Rooter Guard is the third company I've used for sewer line backups, and I really wish it had been the first. I spent hundreds of dollars with the other companies only to get the hard up-sell to quotes of $15-20K to replace a portion of our sewer line. Jack the technician arrived on time, checked out the problem and cleared it quickly, then explained clearly what can be done to keep it from happening again. My renter called me with clogged kitchen sink. I decided to give these people a chance - after all they have quite decent reviews. So we scheduled an appointment - that part was outstanding: clear communication, helpful, polite, willing to work with you. Then they were late for an appointment, Well..... happens. Things do run late sometimes, I understand. We had other commitments and could no longer wait and told the lady on the phone that I would not be in,but my renter would be in and I would pay by credit card on the phone. Then the "technician" came and the fun started. They claimed broken garbage disposal and wanted $430 for replacement. K. Too bad I knew that garbage disposal cost $100 at Home Depot and I had on multiple occasions replaced them in my other properties. So I knew how long that should take. I wasn't in a mood to pay them about $600 per hour, so I told them to go pound sand and drove to my renter's place. Of cause the garbage disposal was fine, just a small pipe that went from garbage disposal got clogged. It took 5 minutes to clean. Thus, a resume. I know some people here call this company "ethical" and they are getting mostly good reviews. My story is this: unless you sort of know how much a repair should take and prepared to tell those people to go screw themselves - do not call them. Ever. read more

After multiple efforts to get a good price from many plumbing companys, Rooter Guard was at the top of my list. I had a bad mainline backing up and I decided to give them a shot. I called and scheduled an appointment they said its a free estimate! The technician that arrived was knowledgable and knew what he was doing. He tried to snake mainline but it wouldnt clear so he recommended us to do hydrojet. We agreed with the technician and he called his jetter specialist Mike. Our toilets were overflowing and working at an Urgent Care this needed to be done as soon as possible. I looked on yelp for emergency plumbers and Rooter Guard came up. I called and talked to a very sweet young lady Elisa. She calmed me down and said I would have someone in our office in less than an hour. Which she was correct. Had a clogged line, didn't know where? Was it in the main outside or under the house. Jesse came out and put a camera down the clean out and we determined the clog was under the house. He really tried hard to run the snake from our bath tub but the waste piping is really old school and it was really difficult. In the end I went under the house and removed a san-t where the clog was. It was completely packed! I cleared it and put the system back in service. I appreciate Rooter Guard coming out and helping diagnose the problem. Because they didn't unclog the line they didn't charge me. read more

I had a gas leak in my dryer gas line, so SoCalGas came and told me they'd have to turn off my gas until I replaced it and the flex hose. It was a Sunday, so I was thankful that Rooter Guard could send a guy out for a free estimate. The technician told me he could replace the line and hose but would be required to perform a full house line check as well, which was a half-day job requiring him to temporarily dismantle my meter. Total cost: $1100. I asked if the price had anything to do with his coming out on a Sunday, but he said no. Anyway, it wasn't his call: he kept having to call his boss who told him what to do. I smelled something fishy, so got another plumber to come, who replaced the line & hose for $235. That plumber told me he didn't need to do a house check because SoCalGas would already do that for free. If they didn't give me a pass, he'd come back and fix it again for free. So, SoCalGas came, did the house check for free, said I was good to go, and that was that. Rooter Guard tried to gouge me, which I found really disgusting. I called RooterGuard 8AM. Then, after an hour Vic arrived on time, that was around 9AM, just within an hour. I was told 9 to 10 but I did not have to wait at all. My kitchen sink was clogged, imagine my great frustration because it's almost Thanksgiving in just a few days!!! Those are the words one dreaded to speak in a single sentence "clogged kitchen sink...Thanksgiving". Vic explained to me what he was planning to do, that he will try to unclog the kitchen sink first through the clean-out access outside the property. He used about 25 feet of the drum that contains the coiled-up snake. But, it did not unclog the kitchen sink. "There is NO CHARGE" he said, even though he did the work but was initially unsuccessful. But he wanted to try to clear up the clog from under the sink, this time around. Vic was very patient, and was explaining to me what he was going to do prior to actually doing the work. This was really important to me because I am in the service business too, and a rendition and explanation prior to actual work, and coming from a professional, was comforting to my panicked and dreadful mind. Vic tried to unclog from underneath the sink 3 times. Yes, he did the work 3 times, and at the 3rd try he was successful. It did not take too long though because he got the automated drum. Probably 20 minutes in total. But Vic have to disassemble and reconnect the under-sink PVC pipes to test if the water was draining correctly every time. YES, every time, all within 20 minutes! Needless to say, Vic was fast and obviously an expert in what he was doing, there was no question about it! I rate Vic and RooterGuard 5 stars. I highly recommend them. Ask for Vic! read more

