Stopped by after taking the girls for a swim and was saddened because we have always wanted to try this place, but the selection was sorely lacking. They had brownies, marshmallow pops and Rice Krispie treats with fruity pebbles in them. (Yuck on the fruity pebbles...). That's it. No cupcakes, no cookies, nothing to grab a dozen of to take home. We got 2 brownies to share to go - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Rocky Road. They were good, not great. I was very disappointed. I don't live in the area. My family lives in Greenfield and we wanted a great cake and cupcakes for my 1st Baby Shower. Searched around and came across this place. Spoke to cake maker, sorry forgot her name and explained to her that I was having a Superman Baby Shower and wanted Blue Velvet cupcakes and a Superman Theme cake. I got 3 dozen of green blue cupcakes not the blue velvet that I saw and imagined and a blue icing cake. Other than it had red, blue and yellow chocolate candy on it, there was NO connection to my theme. Oh and NO decoration at all! Blue icing on the cake and my blue Velvet cupcakes did not have the creamcheese icing I requested. I gave it 3 stars because the cake was delicious BUT I was really really disappointed on the presentation and cupcakes. I sent my Husband and Brother to pick it up so I didn't see it until they arrived to my shower. Sad to say it was nothing like what I expected and imagined. If you want a delicious but plain Jane cake this is your spot. I would not order blue velvet cupcakes though. Like everyone was calling them at the party it was more like Superman's Krytonite color. This place has cute dessert, mostly just dessert bars, overpriced for what they are and the customer service is awful! You would think a square bar for $3.50 is going to blow your mind! Well...it's certainly a hit or miss. But the real tragedy is the customer service. Even if a place was a bit more money than I usually spend but the people are nice...I usually come back. But just because of the lack of care, I definitely won't be coming back. I first saw this place when I was planning my wedding and needed a cake. I got an email back within a week. I replied and never heard from them again. Even after trying to reach out several times I finally just drove over and walked in. We didn't like the flavors of cake...or lack of flavor. But that was months ago. Then I saw they had a groupon and thought, well with a groupon I could afford it! So I spoke with a woman regarding getting desserts for my wedding, told her all the details including when we would pick them up. The morning of the wedding, my sister calls and they were closed!! After all that planning, the lady forgot to tell us they would be closed that day. Thank you Nothing Bundt Cakes and Whole Foods for saving the day! Now we are stuck with these groupons, so today we decided we would come back and use them for a dinner party we are going tonight. I pick them out, including a cute turkey that I thought would be perfect for the fall/thanksgiving theme! The girl puts them in the box, the box is held the 5 minutes drive home, I open the box and the head from the turkey was completely broken off! When the girl closed the box, the cardboard sides must have hit the head because it was right in that position without me even touching 1 dessert in the box. So I called politely because I understand mistakes happen and they told me they can not do an exchange for a new dessert. When I told her what happened she said well, she disnt know if she broke it. WOW, yes, best thing to do at this point is blame the customer. Smart. So now I need to bring a turkey with a severed head... Because a cookie that cost them near nothing is worth losing customers I suppose. The cupcakes were extremely dry, the sugar cookies, while pretty lacked flavor, the brownies were inconsistently baked (crunchy around the edges & "raw" in the middle) & didn't have that "chocolaty" flavor you crave when eating a brownie, the banana bread tasted like it had been baked then frozen & thawed, and the chocolate chip cookies were crumbly and tasteless. Ordered a custom cake and cupcakes for a birthday. You should know I'm an absolute frosting nut, not the wimpy whipped cream frosting the posers all pretend to like because it's "healthier". Bah. Im talking about the thick rich buttercream that instantly takes an hour off your lifespan. Here goes... Cupcakes: Adorable in presentation. But... The cake was dry. There was too much frosting (see above). The frosting should compliment the cake, not be the only thing you taste. Plus at $4.50 a cupcake is was extremely overpriced. The legendary Sprikles cupcakes are $3.50 (and worth ever damned penny) Brownie: Salted Caramel; fair hard/dry brownie, again with over an inch of frosting, on a brownie that was 1/2 inch. You could have had a ritz under there, you wouldn't know. Cake: We ordered a cheetah print cake with a blue bow, and cheetah print cake inside (which they said was a specialty they did) . While the cake was pretty, the fondant had huge bubbles where the fondant detached, the fondant was so thick it was impossible to cut neatly -it just smushed unless you sawed through. The inside of the cake had no recognizable cheetah spots, just mis-mosh black smudges, or it was bare/plain cake. The taste was so bad I only gave it to the kids and I was utterly embarrassed to serve it to the adults who left most of the slice on their plates. No one wanted seconds and I had 3/4 of a cake left from a 12 inch round for 20 people. Bad, and this was my daughters big 13th. Sooo dissapointing Here's my take. Their cake is just plain bad. Safeway is tastier. Go elsewhere They do not know how to bake. I didn't heed the Yelp reviews this time (and I usually do) and I had the same problems as the others. read more

