIECE COMBO. So, eventually we asked to speak to a manager. She left to get Kozen (?) her manager and when she came back with a male server(?) she told us "the managers too busy - but he'll allow it this one time but like I said its always been by ounces". From there on out, she proceeds to ignore us, starts coughing (pretty obnoxiously and grossly, might I add) and speaking loudly to those around us, cursing and being overall unprofessional. If you're going to say your food is served in ounces and not by pieces as your menu states, you best be telling ALL YOUR GUESTS before they order regardless if they're returning or new. We had lost our appetite, could not even finish our food and were just trying to rush out because the whole situation made us feel so uncomfortable. She made sure that we were ignored and put to the side and the male server who came down with her tried to mitigate by checking in on us, however we had already been put off by female server and her unprofessionalism. Due to this lack of professionalism and overall extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience, we left 0% tip (which btw, is extremely rare for us). Tucked away on the first floor of the Packing House, this spot has bar seating as well as table seating. It's cozy, so it might be challenging if you're trying to seat a large party. Our go-to's are the salmon and the New York cut (lean, not much fat) or the chuck (marbled with fat). This place has the shacha sauce, which is uncommon at shabu spots around here. We have eaten at most of the places in the Anaheim packing district. We decided to try Rolling Boil for the first time before an evening of cocktails at The Blind Rabbit next door. This hotpot place is located downstairs on the south side of the packing district. You can either sit at the main counter, or at one of the standalone tables on the right side. Ordering involves selecting a broth, proteins, and sauces and rice. They have a la carte and all you can eat protein options. They also serve beer, sake, and a few cocktails. I chose the spicy Szechuan broth, the eight piece New York steak protein, brown rice, and the toasted sesame sauce ($23). They can adjust the spice level and I went with mild since I didn't want to blow out my palette before cocktails after dinner. It was pretty mild, and I would definitely order at least medium spice level next time. They also have hot drops if you want to add that to your broth. I was afraid that only eight pieces of meat would leave me hungry, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cuts of meat were a good size. You also get a separate bowl of noodles and veggies to add to the pot. Without asking, they offered to serve us all three sauces to try. She chose the savory veggie broth, the eight piece chicken protein, brown rice, and the toasted sesame sauce ($20). She's picky about her chicken and did a little fat trimming before I could take a picture, lol. Our favorite sauce was the toasted sesame which had a nice nutty flavor. I also loved the citrus sauce. The sha cha sauce was good, but came in third. I enjoyed the protein in my bowl, but hers ended up being a little smaller serving after trimming some fat off the chicken pieces. Not a great experience unfortunately... I got the Thai coconut soup base which turned out to be very citrusy. I could hardly taste the coconut flavor. The citrus flavor itself wasn't bad, but it's just not what I would expect from a Thai coconut flavor. A huge downside was that my soup arrived fridge-cold. And my station took FOREVER to heat up my soup, hardly took it to a boil. When it eventually started boiling more, it was over ten minutes. Later, it was still barely boiling, just hot. I've never had this happen to me at a hotpot place before. $35 for the basic AYCE (all you can eat). Not a lot of meat options for that one( 4 choices). The first plate I got with the chuck rolls and pork tenderloin looked really fresh. However, my second plate with beef belly and chuck rolls was unsatisfactory. The beef belly had a lot of fat on them, and the chuck rolls this time were super thin slices and they even have brown spots in them. Not very red and fresh like the first plate I got... It also came with a bowl of white or brown rice and a plate of veggies with noodles and tofu that is refillable. Was surprised to see a hot pot place at the Anaheim packing house. TLDR: There is always something charming about dining at a bar table. There is also something charming about hotpot. This place provides both. The ala carte options are good, and the AYCE is a nice addition for parties with various appetites. The price is $5-10 more than the chain hotpot spots, but I'd pay the extra for supporting a local business. AYCE Premium: I chose the miso based soup just because it was familiar. You get rice, a plate of napa cabbage, noodles, mushroom, and broccoli to start and you have 7-8 choices of meat. The sesame sauce seems to be the restaurant's top choice, but I thought the meal would have been fine without it. The turnaround time of how often the staff would take your fresh set of orders is heavily dependent on how many people are eating at the bar, but they'll keep you in mind via mental queue if you let them know that you're ready to order again. Best cuts for me are the Ribeye and New York, which is important since those are the additional slices you get access to if you opt in for the premium. Beef belly was good, just to change things up a few rounds in. Service: It was alright. It's not the best, but it's far from being the worst. They found this fine balance of being able to take in