I feel so lucky we called Rooter Guard after other plumbers could not find the problem and our bathroom got flooded for the third time. Their plumber Greg, was one hour away on a Friday night, but drove back to handle this emergency. He found the problem and finished the work the next day. He was not only very experienced, he was courteous and trustworthy. We had to leave, by the time we got back all the work was finished and the area was cleaned up. I'm very pleased with Rooter Guard. I called them last week as I needed plumbing service for a toilet that I couldn't unclog my self. Turns out my two year old niece had been having fun flashing toys, deodorant sticks, and other stuff down the toilet. I woke up the other morning to my toilet not working. It was super annoying. I'm guessing my roommate probably threw some paper towels or something in there, but either way, my toilet wouldn't flush. I had these guys come out on a Sunday night for a service call which was free. That's the catch they don't do anything! I needed a snake and the guy said he snaked 75 ft in less than 10 minutes. He said I had major problems and he needed to break concrete up in my back yard to fix the problem. The estimate was $2000!!! he wasn't interested in helping us at all. When we questioned his creditability he laughed! I knew the guy was a crook and told him to get off my property. I had a legitimate company come out after him and he snaked my drains and said there was a root problem (like most valley houses have built in the 60's) He charged me $150 and fixed my toilet in the house as well. Don't normally write reviews but this place was so awful I didn't want anyone to potentially get ripped off by them!!! read more

I'm upgrading review from a 1 star to a 3 star. I have not personally used them again, but supposedly, ownership changed, and the new management wants to clean up their image. They gave me a full refund for my bad experience with the old ownership...and this is years later. It's under new management, and they're trying very hard for good customer service...so I thought they deserved an upgrade. If they're willing to go out of their way to clean up the bitter taste left by previous ownership, then I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that their service has gotten much better. I recommend Rooter Guard for plumbing issues. I had water back up in my shower and in assessing the problem, the technician discovered issues with the pipes. I appreciated their transparency, honesty, and explanations on options to resolve. It ended up being a bigger job than I was prepared for financially, they had a financing product that worked for me and easy to access. The lead tech on the job, Vick was great as well as the other team members that worked on the job. They left my house as if they had not been here, clean, picked up and what they dug up they returned as originally found as possible. They came pretty promptly. I did not care for their suggested fix so I politely declined their offer of a $648 drain clearing fee. I was appreciative of their fast and courteous reply. It was dark outside so I could not fault the technician who told me the house had no drain clean out. I found it in the light of day and we ultimately relied on a friend to help out. A trip to Home Deport equipment rental and $200 later my friend had cleared the drain. I fully understand the challenges during COVID so it's hard to give an accurate review. However if speed is necessary, and if cost is no problem for for you they would be a good choice. read more

I had a horrible back up in my home & called the plumber I had used before but they were busy, being a Sunday it was a given. I began to look for another plumbing company & that's when I came across these guys. They were able to schedule me in the next 60 minutes!! With family coming over in just a few hours, I needed my problem to be taken care of ASAP! I was beyond satisfied with their service. Beginning with their customer service rep to the technician, was superb. I provided the young lady over the phone all my information & was told I would be given a call back as soon as a technician was assigned. Within 10 minutes I received a call back & was given my technicians name & told he will arrive in 60 minutes. 35 minutes later, Harry, the technician was at my door!! Completely unsatisfied. Overpriced and extremely poor workmanship. Charged $2000 to install a pressure regulator. It took them all day to get the parts and finish a simple job with very poor quality. Rooter Guard!! I just want to thank you for a great customer service and great staff and teamwork! I called in and a very nice lady picked up the phone and helped me though my panic to calm me down and set up an appointment. Once appointment was set they gave me the technicians name and ETA! They told me in the next 60-90 min but had a tech named Richard out at my property in 45 min. He was very professional and explained to me about the problems I'm having with my drainage so I can understand. Long story short it came out to be a broken sewer line right under a big tree I had. Well we had to call Mike the field supervisor to come out because here was nothing we can do at this point. Mike ran the camera and showed me and my husband the roots and issue. We agreed to repair it because it was very bad. I was there the whole time of the repair and I saw the bad section when they pulled it out!! Garbage disposal on the fritz over a weekend, and these guys were the only ones who would come out on the Saturday. Technician managed to unjam and reset it - took 2 minutes and cost me $150. Sigh. Paid it because what else do you do? Three days later, it broke again. After having to negotiate their return (I asked for no service call charge, application of the $150 to any repair, etc), same tech comes out, can't fix it this time. Says I need a new one, calls the office, then quotes me $1,000 for a new garbage disposal. Nope. Got another company out a day later and paid $250 total for new disposal and installation. read more

