We dined here during the July 4th weekend and had no idea what to expect, and we were blown away. The service was excellent, and the food exquisite. We started with the french onion soup (delish) and mushroom rissotto (incredible!) I could have had that mushroom rissotto as my main meal! My dinner companion had the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and so flavorful and I had the fish stew, which was out of this world. I chose to have the sirracha on the side because I don't like spicy food, but it was incredible.. A savory, slightly creamy broth.. and so much fish! Salmon, scallops, clams, mussels, and more! Things to like about Ross: the harbor view, all horizontal lines, water and sky; the dark minimalist interior, black ceiling/golden wood/glaaaaass; the hip crowd who know they're Somewhere. The food has often been great; today was just OK. Grilled shrimp were rubbery; fried oysters were decent but the baguette housing them overpowered them with chewy starchiness. Not so hot about Ross: first, A T T I T U D E. The staff at Ross know that dining here is s privilege and they expect you to know too. Ask about gluten-free offerings to receive a smirking eye roll and No, there are none, and No, they don't know what has flour or gluten or whatever you people call it. Second, the house music. You would swear it was broken, just repeating forever. But no they intend that. When it's crowded the conversation drowns it out; other times, it's unpleasant. Filet mignon cooked perfect but mushroom sauce lacked mushrooms and was too salty. Braised ribs very good but again sauce was too salty. Garlic mashed potatoes excellent. Carrots were raw but broccoli and cauliflower were just right. They should shut down for a week and install some noise absorption material in the ceiling. The din was annoying. Macchiatos were acceptable, They need some wines under $48. Service was excellent. I intensely dislike having a machine brought to my table for credit card use. The location of this place is pretty neat, and it offers a great view! We went on a Monday afternoon for lunch. Space is limited for outdoor eating, so we were happy to get a table. I ordered the Shrimp Po boy, and it left a lot of be desired. It had the tiniest amount of slaw on it, and when I ordered more, I received a small 2oz cup for extra. Food and service were excellent! Wife and I got the French onion which was good... it wasn't as good as our favorite place back home, but it was still good. I think they layer the cheese in the bowl instead of just on top. My wife's crab filled filet was excellent. Very tender and very flavorful. The cut wasn't the best, but if the flavors are good, you can take a cheap cut and make it taste just fine, which this one was. I chose the cod, scallop, shrimp Alfredo over fettuccine. Was very flavorful and was very good but also very rich. This is an excellent place to stop at if you're in town and looking for a bite to eat. Great views and great service. Had another amazing dinner at Ross' grill on 10/3. Cesar took such good care of us. We tried the French onion soup which was delicious- the broth had so much flavor. The mushroom risotto was so good as well as the lamb chops. Also highly recommend it for lunch - try the garlicky grilled blackened scallops or shrimp wrap or burger and their homemade fries are yummy! Why the heck did It take me so long to discover this place? When we finally woke up and made reservations for two we showed up the host made us aware that they were running a bit behind on tables that would appropriately fit us and asked if we would mind sitting at a large table for 6. We arrived for our early reservation , 530, post torrential rain storm. We were damp to say the least. We were immediately greeted by a charming and welcoming gent who escorted my husband and I to our table . We requested outdoor seating . The weather wasn't favorable for el fresco dining but it was a well cover balcony overlooking P-Town beach/ harbor. The view was perfecto! We even observed a very healthy fox emerge from somewhere and just walk the beach and frolic in the sand only to disappear behind some fence? The menu has fish, fowl, beef, and vegetarian, GF items. Terry , our server, is excellent at his craft. He asked the right questions and was attentive without being intrusive. He was a wonderful and added to the " experience ." We started with coconut shrimp appetizer followed by my miso grill salmon with orzo/spinach and a couple of grilled asparagus spears.Scott enjoyed fettuccine in a tomato cream sauce, shrimp, lobster and huge sea scallops (2). I drank peppermint tea, cold from getting soaked walking to the restaurant and Scott enjoyed a Heineken AF. Coffee was all he could do for dessert. We had a show to catch. First, as of 2007, Ross' Grill is finally accepting reservations. While this may not seem that big of a deal, gone is the former 2+ hour waits to even sit at the bar. Having worked in Provincetown for several seasons, I used to recommend Ross' as a great place to have a seafood dinner (their specialty) along with a glass of wine, in a romantic setting. The restaurant itself is situated on the second floor of a small mall across from the Unitarian Union House. The restaurant overlooks the Provincetown Harbor and bay, and during the evening, you can watch the moon rise over the water from their balcony. Warning: The establishment has only a wine a beer license, so if you are looking for hard liquor, you need to eat elsewhere. That being said, they have several higer end wines by the glass that are a bargin at the $9 price tag. The raw bar is excellent, with oysters from Wellfleet delivered daily, and clams that are sometimes harvested just offshore. But the mussles are their speciality. Cooked in a white wine sauce, my most recent experience had my dinner companions fighting for the last sips of the broth. Other specialities are their onion soup. Entrees can be a bit expensive (but then in P-town...dinner for two can easily run $100), so this isn't the place to watch your spending. However, I've eaten here several times and never once have I had a meal that wasn't worth the expense. read more

