This was the first place we ate when we moved to the coast. We live within walking distance and after 10 months we still haven't been compelled to return. The Marionberry Cobbler was delicious, albeit unfortunately topped with a sort of bisquick style dough. And it seems as though a place that boasts so much local food would not shame the beautiful oysters by halfheartedly frying them and cramming them in a Franz bun with old iceberg and hot house tomatoes. I have no problem with these people. I just wish their food was as great as their location. read more

In reading the other reviews here, it's clear that my guy and I might have had better luck if we came for dinner. But we came for brunch, and it wasn't very good. My guy's biscuits and gravy were passable but bland. My veggie scramble was watery. I wouldn't have minded if the prices were commensurate with boring, pre-fab food, but I expected a better meal for what we paid. A quick sidenote for anyone who is gluten-free - I didn't see the dinner menu, but you're completely out of luck for lunch! I was lucky to get there when they were still offering breakfast food or I would have gone hungry. read more

Seriously couldn't ask for a better dinner experience. Stop off with family from out of state. Had the Dungeness crab cake appetizer, it had very large pieces of crab and was delicious. I had the halibut with herb butter and wild rice. So good, everyone enjoyed their meals including the salmon, pasta, and burger. Plus you can't beat the view. The service was great as well. I think this is the only restaurant in the entire seaside town of Oceanside but with food this good, who cares? I went with my family who were visiting from the UK and we were all very satisfied. The staff are quaint, elderly, sweet and efficient. The variety of gourmet entrees are cooked on locale (nothing frozen, pre-made or processed) all of which incorporate fresh ingredients. Sauteed shrimp, crab cakes, clam linguine, and large dinner salad were all superb. The desserts are out of this world. Strawberry-rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream, Marionberry pie, Blueberry pie, Huckleberry trifle, Triple cream coconut cake, Triple chocolate fudge cake, and raspberry cheesecake were delicious. Only bad thing was our waitress forgot my iced tea and would disappear from time to time when we needed things like napkins and water. One more thing, I met a group of tourists from Alabama, one of which knew the son of my dad's best friend back from like 70 years ago. What are the chances of that?! I mean really. Great selection of Oregon wines. Delicious fish. Besides the specials, you can mix and match between 3 fish types and 8 sauces. I had the salmon with Cajun style chutney. The fish was griddle fried - crunchy on the outside, melty on the inside. The sauce had a great kick to it. Plenty of other options if fish isn't your thing. And their marionberry cobbler is fantastic. Also, beautiful view of the ocean. They lose one star because the menu said that the fish came with fresh vegetables, and last time I checked, corn-on-the-cob isn't a vegetable. read more

The service was excellent. Our servers were both very friendly and helpful. At one point we were given binoculars to watch the whales swimming near the coast without having to even ask. The decor is pretty cute, very homey and cozy (there is a parrot theme going on) and the view is amazing. The view makes this restaurant special. The food was alright. I ordered one of the lunch specials, the cod. The fish tasted very fresh and was cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauce was a little bland. The chowder was good too, but under seasoned as well. This little restaurant is a gem on the Oregon coast! The location is spectacular and their food lives up to the view. I have eaten here more times than I can count and have never been disappointed. There are only about 10 or 12 tables, so it gets very busy, especially on a weekend during summer. It's not uncommon to have to wait an hour in peak season. One way around this is to go early. Their dinner menu starts at 4:00pm and if you're there by 6:00 you won't have to wait long. The sauteed oysters melt in your mouth. Their menu gives you a lot of choice. They have it set up so that you pick the type of fish or shellfish you want, then you choose from a number of sauces that they cook it with. My favorite entree, is the gorgonzola & pear pasta with hazelnuts. I'm starting to salivate now, just thinking of it! Their homemade desserts are fabulous. If you don't have room for dessert, you can get it to go. Rosanna's is a small town restaurant with big rewards. If you find yourself anywhere near Oceanside, seek it out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Never in my life did I come to a restaurant, waited by the "please wait to be seated" sign for 10 min while waiters and staff walked by us at least a dozen times without even a glance our way. After a while it actually seemed like we were being ignored on purpose. We walked out. On the way out, talked to a gentlemen who was also waiting and he said the place was serving an unexpected party of 10... that's all fine and dandy but no acknowledgement that a new customer walked through your door is beyond bad. read more

