Okay I just reread my last review and that cup of coffee mutsa been pretty bad because I was harshhhh.... today I was in desperate need of nourishment so I popped into Romancing the Bean (which is next door to my shoe guy where I was dropping off a faulty pump) and picked up a Pressed Veggie Sandwich to go. Service was great and the sandwich was pretty good! I believe it was $10.75 (incl. the $1 upcharge for gluten free bread and tax) and I think it was worth it. They have a few things on their menu that sounds delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh and it was a good portion. So I would go back for a sammie or some other food (but prob still not for the coffee). I love a Yelp upgrade moment! read more

This is my second time here and I love it! I got to try a latte and the black and white mocha which was delicious! Plus I have a habit of trying a croissants at every coffee shop and I got to tell you the almond croissants was tasty. The place has like this cool coffee shop vibe super LA scene. It's a great place for first date, second date and any other date, it's got outside patio seating and plenty of chairs inside. Now I have not tried the breakfast or the salads here but I'll try it next time they look real healthy. read more

I can't give them five stars, but after several more visits, I can say they are consistently good. The food is always fresh, as they use organic, local ingredients. The dishes are simple and can be a bit bland. But hey, I'll take fresh and natural tasting over processed foods any day. I love their teas and they make a delicious latte with almond milk, my usual order when I'm working. The prices are a bit higher than your average cafe, but the quality is worth it. read more

The cafe is really cute, the decore is super funky and unique. They have a large community table and other mini tables. They also have seating outside. The parking is pretty good- you can do metered or around the residential areas for 2 hours. I did not order food, so I cannot review if that aspect was good or not. The coffee however, not good. I'm very VERY into my coffee and can easily tell the difference between good espresso roasts. My mocha latte tasted like it was sweetened with chocolate fudge sauce from the 99 cents store. No offense, but it was horrible. It totally overpowered the latte and I had asked for less mocha sauce beforehand. I can't imagine if I hadn't. BLAH. I ended up ordering a plain latte and again blah. My suggestion, either offer it fully or don't. I wouldn't be as inclined to come here and spend money with those kinds of restrictions. I love this place. Best coffee out of the many coffee options up and down Magnolia. Great space to write, read, or chat with people. Excellent food as well, particularly for breakfast. Friendly staff too. Honestly, this is really a 4.95 star review. I only have one complaint that I do feel I need to call out: the music. Namely, every time I go, they are always playing the same three Sade songs. Like every day, and literally the same songs. I love love love this place. The decor was well designed- mostly black and white color scheme; it has a funky, casually elegant ambiance. I love the mix of fun chairs and wall bench seating...to suit your mood and whatever you want to do. The seating area was well planned; a mix of individual marble top tables for intimate seating, long wooden tables for groups and a kid-friendly table up front was a nice touch too. I watched a mom and her little daughter come in behind me. The little girl must have been 6 or so, and it was her birthday, so her mom let her order one of the brownies or something in the case. I watched the girl's face light up as she brought her little treat to the kiddie table. The fresh flowers on the tables were a nice touch too. The menu boats sandwiches, salads, smoothies, justices and of course the usual coffee options. I was struck by how clean everything was (as it should be for a restaurant) but it was obvious someone truly cares about this place--the sense of pride was evident from the exterior windows, to the food display cases, and right through to the very back wall inside. I suppose a latte is just a latte, but for some reason this one they made for me was perfectly made...the foamed non-fat milk seemed extra delicious...a dreamy mug of soothing java goodness. I glanced around the cafe, observing the blend of young and hip patrons gazing into their iPhones, MacBooks, iPads while sipping their coffee concoction. The large front windows offered great opportunities for 'people-watching' from passers by along Magnolia Boulevard. The comfy furniture and awesome music selection added to its relaxed atmosphere, making it easy to linger. I was tempted to have something to eat because everything looked so delicious, but I had already eaten lunch. Perhaps another time. I have been exploring Burbank for a few weeks now & found this place while walking along Magnolia. It caught my attention so I yelped it and saw that the reviews were good so i decided to try it out for lunch. I went around 2:30 PM and got lucky & found a spot right in front. I loved the spaciousness of it and how clean and welcoming it was. There is plenty of large tables for seating and they also have a bar section if you want something quick. There was no wait time (although i did go after the lunch hour rush, may be different at a different time of day or on weekends). I ordered an iced mocha and a Turkey & Bbay Swiss Panini which also came with a small salad w/ vinaigrette. Pros: -Plenty of parking spots (street) -Walking distance to lots of antique shops & boutiques -Not Loud (decent place to study) -Not crammed with people (but i went after the lunch rush so maybe i just got lucky) -Coffee was delicious & not watered down (which is huge in my book because I'm a coffee addict and it's hard to find quality iced coffee) -Kitchen is open so you can see how they are preparing your food -Very comfortable and spacious seating -Cute decor (not overwhelming but creative, I especially liked their mismatched chairs) -Plenty of menu options -Very polite and attentive staff - Food is made to order & very tasty ( i was very satisfied after i finished and didn't feel quilty as it was fresh and healthy) -They have Wifi, so you can go and study or work or play games while you enjoy a coffee. I had no idea this place existed until just a few weeks ago. I'm so glad my mommy group decided to come here! Such a cute, nice and updated coffee shop with super friendly staff. The accommodated more than just a few strollers. I lalaloooove their iced coffee. Nowhere near watered down, they even add coffee ice cubes. Move over Starbucks! Probably the coolest thing is their computer system. It looks like a tiny laptop. They swipe your card and then turn the tiny laptop screen toward you so you can sign the screen with your finger. It's totally state of the art! Also, awesome food here whether it be breakfast or lunch. I loved their veggie breakfast burrito and bran muffin. Everything here tastes fresh and is super good. While this place is super cute and hipster, it's WAY overpriced. It's absurd that a smoothie would be $8. I got the salmon tartare salad and it was $14 and it was TINYYYY. I have had a lot of chai tea lattes. I don't drink coffee so it's generally what I get when my friends want to stop at a starbucks. Let me tell you. This place has the best chai tea lattes I've ever had! First of all, the whole restaurant looks like a sorority sister's pintrest board, and I mean that in the best way possible. Chalkboard menu, adorable pastries, pretty chandeliers and filtered photos of local businesses on the walls. Very comfortable and cute. But let me get to this chai. The foam on top was like fluffy caramel. So sweet and sticky, found myself licking out the leftover foam after I finished. Big chunks of spice at the bottom of the cup after you're done just go to show how much they put into it. Loved loved loved this place! Will be coming back for sure! read more