They are a BIG scam company, we called them out after hours because of course things don't break during normal business hours. LOL They called me back and were at my house within an hour which was great however this is when I realized how horrible of a company they were and tried to rip us off. He came to me and said the he snaked our line and it had a bunch of slug and need to dig up / break concrete in my back yard leaving me with a quote for $1800.00 to $2300.00. I said no way, I had to talk with my husband, he left! I then found a new company who came out and fixed the problem and to learn Rooter Guard did not even sank the line because the main clean out was still cover up. I live in a condo HOA and our sewer line in the shared garage was backing up. I called Rooter Guard.The young man that answered the phone was very nice and cordial, and told me they had a $59 special going on to clear drains. I explained that it was not a home, but a shared garage condominium. He checked with his supervisor and told me that the price would remain the same. Plumbers in general, like electricians, and most of the trades, do not work by the hour, but by the job, so they can try to gouge you on the price. So, I was skeptical that they would honor the price. Boy, was I wrong..... They sent a very nice young man out, who did everything conceivable to clear the line. He attempted to snake down the main drain line and the snake would not go through. I suggested we look for a clean out, and after a few minutes we found one in one of the vertical sewer pipes in the garage. The clean out had not been opened for many years, so it was difficult to loosen it, but he did not complain, opened it, snaked the line twice, and with his persistence, got the line open. The job took about 40 minutes and with the billing procedure, total time was a little less than an hour. I was billed as represented. No attempt to up charge me; Claim something else was wrong that was not included in the fee; etc. Based on my one time experience, I would highly recommend this company for rooter service. read more

Called 3 plumbing companies and they were the only ones that responded - I'm glad they did. The main line had a hole in it and they replaced the entire line and all the work associated with it (covered all the walls, furniture, etc.) in 3 days. We know the work was required because the pipe they took out had a 6x4 inch hole that you could tell had been there for a while. Rooter Guard gets a five on their customer service. The technician however, needs some polish. So the plumber comes out and after chatting, moves my washing machine and proceeds to snake the drain. All is good. He pushes the machine back and puts the drain pipe into the drain. However, he forgot to attach the drain pipe to the machine. My first rinse cycle was all over my garage floor. Thank goodness our laundry wasn't in the house or this would have been a major mess! Anyway, i called and asked to speak to a supervisor. Leo called me and was super concerned about my issues. He listened and I could tell he cared about the serious mishap. He refunded the rooter charge, even though that was not my goal, and apologized for the mishap. I will definitely use these guys again and will refer them out for their superb customer service. Oh, and they are paid by the hour, so no up sell! He cleared my drain and that was it! read more