The town of Oceanside is absolutely gorgeous, and there is good food to be found there at Roseanna's - but only if you choose to eat dinner. My brother and I dropped in around 3:50p, and were given a lunch menu when what we wanted was dinner. We should have asked for a dinner menu, but I didn't realize how close we were to dinner service. My sandwich wasn't anything special and my brother wasn't excited about his meal either. I have been to Roseanna's in the past for dinner, and I loved it. My father-in-law grabbed four bowls of chowder to go since my little guy was slightly under the weather. The exterior is nothing to write the folks home about but I was told the interior (by my FIL) was better than he thought it would be. The chowder had a good consistency and a strong herb flavor. Heads up, this place is small, but it doesn't feel too terribly crowded. The Pacific snapper with the lime ginger sauce was tender, flakey, not overdone and the breading was crispy, maybe I didn't read the description, but I wasn't expecting breading. However, the lime ginger sauce was really mild and I could only taste it in the first few bites. The veggies were pretty bland and the potatoes were just two small baked Yukon potatoes, no salt, no butter. I will say this, the clam chowder my husband got and the bread he ordered was amazing. There was also a fly buzzing around constantly and maybe they don't do refills, but or drinks were never refilled. Moral of the story, the clam chowder and bread are simple amazing. Not sure why this place gets 5 stars. They did not have any social distancing outside. No signs outside, no distancing markers on the sidewalk. Nothing. While we were waiting in line for inside dining everyone was crowded in front of the door and no one was 6 feet away from each other. We were constantly telling people to distance themselves from us in line. When we got to the front of the line and the women asked us if we were dining in or take out, we said dine in then suddenly some women who cut to the front of the line said to her, "I have a take out order and I'm here to pick it up" The women started helping her while we and the entire line behind us who also had take out orders watched appaled. She didn't even tell her to wait her turn. As she began helping her we waited another 10 mins while she was getting her order and cashing her out, mind you, we were already waiting 20 mins in line. When she finally helped us she made us wait another 10 mins for someone to set a table.. really??!! So while we finally sit down, we ordered the Alaskan halibut burger which was 17-18 dollars and the Oyster burger. When my friend asked for fries the woman told us sorry we don't have fries only chips. We asked what kind of chips are they? She said lays chips! So we paid almost 20 dollars for a burger and lays chips? So disappointed the burgers were bland too. They literally tasted non salted. I always want to support local but I will never come to this place again. read more

Before I go on to give my overall opinion here is how I personally rate the place: Building/decor/appearance: 5-10 From the outside it doesn't look like anything special. Once inside everything looks pretty plain with little accents thrown here 'n there. Furniture is older-ish and just feels very outdated. There is room for improvement and I think with some help it could be a pretty awesome place - aesthetically speaking. Service: 4-10 Maybe it's because the restaurant/cafe is located in a small town, but the employees don't really exude any positive vibes/energy. While the employees are pleasant, you don't really get an overwhelming feeling of being welcomed/valued. The lady who waited our table was nice, but seemed to give off an attitude as if she was expecting us to know what comes with certain dishes, option for drinks etc... She didn't explain in detail the options available with various dishes 'n such. I decided on some orange spice hot tea to drink, but shortly after she left the table she returned to inform me they were out of that specific kind of tea. "Okay, that's fine. It happens." I thought to myself. One of the orders we got was wrong and had to be redone. I will say, she did seem to know what ingredients were used in the various dishes, because several people in my party were inquiring about specific things - such as dairy. Food taste/quality 3-10 For the cost of the dishes I do not even remotely consider them worth it. I got the chicken fettuccine.... Well it definitely was not worth the $17 (or so) I paid for it. Sauce was very bland, and actually the dish as a whole was practically tasteless. Also, the portion size was not so small as to leave me starving but for the cost I would have hoped for more. The most delicious part of the meal was the little loaf of bread we got before our main dishes arrived. My overall opinion of the place is that it is out of date, overpriced, low-quality food and the employees I observed all seemed to have a very lax attitude. I would be more inclined to return and not place so much weight on certain things if the prices actually reflected the quality of the food, but since they don't and for the reasons I have stated above, I won't be returning. read more

Love this place! Super local and cute with a great view! I ordered a special: locally-caught sole (flatfish) stuffed with crab, artichoke, and spinach dip and baked in a heavenly cream sauce. It was outstanding. My gf ordered the Arctic char special, which was a bit dry (maybe overcooked?). However, it was served with a delicious creamy mango, cucumber, and shrimp salad that made up for the dryness of the fish when eaten together. I had a piece of tres leches (3 milk) coconut cake for dessert, and my gf had a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie. Both were delightful. The only thing I didn't like (and reason for a one-star deduction) was the smooth jazz/Muzak. There are only so many Kenny G songs and instrumental versions of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" that I can handle. read more

