A friend told me about this company's promotion regarding the $59 drain cleaning and I was skeptical after reading some reviews. Scheduling was nice and easy and even available the day-of but I elected the next day. My Technician, Cesar, arrived within the expected window and I even received a courtesy message that he was 30 minutes out. Upon arrival Cesar was informative and kind, he mentioned other long term solutions but was understanding when I mentioned that I was looking solely for the special. I had a blocked line from one side of the house, the bathroom going to the main. I tried to clear but my 25 foot snake didn't clear. I called Rooter Hero. They came out within an hour. The technician did attempt to clear with his bigger snake but after 30 foot he gave up. The sales began. He called his supervisor and they suggested to Hydro Jet for $1,895.00. I asked him to try and clear the line again but he would not. That's when I nicely asked the technician to leave. I paid my $126 fee even though he did not complete the job. Then I went to Home Depot and rented the same snake. With the help of a buddy we cleared the line. Not only did I waste money but time. Rooter Hero is an up sale company. I booked an appointment online at 2:15 p.m. for a 2:30-5:00 p.m. service window and received a call shortly afterward letting me know a plumber would arrive around 3:30. I also received a text and email with the plumber's name and a link to track the service vehicle online. The plumber arrived at approximately 3:55. He quickly assessed our shower drain issue, returned to his van to bring up a 35-foot snake, and confirmed the $59 special I had booked. The work was completed within about 30 minutes. Short story, before they were paid, acted like they were my best friend, and going to help me out. They asked for payment before the job was complete, and after they got paid, tried to skip out on doing everything they promised. Good thing they recorded my understanding of what was to be completed by them. They literally tried to get away with $5500 for two hours of work. I had to keep calling them on not completing what they said they would do, making me feel like a bad guy. At one point, after pointing out that the cleanout was not done the way we agreed, they lied and said that they had already made the changes. When i asked for photo confirmation, they showed me a photo without corrections. When i pointed that out, silence for a minute, then "well i guess we better fix it." I finally saw a completed picture of the work, and asked to have it sent to me. I was promised 3 times that i would be sent to me, and or included in the final invoice. Even after the office several times, it was never provided. I called to speak to a supervisor twice, and was told that i would receive a call back, and they never did call. Ultimately everthing was done as agreed. But multiple times they tried to skip out on completion, one time they did, and i had to call them back. If i wasn't the type who knows about this stuff, they would have ripped me off. Slimy crew. I even bought them all lunch, and 4 cases of microbrew. Never again. read more

Our landlord used this company to repair 2 bathrooms, this company took advantage of the bad situation and priced gouged everything like crazy. They were repeatedly excessively late to scheduled appointments or didn't show up at all. Took so many vacation days off work and they never showed up. Zero communication when they were late. Very unprofessional. They took out toilet to do work and then left it out in our yard and never came back to put it back in. Wow! On top of that, they charged an outrageous amount of money. William is knowledgeable, patient, and kind, and respectful. He is professional and knows his stuff. My biggest issue with this company is that their rep who handles escalations never picks up the phone, even after he called and left me his number to return his call. I had a frustrating and unsettling experience with Rooter Hero in San Diego. I was dealing with a clogged bathroom drain due to roots in the line, so I reached out to multiple plumbers for quotes on hydro-jetting. Rooter Hero had someone available within two hours, which was impressive. The technician arrived and quoted me $1,800 for the service, stating the cost could go toward any final repairs. Since I had already received a $1,200 quote from another plumber, I asked if they could match it. After calling his supervisor, they agreed. Since their hydro-jet machine was already there, the technician quickly asked if I wanted to proceed. Everything happened so fast that before I knew it, I was signing the contract for $1,200. At that exact moment, another plumbing company called and offered to do the job for $900. Naturally, I wanted to cancel with Rooter Hero. I sincerely apologized to the technicians and requested to cancel, but they falsely claimed there was a $200 cancellation fee. Suspicious, I called Rooter