I wanted to share a public Thank You. After I picked my daughter up from school today and was driving down the 23 when I had a tire blow. I didn't know what was going on at first but I was able to keep from losing control of my vehicle and exited. I couldn't find a place to pull over immediately but due to the rim hitting the pavement it stopped on its own with my vehicle halfway in the road! I panicked and had my daughter jump out to get away from the road and the busy traffic. Someone almost wrecked and ran themselves off the road rubber necking. Because of the time, ALOT of people drove by, yes even local law enforcement. I called my roommate but he was in Fillmore and it would take him a while to get there. After about 20 minutes a Rooter Guard van immediately stopped in front of my vehicle. A gentleman jumped out and asked me if I had a spare and proceeded to change my tire right there in the middle of the road because my vehicle wouldn't budge in the condition it was in. It was extremely dangerous for him to do this but he said he couldn't just drive by us like everyone else. I am truly thankful for this man. He didn't want anything in return but this man should be commended. I don't even know his name. All I know is he works for Rooter Guard and he was in van No. 61. I had a disaster when my toilet overflowed and raw sewage poured down the hallways into the adjoining rooms. Sam @ Rooter Guard was there within a few hrs. on a Sunday AM. No extra wk. end rate gouging as with some other plumbers. Sam graciously mopped and cleaned up the entire sewage mess for me. The original 1950's bath room pipe which runs across the house into the kitchen area needed to be replaced. Harry worked in my behalf to get me the lowest price possible (nearly a $3000 discount.) They had to take up my front patio brick and it looked even better than before after they re-set it. The entire job was done in 3 days and all went smoothly and problem free. They provided me proof of inspector's final sign off. As a side note, I'd used one of their competitors several months ago when I had to replace the front yard sewer line and had nothing but problems with that other company. Plumbing problems suck! But, if you want to be totally satisfied with the results and have really nice professional guys fixing your problem, then call Rooter Guard. My system completely backed up at night. First thing the next morning I started looking for help. After making two calls from a Google search in which both informed me someone couldn't come until after 3:00 that afternoon, I turned to Yelp and found these guys. Angel was at my house within an hour. Of course, we thought this would be simple. Snaking it should take care of it. Wrong! He put the camera down the pipe but couldn't find the blockage. He made a call and shortly thereafter a guy showed up with equipment to force water down to move the blockage. No such luck. Angel made another call and Leo showed up. They determined the blockage was under the sidewalk. So digging began. They not only found the blockage but found that the pipe was decaying. It only took a few days to dig down under the sidewalk, clean it out and replace the pipe up to the house. Due to the rain, Angel had to come back a few days later to patch the hole where they dug down to the pipe. Except for some extra dirt I now have (which I can use) and a fresh patch of cement, you would never know they had been there. I was confident the job would get done properly and didn't have to stay home to supervise. Leo kept in touch and updated me as necessary. I don't know if they're price was comparable to other companies as I didn't get any other estimates. I had company from out of town and needed to get it fixed ASAP. Besides, major plumbing work is always going to be expensive (or at least more than you planned to spend). An independent plumber or smaller company may have been cheaper, but it probably would have taken longer (and having company with no water equals disaster). I'm satisfied knowing the work was done correctly and professionally. And having professionals make me laugh when I'm dealing with a disaster is a bonus. Plus they provided a 25 year warranty (who does that these days). But, should there ever be a problem, I have Leo's cell phone number! :) read more

If you want to waste your time, like being lied to, use these guys. Called made an appointment yesterday. I was told they could do the job. I even spoke to a field supervisor who stated my request could be met. Several hours went by, I never heard back. I had to call in for update. They said they would contact technician to give me update. Almost an hour went by still had not heard back. Called in a third time to get update. They called tech again. My 12 pm appointment was now pushed back again to 3-4 pm Tech was finishing up and I was promised no later than 4 pm probably sooner. Since I invested so much time with them already I conferred with office again they would be able to make it out for sure by 4 pm. They called back after 4 pm to inform me technician's car broke down and that would have to reschedule for tomorrow would that be okay? So again I asked that they would be able to clear the roots from my drain, that they would be able to use 3" blade as prior companies had used, without issue, and that they would schedule me first thing in the morning. Roll forward to today. No follow up on appointment. I called in spoke to their customer service rep. who stated, "Yes your on schedule for today." Then 9:30 am I get a call from field supervisor who states that they can not perform job as requested. It is my opinion that they use the Rooter special to draw in business as a loss leader item, get out to your house then hit you with a larger price tag. My advice if you choose to use this company know what issues you have so you do not get blindsided. I placed a call to Drain Right they'll be able to do the work I requested for less. Only $ 45.00 as opposed to Rooter Guard's $ 59.00 charge. Hopefully I will have a better experience with the folks at Drain Right. Already they seem to be more professional. Had to leave 1 star. I wanted to leave zero stars. System would not allow me to post with zero stars. read more

Gurgling and backing up eventually pointed to a big problem with my sewer line. The ultimate cost was a bit on the high side, but service was fast and professional with good communication. My only real problem came when the workers failed to properly re-secure the hatch to my crawlspace. Rodents got in and I suffered extra costs for pest removal.
