(I'd say it's between a 3-3.5/5 stars) We have heard talk about Roma23 being a good restaurant with great food and service so decided to head in for a quick dinner. Starting with the service: our server was friendly and prompt. Took our order, checked on us a couple times, and brought boxes for leftovers. I'd say it was very standard service but she forgot to bring refills out at one point and we had to ask a server assistant for refills. No complaints about the service besides that. We ordered the Buffalo Mozzarella to start. This was the star of the whole meal. The tomato sauce was light, spicy, and flavorful. I loved the idea of the serrano peppers added. Definitely unique. The burrata was plump, creamy, and balanced out the tomato sauce. I would go back for that appetizer. We also ordered the creamy beef ravioli and the ajillo shrimp pasta. The creamy beef ravioli was good and had a huge portion. The beef was savory while the cream sauce was thick and seasoned just right. The shrimp pasta was not great. Very watery and lacked a lot of flavor. I had to add more chili pepper flakes and parmesan to it to help it out but it was just not redeemable. I also thought the pappardelle was a little overcooked. Did not finish it. We also got the kids cheese pizza (added pepperoni for $2) and thought it was a decent pizza. I thought it was a pretty big portion and the toddler that was with us only had two slices before getting full. The tomato sauce was very tangy and the pepperoni crisped up nicely. Overall, everything was decent. Maybe I'll come back to try different things if I'm in the area but I would not go out of my way to come dine. The atmosphere was quiet and had a decent amount of seating. Prices are fine - not expensive nor cheap. read more

Phenomenal pizza!! Wow, this place was so delicious and the decor was top-notch as well. It was dead for lunch during the work week on a Thursday, so I want to encourage everyone to go on their lunch break! They have lunch specials, but my friend and I split the Buffalo cheese appetizer and the Heaven pizza. Both were made so well. I love the freshly made sourdough pizza crust, but everything about it was exceptional. I love that I found this place on Yelp! Very delicious pizza. This is now one of my favorite new spots not too far from my new home in the West Valley. But it was a great place to meet my friend that traveled from my old hometown (Ahwatukee; south Phoenix). I also love that the parking lot was big. Plenty of room to park. I look forward to many more future visits. read more

Decent place that needs its folks to slow down a bit. All of the following has happened within the last week: The first time I called them, I couldn't even place an order for pickup since they immediately hung up the phone after I asked a question about their lunch special. I asked if the special was for dine-in only. After being told yes, I was going to place an order for pickup anyway, but they assumed otherwise and hung up. Whatever. Not that big of a deal. A few days later, I gave them another chance and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Heaven pizza and chicken Alfredo. Heaven pizza was amazing. It does get soggy fast due to the toppings, so I'd recommend warming it up in the oven instead of microwave. Chicken alfredo was decent - needs a little flavor and more than 4 pieces of cut up chicken for the price. After last night's order, I decided to order takeout before work. I ordered a chicken caesar salad and chicken alfredo. When I got to work, I saw that my chicken caesar salad didn't have any chicken. I called them and they refunded me $4. Not sure if I'll be back again, but check them out if you're in the area. They have a couple things to work on. Not bad, yet not the best. read more

We stopped by Roma 23 yesterday for lunch, surprisingly for a Saturday they weren't busy when we arrived around 2:30pm. They have a nice patio and a full bar, with an open kitchen where you can see the steaming plates being picked up. The decor is super cute and they played great music! I would definitely come hang here on a Friday night. We're were seated immediately and our server came right now. I picked the heaven pizza and my partner got the Roma style square pizza with fresh mozzarella slices, tomatoes and jalapeño. We both ordered size salads and for $5 they were pretty big! Thy don't come with anything other than cheese (parm) and croutons but you can add a protein. I would've liked some onion, tomato, etc but it was fresh and still tasty! Our pizza came out quickly and I must say the heaven pizza is delicious! The fig spread is sweet and the arugula adds a nice tart balance. The Burrata is good but beware, coupled with the fig spread it can make the pizza a little soggy. But the crust!!! Omg so yummy. It's chewy and perfectly charred. So tasty! Overall we had a great experience, staff was great (all the waitresses are GORGEOUS and so nice) and the bathroom even has the perfect LED selfie mirror. We will definitely be back. read more

Second time trying this place out and again was not disappointed. Great service and amazing food. The pizza is probably some of the best I've had. The dough and crust alone has so much flavor. The inside of the restaurant is very modern. Looks like an across between a sports bar and a hip little place to get some great Italian food. We tried the cauliflower crust 10 inch pizza with pepperoni and sausage, the Caesar salad, wings in a split order between mango habanero and Buffalo flavored. The wings were big and plump with great flavor in both the flavors we tried. The Caesar salad was awesome with a very good dressing, the pizza with the cauliflower crust was amazing and the crust was flavorful. The ranch dressing is homemade and probably the best I have had. This was our first time here and we likely won't be back. We ordered two pizzas and a kid's spaghetti and had a bill of almost $100 before tip. That's really steep for what we got. The pizzas were fairly good but not gourmet price good. I had the godfather which didn't seem to have sauce on it. Roma23 hits all the marks. It has enough of a casual atmosphere where you feel like you can sit have a drink watch the game on one of the many screens and enjoy one of their great craft cocktails or in the alternative come here for us relatively romantic date. They've done well to decorate the interior to make you feel classy yet casual. We had the french fries the wings and the beef raviolis they were great. I've been here two times, the first time I figured it was an off day. The food lacked flavor and service was subpar. The second time I tried a different dish and again, no flavor. Additionally I ordered a Ceasar salad, it came out after the food once we reminded the staff we had ordered it and the dressing tasted like mayonnaise with pepper in it. Found this spot while visiting the area. We sat quickly at the bar where we were greeted quickly. We decided to order the fried calamari and buffalo wings (picture after we already ate half). The serving sizes were incredible! Two hungry eaters and we still had leftover. Then for the main courses. My husband loves BBQ pizza and they were so kind to make him his own custom pizza with BBQ as the sauce. He LOVED it. My ajillo shrimp pasta was beautiful and delicious. Didn't know this place existed right down the road from me! Wish we would have discovered it earlier. Nice relaxing atmosphere, and solid Italian food. Service was spot on. Pizza is good. Menu isn't huge compared to some Italian restaurants but wasn't a problem finding something for the whole family. Let's see where do I begin, the waitress from the minute we walked in was attentive and happy. The bartender greeted us as we walked in also, you can tell the atmosphere here is positive. We were seated and given a warm welcome as well as great suggestions since we let them know we had never been here before. I hope their pizzas are good. First time here, for father's day brunch, and well, it sucked. Steak and eggs should have been advertised as gristle and eggs, and flavorless gristle at that. Also no access to regular menu during brunch, which waa really disappointing. Had to use a knife to stir my coffee and refills were hard to come by.. Like I said, I hope their pizza is good cuz otherwise, this is a no go for me. read more

