I took my 1996 Outback Impreza to Roos Only from 2006 to 2011, and Baki and the folks at Roos Only kept it running from 136K to 220K. In all that time, I never went anywhere else for repairs except for one emergency -- in that instance, a reputed Denver garage fixed my problem and told me I needed another $3600 in repairs (which Roos Only later told me was incorrect). Every oil change, we discussed what the mechanics saw, and fixed the small things that were breaking down over the thousands of miles. If I had money, we'd fix what was wrong, and if not, I'd bring it back in a few weeks. We put in a new clutch and new transmission (among other things), and the car kept rolling. One of the nagging issues with the car was that the (original) A/C compressor was breaking down, an expensive repair I never really had money for ($1300, quoted at Roos and elsewhere). At one point, I told Baki that the A/C compressor was turning on when I used the defrost, and I was afraid it would finally blow up, requiring a replacement of the entire air conditioning system. He walked out the front door of the shop, opened the hood of the car, unplugged the A/C compressor, and said, "There. When you get some money, we'll get it fixed." I've had nothing but good experiences with Baki and the rest of the staff at Roos Only -- it always felt like we had the same goal, of keeping my old Subaru running as long as possible. I never got the fear-mongering sales pitch I've had at a couple different places in the Denver area, and sent lots of friends all the way to Englewood to get work done at Roos Only. read more

I was referred to Roos, showed up with my 2011 Outback with a lift. They were clearly busy, I patiently waited my turn. I explained my issues. A specialist came out and spoke personally to me and set up an appointment for me the following morning. As I arrived the next morning they promptly brought my vehicle in for diagnostics. I had answers within 30 min. They were so friendly. I brought my service dog Denver and as we waited in the waiting room the owner even accommodated us with coffee, water and dog treats :). You would think that when a business claims to specialize in a specific car brand, they really know what they are doing, and they stand above the rest. After paying over $300 to get my husband's car towed to Roos Only, the diagnostic was "you need a "rebuilt" new transmission, over $1,800.00 Regrettably, my husband is not a car guy, and he tends to trust people quite easily, so although he said he shopped around, he decided to stay with Roos. Car gets new rebuilt transmission, and when he drives it out of the lot within 5 minutes the car starts stalling at every red light. Return to shop, they say problem fixed. A few days later, guess what, car starts stalling at red lights and now even when he would slow down. Return to shop. they say problem fixed. A few days later, you got it, stalling happens again. Now, the definition of insanity is "doing the same thing, over and over again, expecting a different result." (Mark Twain). So we did not take the car back to Roos, instead took it to a friend who knows more about cars than my husband, and as soon as they opened the hood, they found a major hose that does this that and the other thing, completely loose. Our friend connected the hose, fixed the problem. I must say the replaced transmission seems to be working well, after all the right hoses and cables have been properly connected, however, the repetition of visits to address the same problem leaves a lot to be desired. Next time, I will not assume Roos will be the best specialized choice for my husband's Subaru. I will do the research, like all of you do, and read what the common folks have to say. read more

