I used to come here often several years ago and recently revisited just for the nostalgia, and I'm glad to see that some things stay the same. Roman Cucina has some of the best service you'll ever have in the restaurant field. Servers are attentive and the hostesses are beyond friendly, making sure that all your needs and wants are met (they might be checking in on you a little TOO much sometimes). It gets pretty packed here no matter what day you go. I came here on a Tuesday right at opening time and there was already a queue of people waiting outside for the doors to open. It gets pretty packed real fast! As for the food, it's good, but I wish the pasta was cooked al dente because both mine and my friend's dishes came out a bit overcooked and mushy. It was also personally a bit too salty for my taste too, but the portions are huge and generous. They definitely don't skimp on the pasta here, and that's generally what you wanna see in this economy as a consumer. When we arrived, as a party of 10, I was surprised to be seated within 15 min at 5pm. Wow... Then Dylan, our server, greeted us and took our drink orders. (Can this be? Within 20 min upon arriving, our drinks were on the way.) The restaurant is Beautiful. Service is on Point. Kudos to the Owners/Management. My family was impressed. Look, I love olive garden but sometimes i want an elevated Italian meal, and I think I found it! FOOD-- I have to say, everything we ordered was good and some really good! And portions were great! We even got complimentary salad and bread. LEMON CREAM PASTA-- This was so good, very lemony. If lemon is your vibe, get this. MEATBALL SANDWICH-- This was humongous and very filling. The meatballs are huge and the bread was fresh. SAUSAGE PASTA-- The ricotta in the pasta made it so good and creamy, it was honestly very flavorful. BRUSCHETTA-- This was super good but beware very garlicky. I like it but i know people are sensitive to garlic. I was a little apprehensive about the whole plate being thrown in the oven and having warm tomatoes but it was good. BANANA SPLIT COCKTAIL-- This was good! A little sweet but good. SERVICE-- I have to say, the reason why I knocked off one star was because of how we got seated. Let me start by saying everyone was very nice. We waited 30 minutes before getting a text our table was ready. We entered from the back of the restaurant where servers are coming in and out with dishes. We waited an additional 10 minutes in the small hallway which was very uncomfortable. I wish they would have just texted me when the table was truly ready because we were smushed in the hallway being bumped into by other guests and servers. Not the best way to start dinner. Pasta fans unite at Roman Cucina! Great Italian spot in Fullerton to try with a whole page dedicated to pasta dishes. Nick, our server was great! I came here for a team dinner and although we did have a reservation, we waited still about 40 minutes. The reservation system is a little interesting where you basically cut the line for the next available table but you aren't guaranteed a table at the time you make the reservation. We sat in the alley entry area which gets pretty packed. The chairs are strangely shorter than the and ordered espresso martinis (delicious) and a bottle of wine since it's half off Wine Wednesdays! Although the business was very packed, all the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. The decor is very vibey for those intimate dinners and hang outs with hanging lights and dim lit chandeliers. For appetizers we started with the pizza bread actually called the pepperoni garlic bread, calamari, and bruschetta. My favorite was the pizza bread - it's got fresh grated garlic and who doesn't love melty cheese and pepperoni. For pasta, I got the Rosa with fettuccine and langostino lobster as protein (total $25). Great amount of sauce but higher ratio of red than white sauce. I wish it was a bit spicier too for an extra kick. Because I'm a complicated human for the already busy staff (I'm sorry), I also ordered a side of the lemon cream sauce because I was torn between the two. Then I mixed is all together and loved it. This is our 4th visit and each and every time is better than the previous visit. This is hands down some of the best Italian food we've ever eaten. The staff was really friendly and attentive and has mostly young people who seem relatively eager to work and serve, which was nice to see. The food was pretty large portions and reasonable price, and was presented nicely. In fact, it felt like a massive amount of food For each of us and there were four of us and we ordered four dishes, but honestly could've shared two and made all of us full... But I can never be mad about a restaurant giving you extra! I will say all four of us had a little stomach pain later in the evening that I don't think was from bad food, but probably just too much food... Lol. My family wanted to take me here as I've never tried this place, and it's recently become one of their favorites. We made a reservation for 6:30 PM, and there was still about a 30 minute wait to get seated (but I don't blame them - it was super busy, even on a weeknight). The