I tried to get a quote to compare prices for a job to add a hose Bibb on our roof top. I received quotes in the $200 range (professional plumbers, not handymen). Rooter Guard initially responded quick to my request to get a quote, but had to reschedule and rescheduled and only showed up at 6pm after I followed up 3 times and insisted.... The quote came back at ~$700. A joke! Expect a total rip-off 'IF' they show up!! UPDATE: Michael from Rooter Guard contacted me to apologize for my experience and asked to have a supervisor come to better understand what needs to be done and to revise the proposal. In the meantime, I have decided to take another route and therefore Rooter Guard didn't get the opportunity to improve my experience. Under these circumstances leaving a 1 star rating wouldn't be fair, therefore I updated to 3 starts to show that it wasn't a great experience, but willingness and potential for being good to great. read more

Since at least half of a home's plumbing is below ground, it is essential that you can trust your plumber. I actually had a plumber, years ago, show me a "trick" as he pulled a dried up root from his truck and said he has used it on occasion to convince the unsuspecting homeowner that they had a root problem. After an extended search, 8 years ago I found a very trustworthy plumber however, recently he shifted his business to only handling re-model jobs. So you can imagine my disappointment when I returned home to find two clogged toilets. I used YELP and contacted over 10 plumbers. Four said they didn't work the area although two of their websites said otherwise. One wanted $150 plus the draining cleaning fee, as it was past five o'clock. Another quoted $325. Another simply didn't handle clogged drains. Finally I found two candidates and I am very happy I chose Rooter Guard. The phone was answered by an incredibly competent and engaging individual - Anna. She listened carefully as I explained the issue. She then assured me I would receive a call back within the hour and she was spot on. The owner called and said, Jack the technician was 15 minutes away. Sure enough he was. You could not find a more pleasant individual if you had Diogene's lamp. He was terrific, Found the clean out and presto no more problem All of this for a very reasonable fee. IF this review convinces you to try them, please don't ask for Jack.....I want him available when I need him....... : ) read more

I called them during those hours and they said they won't do it. A simple kitchen sink drain clog and they won't stand by their ad. UPDATE: 6/26/17 Around 30 minutes after I posted my initial review, Jeffrey called us to discuss. He was very professional and understanding about our situation. He offered us a full refund or to have someone patch up our wall. We decided to receive the refund as we probably need a more extensive patch-up and paint to our wall than they would be able to do. I think this interaction definitely underscores the company's professionalism and highlights their dedication to customer service. I'm happy to update this review just based on how they addressed this situation. ORIGINAL POST: I want to preface this post by saying that every person we talked to at Rooter Guard was professional and courteous. However, I find that with our issue, they were looking for the most expensive possible solution to a very simple job. We called rooter guard because we saw a leak whenever our tenant was using her shower. We had her bathtub faucet handles replaced recently, and the leak started immediately after that, so I thought it's probably a relatively simple fix, but we should call a professional just in case it's something more serious. Eric came the day after and we told him about the leak and the recent faucet replacement. He said it probably wasn't the recent replacement because there's water constantly in those lines. He said it was probably a drain pipe as it only happens when the water turns on, and that this would require tearing open a wall to look at the pipes ($350 for diagnostic). We ok'ed this because we wanted to make sure we knew exactly what the issue was and because that plaster was already ruined due to the leak. Eric wasn't available the next Monday so Harling came to do the diagnostic. I also showed him the leak and told him about the recent faucet replacement. Once he did the diagnostic, he told me that there was a whole line of drain pipe that needed to be replaced, and another sewer line ($3400 fix). He couldn't locate the source of the leak but insisted that we wouldn't be seeing the leak if it weren't for a leak in these pipes. I'm not generally prone to spending more than $3000 without a lot of time and thought put into it-- I would need a second opinion from a different company and multiple bids for the job. I told Harling I would need some time before we agreed to replacing the pipes. In my mind, it did not make sense to me that we would suddenly see such an extensive leak because of gradually aging pipes and with no obvious leak source. I knew that the faucets were a 15 minute fix, so I insisted that he check these before he leaves. Lo and behold, the faucet stems were leaking into the wall when the water was turned on, something easily seen, easily fixed, and easily checked if the plumbers had just listened to me in the first place. So now I am missing part of a wall just so Rooter Guard could tighten my bathtub faucet handles. I understand the need for diagnostics and making sure that plumbing issues are fixed at the root. Regardless of the source problem, I'm happy they took the time to make sure the leak wasn't serious (although in all honesty, I was the one that noted there wasn't a source leak in any pipes they wanted replaced). What I don't understand is why the quickest and most obvious solution wasn't the first thing they checked? It's not only a waste of my time and money, but probably also the company's! I'm sure that there were several other more profitable jobs they could have been doing instead. I'm very glad I stuck to my guns about this leak, and I would warn any other customers to try to learn as much as possible about what's going on before calling Rooter Guard. They might your $300 problem into a $3000 one. read more