Excellent place. I went in for a big repair (head gaskets!). Rocky and Travis explained everything they were doing and why. They also got the work turned around in half the time they expected. I'm updating this review from 1 to 3 stars after learning from my wife just how friendly and helpful the owner of this shop has been towards her and our kids. That said, they advertise a full diagnostic inspection at each change, but didn't mention that our alignment was off until two of the tires were almost entirely bald. When I called to express my concern, the guy I spoke with was definitely not the owner. He wasn't exactly rude, but he certainly wasn't friendly. If you are a Subaru owner, your dealer service days are over! Originally, I went to Roos Only because I needed a new alternator on my 2004 Outback. Every dealer I called told me that a rebuilt alternator wasn't available, hence the cost was over $1000. When I called Roos Only, I was told that of course a rebuilt alternator was available. My car was fixed at a reasonable price, and off I drove, a happy customer. Recently I needed a headlight replaced, so I went back and found the same friendly, professional service. I even got a discount for being a return customer. I feel confident that no one is telling me I need work that I don't, and will go back as long as my old car runs. Friendly, honest and efficient. As someone who has been taking my 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport to Subaru dealerships for service since I bought it (I have had terrible luck with cars and have been too paranoid to take it anywhere else), it was nice to find a shop that only works on Subarus for a lower price than the dealership. I lived in the area and used Roos Only a number of times for oil changes. Last time I was there they approached my and told me that my 2003 Subaru wagon was in need of a new head gasket and that if I didn't act soon my engine would seize. I started saving for the expensive job and during that time took my car to a reputable Subaru shop for an oil change. When there I asked them to check the head gasket and see if the problem was worse. They looked it over and came back confused by my request. They said there was nothing wrong with the head gasket and that anyone who looked at the engine would see that immediately. These guys will tell you that all Subaru's in that age range are known for failing head gaskets and then scare you with the cost of a new engine if you don't have the work done. Luckily I didn't have the work done and got a second opinion. Bottom Line: Go somewhere else!! read more

So I should have wrote a review a while ago, because this team definitely deserves more than 1.5 stars! I first came to them 5 years ago or so for one of the bigger maintainence jobs. Second I came for my 105k mile timing belt replacement. They have always been honest, reliable, and straight with me about everything to keep my car in great shape but to also not put any unnecessary holes in my wallet. I've recently come to them for second opinions for recommended services and costly jobs recommend by the dealership. They always always gave me their honest opinion and backed it up with a thorough explanation. You can tell they are passionate about their job and helping their customers feel the same love for their Subie. It also was so nice to have the option of a loaner car. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS SHOP!!! I had bought a subaru from the owner Rocky, about a year later we needed to replace the transmission and I took it back to him. After paying close to 2k for a new transmission from his shop, not even 10 months later my transmission has blown up. I called Rocky to see if he could possibly help me and he refuses to help with any sort of discount or warranty on his work. His website guarantees a 1 year labor warranty and this is a complete lie. He refused to help me in any sort of way even though myself and my family have been longtime customers and bought the car from him. At the very least he should have backed up the labor warranty on his work. When discussing this issue on the phone Rocky was very eager to get off the phone because it was the start to his weekend and he suggested that I get a new car because mines "too old". The worst part of this entire experience with this terrible mechanic shop was that not even a month before my transmission and clutch blew, I had taken my car in for a 200k mile check up and was reassured everything was running great. I paid them 55$ for absolutely nothing! They should have been able to tell that my transmission clutch were having issues. All this shop wants is your money and has no care for their customers. I love this place! I took my Outback there a couple of months ago which has over 100k miles because it had a burning smell, I had taken it to other places and they never fixed the problem. It was my head gaskets which is a common problem with Subarus over 100k. Roos only fixed it and I have not had a problem since. I took it in for an oil change today and had the same great service! I am a first time Subaru owner and love my car. I believe I will own Subarus for many years to come, so imagine how happy I am that I have found a great service shop for my car. I started looking for a shop after the Subaru dealership I had been taking my car to gave me an estimate for a couple thousand dollars worth of work. As a smart consumer, I decided that I wanted a second opinion and reached out to other Subaru owners. Roos Only was mentioned more than once as the place I should go. They did a thorough check of my car and gave me an education on what I should and should not repair on my car. Many of the items did not need repaired. The total cost was a fraction of what I had been quoted at the dealership. I have been back for regular maintenance on my car and have been very pleased. Also, when I asked about the non-working dome light that had been broken, they said that it was just a loose bulb and they tightened it. No charge. Very very very disappointed. Do not go to this place whatever you do! I had my engine rebuilt here almost a year ago, I've put 20,000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Since then it was required I take my car in for services to not void the warranty. I recently have been driving back and fourth about 4 hours a day for the last week about 160 miles a day. My car was doing just fine and I took it in to get the oil changed and they told me my serpentine belts were cracking, which shouldn't even be possible considering they rebuilt my engine 20,000 miles ago, which means they never changed the belts on my "rebuilt engine." They also told me I needed a 120,000 Mile service, when my engine only has 20,000 miles on it since it's been rebuilt by them so it should be in their records. That same day almost an hour later I started experiencing a bad whine when I would turn and 5 miles later the whine was going with my rpms Even going straight and another 2 Miles later the whine was just Constantly there even with my idle I took it to midas and explained my situation, they told me the belts that were on it were way more then cracking they were completely stripped and that there's no way they replaced the belts when they rebuilt the engine which is stupid because that's common sense to include new belts with a rebuilt engine. They said that it could be my Power steering that's making the whine noise but with how bad the belts were it could just be the belts, so they replaced the belts and still my car is making the whine. Kind of funny how that starts after my oil change at roos only. Even midas agrees that it's a very rare coincidence. Last time I ever let a roos only mechanic touch my car, on top of that roos wanted 150$ to change my belts while midas did it for 70$. I highly suggest not go here, cannot be trusted. read more

