BEWARE!!!! Rooter Guard was called by my rental tenant to come unclog a toilet pipe with a snake. They came, put the wrong equipment in the pipe, broke the equipment, proceeded to break concrete to dig out the stuck equipment in the pipe outside of the house (all without my permission), put a hole in the pipe to take their mistake out. I then had to give them permission to do much more work at 2100. I agreed not really understanding what was going on. They then called me 2 hours later, and told me that my plumbing problems were so bad that I must pay 9100 to do the job properly. I was alarmed at the progression of what seemed like an easy fix so I called my licensed contractor whom I have worked with for years. He went to the property and immediately called me and told me how much these guys had not only screwed up the job I hired them for, but that the work they told me I "must do" for 9100 was not even necessary. Basically, these guys saw a women (me) and decided to not only totally destroy parts of my property but they tried to scare me into paying them 9100 for unnecessary repairs. My contractor came in, fixed the mess they made AND fix the original issue for 1500. I of course told the company this and they refused to acknowledge any wrong doing, even though they did not even finish the original 2100 hundred job (left the concrete broken and exposed and did not unplug the pipes). Well, after I told them it cost me 1500 to fix the mess they made, they decided to SUE ME! Unbelievable. Obviously I am counter suing and will hopefully be vindicated in court but the fact they sued me on a job they not only completely messed up but also did not finish is crazy. Please be warned to never hire this company. I recently moved and the soon realized that my new garbage disposal was not working at all. I called Raymond, at Rooter Guard, he had promised to show me that his business would take care of any plumbing needs I had. I had previously posted a negative review on Yelp...because I had an awkward experience with a plumber from this company. I will say...I respect that the owner Raymond called me personally after I wrote my review. He seemed very nice and I will add-I liked that he cared so much about his business and how people saw it. He promised to make it right and he sincerely apologized for the actions of his employee. He wanted to show me that his company was committed to doing a good job and if I ever had any plumbing needs-to call his cell at any time, he would send someone free of charge. I decided to give Rooter Guard another chance. I am very happy I did. Raymond sent out Mason within the hour-who was very polite and respectful, he came over at dinner time, he looked at the problem and said he would be back in the morning to install a new disposal. I was anxious to get the kids to dinner so that worked great. We would meet in the morning. He told me the only charge I would pay would be for the new disposal ($118.54). He came back the next morning around 9:30am. Mason had the new garbage disposal in hand but explained he had to leave for another appointment but another plumber, Franco, was on his way to my house to install it. I honestly didn't understand why Mason couldn't just install it since he was here...but it seemed Franco was coming in the next 15-20 min so I figured it was fine. About an hour later Franco arrived. He was polite and nice-he got right to work and installed the disposal. About 25-30 min later the new disposal was up and running great...and so much quieter then the broken one that sounded like a jackhammer hitting the pavement. Both plumbers were really nice and explained everything to me through the process. I am taking down my other review and replacing it with this one. I would encourage others to give companies a chance if you are not satisfied with the service you were given. I am happy that I did, and I feel that my review now will better represent the skills and professionalism of Rooter Guard employees. I was also given two $15 off coupons on any plumbing job as a token of their appreciation for my honest review. These people are dishonest people. They charged my credit card for the transaction when the credit authorization was for the deposit of 10%. When my work was nearing completion the plumber agreed that work should cost much less than the original quote and gave me a new contract. They refused to honor this agreement. They will send 2 or 3 people to your house to intimidate you and not let the plumber diagnose, charge, and take payment for your problem. The plumber, Anthony, is a charm to deal with and has accurately diagnosed and fix our issue. Their managers & supervisors who come to house to intimate everyone, will also continue to tell you things are wrong when they are not (the plumber on the other hand is honest about the work). I highly recommend to everyone to never using this company. I wish I could give them zero stars. I will be reporting them to BBB and other organizations. read more