Hero's office myself, and the representative canceled my service immediately without mentioning any fees. She also assured me that any payments would be refunded (though I hadn't paid anything yet). The real problem was what happened next. The technician at my home became hostile and threatened me, saying I would be put on a "blacklist" so that no Rooter Hero or other plumbing company would ever service my home. This was both unprofessional and unsettling. While the customer service over the phone was smooth and helpful, my in-person experience was completely different--unethical, intimidating, and stressful. They claimed the roots in my drain broke their blade and they had to use a hydro jet to clear the line within minutes there was a whole crew and the $80 fee went to $1,800. They claimed the pipe was broken and to fix it would be $30k I had someone else with a better camera check the entire pipe. They said there was no apparent break in the pipe. They disputed the claim that a bit would break from roots I paid these "heroes" $1,000. They bombarded both my wife and I with phone calls for the balance. They charged $60 to snake the line, but the technician barely made an effort before immediately telling us we needed a $1,600 hydro jet. He even offered a "10% discount if we did it right away," and when I declined, he asked what price we'd be willing to pay -- very pushy and unprofessional. Had a guy come out, checked it out and said it would be about $200 to fix my clogged sink and backed up dishwasher. He does the work, then charges over $300, saying tough he already did the work and that's what it costs, never having discussed this after the initial estimate. Dude left in a hurry before we could ensure everything worked and sure enough the disposal stops working the next day and the dishwasher was never fixed. ALSO IVE SEEN IT MENTIONED IN OTHER REVIEWS THAT THEY TRIED TO SELL AN 1800 DOLLAR DRAIN SERVICE FOR A REGULAR CLOG, they tried the same thing with us verbatim to how I've seen other reviews mention it so if you're unfortunate enough to be dealing with them look out for that as well. I've now set 2 separate revisits which no one had showed up for, never called I had to reach out to them to find out the guy wasn't coming. Don't bother with their customer service because they'll just tell you over and over and over again you'll be getting a call back and that call back will never come, and they won't transfer you or give you a direct line, ever. I recently hired Rooter Hero to help remove dirt/debris build up in my patio drain preventing water from flowing and to get a quote for some drain work. After working through some minor scheduling issues, a technician was dispatched and arrived in the originally scheduled window. I explained the issue, specifically what was clogging, where etc, he shared pricing and we went from there. After working on the drain with a snake for a while, he later told me that a snake is not able to dislodge dirt from drains, but conveniently their more expensive service (7x more expensive of course) could do the job and that if it didn't work they would credit the value against the drain work (which I had not been quoted on yet, and still have not received). While personnel were polite and relatively responsive I would not recommend based on the service bait and switch. read more

They get one star.. only because the plumber was nice. He wasn't very good but he was nice. I had a drain plugged up because my wife had put stuff in the garbage disposal that shoulfn't go down. Not the 1st time, so I was not too surprised when I had to call someone. These guys showed up with the fancy drain snakes and cameras. I took off the p-trap and had everything ready for them when they got here. The spent 1/2 an hour running the snake through and accomplished zip, zero, nada. They concluded the plug-up couldn't be fixed and offered to do a drain power jet for $1800... I kindly refused. I paid the $59 to get them on thier way. OK, I can do plumbing but I hate it. $59 dollars later, I went to Home Depot and bought a $6 drain bladder. I out it on my garden hose and shoved it into the drain about where I knew the clog to be. I turned on the water... 5 seconds later BOOM, the drain unplugged and the water ran. Moral of the story, if you know a little about plumbing, you are probably better off doing it yourself instead of wasting the money on Rooter Hero. One thing, I am seriously amazed at how easily professional plumbers are willing to walk away from a problem because the 1st and simplest effort did not solve the problem. This happened to me with Anderson plumbing 5 years ago. They brought out a $50,000 power jet machine to solve an outdoor drain problem... walked away af 1/2 and no solution. I uses a $20 drain snake and 60 minutes of effort and solved the problem... I did not pay Anderson a penny. Rooter Hero and Anderson both fail to go the one step above to be a 4 or 5 star company.