First off the service was A+. The atmosphere is great. We were seated right away, and everyone greeted us when we walked in and when we left. We started off with the buffalo mozzarella and let me tell you that was delicious. Had a little kick to it, which you made it even better. My husband had a godfather pizza and he said it was very good and flavorful! I had the Ajillo Shrimp. I was not a fan at all ! It was very unflavored full no matter how much Parmesan I put on it. It took a bit for us to be seated as there was only one host who always also the waitress and a carry out order was being tended to when we arrived. Immediately of notice was their decorated wall with green imitation leafs and flowers and their giant, possibly welded sign. We sat at the booth and were thankfully both served water first after providing our drink order. The pizza was very good! My husband strays away from most food items with pastas because of the heartburn it causes him but there was no complaints about it afterwards. He also enjoyed his BBQ wings. I enjoyed my side salad. We both ordered gelato. He finished his vanilla all on his own and I finished my mango on my own. The server kindly offered us the flight of gelato since it came out to the same price but we opted for more of our original choice than smaller sizes of 4 different flavors. These ordered items were enough to keep us going until the next morning and we left this location around 6PM. The waitress was very kind and attentive to the cleanliness for our table by taking dishes we were finished with immediately. She navigated our dishes and drinks carefully too. read more

The best brick oven pizza I've ever had! Best chicken Alfredo I've tried too! Everything from the food to the service was top notch! Looking forward to sharing this place with family and friends now that we know about it. We all got some cocktails and a cheese appetizer with toasted bread, yum! My wife was craving wood fired pizza and we stumbled upon this place on google! Boy, are we glad that we did! This place is awesome! The hot wings are HUGE and well sauced. Had an amazing dinner here. Food was great. Our server, Vanessa, was the best. We came with a screaming baby and a dog. Sat in the cute patio. She was patient, kind and thoughtful. She was prompt with our orders and made sure our food arrived quickly. We took advantage of their lunch deals and were not disappointed. The ajillo pasta with shrimp was a bit spicy but definitely the highlight. The wood-fired pizza was incredibly authentic with fresh ingredients. Then there's an event which I was not told about on the phone, we had two babies there and they had to leave due to the volume. The restaurant's air conditioning appeared to not be working, and with temperatures around 110° outside, it was unbearably hot inside. By the time we left, my hair and makeup were ruined from sweating. To make matters worse, while we were sitting there waiting, we received a text stating that our reservation had been canceled. The table we had reserved had been given away to another group. The waitress we repeatedly asked for water was extremely rude, and when we went to the bar ourselves just to get a drink, we still received no assistance. One of the chairs was broken and actually collapsed underneath my husband. When we tried to speak with the manager about everything that was happening, he simply threw his hands up and walked away. There was no apology, no attempt to resolve the situation, and no concern whatsoever for our group. What was especially telling was that even the guests seated near us--who ended up at the table we had reserved--were having service issues and had to get their own water. They were so frustrated that they wanted to walking out along with us, they didn't and I see they also left a bad review. I am so sad for them as well. I understand that things happen. Air conditioning issues, staffing shortages, and busy Saturday nights can be beyond a restaurant's control. What is in their control is how they treat their customers. Not once did anyone acknowledge the situation, communicate with us, apologize, or attempt to make things right. When you have nearly 20 people gathered for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night, you can't simply find another restaurant at the last minute. What should have been a special evening turned into an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. The lack of customer service, communication, and basic hospitality was shocking. We left feeling ignored, disrespected, and completely let down.

There's some new construction going on nearby and I hope we don't lose the lovely classic brick look the gas station and taste of Italy has. I didn't get a chance to eat the pizza my aunt got but I can say, I will always order their chicken Alfredo. It is so creamy and so delicious. What I appreciate the most is that the pasta itself is cooked perfectly al dente and not overcooked. I love the chew and bounciness an al dente pasta brings. The chicken pieces were on the smaller side and could use more but the sauce and pasta were great. I'll have to look into the lunches! We asked for utensils for the takeout order given that we also had a salad and a pasta but there were no utensils whatsoever. We ate at the park and trusted that utensils would be included so we had to go back home to get forks and come all the way back :(

The el Benito was fabulous too. The green sauce is probably the best I have ever had. The waitress was very friendly. When I couldn't decide between one of the Hardy dishes or the sweet pancakes, she recommended ordering the pancakes for the entire table and that worked out great cause there was plenty.

We sat outside, and the service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Very aesthetic, perfect for pictures. Even the restroom was impressively done! I would definitely come back. The food was absolutely worth it.