Friday night return from dinner found out our bathtub and toilet had backup on 1st floor. Open our Main Line clean out we installed 3 yrs ago and all the backup flow right out from it. This proved is main line back up and very lightly from the tree roots as it had happen 3 yrs ago. Search Yelp for high rating 24/7 service, Rooter Guard pop out and called them right away. Raymond return my call right away and appoint made for 1st thing on Sat. morning. Tech, Haln, get right to it with standard 4 inches main-line drill machine, can't do the job. Now have to do the expensive option, water-jet. After the water-jet and camera thru the line, huge tree roots had building up in 2 sections and one of them totally blocked the pipe. Water-Jet was able to puncher 2 inch hole for camera to go thru. Somehow our city main pipe is 85 feet diagonal into intersection vs. normal 35-40 feet to center of the street. To prevent further problem, we decide to go with trench-less sleeve into the clay pipe. After discuss with Ray to promise all job can be done by the end of Sunday, I tell them to start immediately. Haln is working none stop from Sunday noon till 8 pm to make sure the line is back on and done but he simply has no energy to complete the soil, plans and re-concrete the floor. Ray was nice enough to knock 5% off from the bill for the inconvenience which is really nice of him. Even thought I did the Main Line trench-less lining, Haln also did the camera into my house and found additional roots in few of the clay pipe joins...since is nothing major (and not ready to increase my expense) I will wait for few years and call Rooter Guard to snake those small area under the house when the time comes. At least they know exactly the remain problem and no major issue down the road. Will recommend to friends for any pluming needs. read more

Saw there ad on the internet for main line sewer clearance for 59.00 dollars called they arrived on time and I showed them the clean out pipes . Immediately they say well it's dry must be a clog in the middle in the house the snake won't work they want to do a water jet for 900 dollars !!! So I called a local plumber and asked if this sounded legit he said power jet is an option but that a snake should be tried first and they could do the water jet for 475.00 so I told rooter guard thanks but no thanks so he calls the office and he says the best I can do is 600 .00 I said what I really would like us for you to try and snake it he reluctantly agreed and miracles of miracles 20 minutes later the clog is clear !! I was told the plumber would get here at a certain time. He showed up late. When he arrived he didn't have the supplies needed to do the job. He had to leave and return with all his supplies. He tried fixing are issue for about 10-15 min. He then gave up and instead of it being $59 to fix like they tell u so u can call them to come .... He then says to repair it will cost $900!!! Wow. HUGE DIFFERENCE. We told him no thx and called another plumber. Our plumbing is now fixed and I was only charged $140 from the other plumber. The whole $59 seems too good to be true... Which it is! We encountered a backup in one of the bathrooms. We had a previous positive experience with Rooter Guard and gave them a call. They arrived at the appointed time and "Franco" diagnosed the issue and did some further sleuthing and found we had more potential issues due to the age of the iron drainage pipes under the house. We decided to do a complete removal and installation of new larger drainage pipes with an improved drainage angle. Boy does everything drain fast now ! Franco completed the job in less than 48 hours time. Even the city inspector gave Franco compliments for the "clean" job. I have a constant problem. Every six months the big ficus tree in front of my house gets its roots into my main drain and clogs it up. Then my bathtub fills with, let's just say toliet water. Yesterday it was that time again. I called a few of my past plumbers, got no answer or they were busy until later. By chance I happened upon Rooter Guard on Yelp! and saw their great rate of only $60. I called them up, talked to a nice polite man on the phone and about an hour later Jaime was there rootering away. I gave them my credit card before coming out and they were even nice enough to call me back and ask permission to make the charge even though I had already said it was OK. Great job guys. This Saturday morning at 9:30am I called Rooter Guard for a $59 main line clearing. We have one section of sewer pipe that has not been replaced yet and the roots get in there and block up the line every 12 months or so. The receptionist was on point and professional. I was assigned Ed and told he would arrive before 11am. He arrived totally on time and got straight to work snaking out my main line with the 4" cutter blades. He was super friendly and efficient. The whole experience was pleasant. Most other companies push and try to upsell you services that you don't need. Ed did the job that was asked of him without any of that