My family visited the nearby lighthouse. It was approaching dinner time and we decided to head into town and wanted to find a restaurant closest to the ocean. We stumbled up Roseanna's Cafe and thought, "Why not!" To our surprise, the food was excellent! If you like very fresh tasty fish, then this is your spot. Not a fish lover? Don't worry. They had a great selection of pasta and meat dishes. If you like soup, try the clam chowder which is filled with yummy spices. The ocean views were beautiful and the ambiance was pleasant. The restaurant itself was small yet charming in it's own unique way. The place looked like it hadn't changed since..the 60's. However, it was very clean and every waitress was super friendly. Just okay. We ordered carry out. Our order included the snug sandwich, the high tide and the bacon wrapped scallops. The food was decent but the menu descriptions make them sound more intriguing then they are. Horrible. We waited over an hour for a tiny table for 3. Our server treated us as if we dirt on his shoe. We ordered two entrees and asked what they offered for children under 10? We were brought out, literally, 5 extremely tiny (half the size of a 'chicken nugget') pieces of UNDERCOOKED sauteed chicken with 6 french fries. The dinner plate was EMPTY. THIS is what they brought when we simply ASKED what was available for children...we were NOT given a choice. At any rate, the COST for this children's dish was ELEVEN DOLLARS!!!! The adult meals were barely warm and seasoned improperly. The entire bill, including two cocktails, was over $125,, which would be no problem if we there had been substance to the food served, the server would have been respectful or even professional, the wait had been less.... any one of these factors might have made the cost of this massive disappointment more palatable, but it was doomed, I think, when we decided to bring our son with us to eat. Unfortunately it's the only food game IN Oceanside and after traveling all day, we thought it would be a nice, relaxing meal. Nothing of sort. Also, there is very LITTLE parking nearby so be prepared to walk several blocks. Not a problem for those who are fit but could pose an issue for an elderly, infirm sort. Just saying.. And they've made it abundantly clear (read other reviews) that they HATE children here. Please heed a warning... have some coffee & a pastry in Oceanside, but save your dining experience and dollars for Pacific City if you're heading south, or Tillamook, Bay City, Garibaldi, Rockaway, Wheeler, Nehalem or Manzanita if heading north. There are PLENTY of really WONDERFUL, diversified restaurants with great food, service AND prices to be found AWAY from this horrible house of horrors. read more

My fiancee and I have eaten here several times (it's about 20 minutes from our apartment). We've enjoyed ourselves each time. Pros: the view is spectacular. If you have been to Oceanside, then you'll know how amazing the beach is and this place is the last business before the park and right on the edge of the cliff, so it enjoys an amazing view. The food is solid. Not haute cuisine, but enjoyable and capably prepared. Obviously the seafood is a huge draw here given its location. The dessert menu is both impressive in size as well as in taste. I have a pretty big sweet tooth, so I always make a point of leaving enough room for something sweet and yummy. Cons: the wait can be long (enough so that I don't even think I'd try on a weekend evening in the summer). If you don't get a table towards the west or north of the building you'll miss out on Roseanna's best asset--the view. Service is acceptable, but no more. There isn't a lot of creativity for the basics (salads, for example). Other reviewers are right--the best restaurant in the area, but not because of any spectacular food, but more because of lack of competition/other choices. Nevertheless, definitely recommended if you're in the area and wanting some competently prepared food. read more

I love this place! I go there everytime I'm in town. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner they got you covered. The restaurant itself is homey and cozy but it fits. Try to get a table by the windows facing the ocean beause the view is incredible. It was hard to focus the people I was with because the view was so spectacular! The food here is pretty good, with delicious scrambles for breakfast, tasty sandwiches for lunch, and a great selection of seafood and pastas for dinner. Anything with fish in it is going to be good considering the location. Dessert is killer! Homemade cakes and pies. My favorite is the peanut butter chocolate pie. I can only eat about a half a piece of pie before calling it a day. I only dine here when I'm in town. I've yet to be disappointed! read more

Came in for a drink and app. They wouldn't sit us on the side where we had an ocean view because it was reserved for "actual" customers. Fine so we sat near the bar. The bartender stood there knowing we hadn't been served while he talked to his buddy (only other guy at the bar). The server walked back and forth by our table for 15 minutes not giving us the time of day. All in all sat there for 20 minutes never got a drink or food before we left. I would give it one star but they managed to get water to the table when we sat down. Anyone who lives in Oceanside full time should open a restaurant next to them. I'm sure it would be in higher demand than this place. read more