a Friday rush with as little staff needed while providing what folks need without waiting too long. Ambiance: Anaheim packing house is already a good place to be. Pair that with a hotpot place that serves good food and it's a pairing that is hard to beat. The Friday night DJ also played a set that I enjoyed, which helped with the vibe. She let us taste different types of broth and sauces to make sure we picked the one we liked best. She also was very patient in walking us through the cooking and preparation process. This used to be my favorite place to get Hot Pot. When the original guy/owner was there, everything was delicious. The past few times we've been, our experience hasn't been great. I've eaten here at least 20 times before. The service isn't great anymore. I ordered pork tenderloin and they brought out some kind of beef. I could hardly get our waitress's attention to change it. Water has weird aftertaste. There was also a leak in the pipe above which kept dripping into my food. I'm really sad cause I still want this to be my favorite hot pot place. My husband and I had an amazing experience dining at this hot pot restaurant. Our waiter, Roger (Rogelio) was super attentive, fast, and friendly. He made sure we were enjoying our meal, constantly checked in on us, and offered great suggestions and samples. Roger goes above and beyond to treat you not just like a customer, but a friend. The food is always great every time we come . We always get, all you can eat because that is all that we know. Fun thing is we never caught that you can also get a scoop of ice cream when you are done. The people are very nice and attentive as long as they are not busy and having people waiting but I have always had great experiences with the staff sometimes I am shy to talk but they are patient and attentive and always ask if we need anything else. The area is placed at the bottom floor of the packing house so it is a little tought to find parking spots so it's busy lots of foot traffic. There is also plenty of noise there, if you are looking for a sweet cute quiet date night I would not recommend this place. This hot pot restaurant is in Anaheim packing house. The seatings are spacious and cozy. Menu was extensive enough and prices were fair. We started off with a medium Kikusui, the sake prices were really good. I chose two items chicken and shrimps with Thai coconut broth, hubby had ribeye with special broth. I came here with a friend when our original shabu spot was closed, but so lucky that we did! First of all, the server was super friendly and talkative (although sometimes it took awhile to get his attention because he was busy chatting with all the customers). But once we asked for something, it came right away. We weren't too sure how much meat comes in the combos and we were feeling hungry, so we opted for the AYCE without seafood for $35. It's a bit pricier than other AYCE shabu spots, but I have to say that their broth is amazing. I got a mix of broth (highly recommend doing this), which consisted of the spicy szechuan and special of the day: miso. It had the perfect balance of spicy and savory. The broth was also quite thick, which gave it so much flavor and not watered down at all. For the meats, we got the beef ribeye and beef belly. I'm all about the beef, so this was perfect. As we went through our rounds of meats, the quality did go down a bit and our plates got smaller. Overall, still very delicious. I also really enjoyed the ramen noodles, but I do wish there were more vegetable variety. Of course to end it all, you get a scoop of ice cream to wrap it all up. He kept talking to the people next to us and just straight up ignored us. So after sitting for a long time we just decided to leave. I rarely write negative reviews and if you do not believe me then check my stats. Looking at the menu, prices, and based off of what we experienced I can guarantee you I will never be back. Of the options I went with the spicy one and with some steak which was totally perfect as I had a good sized bowl of boiling goodness to throw some meat into making for one killer pot of goodness! The veggies the broth the meat the sauce everything was perfect and soo good like I'm going to be craving this until I can get back here! Our service was outstanding too they were totally on top of everything we needed and very nice even more so when they kept giving us sake shots which just added that much more fun to an already awesome night! The owner is really nice and friendly. He made sure to check in with all of his customers and built rapport with his easy-going personality. As for the food, it was delicious! Perfect for a cold day in December. We had two bowls for a group of 3 people for AYCE. One bowl had the Thai Coconut and the other had a combination of Spicy Szechuan and Savory Veggie as the broth. Personally, the combo broth was our favorite to add the veggies and meats in. We ordered all of the sauces to try and the Citrus sauce was the best for the meat. I ordered the 8 pieces of salmon with the Thai coconut broth. It comes with a plate of veggies, a portion of noodles, and a bowl of rice. Price was ~$23. The Thai coconut broth was interesting; probably not my favorite broth. It was a little too sour for my taste. The dipping sauces were quite yummy, especially the toasted sesame sauce. The salmon was delicious of course! It was super tender especially if cooked properly. I overall enjoyed my salmon. It's a little pricey for just 8 prices of salmon, but it does come with veggies and carbs. In general, hot pot/shabu are on the expensive side, so price is as expected.
