When it's late at night and you're walking and drinking your way down the debauchery that is 6th Street, the munchies will inevitably hit. This is no time for a fancy sit down meal, a fussy sandwich, or anything that requires a fork. It's time for pizza. The blocks are replete with pizza choices but we stepped into Roppolo's because we figured a pizzeria that had two brick and mortars and two food trucks ought to pull its weight. Once we stepped in, a sign on the wall gloated its elite 16th place on some magazine's list of the Best Pizzas in America. Surely this was something worth seeing. I ordered a mushroom slice, which took only a few minutes in the oven to reheat and then only a few more moments after that for me to find a spot on the curb that wasn't taken over by a sleepy homeless person or someone getting sick. Whether it was the buzz from the drinks or the excitement of everything happening around me, it was a pretty fine slice. Gooey melted cheese and good sauce atop a layer of crust that was just a shade too thick but well crisped. If you want a slice quick, it's best to order from the ready made pies that are available. Luckily, there's always a good selection. There's also a walk-up window that takes orders on the side when things get really busy so you don't even have to step into the establishment. The next day, I went back with the clarity of sobriety, wondering if it would be just as good as the night before. Ropollos really scratches that itch when you need a big peace of pizza when your wanting something nice and greasy but actually its a well balanced pizza Id say. What balance you might ask well I will tell you that they pay as much attention to fresh topings as they do to the crust which is often a afterthought at other places. Highly recommend. As for my experience well it was quiet the rodeo Id say haha. Navigating 6th Street on my mobility scooter was much like being that babe in the sheep herding movie. I was walking around 6th street looking for a gluten free vegan spot and stubble across this place. I order a gluten free vegan veggie pizza (large). It was around $25. The service was amazing m. The owner was probably the most kind and patient person I have met while visiting Austin. I explained my food allergies and he made sure I could eat there. When the pizza came it was extremely HOT and fresh and the vegan cheese was melted nicely. It was seasoned well too. After taking a bite I realize there was fresh garlic all over it. I was annoyed with myself because I forgot to mention my allergy to fresh garlic. I threw away the entire pizza and went to order a new one. The owner would not allow me to pay even though it was my fault. He wasn't even upset, he just made another one! He talked and joked with me the entire time. And I even witness him giving out free pizza to a homeless man who said he was hungry. The pizza was Soo good. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a 5 star rating. Well I've been eating Roppolo's Pizza at some point in my life, off and on, for the past 14 years. Yikes! Time flies fast, but Roppolo's has managed to survive in Austin and become a staple on 6th street and anyone's late night pizza excursions. Yes, when I was young and dumb and full of - - - - Ethyl - - on those late nights out on 6th Street, we would always make our way over to the huge crowd gathered around Roppolo's. The great thing about that was you know they were cranking out pizzas as fast as they could sell them, and that meant you always got a hot and fresh piece when your time came. I've enjoyed every piece I've had - and kept it all inside too. This pizza is actually really darn good when it comes hot and fresh out of the oven. It looks like a pizza should, appetizing and colorful, and with the plethora of toppings it's a pizza party in your mouth. A couple of friends and I were getting ready for the Spurs game and stopped by and and ended up getting a 22" pie - - my God that's the biggest damn pizza I've ever seen! And it won't sit squarely in the backseat of my luxury sedan so I had to put it in the trunk to keep it safe and secure. SmartCar and Moped drivers beware. We got half Rosalie (White w/ ricotta cheese base w/ tomatoes, spinach, onions, mushrooms, and garlic) and half Godfather (italian sausage, pepperoni, bacon, beef, meatballs). We asked for extra garlic and add jalapenos - - no problem! The cook did a fabulous job (see pics), it looked awesome and did the job. What sets Roppolo's apart from the rest is that they don't skimp on the topping - which is awesome! There's a TON of toppings of the pizza, in some cases double other pizza places. Nearly every square inch of the pizza has an ingredient on it so you get that with every bite, and if that's your thing then this is your place. Their crust is on the thicker side and is chewy in texture as well. It's almost like half the thickness of a Chicago Pizza Pie but with keepin' it New York w/ that Italian flare. I've had their garlic breadsticks before - - OMG they're so damn addicting I couldn't have just 1........I had 6 - - one for each abdominal (hidden behind my collagen supply). I actually prefer Roppolo's garlic sticks over other places because the dough is thinner, more garlic buttery flavor, and on the chewy side as well. I've met the owner (Marc) on a couple of occasions - - he is always very nice and friendly, greets his customers and is really eager to please. Stephanie and Beatrice helped me out on this visit, and they were awesome. Very professional, courteous, and lots of energy. Steph put my order in asap to the cook and relayed the extra garlic and jalapenos, she double and triple checked the progress and grabbed my pie the instant it was boxed up. As a fan of pizza, I always suggest trying cheese pizza --it is the most basic, and if a place can't handle that, how are they still in business? Needless to say, I had the cheese and a regular coke. They have better than average fountain drinks (some fountains taste better than others). The pizza was decent. There is definitely better pizza out there, but I wouldn't say no to eating it again. In fact, I will definitely be going back (more on that later). The crust was good and the sauce to cheese ratio was on point. It was a good temperature.That is important because some pizza by the slice places serve pizza that is too hot or not hot enough. This was just right. The most impressive part was Steven. Steven was very enthusiastic and friendly. He's one of the friendliest people I've met in my short time in Austin. Customer service is very important. He was attentive and a good conversationalist. Decently good tasting pizza. Ordered from here quite a few times trying something different everytime! I got the supreme pizza which essentially had everything on it you can think of. Pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, veggies, etc. it was good! Sauce was sort of sweet? Which im