I found Ron the Plumber on NextDoor and thought I could trust the reviews from my neighbor's experience, but apparently not. I caution anyone to let this plumber in their home for any reason after my experience with him today. If there's one thing I will never do is allow someone in my home to disrespect me or speak to me in a condescending manner, especially when I know I am kind, polite, and courteous. Well, that's exactly what he did. He initially came to my home a week ago to repair what he claims was a clogged toilet that is barely used. After "repairing" it, the same issue persisted not even a week later. So, I contacted him considering there might be something more serious going on. You would think someone who is running a business would want to know where they may have gone wrong or how they can be of more assistance. Not this guy. He arrived within the timeframe he stated with a smile. But don't be fooled by that because there's a very nasty attitude behind it. It started with his curt and defensive text messages. Normally, that's enough for me not do business with someone but I let it slide considering the true tone someone is using isn't always what you think it is via text messages. Either way, he arrived at my home, did a quick evaluation of the toilet and assessed it to be simply be clogged. I needed more information than that. When I asked if there could be more to it, he again got defensive and said "I can't be responsible for this". I told him I wasn't holding him responsible. I wanted to know the science of what's going on (i.e. is the water level too low, is the part that was replaced from another plumber faulty, etc.). Basic questions any rational customer would have. He replied smartly that I "should just get another toilet." I then tried to level with this man considering he may have had a string of bad customers trying to take advantage of him and assure him that that was not what I was trying to do. But then I realized he was purposefully being nasty towards me as if to say "who do I think I am to ask him anything". It was definitely time for him to go then. After not even 15 minutes in my home and answering my basic questions he makes his way to the bottom of my stairs and says "I charge $85.00 for house calls." I responded in a surprised tone and asked him he were serious...to be sure I heard him correctly. I had just paid him $150.00 not even a week before for less than 30 minutes of work and now he wants $85 more dollars for evaluating a job that he supposedly fixed? No...we would definitely need to discuss that. Apparently that triggered the anger that was already surfacing in him because in a very hostile manner he said, "You know what. I won't charge you. Just find another plumber." Again, I am shocked and said, "What?" So, he says, Yeah, well if you're gonna ask me if I'm kidding, then yeah, don't worry about it." First of all, I am not a child. This little form of retaliation for asking a question any person would ask after hearing what he wanted to charge me and then the way he escalated prompted me to ask him if he were having a bad day. I also told him that I would pay him, but he was too busy rushing out of my home. Which was a good thing because he knows he shouldn't have even mentioned charging me in the first place. And for the record, I never let anyone perform work for me for free. Even if I don't agree with the price or the work, one should always be interested in having a conversation with a customer, engage in possible negotiations if the work and the price don't align, and try to be fair. Ron's behavior towards me said very clearly that he thinks I am disposable, I don't deserve a conversation, and I surely don't have the right to ask him anything even if he didn't provide a price list. Well, here's my message to you: You are only as good as your last customer. Having respect and building a trusting relationship for the residents in this community extends much further than a quick dollar. Community: Do yourselves a favor and find another plumber. read more

My kitchen faucet died abruptly - would no longer pull out to spray. Ron was able to come out the next day and replace it with one I picked up at Lowe's. It now works MUCH better than before, and I couldn't be more happy. He was courteous, clean, prompt, and very enjoyable to chat with. What can I say? Ron the Plumber is the BEST!!! We have used their service on three separate occasions. I recommend them to all of my friends and family. Professional. Prompt. Affordable. Today, we had three frozen pipes burst in our home due to the weather. Ron was booked but promised that he'd call if there was an opening. Fortunately, he had an opening less than three hours later. He arrived at our home within the promised time frame, quickly assessed the issue, repaired it, and left the space clean. He made some maintenance recommendations without any hard sell. Did a great job with a plumbing problem in my residence. I had a badly clogged sink drain snaked open and a garbage disposal replaced. They were prompt and the price was reasonable for the considerable amount of work required. I would use them again if I have any more problems in the future. read more

Ron seems to have changed since these two reviews posted. My husband called Ron the plumber to come and look at the toilet in our children's bathroom. Whenever the bathroom is used for something other than let's just say liquid... The toilet clogs. We were not home at the time he came, but my parents were visiting and waited for him to come over. According to their report, he used a snake and was done in 5 minutes and reported that the "toilet flushes better than it ever has." He doesn't live here so I can't take his word for that. In any event, once the toilet was actually used, it overflowed and had to be pumped. I called and left a message for the plumber, his name is Dave. He called back today and as I'm explaining what happened, he complains to me about his pen that my mother drove off with (another lie) and that the owners weren't home. I explained to him that as long as someone over the age of 18 is home there shouldn't be an issue for services to be rendered. Also, a plumber usually doesn't express an issue to come back out to look at work they have done if you call the same day. This man hung up on me. I left another message to speak with the owner and Dave called back again. Yelled at my husband and hung up on him as well. $167 later we still have the same problem. Dave is a plumber, Dave does more complaining than fixing, Dave claims his fixes things but refuses to get details. Don't get a plumber like Dave (if that's his real name). read more

Seemed competent when I made the appointment, but quickly went downhill. The plumber dispatched -- Dave -- called on his way, but seemed to have no idea what the job was, so delayed to the next Monday so he could get parts. Charged over $1000 for 5 hours of work installing a vanity and fixing a shower handle. Dave from RtP was not capable of fixing the hole in the wall he made, properly grouting the new shower handle/head to the wall, or securing the vanity to studs, so had to use another handyman he recommend for that. Other guy pointed out that Dave had installed the wrong kind of piping behind the showerhead, so it could not be properly attached to the wall. Would not recommend. read more

Experienced a leak in my home and called Ron the Plumber since his stickers were all over my plumbing in the basement. Ron came out, didn't put much effort into finding the leak. Suggested that he could remount the powder room toilet. As he left, with my pocket $180 lighter, he indicated hat if this didn't work to give him a call in a week and he would re-access. Ended up having to pay for another plumber to come out and identify the problem along with ServPro to dry my house and prevent mold. read more

We have had them out for 2 service calls. The 2nd one was today. Excellent service. We called yesterday afternoon after finding we had water coming though the ceiling from the bathroom above. It wasn't an emergency (not gushing, just found a water mark). The said they could be here in the morning. Ron (the younger) came out on this visit. The first visit Ron (the original) came out. Ron showed up, worked quickly, found the problem and explained it clearly to us as well as our options and completed the repairs quickly and without making a mess. And he also is very friendly. He was very professional, knew his stuff and how to turn a most challenging situation into one that not only resolved multiple leaks, but made it better and more accessible than before. I have had Ron the Plumber out to my house over the course of 30 years to fix many things. A new hot water heater, leaky pipes, new hose bib for the back yard, backed up toilets and sinks, etc. I have mostly dealt with Ron Sr or his son Ron for all repairs and have been extremely satisfied with their courtesy and work. About a month ago, I called Ron the Plumber and Dave was sent to do the job, (install a new hose bib in the front of the house and clear a slow draining sink in the master bath). He snaked my bathroom sink and replaced a hose bib in the front of the house, for $390. This morning, while brushing my teeth, the one sink completely clogged, and the other sink in that bathroom clogged too, and water standing water backed up in both sinks. In addition, the hose bib was installed improperly, so that when it is flush with the brick on the outside of the house, it sticks out from the drywall wall in the inside of the house. As a consequence, we have been unable to repair the drywall due to the protruding pipe. I am SO disappointed with that service by Dave. I must try to reach out to Ron the Plumber again, and I will request a different plumber be sent, (not Dave). read more
