Came up to Redding to visit my folks. I felt like Thai food. Mom knew of Rose Garden from coming here numerous times for lunch with co-workers and dinner with Dad. They both love Thai food. Walked in and was told to sit wherever we wanted. They have tables. No booths. Few others having a meal too. Inviting atmosphere. They have Thai, Lao & Vietnamese cuisine. 2 TV's that rotate pictures of the different meals with a description. I went with the Pad Thai w/shrimp. Big portion. Rice noodles were tender with fried egg, tofu and bean sprouts & peanut pieces on top. Served with a lime wedge! Strange to me. In the many Thai restaurants I've been, I've never had pad Thai served with a lime. I don't know the significance... Anyway it was lacking in presentation. Tasted like your average pad Thai. They do offer crispy pad Thai, only difference is its deep fried egg noodles. Also shared chicken Satay with folks. Meatier chicken than other places. Peanut sauce was amazing...Its addictive! I asked for a second cup just so I could smother each bite in it! Dad had Panang Talay. Shrimp, mussels, calamari and scallops in panang curry sauce. Carrots, green & red bell peppers and broccoli in there too. He mentioned the scallops were mushy. Not sure what that means as I don't eat scallops. And that the peppers were big spear chunks this time. He couldn't fit the whole thing in his mouth lol. Mom had the Pad cashew nut w/chicken. Loved it. Ate it all! I would go back. So much more on menu to taste and try. They offer lunch specials. They have Thai ice tea & Boba milk shakes in many flavors served with Boba Pearls. read more

This place is delicious!! I've had pho in different cities and this little place has the best one. Their spring rolls are also yummy. The only suggestion I make is that you give the waitress a bit to warm up to you, her demeanor was a bit off putting in the beginning. And the price is reasonable as well. read more

Different than our normal Thai place back home but very flavorful and excellent service.

First time here on a Saturday around 7:30pm. I get it they are very family owned. Service was poor. Our food was served almost 1 hour after we ordered. The young servers look like daughters/sisters. They were unorganized. We were asked if we have ordered yet after sitting there for 30 minutes waiting for our plates. 15-20 minutes later we got our plates. A couple came after us and their food was served before us. Not only did our food come so late, my order was wrong. I didn't ask for seafood kee mao. I asked for shrimp. Just shrimp kee mao. I know they got pretty busy but if you want your business to last with happy customers and referrals. This Thai/Lao business should be organized and servers need to communicate with each other. I understand the grind. I've been there. Food was ok either way. Would I come back? Most likely no. I want my food in a reasonable and timely manner with servers knowing how to serve and treat people. I wasn't even offered a discount nor something complimentary like a free dessert or anything I wanted. When this happens a tip is not deserved. Good luck with your business. You need to make sure your customers leave happy. If not then figure it out. read more

Horrible wait time for a table and then once you get a table expect to wait again for help. Unless you come in late and happen to be friends with the owners. Once you do finally get food don't expect to be checked on or get any refills. It's the worse service which doesn't make it worth going to for good food. I have been going to the Rose garden since it opened up. Unfortunately I won't be going back to this Thai restaurant I was very disappointed this past week when I ordered the spicy catfish. In the past it was very plentiful but this time there was no catfish only breading very disappointed especially when paying 15 dollars for this meal. We love Rose Garden, the food is very fresh, and unique. I swear they have the best orange chicken I have ever had, and my boyfriend loves the spicy catfish. Holy crap. This place must be real deal, cause my "medium spicy" Thai dish was fire hot! Even though we were planning on pho for lunch, once I saw chicken larb was on the menu, I had to go for that instead. I asked for medium spicy, thinking they'd go "white girl medium" for me, but no, it was definitely Thai medium! It was very tasty, but on fire, like I said! My boyfriend ordered the large beef combo pho (his eyes are always bigger than his stomach), while his mom and sister each got medium chicken pho. They all smelled good, but I didn't try theirs. At the end, we got mangoes and sticky rice, which was good, but the mangoes weren't very ripe. Anyway, I thought it was a good meal and I would definitely come back again. We had an outstanding to go experience last night. Not only was the order accurate but it was also delicious. We order Tom Kha soup with had the best taste and the broth was amazing. We also order egg rolls which were full of goodness and not oily or greasy. Also ordered the seafood green curry and the amount of seafood and the curry spicy was amazing. In addition we had the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. We couldn't believe the amount of shrimps and pineapple. And lastly we order the basil eggplant beef, delicious. This is Not our normal Thai restaurant but we will definitely be coming back again and again. read more

Saw the great Yelp reviews so we stopped in with our daughter for dinner. It smelled good as walked in and the waitress was kind. She was very busy working all the tables solo, and made time to ask how things were and if we needes anything. She's a pro! We ordered rolls and coconut shrimp appetizers. I only ate here once while on a trip here. We ordered the Lap papaya salad and the Khan special which is beef stir fried in veggies. Both were really good. I have to say I've eaten Thai/Lao papaya salad before but this one is the best so far. The sauce and spice level are just perfect! Not too sour or salty or sweet. Just right. It's so good that I actually drank all the sauce afterwards . I got it medium spicy which is like a spicy for other place. I love spicy so it's nothing to me. The Khan special was also good to the taste. Meat was not over cooked and veggies and sauce were delicious. So good I wanted to come back for more the next day but we didn't have time. The restaurant and seating were small. Due to covid they have very limited seating. Best to call and order then stop by to pick up. Don't forget to get some of their chili powder for some extra spice. I want to get some of this powder but not sure where they sell this. I would have given it a 5 star however the restaurant seating is small and very casual which is fine but I ordered a coke last minute and they forgot to give it to me. One more thing is they wrap the food up good so it's still hot by the time we got back to the hotel. read more

And it was pretty tasty! The service was also very good. Great customer service! I really appreciate it. I eat Kasoy all the time and it's one of my favorite IU Mien dishes. When I received the kasoy the broth was clumped in one section of the bowl, noodles not mixed or taken apart, I had to mix it myself. On top of that it smelled overdue and noodles tasted old. Maybe we were just there on a bad night. Maybe we just ordered bad food. Who's to say? Certainly not me as I won't be going back. The food took a long time, and was exceptionally under-seasoned. The waitress forgot all about my beverages and appeared to be avoiding me. Service was overall slow and unenthusiastic. I tend to like little hole-in-the-wall places like this, with no atmosphere to speak of, just letting the food speak for itself. The food didn't say anything and it only made the poor service and drab decor stand out more. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

OMG! The Best Thai Food Ever!!! We are from the Bay Area and eat Thai all the time. But this food is far and away the very best Thai we have ever had. The servings are huge, the flavors are authentic and delectible. But the best was the sesame balls. Hot, not to sweet as very light with not too much oil. Perfect!!! The waitress was very friendly and happy to serve and cater to speculate needs. The chef came out and was filled with joy and you can taste it in the food! Driving through Redding on my way back home to southern Oregon took a chance to stop in for lunch. As a huge fan of beef Pho, the Rose Garden did not disappoint! The broth is flavorful and the thin beef slices were tender and tasty. Comes with the traditional accoutrements: lime, bean sprouts, Thai basil and cilantro, as well as a great selection of sauces to add to your liking.