not used too. Crust is super thick and soft which i highly enjoy but the pizza itself was thin? Ive also tried their plain pie (cheese pizza) as southerners call it lol. Im from Jersey so we call it a plain pie lol. It was .... modest. Nothing special but id eat it again. Theyre crust is definitely memorable but everything else is just there. Last, i tried a white pie! My version is just mozzarella cheese, ricotta some garlic and viola! So delicious. The ricotta was spread throughout the pie, but i typically like the dallops. This was flavorful but the pizza again, was thin. I like a thicker bottom but besides that it was enjoyable. I recently had a sub-par experience ordering delivery through a third party service. I left a poor review on yelp because of it. The owner of the company reached out to me directly and in a timely fashion and not only offered me a full refund - he also offered me a free pie on my next visit. This is the type of character and customer service I honestly never expected, but dispite my scathing review he was gracious and understanding anyway. He graciously explained to me that basically the style of pizza they make uses a lot of dough. And if it sits too long it becomes unappetizing. This isn't a problem if you're ordering it fresh out of a window - it's goddamn delicious and maybe even American style revolutionary. But if you order it from delivery - especially from a delivery service that doesn't always pick it up on time the results are mixed. I'm honestly floored by the level of customer service I received from Roppolo's and think if your downtown and can get a slice hot off the press then that's why it's so damn delicious. That's real. And again the owner of the business not only offered to refund me literally everything though I ordered from a third party, he also offered me a free pie. Due to your unparalleled customer service you not only earned a lifetime fan and customer, but I would advocate that anyone who goes down to 6th street and gets a little to a lot sloshed should find their nearest Roppolo's and thank themselves in advance. This place is located right in the heart of 6th street. There was a constant flow of people here finishing off their night here. The service was quick and the place opens late. There's a big selection of pizzas that you can choose from. They all look a little stale from sitting around but once they're heated up they look like gold! Roppolo's has two different locations on 6th St. both of them have windows and displays that face the sidewalk, so you can walk up and get your slice without having to go inside. They take whatever slice you choose and put it in a mini toaster oven, ensuring you get a nice, baked crust and bubbly cheese and toppings. Shakers of Italian Spice, Parmesan and Red Pepper flakes are on the counter to top your pizza. We got pepperoni and sausage. Slice itself was pretty mediocre, but It definitely hit the spot. Sausage pieces were nice and big, which I liked. Will be back next time we are looking for a quick bite, late night on 6th St. read more

This quick pizza stop easily tops a lot of the fancier pizza places I have ever been to. I literally had pizza for dinner earlier that night and was not the slightest bit intoxicated when I ate Roppolo's Pizza on 6th St, so I really mean it when I say this stuff is good! The slices are HUGE and these people do not skimp on the toppings. I ordered what I would assume is a variation of a meat lover's, which had pepperoni, bacon, and halved meatballs/sausage on top. Service is a little slow and I wish they would have warmed up my slice a bit before serving it to me, but it's still pretty dang yummy. They have crushed red pepper, parmesan, etc. fully stocked and within reach on the counter too. My only other wish is that there were ranch to dunk my pizza and crust into. I wouldn't mind paying more for it either. I'm really craving pizza now, so this concludes my review. read more

Pizza is good. Kinda sad they don't have their own ranch for people to share with. Like just a small jar of pizza on the table but no :/ It's .50 cents for ranch. Not expensive but for a single pizza, the price is ok. The service is alright. He wasn't too bad. The fan here was so strong, it almost blew me away. Hahaha maybe he turned the fan on cause of the heating inside the small restaurant? Idk. But it was very loud and I was a little annoyed. The place is good enough. It wasn't bad. Probably probably be cleaned more though (I hope they clean it more). Anyway, the pizza is huge and tasty so I guess it's worth the price. I went for the Italian with the works, which hit the spot big time. It's a medium thick crust, with fresh ingredients, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, spinach, red peppers, and I rained parmesan cheese on it. This location boasts loads of room to sit and eat, they have a downstairs and an upstairs. I can imagine that on a busy Friday or Saturday night, this place gets bouncing. I ate at the one on 4th and Colorado. I was surprised that in my drunken state I didn't kill myself on the stairs leading up to the trailer that serves this pizza. I don't remember eating this but it was crunchy and that's probably because my friend dropped it face down on the street before giving it to me. But I don't know any other reason that someone would let their namesake go down the tubes. The pizza dough that they use is old and must be left exposed to air. It is like chewing cardboard. The cart in the warehouse district is even worse. I cannot believe that they are allowed to call it pizza. This is the worst example of abusing drunk people that I have ever seen. Failure, complete and utter failure.. That's what I experienced when I ate here. This is another one of those I'm downtown and need some quick food I should get pizza off the side of the street places. I ordered the veggie pizza and noticed that they immediately put my pizza in the oven to re-heat it. When I did get my pizza it was burned and bitter, the toppings were over cooked and the sauce what little I actually had on my pizza was very bitter also. I know they serve mass quantities of pizza but I would mind waiting just a bit longer if I could get slightly fresher food. Sometimes you just have to throw something out if its not good anymore and not sell it to customers after its been sitting around for hours. The customer service here was horrible too, I tried to ask some questions about what was on the veggie pizza and was responded to with "well it has all the veggies on it". I had to explain to the person taking me order that I wanted to know what veggies were on the pizza and I could tell they just wanted me to order and hurry and move on so they could sell more pizza. Don't eat here its not worth it and if your downtown you have more food options. Just walk a bit further over to the east side and have East Side Pies if you must have pizza. read more