This place is just so adorable it inspired me to write my first review ever on yelp! I could hang out here for hours with the cute decor and cozy atmosphere. The shop is a well-lit open space with chandeliers and a communal table near the front of the store. I got a cappuccino and the famous curry chicken sandwich that comes with a simple mixed green salad. The sandwich had a nice mild curry flavor, big chunks of chicken, and a little sweetness from the currants. My cappuccino was delicious and I'm a sucker for any coffee art so the cinnamon heart was a nice touch. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

A friend & I were thrifting and discovered this place while walking around. We noticed the black and white striped awning and the cute name above, peered inside and fell in love. We were romanced by the decor, that's for sure! I was immediately at eye level with the pastry window, decorated with massive, ornate cakes with pastel frosting. Death by chocolate and other pastries on different styled cake trays. Next to the front window is a long farm banquet table and against the main wall are tuffeted head boards above communal and intimate seating areas. We ordered from the large chalkboard behind the register, but it was an iPad! Zing! So easy, and a one button tip feature! We sat at the bar, chunky marble top but the stools were a little too low. It was a Saturday afternoon so I ordered the turkey and swiss pressed sandwich with cilantro mayo on walnut raisin bread. It came with a side salad and edible flowers. The dressing was a little much, but delicious otherwise. My friend had the swiss chard salad special, with prosciutto and a poached egg on top. YUM! So I braced myself for a disdained look coupled with a few exasperated sighs. Instead, she suggested I try it with coffee ice cubes so it wouldn't dilute the drink. Say what? You can do that? Wow! Came here for the first time with my wife the other night. While the coffee was good, I was very disappointed in the staff and their off-putting attitude. The guy behind the counter who made the coffee wasn't a jerk or anything, but they weren't very nice or accommodating either. Maybe they were getting ready to close and just wanted to go home, but the vibe just didn't seem cool or welcoming. To me, that is almost the important part of a small neighborhood coffee place. When you can go to Starbucks and get a better vibe and feel more welcome.....then you have problems. Romancing the Bean has been in my bookmarks for a while and I went by today for a coffee date with my friend. It is a nice open space with great decor. They have a decent amount of food and drink choices, and I went with an almond chai latte and an almond croissant. The latte was delicious, the best I have tried so far, and the croissant was just okay. The cafe is fairly pricey. My drink and pastry together costed about $8. Also, the whole time we were there, there was the smell of something burning and when we left the smell was in my hair, yuck! I had a great experience here but my boyfriend's meal was a bit of a struggle, which is why I can only give four stars. The atmosphere is really appealing even though the noise level is pretty high. I ordered the quiche which came with some fruit and greens. The quiche itself was really great but unfortunately I couldn't eat the fruit because there were raspberries on it and I'm allergic. I also had the French press which was on point. So onto my boyfriend's problems. He ordered the breakfast burrito. First he got the wrong order delivered to us, but that was quickly fixed. Next when he received his meal there was a couple fruit flies in his fruit. He decided to ignore it because he didn't want to wait again, also I gave him my fruit. Lastly he had a double espresso, which he said was okay... my boyfriend can be quite picky when it comes to his espresso. Overall though I would definitely go back again. As an outsider to the LA Area, I was looking to find a great place to get my "Mocha" fix. After trying some other places around town I finally