I had a bathroom sink problem otherday. when opening water, the flow was nearly very slow. I tried to fix the issue myself but I failed, could fix it successfully. Then I contacted Rooter Guard, hoping in mind to have someone in the same evening and luckily I found one. They were able to send a plumber and he arrived on time. BEWARE!!!! Rooter Guard was called by my rental tenant to come unclog a toilet pipe with a snake. They came, put the wrong equipment in the pipe, broke the equipment, proceeded to break concrete to dig out the stuck equipment in the pipe outside of the house (all without my permission), put a hole in the pipe to take their mistake out. I then had to give them permission to do much more work at 2100. I agreed not really understanding what was going on. They then called me 2 hours later, and told me that my plumbing problems were so bad that I must pay 9100 to do the job properly. I was alarmed at the progression of what seemed like an easy fix so I called my licensed contractor whom I have worked with for years. He went to the property and immediately called me and told me how much these guys had not only screwed up the job I hired them for, but that the work they told me I "must do" for 9100 was not even necessary. Basically, these guys saw a women (me) and decided to not only totally destroy parts of my property but they tried to scare me into paying them 9100 for unnecessary repairs. My contractor came in, fixed the mess they made AND fix the original issue for 1500. I of course told the company this and they refused to acknowledge any wrong doing, even though they did not even finish the original 2100 hundred job (left the concrete broken and exposed and did not unplug the pipes). Well, after I told them it cost me 1500 to fix the mess they made, they decided to SUE ME! Unbelievable. Obviously I am counter suing and will hopefully be vindicated in court but the fact they sued me on a job they not only completely messed up but also did not finish is crazy. Please be warned to never hire this company. I recently moved and the soon realized that my new garbage disposal was not working at all. I called Raymond, at Rooter Guard, he had promised to show me that his business would take care of any plumbing needs I had. I had previously posted a negative review on Yelp...because I had an awkward experience with a plumber from this company. I will say...I respect that the owner Raymond called me personally after I wrote my review. He seemed very nice and I will add-I liked that he cared so much about his business and how people saw it. He promised to make it right and he sincerely apologized for the actions of his employee. He wanted to show me that his company was committed to doing a good job and if I ever had any plumbing needs-to call his cell at any time, he would send someone free of charge. I decided to give Rooter Guard another chance. I am very happy I did. Raymond sent out Mason within the hour-who was very polite and respectful, he came over at dinner time, he looked at the problem and said he would be back in the morning to install a new disposal. I was anxious to get the kids to dinner so that worked great. We would meet in the morning. He told me the only charge I would pay would be for the new disposal ($118.54). He came back the next morning around 9:30am. Mason had the new garbage disposal in hand but explained he had to leave for another appointment but another plumber, Franco, was on his way to my house to install it. I honestly didn't understand why Mason couldn't just install it since he was here...but it seemed Franco was coming in the next 15-20 min so I figured it was fine. About an hour later Franco arrived. He was polite and nice-he got right to work and installed the disposal. About 25-30 min later the new disposal was up and running great...and so much quieter then the broken one that sounded like a jackhammer hitting the pavement. Both plumbers were really nice and explained everything to me through the process. I am taking down my other review and replacing it with this one. I would encourage others to give companies a chance if you are not satisfied with the service you were given. I am happy that I did, and I feel that my review now will better represent the skills and professionalism of Rooter Guard employees. I was also given two $15 off coupons on any plumbing job as a token of their appreciation for my honest review. These people are dishonest people. They charged my credit card for the transaction when the credit authorization was for the deposit of 10%. When my work was nearing completion the plumber agreed that work should cost much less than the original quote and gave me a new contract. They refused to honor this agreement. They will send 2 or 3 people to your house to intimidate you and not let the plumber diagnose, charge, and take payment for your problem. The plumber, Anthony, is a charm to deal with and has accurately diagnosed and fix our issue. Their managers & supervisors who come to house to intimate everyone, will also continue to tell you things are wrong when they are not (the plumber on the other hand is honest about the work). I highly recommend to everyone to never using this company. I wish I could give them zero stars. I will be reporting them to BBB and other organizations. read more