I recently moved to this beautiful area of the Pacific Northwest, and have previously been delighted to share this spot with each of my guests who visit, and recommend it to other visitors. The views are lovely, and the food has been consistent. However, when I chose this restaurant over other great spots in the area for my 35th birthday and to take my 80 year old mother visiting for her first time, I ended up feeling bad that I did. Not because of the food, but because of how the service made us feel. In the end, after spending money I could have spend elsewhere, our interaction with who I believe is the owner or manager was unsavory enough to make a lasting impression on both of us, especially me, since I have little incentive to want to return. Once we were seated, we waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for someone to come help us, but no one did. After deciding we wanted to stay for dinner versus a lighter meal, (since it was only about 4 pm when we arrived), we wanted to ask someone if we could move to another table with a view of the ocean, given it was a special occasion and I wanted my mom to get the full experience. In an effort to secure the only remaining table with the view (since no one would help us), we moved ourselves. Even still, it took several minutes for someone to come. When I eventually saw someone come out to the dining room, who I presume is either the owner or manager, I wanted to let her know we moved and that we had been previously sitting there, out of consideration. We hadn't touched anything at the table other than our water glasses, which we took to the other table with us, but I understand wanting to change out all the silverware and place settings, which is why I let her know. We could have just not said anything, but we did, out of courtesy. However, the manner in which we were chastised for this was disproportionate to our apparent blunder. Everyone in the dining room was witness to our humiliation. Embarrassed, I immediately checked in with my mom who was understandably confused by this interaction to see if she still wanted to stay, and apologized. Reluctantly, we did stay, and tried to make the most of the evening, food and views of the ocean before the sun set shortly after. My point is that while all these things above are fleeting, the memory of what should have been a special evening has remained. It is for this reason that I'll likely be choosing another of the many wonderful restaurants in the area for future special occasions. So someone had to replace the place settings... that might have cost a little bit of time and money for the cost of the paper mats? The revenue from returning guests would pay for that, tenfold. It takes zero energy and money to be kind, especially to paying customers. You never know what is going on in their lives, and sometimes the reason for going out to eat is for a reprieve. Life is short and precious -- let's please not make people feel bad for things that just aren't that big a deal, in the grand scheme of things. read more

We tried this cafe as a dinner treat with our friends. The chowder was average (we've had many on the coast). The scallops were great as was the house salad. One of our friends had breaded halibut in a ginger-lime sauce with wild rice and steamed veggies--looked and smelled good and she said it tasted good, too. I tried their chioppino and while it came in a HUGE bowl (more like a tureen!) I found it to be rather bland overall. The garlic bread was just blah white bread with melted butter and (packaged) garlic caked on the top--um, no, thanks. The dessert menu was extensive. We tried the marionberry cobbler and the coconut cake--the cobbler was the winner by far. Three stars out of five for the parts of the meal that were okay and for being in a location with a fantastic ocean view. For a lower cost and better meal we'll stick with the Pacific House Restaurant in Tillamook. read more

Pretty good! It's really one of two sit down places to eat in a quiet little town and we really enjoyed it. Right on the ocean with a great view. We had burgers, lunch special hazelnut crusted cod and salads. Wine and beer served and to go. The service was attentive and it was the lunch rush. 1st, the negative, bacon on our veggies when we were so specific about our desire for no meat. BUT, as I always say, it isnt that a place has an issue, its how they handle it when it comes up. Our waitress was SO apologetic and knew exactly what to do. She took our plates away and replaced all items that touched the bacon... Without asking. Now, the food: awesome!! We had the vegetarian penne with gorgonzola... Divine. We also had the parmesan crusted salmon which was pretty good, with a salad with homemade blue cheese dressing (some of the best i've ever had). The rice and green beans were nothing special (the ones without the bacon, that is). As for the ambiance, it is the beach, so it isn't formal. For me, ambiance is all about who you are and who you're with. It was wonderful and the view was very nice. read more

For the first time ever, we were very disappointed with Roseanna's--and it wasn't the food, but the wait staff, and really just the guy who appeared to be in charge. No greeting, no "welcome to Roseanna's"...just a look of annoyance at a glance at the clock when we said we were there for dinner. The other 2 guys waiting tables were very nice. As always, the food was excellent, but I was disappointed that we didn't get their traditional mini loaf of sweet dark bread...it was a mini loaf of white. We were never asked if we wanted dessert, nor were we given an itemized bill--we were rushed out in a hurry...we think he wanted to get out of there fast! I just hope this guy was filling in, as we didn't see any of the regular wait staff. God forbid if he's the new guy in charge!