stumbled upon "Romancing the Bean Cafe". With an interesting name like "Romancing the Bean" I was immediately curious and interested in trying this place out. It has a very cool layout on the inside with easy viewing of the kitchen right in front of you. On to the reason I was there, the mocha... I ordered the large and oh my goodness it was HUGE....Sometimes when you go to a coffeehouse your drink can become lukewarm after just 5 minutes, but here it stayed scalding hot for a very long time. Drinking a very hot mocha is something I truly enjoy and props to R.T.B. for achieving this feat! Did I mention, that it's huge? I was amped for the rest of the day. I also went went with a simple breakfast sandwich w/ egg, white cheddar, and pancetta. It was delicious. Overall, R.T.B. is a bit pricey, but to me worth it. Quality coffee and awesome food. Next time I am in the Burbank area, I will make sure to try some of the other coffee drinks that others have raved about. Till next time! read more

So disappointed in my experience. I ordered a iced matcha latte. First it originally came out hot, then they fixed it for me and made it iced. However this was quiet possibly the worst matcha I have ever had. The bottom of the cup had huge chunks of powder that were not blended at all. I came here on a Thursday afternoon with a friend and the place was hopping even at 2pm. I can't imagine how busy it must be on the weekend, and how much of a pain parking is then too, but on a Thursday afternoon there were plenty of spots on N Lima St. When we arrived there wasn't much of a line and we were able to order fairly quickly. I got a large Americano and my friend got a small latte, and a scone, for the two drinks and a snack it cost just over $10, which isn't bad especially considering it would be a bit more (with lower quality) at Starbucks. I will also agree with other reviewers: the customer service here is lacking (which usually isn't the case at that famous Seattle chain). It's fine in that the job gets done, but not very warm and welcoming (this didn't really bother me too much: no one was rude so I don't really care, but it was something I noted. Don't go in expecting cheerful smiles and a big "hello"). The wait for our drinks was pretty substantial so I wouldn't come here if you're in a rush. Luckily we came to chat so once we snagged a table the wait was of no consequence. My Americano was one of the best I've had, and I'll definitely return to Romancing the Bean for that and the low-key atmosphere which actually allows for conversing to take place (no loud music to shout over, or too many people to contend with). read more

Amazing cafe. Inside is a lot bigger than in pictures and spacious. Lots of tables inside to sit down, relax and have an amazing cup of iced coffee, which is what I ordered this trip. Came here after reading some positive reviews on yelp, and wanted to try something...not Starbucks. Plenty of parking, even on a Saturday (which is a major plus for me) not too busy inside, clean and the barista was so nice! She could tell I was a newbie. Amazing decor inside, steampunk inspired, I loved it. Didn't even need to look at the menu, which was huuuuge by the way. Already knew I wanted a Large Cold Brew (organic) iced coffee. Awesome job on the coffee ice cubes by the way, I was almost waiting for the ice to melt. Got my drink, a little on the pricier side, but the coffee was so worth it. This cafe is charming and has a great selection of food and really good coffee. Unfortunately the wait staff / employees are not so great and will mess up your order frequently. Very cute space down the street from Portos in Burbank. Had a breakfast burrito and my friend had a latte with one of those fancy designs put in the middle of it. We went early like 830, it was quiet, easy to get a table, fast service. Place is a huge Wi-Fi mecca so it gets crowded I'm told in the afternoon and gets very noisy around Lunchtime and sometimes hard to get a table. I will go early again, love the vibe, great service, highly recommend it. read more
