The food in delicious and inexpensive BUT answering the phone seems to be a challenge for the staff -__-

Open super-late (usually 3:30-4:00 am) and great pizza. A frequent stop for lunch, dinner, and late night. I love this place.

dude, this is one of the only good pizza places open late at night. i went there at 3am on sat (technically sunday), and it was still open. For $3 bucks you can get a freakin' HUGE slice of pepperoni (or cheese) pizza, and its pretty darn good. and the pepperoni slices of meet are nice and crunchy on the edges...madd good. Mind you that most of the time i was drunk going into there, but still, i went once when i was sober,and it was still good! It reminds of me back at home in queens, nyc . I def would/ and do go back. i would eat here vs pete's across the street anyday! read more

Rome pizza is simply great. Not the best pizza in the world but a good solid normal slice of pizza, something that is very hard to find in NW DC. The cheese is good, the sauce is good, the dough is not too thin and not too thick AND they will even bake parm into the cheese on the pizza if you ask. But when it comes to customer service they are second to none. The owners are so kind and always accommodating and make being a patron of their establishment a true joy. DC's pizza delivery game isn't the best but when I lived in delivery distance from Rome the experience was always amazing. Now since I've moved to Silver Spring Romes is deeply missed in my delivery wheelhouse but every once in awhile I make the trip for a pick up order and everything is just as great as it has always been. read more

Great mozarella sticks, excellent chicken parm subs, tasty and well flavored chicken wngs, and even the gyros are ok. The bad part is that they are inconsistent with service. Delivery took an hour and a half one time. They have late hours which is good. I'd recommend it. read more

Stopped in for lunch today and it was basically a disaster. I ordered a meatball sub and it took 25 minutes for them to prepare it. The whole place was packed with people waiting for their orders which were eking out of the kitchen. Then I took it back to my office and they forgot to put hot peppers on as I had asked. The sandwich was ok, nothing to get excited over and no bargain. This may have only been open a few days, but they certainly have no system for preparing food. It was chaos. If you go, get a slice of pizza. Those are already prepared, and they were huge. read more

Just moved to Chevy Chase from NY and we were so glad to find this place. We were looking for something cheap, filling and available for delivery. This place totally fit the bill. Nice flavor, crispy crust, didn't love the flavor of the dough (but I think that's a regional thing). Also, delivery arrived exactly when expected, and came right to our apartment door- I expected that we would need to come down to the lobby. Will definitely be ordering from them again! read more

This neighborhood lunch joint has a hidden upstairs eating area, this upstairs eating area is equipped with a couple of very large firescreen TVs. Their pizzas are very much overrated, their is very little sauce on the pizzas, but from what I've had the calzones and strombolis are very good. (coming from a penny-pincher) The pizzas are a bit steep, but most of the other prices are fair. P.S. Stay away from the pizza fries. read more

Tried to order four pizzas for pick-up at 1pm. We made the complete order and then said they'd start making the Pizzas once we got there. We offered a credit card over the phone, but that wasn't acceptable. They needed us to wait 45 minutes in person. Perhaps they don't understand the point of pick-up convenience. We tried Rome when they first opened and were not so impressed. BUT, we went back and what an improvement. The Pizza was sensational and the salad was excellent. You may be tempted to get take out from Pete's, but resist the temptation and go to Rome. Your take-out pizza will be cheaper, faster and better. read more

Certainly not as hip and trendy as the other pizza place very close but in my opinion Rome makes better Pizza. My guess it is cheaper as well but I do not recall. Have ordered twice for visiting family and both mentioned how impressed they were. read more

I've heard conflicting reviews for this place. I'm a pretty big fan, though. They are great for late night, their pizzas are good (their crust seems like it's multigrain). Their chicken is fantastic though, I am huge fan of their Chicken Italiano Sub as it has a great mix of tangy and savory and goes great with the Utz Chips they include. Repeat costumer. read more