bullsh!t. In the past four months, we've had two major plumbing emergencies. In May, the sewer line from the back toilet to the front toilet became clogged and corroded. No ordinary rooter service could get an auger through the pipe for cleanout. Rooter Guard sent out "Eddie" who correctly diagnosed the problem and walked us through every step of the week long process of breaking through the slab in several places, digging out the 58 year old clogged and corroded metal sewer pipe, and replacing it with plastic sewer pipe out to the main sewer line. The work was done efficiently and with friendly, clean and knowledgeable service people. Leo is the head guy, and is incredibly knowledgeable. He's the one who quotes the prices, and while they are in no way inexpensive (our experience is that they are on the higher end of price), they are fair, do exactly what they say they will do, eliminate the problem, use quality service people and material, are clean and neat at the site, and do the work on time. We saw Leo yet one more time this past August. Once again, the sewer line leading from the kitchen sink became clogged. The sewer line from the garage sink that services the washer was also clogged since the two lines were connected. This time "Harry" was the supervising plumber. Leo came out, decided to completely avoid the existing 58 year old line under the slab (based on his prior experience with our home and common sense), and trenched a new line from the garage sink that connected with the kitchen sewer line and out to the main. Again, it was a very expensive fix, but Harry and the staff completed the work on time. They also were very friendly and accommodating to our schedule and needs. They did the work (again) on time and in a professional manner. My experience with this company was with two very involved and labor intensive jobs. Yet, I wouldn't hesitate to call them again for any plumbing need (though I really hope I never have to!) read more

Rooter Guard just left my house 20 min ago after all there hard work. I had a water heater problem! I had no hot water anywhere in my house! After haveing to take a cold shower for 2 days under this cood weather I had called Rooter Guard for the 1st time and wow im impressed! They came down within 45 min with a water heater ready to go just incase that was the problem. They checked it out and within 10 min told me I need a new water heater. I new it was true because I have had mine for over 10 years now. They had installed the water heater for me in 35 min and clean up well after them. Ver proud! I didn't want to drive an hour to do this myself, so I looked on the internet and saw their $59 special. When the tech arrived and called me, he quoted me $550!!!! He said, for snaking the toilet, that I needed a new toilet mechanism and that there was a leak on the floor. There was never a leak before they got there. I told them to leave. Needless to say I drove an hour on Friday evening with my $15 hardware store bought toilet snake and fixed the clog in 10 minutes! There was nothing wrong with the toilet parts ( mechanism). Also the waterline hose was mysteriously loosened a half turn so that it caused a slow leak. Trust me this is a nice house in Agoura hills with tiled flooring, we would have noticed any leak. Very Disappointed! I had a clogged external line and after an initial Sunday visit the tech was unable to fix. He stated we needed a hydro jet cleaning, but he did not have the equipment. We scheduled for the next day (Monday). Rooter Guard called the day of and cancelled because the equipment needed was not available again. We then re-scheduled for later in the week (Friday) between 2-3pm. At 3 pm when no one arrived we called to check on the status of the tech. We were told by the manager they tried to contact us prior to our appointment (despite already confirming). Since we could not be reached they sent the tech on another job and I would be re-scheduled again in a few days and a discount applied. At this point Rooter Guard was fired. I called Rescue Rooter who came within 2 hours and fixed the clog the first time. read more

I called Rooter Guard because I had a backed-up sink. Jose came out within only a few hours of my call. He didn't charge me for coming out after he snaked the pipes because the problem was bigger than a clogged sink. I ended up having to do a whole system repipe for the lines coming in and the lines going out, as well as the main lines to the street! The work was started immediately and took more than a week to complete. Along the way problems came up but were handled by Leo and Jose. Every day except Sunday I had a crew of three to five workers trying to get my system going again. I really liked Jose and Leo. They were very professional. I also liked the fact that I was able to have water and use my Plumbing every night after they left. They only turned off the water while they were changing out something but reconnected the pipes each night so that my system was still working. I paid for