    Apple fritter
    Mari B.

Super lovely staff and delicious donuts! I found them via TikTok, and saw they make special donuts on Fridays. I went on a Thursday but they were announcing a Tiramisu donut for that week. The apple fritter was so crispy and soft in the inside, that was a 10/10. They do open at 5am so if you plan to visit, know that by 9am they had few options left. I also had their egg and cheese croissant which was super hot and the egg was fluffy. They also offer additional seasonings and sauces if you want to add black pepper, salt, or spicy sauces. This was a nice complimentary offer. I do have to go on a Friday to try a specialty donut though.

A great neighborhood donut shop! They have lots of sandwich options and they bring everything out very fast. They do run out of donuts pretty early so I suggest coming early if you want to see all their donut options. The owners are also sweet and it's nice chatting with them in the morning!

Literally fell in love with my first bite! You can taste the freshness and love with each donut! They also have so many croissants sandwiches and Vietnamese Iced Coffee! Owner and staff were so nice and sweet making my first time experience even better! They have a good amount of seating and made me and my kids feel comfortable and at home! Highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Workers are always friendly, even when it's busy, and I've never had a bad experience. I love their Toffee Coffee, especially iced since it comes with toffee bits. Definitely on the sweeter side, recommend if you're more into sweet drinks and being up on sugar instead of caffeine (however they do have more caffeine forward options). Ambience is nice, tall open windows so there's a lot of light that comes in and there's always music playing. Not a lot of tables for big parties, but they also offer some couches with tables in the back. Cheese Bacon Crepe w/ Pasta: 9.5/10, delicious, my go-to. super filling, also has chicken & mushrooms. Pasta is not the most flavorful, but definitely does its job as just the side dish and I always end up finishing it anyway. Toffee Coffee: 11/10. One of my favorite coffees that I definitely treat as more of a sweet treat. The toffee bits in the iced toffee coffee are my favorite. I always crave to get this when driving on Hesperian.

Trying to impress foodies is always a challenge, so I was so excited that they enjoyed their meal. We got so much food this time, I didn't even get pictures of it all! We were so happy with each dish. This place is a total hidden gem. The location is unassuming, but the restaurant is still so cute and cozy. I love this place!

It took a few minutes for us to be greeted and then seated and then some more time after that for our waitress to take our orders. I ordered the Tom Yum crab omelet; my friend ordered the eggs benedict, and we agreed to share the ube pancake on the side. I also ordered the ube latte to drink while my friend ordered the matcha latte. When we got our drinks, mine tasted like milk with light ube flavoring and my friend didn't care for her drink either. I'll bet if we had ordered Thai iced teas, it would've been a lot better. It didn't take too long until our food arrived. We tried the ube pancake first and unfortunately it wasn't that great. The pancake itself was dry and tasteless and the small serving of syrup it came with didn't help. I'm sure the ube pancake entree was a lot better as we saw someone next to us eating it and it was topped with fruit and whipped cream. That would have definitely helped with the taste and dry texture. The omelet was really good though. The sauce was delicious and it was a perfect combination with the rice. I wasn't too crazy about the crab, but I loved everything else about that dish. I ended up sharing a bit of it with my friend as she said she wasn't happy with her meal. I saw our waitress glance to see if we were doing ok, but it seemed like she didn't want to interrupt our conversation. I noticed that she was the only one on the floor and the place was getting busy, but her demeanor seemed a bit cold and she really looked like she didn't want to be there. I'm not sure if I would come back here. The Tom Yum dish was good, but that was about it. Based on other reviews, it looks like their traditional dishes are popular, but for me there are many other Thai places that serve delicious food while providing good customer service. I think that's why I was a bit taken aback with my experience here. I've always received warm welcomes and great service with every other Thai restaurant that I've been to. I might come back to try their more traditional dishes, but it'll be awhile before I return.

There wasn't a wait for food or a table. It was actually pretty empty. Such a homey vibe and the chefs/cooks were super friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed all the food (chilaquiles rojos and the verdes with meat, and three quesabirrias). We couldn't finish it all! You can tell it's all homemade, which is nice. A lot of places don't make their chilaquiles sauce from scratch. We'd definitely return. The only thing I'd pass on is the Vietnamese coffee. Maybe it was our fault for ordering this at a Mexican spot, but it tasted more like cold brew than Vietnamese coffee.

They have seating in the back area but it still a bit snug and the tarps covering the area tend to make it warmer. I recommend sharing an entree, the servings here are very generous! I tried a Vietnamese coffee but it wasn't great. It was too sweet and tasted more like cafe de olla iced coffee. Prices seem fair, especially with the large portion sizes. I recommend you give a try!