Great! Had the spaghetti and meatballs and the lasagna. The spaghetti was enormous and very tasty! Lasagna was good too. This was my second visit here and both times were spectacular. Had a sub the first time because I came to this location looking for a Quiznos. Glad I stayed after not finding Quiznos! The people are really nice as well. read more

After looking for a decent burger that could be delivered I gave Rome a try. Incredibly good burger, tender and cooked exactly as I asked. The fries are fantastic, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The $6.99 price tag (including fries) is very reasonable. My husband also loves their chocolate cake! read more

The food is good, solid pizzeria fare. We found this mom'n'pop place one day while looking for local pizza. It's right across the street from Pete's, so we decided to try them both & compare. Sadly, we still haven't made it to Pete's. Rome makes excellent pizza, but their menu is huge when you consider the size of the kitchen and the fact that the staff consists of two people! Good pasta, salads and subs as well as some of the tastiest pizza I've had for a while. Even their slowly-drying-under-the-heat-lamp by-the-slice pizza isn't awful (though I'd recommend a small freshly-made pie if you have the time). The dining room upstairs is light on ambience, but comfortable enough, and features a tv for lunchtime viewing. The only real negative I can think of is that they have no ice machine. So drink that soda before it starts to warm up! It's really just a good, relatively inexpensive (especially considering the neighborhood) pizza joint. Sorry for the delay, Pete. The pizza is solid but I cannot speak highly enough of the service! Two nights ago my boyfriend and I ordered a pizza for delivery. When the pizza arrived, the delivery man had forgotten our side. We told him and not only did he go back to the store (in the rain) and bring us double what we ordered but he also brought us cupcakes and apologized. Such a nice man and great cupcakes, it totally made our night! read more

The spaghetti marinara and pizza are just wonderful. The owners are lovely people who are very accomodating. I eaten there many times.

This is a family favorite! The wings are yummy--delicious sauce on the side! The pizza isn't too greasy, and the crust is perfectly crispy (not too doughy or floppy). My kids love this place. Delivery is tricky because they are constantly battling traffic (especially in rain, etc.). It is worth the wait, and the individuals working in the shop are all incredibly kind! read more

Order from them, took them 1hour 40 minutes to deliver the order (ordered at 11:48am, got my food at 1:30pm). Food was cold, beverage warm. Called them at the hour mark and after they kept me on hold for about 10 minutes they just said the order was on its way, would be here soon and hanged up on me. I came here accidentally at first, waiting for an appt down the street. The gyros are the best ever (haven't tried the other things on the menu so I can't opine), the price is good for DC, the people are nice, and they have an underappreciated upstairs dining room. To start, the pizza here isn't meant to shock you or to change your views of food forever. It's just normal take-out type pizza. But that doesn't mean it's not good. The food at Rome is good, and in some cases (the chicken caesar wrap) amazing. The restaurant is is open until quite late, making it convenient, and the service for pizza is quite fast any time. The pricing is also fantastic. You can buy a quite generously-sized slice of pizza for under four dollars! (By generously-sized, I mean more than a quarter or a pizza.) The delivery is fast, and it's in a great neighborhood location. read more

While the food may not be the top the of the line, the friendly workers, and late hours make up for Rome's culinary short comings. If you're looking for a more Gourmet experience then you call walk yourself across the street Pete's... Rome's fiil's a void in the area for cheap, affordable, non-chain pizza! Rome's is rather no frills and straight to the point, cheap decent pizza, and late hours on the weekends. They offer regular and jumbo pies, and jumbo slices are sold by the slice! While I mainly eat pizza at Rome's I have also ordered subs and even had the gelato, all of which have been great and affordable! read more

GREAT hours for students. People are extra friendly. Slices are large and superior to Angelico's.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but Rome has the best Stromboli in town. Plus their pasta and their prices are worth a drop in or call in for delivery. The sauce is homemade and their subs can't be beat. Get a lunch sub special and you'll feel like you paid too little since it's so good. read more