I visited Monterey for the 1st time last year and wanted to end my evening with a sweet dessert to bring back to our suite. I found this listing on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. The store front is SOOOOO ridiciously cute that it set our expectations too high! We walked out with a lot of cute items but I was confident that my 7 year old could put together a better dessert bar. I can't waste my calorie consumption on things that simply do not taste good! I order two cakes from here, one for my birthday and the other for Mother's Day. I was pretty surprise on their pricing. $30 for each medium cake. My birthday cake was chocolate and Italian wedding cake with a raspberry filling. I must say it was super delicious. The raspberries are not in a spread or jelly type of spread it's a buttercream with fresh raspberries. I loved it. It was delicious. The next day I got my Mother's Day cake for my mom. I was suppose to be Italian wedding cake with strawberry filling and strawberry bottom layer. When we cut the cake it all looked like Italian wedding cake. I swear it rarely had any fresh strawberries in the filling more buttercream than anything. There was fresh strawberries on the very bottom of the cake which made me wonder if that's how they make strawberry cake. All I know is that my mom was pretty disappointed compare to my birthday cake. I loved the birthday cake but not so much the Mother's Day cake. First of all I liked the way I was helped by the young lady very helpful. But here is the reason why I gave it 3 stars, I purchased some cupcakes just a few days ago and unfortunately the cupcakes felt stale and hard not soft. I thought it was only me, but gave one to my husband and brother and they also said they tasted as if they were done maybe the day before. I have purchased some other cupcakes at other places and the cake don't feel hard. The good thing I have small children and nieces that ate them. Myself and six friends booked the 6pm Sugar Cookie experience at Room for Dessert and the owner Tammy was there as our personal coach/teacher. She was an excellent instructor, the kitchen was immaculate and so fun to work in, and we all surprised ourselves on how well we could decorate a dozen of our very own sugar cookies. After two hours of fun, we took home our creations and shared them with our families. My husband took a photo, then proceeded to gobble them up. I recently used Room For Dessert for my wedding. We had one large 3-tier cake (snickerdoodle) and three mini cupcake flavors (Boston cream pie, chocolate ganache, and red velvet). The cake and cupcakes were all delicious and very cute. The cake came out beautifully, decorated with the same flowers used in the reception decor. Tammy (the owner) did a great job of decorating the cake table and had high quality cake stands to display everything on. We booked Room For Dessert based on a recommendation from a friend and after meeting Tammy in-person. She is no nice and friendly and I was impressed with her level of customer service right off the bat. In fact, after meeting Tammy we canceled a cake tasting at another very popular bakery in the area because their customer service just wasn't on par with Tammy. Towards the end of the planning process it became a bit more difficult to reach her via email, but in the end everything came out 100% as planned so no complaints. Tammy is a true artist. She also made a custom groom's cake for the wedding and worked with me to narrow down the perfect design. The groom's cake was a huge hit! VERY disappointed. I met with Tammi months before my wedding. She took down all my information and never contacted me after that. I had to call several times and her staff could not help me. The week if the wedding she threatened to cancel my order if I did not pay my balance. I was unaware I had one and in the email asking me to pay the balance was not noted. Room for Dessert made us our cake pops for our wedding. Working with Tammy was really easy. We were from out of town, and so we actually never met her in person and did all of our coordination by phone and email. We did go by the store once to get a tasting box. Tammy put together an amazing spread for us to pick up and take with us for our tasting. We really loved her cake flavors, especially the Italian Wedding, as it went really well with a number of her frosting flavors (which were all really great). Despite this, we actually decided to go the route of cake pops, so we did them in the Italian Wedding flavor of cake with a white chocolate coating. Tammy got our colors perfect, the delivery was on time, and her staff helped with the display which turned out beautifully. We used her for half of our dessert options and then the other half of our dessert display was brownies that we brought in from Ohio at my mom's request. Tammy's staff helped us to display both their items and what we brought in, which was amazing! The cake pops were great, and the left-overs were enjoyed for a few days after. I read some not so great reviews on here, but thought I'd try it anyway. I got some cupcakes for my son's birthday. They are $2.50 each. No price break for ordering a full dozen etc. They only had two kinds available. One was strawberry shortcake and one was kind of a coffee flavor with an espresso bean on top. I knew the cupcake was a flop when a 9 year old at my party left his sitting half eaten and never finished it (the strawberry one). My son barely ate his too. I tried one and it was extremely dry and the frosting was super hard. I don't know how old it was but it must have been a few days old. Both flavors of cupcakes were equally dry. I would give one star but I could tell the cupcake had potential. It was probably very good when it was fresh. I thought the girl at the counter was friendly, but I will go elsewhere from now on. Weekend getaway in Monterey with the boyfriend and we were looking for places we had never tried before. Stumbled across this shop and we were so pleased! The blondie brownie and the cookie dough brownie were soooo good!!! My boyfriend also said that the banana bread was the best he has ever had. I talked to the owner who said she wasn't available the weekend my daughter was flying in but she took her telephone number and email account. She said she would arrange to have some samples available even though she won't be there. She never contacted us. Very sad, such poor service and we heard their pies were great.