the new plumbing system and was given new toilets, new fixtures and a couple sinks. Leo told me the work will be guaranteed for 25 years and that if anything at all goes wrong during that time they will fix it for free. This was the biggest expense I have ever had, but I have confidence that their work was done correctly. My water pressure is amazing now. And what took forever before getting cold water to turn hot on one side of the house now is almost instant. And the hot water is actually very hot. I like the end result. Another nice thing was that I got a 10% discount once my son heard how much the job was going to cost. He shopped around and found that there were lower prices with other companies. So Leo talked to his general manager and they gave me the extra 10% discount even though I had agreed to the higher amount. They didn't have to give me a discount, the toilets and sinks, or the fixtures, but it is so nice that they did. Now I have a perfect plumbing system in an old house and that gives me a lot of confidence. read more

There is nothing I hate more than being taken advantage of by a service provider. I recently had a clogged kitchen sink and called Rooter Guard to have a plumber come by. The lady on the phone was friendly enough, but was very vague when I asked about pricing and what the online special covered. I couldn't get anything out of her except for "your plumber will give you a free estimate when he gets there." That always makes me nervous, but I went along with it anyways. Their plumber showed up on time and when he looked under my sink, he said that I did not have "proper access" and that the price to fix the sink would be $120 instead of the $60 advertised online. I didn't know what proper access was and the lady hadn't mentioned that over the phone. So when I heard this news, I was pretty pissed. I was also determined not to be taken advantage of, so I told the plumber I would find somebody else to fix the problem (and I decided I would research what "proper access" is). He told me I should have him do it since he was already there, but I resisted and sent him away. I could tell he was pissed too, as he left my door open as he stormed out. I did a little research and discovered that proper access (aka clean-out access) is an extra little pipe that sticks out of the wall that allows the plumber to access the pipes without taking apart the p-trap. I noticed something like that under my sink, but I had no idea if that's actually what it was. So I called another service, Helping Hand Bros, and they were very helpful. They even informed me over the phone that unless I had proper access, the cost would be more than their advertised special. I had them send a plumber, who immediately pointed out that I DID have proper access and that I was eligible for the special price. I was quite upset to realize that Rooter Guard's plumber simply tried to take advantage of me by telling me I didn't have proper access. It crossed my mind that maybe he didn't see it, but a plumber is the most qualified person to determine whether a sink has proper access and if I was able to spot an extra little pipe sticking out (in plain sight), then surely this plumber did too. These guys came out to give us a firm price on clearing my 15 area drains lines which were not blocked, but had not been cleaned in a few years. They were the first bid. Victor came out and walked the property and gave my wife a bid for $1500.00 which is $100.00 per drain. He then said he would talk to his boss, went out to his truck and came back with a bid for $2500.00 !!! I had three other companies come out to bid this job. One bid was for $800.00, one for $450.00 and one was $275.00. I had the work done by the $250.00 guy who is licensed and bonded. It took him 5 hours and I gave him an extra $150.00 for his hard work. I also had him do some additional plumbing work for me that same day. This drain clearing was maintenance, so I was not in trouble and these guys could not take advantage of me. My advice - stay ahead of things like this so you do not fall victim to a $2500.00 bid from a company like this. Get bids and watch out for outrageous bids like I received from this company. I came out to my garage to find a puddle on the floor from a pinhole in the copper supply line to our water heater. My usual plumber doesn't work weekends so I turned to the internet. After clicking on Rooter Guard's ad, a pop-up asked if I needed help. I told the rep the information and was given a 1 hour window. The tech comes out 45 minutes late and says he needs to see if he has the parts. This consisted of a 1/2 inch elbow, 6 inches of copper tubing and 2 unions. Luckily he had these standard items on his truck. He then quoted me $475 for a 30 minute job. I asked him if he had any remorse about ripping me off since I was without water. He said copper is expensive. I told him to go away. 90 minutes later the job was completed by a competitor for $195. I can't believe the 5 star reviews for this company. read more
