Big Big Big!! Portions! First off you can't missed the giant rooster sign which I think is pretty cool! I got the southern style chicken salad which adds in a little relish and it was amazing. Three scoops might have been a little much if you look at the size of my sandwich. The salads were also tremendous with tons of flavor and once again a huge portion. After searching for a new breakfast place in New Braunfels, we settled on trying Roost. So glad we did. We were greeted with happy, smiling ladies who helped us navigate the yummy looking menu. I had to try their specially, chicken salad sandwiches and choose the Southern Style on croissant. Yum, it was delicious. Roost is a breakfast & chicken salad deli that just opened in Freiheit Village (off Creekside) in New Braunfels TX. The Brown Sugar Pecan Pancakes were outstanding! Highly Recommend!! Not only were they topped with whip cream and candied pecans, but pecans were actually inside the batter. This resulted in a decadent pancake with pecans throughout....yum! My daughter tried the Turkey Avocado Club and it was delish and HUGE; truly a Texas sized sammy! Definitely give this place a shot. Its affordable, pretty quick service & food is excellent. Menu is not huge, but enough variety to keep things interesting. We will definitely be back for the Pineapple Upside down Pancakes. read more

I opted for BBQ, Thai Peanut, Honey Walnut, Macademia Nut with Coconut, Curry and Tuna Salad. It was good but I was not blown away. I felt the Curry, Tuna and BBQ were dry. Unfortunately, there is no handicap accessible ramp or parking. I recently had back surgery and had to step up 3 steps, which means I could not use my rollator/walker for assistance. When I inquired inside they said it was in the back of the building which is inaccessible due to concrete and other work trucks. read more

I believe New Braunfels needs more quality breakfast places. Roost is not there yet, but has potential to be. The location is great, although Maps takes you to the back entrance of the building. I had to move my car because there isn't a way to walk around, unless you walk through their drive-thru or enter by bathroom area. The place is bright and clean, but the noise level indicates the music should be lower. The metal roof and hard surfaces will create and uninviting atmosphere when noise bounces off. They may want to consider using noise canceling wall panels. Roost should be mindful that a trash can with dirty plates at the main entrance will be uninviting and unpleasant. I sat by the door for 45 minutes and the staff came and went and never removed the stack of dirty dishes from the front door, in fact, the person in charge brought more dirty dishes and stacked them up. Why not take them to the dishwashing station? Coffee, coffee, coffee! It is important to offer a good quality coffee when you serve breakfast. I told the food runner that the coffee was very watered down. She said they need to change the coffee brand. I said that they may want to consider adding more coffee when making it. She obviously mentioned it to the supervisor. A group congregated by coffee maker and it appears they made a new batch. However, nobody came by to mention they had corrected the problem. The temperature of the coffee was very hot and disposable cups were not insulated. I decided to just have the free water. Roost, If you invest in offering Espresso drinks, it will pay off for you. This will create a better experience for customers. Consider keeping the drink serving and storage station behind the counter. Specially as the equipment takes up all the space on the "self-service" beverage area and there is no place to set cups down. Hard to prep coffee when you can't put it down. Speed and pace was very good. I ordered the breakfast pancake and plate. Unfortunately, the sausage patty was straight from the package. The eggs and potatoes were good. The 3 pancakes were a nice golden color and had good flavor and consistency. read more

What an excellent breakfast spot for a group. We are an 8-top and everyone had a breakfast combo of choice. Pancakes, yes. Potatoes, yes. Chicken salad sandwich, yes! There was plenty of room for all of us to dine comfortably and still have a chatty meal as a family. The diner is super clean and well lit and everyone was very very nice. My wife and I went for breakfast today. She's been wanting to try out the breakfast foods for sometime. She ordered the classic breakfast with sausage and I ordered the pancake and egg combo with sausage as well. The eggs, potatoes and sausage were all good. As for the pancakes, I messed up by pouring what I thought was maple syrup on them before trying them. Took a bite and they were nasty! Turns out the syrup tasted horrible. Tasted like molasses and not maple. Manager said it was maple flavored syrup. There was absolutely nothing remotely close to maple flavoring in it. After leaving, I got sick. My wife called them to let them know they should check the syrup again. We were told the manager would call us. Well that never happened. Long story short, we'll return for lunch but probably not for breakfast again. Beware of the syrup! read more

One of the worst breakfast I've ever had. The potatoes were burnt and unseasoned. Bacon was also burnt. They said they could not do egg whites so I asked for over hard unbroken yolks since I can't eat yolks. The eggs were rubbery and the yolk was broken all throughout rendering it inedible to me. The toast was not buttered and cold when I received it so once I buttered it the butter did not melt. The coffee also tasted like they heated up yesterday's coffee. The entire meal reminded me of what I was served in basic training back in the 1980s horrible taste, horrible food. read more

The broccoli salad was also very good but it has pecans. If you have an allergy, beware, nothing was listed on the menu for the side item ingredients. Service was friendly and fast. Our first time at this place. It was not a bad experience. Prices are average for similar places. The food was good. I had the chicken salad with apples and grapes, it was very tasty, a bit on the dry side but good. We also had the French toast and pancake and it was plenty of food. the service was nice, the person at the register was friendly. And the place is very nice and clean looking. We sat at a booth and all I can say is I hope you have good knees because they are kind of low. read more

I was looking for somewhere to eat after my eye appt. I checked yelp and this place was the closest that didn't have all fried food on the menu. I ordered the Cobb salad. It was beautifully presented (all though the toppings looked slim compared to the picture on the screen behind the counter) I had to ask for some extra blue cheese crumbles but the salad is definitely fresh! The fresh baked chocolate chip cookie is delicious! I think they are supposed to be known for the chicken salad so I will try that next time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's also a major turn off when they proposition you for a tip when you pay, as if you get service, let alone being propositioned before you even get your food. We had brunch here yesterday and it was okay. I had the Classic breakfast and my wife had the Breakfast BLT. The A/C was still not working, so it was pretty warm in there. The booths are very uncomfortable, no padding, plus the opposing seats are so close together, there is no place to put your feet because the table leg is in between causing your feet to be partially on the leg and floor. There is no ketchup, jelly,butter,hot sauce or napkins on the table. It is doled out sparingly. This place seems to be running on a shoe string budget. We may try it in a few months after it has been open a little longer and try the sandwiches next time. One thing to be aware of are the $3.12 cent soda/tea. I assume they charge this to keep food prices lower. I will get water if/when we return. read more
