I absolutely adore this little café! The atmosphere is very vintage and cutesy...I'm all about that style. Plus, parking was so easy! There is a large selection of food and drinks, I've had: Apple & brie sammie- favorite Caprese sammie Hazelnut soy latte What I like the best about this place is the service. It was phenomenal. Everyone was very patient and friendly and had great food suggestions. Someone even took the time to help us with the wifi when she saw us having trouble. I lost my wallet while working here, it was found and returned to me which I truly appreciate. Steampunk meets Hipster. That's how I'd describe this coffee house sandwich shop. Very quaintly located in the middle of the block, and with many residential homes around it, it's definitely the local's joint. You can tell who the owner is because she walks around very proudly, offering help and great customer service all along the way. They have tons of coffee and tea choices, many sandwiches on a wide variety of breads, soups, salads, and even a smoothie bar! Pleasantly surprised to walk into this joint after my workout, and definitely didn't feel like I'd overdone it after a hard workout. However, if you're in the mood, there is always cake for dessert. This place is amazing in every way possible. Great for breakfast, lunch or just grabbing a cup of coffee or tea. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito which I like to get with egg whites, add pancetta and spinach too. It is the perfect amount of eggs, meat and cheese and is just yummy. It comes with a little fresh fruit salad with a side of fresh pico. I have also been a fan of the quiche and granola which are good options as well, but I love this burrito most! For lunch I have been stuck on the kale and brussels sprouts salad which is a perfect blend the two with a lemon vignette and even though I adore the Italian chopped salad and the Brie with apples pressed sandwich (which is my wife's top pick) I just cannot get away from this kale and brussels sprouts salad! The iced coffee has the option of coffee cubes with the coffee which add a unique flavor to the already fulfilling beverage. The small French press is also a regular I go with and is two cups of goodness. The decor is perfect. High ceilings with elegant lighting and artistic reflection composed through mirrors lining the back wall. The menu on the front wall is hand drawn with a perfect looking typeface style with minimal outlines of menu items. It just looks so perfect... I don't try and camp out here, but have it be known that they have wifi and plugs under the seats and it is a great spot to meet for breakfast or lunch with adequate free parking around. The only negative with me is that it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and when I want an awesome breakfast, lunch or coffee I am guessing I will have to come to grasps with paying a little more for it. So my review is of their chia. I went on a Sunday night. I ordered a cold chai. I have never had a more chalky chai. It was not mixed well enough. They use a powder to make there chai, which is fine, that is what I do at home, but you don't just leave all the powder in the drink, the hot water should dissolve it. So my drink was awful sadly, and the service wasn't great either. I had looked forward to checking out this place, the pictures on yelp made this place look amazing. The decorations look great, and other people seem to enjoy it, so if you go and want to check it out don't get the chai. read more

How much do I have to pay to eat as well as my grandparents did when they were just hanging on to a plumbing business in the Great Depression? This was the era when refrigeration was new and fertilizers were not based on the oil industry. Needless to say there was no Monsanto and no garlic irradiated in China. Quite simply they advertise "farm to table" but they take a fairly well baked quality Quiche and pop out it into the microwave oven to heat it up "for you". This seems to be done by a friendly enough staff on auto-pilot. Eh voila, what should be crusty is reduced to hot-on-the-inside and cold-on-the-outside moosh. (Yes, my word.) Point is that this is a pricey joint and the coffee was okay, nothing to write mom about though. The Quiche was better than average, but I have had spectacular Quiche and it was less expensive, point also is. Get it? Someone had sugar-plum-fairy ideals in mind about a really fine, healthy, fair-priced cafe way back when - and then someone hatched a business plan. E.G: They are about to open another joint. And you know that the more joints a cafe/restaurant opens the further away dance the sugar-plumb-fairies and the more corporate the operation. Then the MBAs move in - and it's over. This place is one of my husbands favorites so we come here often. It's a decent coffee shop but the service is always just okay...no one goes out if their way to make you feel welcome. Barely say hello, mainly just take the order and move on to what or who's next. Coffee is good - I like to order the French Press which is a dark smoky roast. We've ate here a few times and although the items we've tried are good the prices are high. Seems in the new year prices have gone up again. I honestly come here 1-2 times a day. As much as I love the decor (and it's a lot), I love the food even more! I'm surprised my tax accountant hasn't asked me why I have 300 receipts from here lol. Even the water down next day version is still better than a freshly made one from Starbucks. Parking is tough on the weekend because of the Porto's crowd. Never ate here because I don't have kids that are old enough to sit still for 5 min while their mother is getting caffeinated. Workers please take note when you see a mother with a stroller and pissed off baby or toddler waiting in line, kindly shut the trap and stop spending 5 minutes chitchatting with every customer before her. I truly love this place so much! Their espresso is always so smooth and flavorful, not to mention their amazing customer service, as well! If I was just rating this based on drinks, I would give it 5/5. However, the most recent time I went (because I do come here often), I ordered a slice of the birthday cake. It was $7.50, which in my opinion is super pricey, especially considered Porto's is down the street and much cheaper. While the cake was moist, the frosting had a weird berry flavor, almost like you could taste it was an artificial flavor. Came for a first time visit today. Bill came out to ~$45 for two sandwiches, 2 coffees and a personal monkey bread. The star of the show was the monkey bread for sure- delicious! The latte and chai lattes we ordered were also yummy. The sandwiches were pretty lackluster. Boyfriend ordered a vegan grilled cheese that came out completely cold? Like nothing on it had been heated at any point, so it was basically just a cold cheese sandwich. I had the curry chicken sandwich, which was decent, but I would have just called it chicken salad. My ultimate favorite is the chai! I've never tasted a chai like this anywhere else. But this is what I got for ya: I ordered their Brie & Apples "Pressed Sammie" (brie, apples, caramelized onions) on ciabatta bread. It also comes with a little mixed greens salad. I thought it was really good and a unique combination of flavors. I want it again. My friend ordered the Smoked Salmon Wrap (with cream cheese, English cucumber, and arugula on a spinach wrap) and didn't personally care for it. It was no matter, though; when she gave it back, the awesome guy behind the counter gave her another sandwich with no extra charge, just wanting to make sure she got something she liked! He was great. She got the Ham & Cheddar (with mayo and grainy mustard) on their walnut raisin bread and it was a perfect fit. It's a bit pricey for the quantity, but I'm pretty frugal. Even so, I definitely want to go back. A+ job for the dude who worked there, and the place is designed gorgeously. read more

Not a good place to study or work. They have a policy plastered all over the windows that you cannot use any tablets, laptops etc during the hours of 11am-2pm Monday- Friday. I really enjoy Romancing The Bean. The drinks and baked goods I've had have always been wonderful. The food has been good and the ambience is great. I love meeting people here or grabbing a coffee while getting my toddler a "treat". I love how they have a children's table. That's very nice and welcoming. They are somewhat pricey for what they are. I once paid over $10 for a sandwich that was literally eggs, cheese and a piece of lettuce. I thought it had prosciutto, but missed the additional line that said it was an extra $3. So that was a bummer and I don't get food-food here to often. Even the baked goods are each at least a dollar more than they should be... but they're still good. The only other issue I run into here when meeting people is that it's so popular that it's often hard to find a place to sit... but that's not their fault!