music was pretty loud, and given the restaurant was full, it got a little hard to hear each other and the servers at times. We got seated and were shortly served some bread and butter and a salad. We dug into those while we waited for the food we ordered, which didn't take super long to come out (maybe 10 minutes?). I played it safe and ordered my favorite pa - chicken fettuccine Alfredo. I really enjoyed the pasta, and I also really like the calamari and bruschetta (which we had ordered to share). Make sure you don't drop any tomatoes or cheese if you get the bruschetta! Our server was John, and he was super attentive and quick to bring out whatever we needed. He noticed our glasses running low and would refill our water promptly, and he'd often check in to see if we needed anything else or if there were any plates to be cleared. My husband and I came here for our anniversary. I really loved the ambience inside this restaurant. It was a little bit crowded, but we got to sit at the bar and order a couple of drinks while we waited. The wait didn't end up being too long, we were at the bar for about 25 minutes after we were seated we were greeted by our server named Daniel. He recommended some dishes for us and put in our appetizer order right away. After we received and tried our main dishes, I realize that the spicy rose cream sauce that I ordered was a little bit too spicy. I didn't wanna say anything, but my husband mentioned it to Daniel and without a beat he immediately asked if I wanted a replacement. I didn't wanna be a hassle so I refused, but he came up with a great idea to give me extra sauce to balance out the spiciness. He even suggested the ricotta cheese to help as well. Daniel was very helpful and patient. He provided really great service which made my husband and I want to come back more often and make this our regular date night spot. Last night was my first time visiting Roman Cucina and it became an instant favorite. The wait was an hour long but it was worth it! Helpful tip: show up when the doors open to avoid the long wait. If you have to wait, put your name down and they will text you when your table is ready--plenty of time at that point to wander downtown. I was very impressed with the service we received. They were attentive, fast and polite. I ordered the Pasta Tombrello with the gluten free pasta and it was delicious {might have taken the rest home and ate it that night!}. The Pepperoni Garlic Bread was tasty too--especially with the marinara that they give you. Next time I'll have to try another pasta dish and finish off the evening with a cannoli! The only negative I will say--is the bathroom. And yes I know it's a bathroom --and although it was clean--it smelled really bad, almost like sewage. Sunday dinner for three at 6:00 pm, only a 20 minute wait. We had a chance to discover a nice used book shop nearby. A text brought us back and we were seated in a nice booth. The decor has photos or paintings depicting Italians, football jerseys, nice lights very inviting. The waitress described the special, lobster ravioli So that's what my wife wanted. I love everything about this restaurant! My boyfriend and I came by on a Thursday evening around 7:00 for his birthday. We were told the wait would be close to an hour, so we killed time around DTF. I got a text that our table was ready within 30 minutes. They are VERY serious about that 5 minute time window to get back to the restaurant, because on the exact 6th minute we got back to the hostess table and they had already given our table away :,). Luckily we were told we would get the next open seat. I ordered the bolognese spaghetti with a meatball and my boyfriend had shrimp scampi. My bf and I frequently walk past this restaurant in DTF and typically it's always packed around dinner time. Today we went in a little earlier around 5pm and were able to grab a table immediately. Note- this place is pretty dimly lit so your eyes will take a minute to adjust especially if it's really bright outside! Upon finishing our water and plates, they weren't on our table for longer than 2-3 minutes. They're very fast at delivering the food to the table after ordering as well. Kudos to the kitchen and bussers! Bread was warm and crunchy and very flakey! One bite and there was bread flakes everywhere. Butter was firm but gave good flavor taken with the bread- it just doesn't spread well. We ordered the pasta gianni paired with a side of the soup, the Italian wedding soup, both were delicious!! The soup honestly tasted like the instant lunch ramen noodle but fancier. It had meatballs and tiny noodle chunks the size of mini boba balls (which were my favorite). My girlfriend and I were craving some Italian food and I saw that this spot had good reviews and decided to give it a shot. Wow did this place hit the spot. The lasagna was cooked perfectly with some tasty ground beef. My girlfriend ordered the alfredo with penne pasta and chicken breast which was delicious as well. Even the garlic bread which is just an appetizer was amazing. Don't get me started on the interior, makes you forget you're even in Fullerton and just adds to the dining experience.