Lost a lot of money dealing with Roos Only in Denver. I bought a 2000 Forester from the owner since he had given it two thumbs up. After new tires, Oil Change (that's right, he didn't even change the oil before selling it to me), wipers, headlight bulb and so forth, I set off for a trip through the southwest in my, what I considered to be, reliable subaru that I could count on for years, especially since the mileage was pretty low for a subi! The viscus cuplar started in around Grand Junction and then the Catalytic Converter caused the engine light to come on around Tuscon. In El Paso, they wanted $1800 and couldn't start work for a few days. I needed to get back to Denver, so I traded it in for half of what I paid Baki at Roos Only. I lost about $4000 in 45 days! First of all I never once got to speak to the mechanic that worked on my car. Therefore the work to be done was not explained in detail, eg. how much they charge per hour and if they have a markup on parts. I never viewed the problem they claimed to find nor the location of the parts to be replaced. After the work was done i did not see the old parts they had replaced. The prices they charged after I researched them online were way higher then market. I have no idea where they get their parts and how much they paid and what they charged me. If you do let them work on your car make sure they explain the work to be done up front and what they charge per hour. Make sure they explain and show you what parts they will replace up front. Have them agree to mark the old parts they will replace. After they are done with the repair have them give you your old marked parts. Have them agree give you a receipt to show you how much they paid for the parts and where they were purchased. Make sure they explain the warranty on the work and parts. Most important know how to contact your better business bureau. read more

I have been coming here for 3 years with my Subaru. The service is outstanding and I've been able to get in same day for more urgent mechanical problems! The cost of routine maintenance is much more reasonable than at a Subaru dealer. I've had all my routine maintenance done here, and have never had problems. The customer service is great too! I strongly recommend using this mechanic if you have a Subaru. They are able to let you know what's going on, but it's a low pressure environment. read more

Either incompetent or downright dishonest. I had a 2001 Subaru that I was planning to sell, but it had a gas smell when driving, so I took it in to get that fixed as well as get the car checked out in case there was anything else I needed to do in order to make it safe to sell. Oh, and let me know if the headlight can be repaired, I said. They called back with a list of things that the car needed that was a mile long, and would have cost much much more than the car was worth. "And what about the headlight?" I asked. "Oh, that just needs a new bulb," they said. "No, I told you when I brought it in, I just put a new bulb in it, but the clip will no longer hold tension against the bulb, and I'd like to know if it can be repaired." "Oh, ok, we'll take a look." They called back and said that it couldn't be repaired and that I'd need a whole new headlight, it would cost $400. "Why so much?" I asked. "Well, we have to get them from Japan." I had them do the minimal fix to the exhaust system and got my car out of there as quickly as I could. I then went online and ordered two new headlights for $140, and put them in myself. I'm incredibly angry that they thought they could pull such a stunt, especially if they were trying to take advantage of me due to my being female! News flash, I'm pretty handy and can change my own d*#n headlights if you're going to pull that kind of crap! tldr: If you're female, don't go here. They'll try to scam you! read more