I like to look for new spins on lattes to see what barista's are whipping up to make things unique. I came in thinking I was going to get a basic latte, but the Borgia Mocha caught my eye! I asked the cashier if it was a good choice and she recommended it. I was a little unsure how the two would blend and how much orange they would use in it, but it came out amazing! Honestly probably one of the top 10 unique mocha's I have tried and it was delicious! I loved the burst of refreshing orange that complimented the chocolate. The flavors danced on my tastebuds like two separate flavors that blended together as one. Each holding their own note that added value to the drink making it unique. I was instantly impressed and wish I found this on more menus! A classic mocha with a refreshing twist of orange was a pleasant surprise! I'm so glad I stopped in for a pick me up! I also loved all the art on the large walls and there looked to be plenty of tables and seating for people to eat and work at.

Was meeting up with a friend from Berkeley and he found this spot in between the both of us. Pros and cons! + The coffee - holy shit. Got a cortado. And drank it without sugar it was so good. A touch of bitter (it's coffee - duh!) but so smooth, almost nutty but buttery at the same time. + Got a chicken salad sandwich. It came stacked HIGH with hints of sweetness and curry. Freshest produce. Honestly, I was hungry but could only eat half of it, it was so big. + Friend got a warmed cinnamon bun. Incredible. Yeasty, chewy almost crisp on the outside but pillowy soft on the inside. + Wide open space inside -- high ceilings, one big central area. Not tucked away spaces -- which might or might not match your preference. + Perfect amount of coffeehouse buzz. Music playing lowish in the background and lots of conversations. Just enough to quell my ADHD tendencies. * Honestly can't think of any negatives. Prices are a bit high but happy to pay it for such a quality experience. I think my cortado was decently priced -- maybe $6 or so? Sandwich was $18 or so but done really well and came with a bowl of soup (chips, fruit, and something else was an option instead of soup, but tomato bisque with a sandwich? Divine.) - An hour away from where I live but if you live anywhere East Bay, my curse is your blessing ;-)

The wait to order wasn't too long, maybe 15 minutes? While you wait, you pass by a display of cookies and they even have samples out for everyone to try. The staff was very nice, even though they were super busy! We tried: - Free chips & salsa: These are a must everytime I visit denica's. They are a great snack while you wait for your meal. 9/10 - The ube pancakes: These were pretty solid. I didn't think that the pancakes themselves had a very strong ube flavor, if any. I think all of the flavor was in the ube coconut sauce that they come with. However, there is only sauce on the first layer so you might want to get extra! It is an additional $2.75 or so to get the extra side of ube sauce, though. The pancakes themselves could have been a little more moist and fluffy, as they were a bit dry and dense. I loved the fruit and sauce, so that definitely made up for it! I'm glad that I got to try, but I don't think I'd get them again. Instead, I would get a regular pancake and a side of the ube coconut cream! 8/10 - The chorizo burrito: My bf said that this was also a pretty good option. He thought that it could have been a bit more flavorful, but was still satisfied with his meal! 7.5/10 - The side of hash browns: These were good, as to be expected! The portion was a bit small in comparison to other diners in the area. 7.5/10 Overall, I always enjoy my experiences at denica's! The vibes are always there, and they are such a convenient place to grab breakfast or brunch.

The photos from previous reviews helped us make our decision, and that's how we ended up at Ronaker's Coffee Shop. As soon as we walked in, it had that classic mom-and-pop diner feel where you're treated like family and fed like family. The atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, and exactly the kind of place you want to settle into for a good breakfast. I didn't manage to get pictures of everything we ordered, but my boys and I all agreed on one thing: the French toast is the star of the show. It was absolutely delicious and easily our favorite item. We left full, happy, and pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the bill was. That's always a win these days! My partner ordered the French toast special with bacon, eggs, and toast, while I ordered the veggie scramble with hash browns and toast. While my partner did not like the French toast, because it was too eggy and not fluffy, I really enjoyed the veggie scramble. There were so many fresh veggies in the scramble that went well together such as avocado, olives, onions, bell peppers, etc. It was very delicious with the cheese and fresh salsa. A staffer said that their fresh salsa was the best, and we agreed -- it had a lot of flavor and went well with the eggs. My hash browns were also perfectly crispy, which was nice. The ambiance of this place is definitely more of a cafe vibe, and they get really busy so we don't get a whole ton of attention from staff. But overall, I would go back just for the veggie scramble. It's a perfect high-protein dish, and very delicious!

I ordered one of their specials, the Petrale Sole, and it was under seasoned and a bit too oily for my tastes. It also comes with your choice of soup or salad, along with a separate dinner side (rice, spaghetti, some form of potato, etc.) as well. All of these were also just okay. The pricing is reflective of the plethora of sides, which I personally dislike, as I would prefer lower pricing with no sides if given the option.