Great spot, recommended by people on here so the three of us decided to try it. The waiter was friendly, I forgot his name, but he was super helpful picking out a wine. The food was excellent, and came out pretty fast. They do serve bread, although it was not heated up, but it was still good. They have a good selection of food and it's a nice place inside with a fantastic view. I recommend making a reservation for sure. After dinner we sat on the back deck overlooking the bay with the moon reflecting on the water, it was nice. And my friend saw an older couple having sex on the beach. As a vegetarian, I was worried that this place wouldn't have much for me to eat other than salads. There is a mushroom risotto appetizer on the menu, but it's actually made with chicken stock. I asked our waitress if the chef can make a vegetarian dish, so they made me a pasta dish, and it was out of this world- sauteed fresh tomatoes and spinach in what i think was a white wine sauce, with cannellini beans and grated parmigiano-reggiano. Delicious! Everybody else seemed to really enjoy their seafood. The atmosphere there is really nice, and the wines we had were really good. The place is very popular, so try to make reservations in advance if it's a busy weekend. read more

We had a lot of good food here. The oysters and littlenecks were fresh and fantastic. The fried calamari was served with a spicy soy dipping sauce and was also a great app. The grilled romaine salad, the caesar salad, the gazpacho soup also got fantastic reviews from the rest of my table. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star place for me was the crispy cod. My entree was definitely lightly breaded cod fried crispy but it was way under seasoned and fairly bland and flavorless. Too bad, because it was served with some killer garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. I'd definitely skip this one though. The rest of the experience is great, with fantastic service and a really nice 2nd story view looking out over Provincetown harbor. I will definitely come back to this place. read more

Our server was great but when we ordered med rare filet for 42 dollars and got it well done our server said he would get a fresh one. To my surprise the host brought out a plate 5-10 minutes later and placed it in front of me and said this steak is a perfect medium rare, and walked away. We immediately realized it was the same steak back from the line. We called the host, who we later learned was the owner back over and tried to explain to him that the steak is brown and it is well done. We cut into it in front of him twice and no red meat was to be seen. He took it away in a huff. We didn't want another steak from the kitchen so we left hungry. Second meal this week at this wonderful spot. Great views, wine list has lots to choose from with a substantial selection by the glass. Both meals were superb. I had lamb chops the first time and a porterhouse steak the second. Both were cooked to perfection exactly as ordered. My partner had a veal chop and sea bass, which she raved about. I love this place. The first time, we stopped in on a whim after whale watching in Provincetown. It's a small, quaint place, so it's a good idea to have a reservations, but we were luckily able to be seated that night. We were all really happy with the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Everything was delicious. The drinks were great and really reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and helpful. Overall, excellent. Our friend, then, requested that we go to Ross' Grill for her 30th birthday. Again: they didn't disappoint. Our server was excellent - sweet and attentive and helpful but not overbearing. The food was great. The calamari was one of the best that I've ever had. I had the filet mignon, which just melted in my mouth. My boyfriend had the lamb, and was really happy with it. One of my favorite places for dinner in Provincetown. It starts with the beautiful view! The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. They have a wonderful wine selection and amazing Sangria! Their French onion soup is perfection! I had the scallop special as my main course and my Dad and Duck with a plum sauce and we both loved our meal! This place has been a long standing favorite of ours. (We recently celebrated our engagement here too!) Great food, service & atmosphere. The "waiting room" deck overlooking the harbor is lovely. I'd just as soon be seated out there as in the actual dining room. The bartender is a blur behind the bar, making drinks for the waitstaff, waiting customers, and bar customers to whom they are also serving food. Their burgers are fantastic. Basically, they upscale comfort foods to make them a bit more interesting than the typical, but they don't go over the top with fancier dishes, which could otherwise lessen the comfortable, casual atmosphere. read more

Oh Ross', I can't say enough! We found this restaurant about 3 years ago during our annual trip to PT. We went again this year on a Saturday evening and had just a tremendous experience. I had an dish off of the special menu (Lobster with Special Sauce) and it was just out of this world. The mussels for an appetizer were brilliant, as well as the salads that we enjoyed. Visited 3 times (so far), once for lunch, twice for dinner. Lunch: Showed up at the end of lunch, seated almost immediately, very friendly service! For the two minutes we waited, a waiter saw us admiring the desserts so he told us about them. Our waitress was all smiles and helped us with the menu. Lobster roll special was very good, french fries are home made and excellent, salad was generous and tasty. We didn't have room for dessert. Dinner: The thing to get is the rack of lamb, fantastic! I had it both times, it's a full rack of 8 meaty ribs in a delicious sauce. Also at my table were excellent risottos, steak and fish. The soft shell crab app was very tasty and buttery. We made reservations using Open Table, and apparently selected bar seating by accident. When I told the guy at the front desk (who is the owner's boyfriend) that we would like a table, he argued with me saying I selected bar seating and proceeded to show me on his iPad. I told him I would never select bar seating because the person I was with is in recovery. Instead of trying to accommodate us, he continued to argue with me. He was rude and argumentative. My friend was visibly upset and got angry at the guy, but the guy continued to argue. This was the most humiliating experience I have ever had at a restaurant. 4.5 stars. High end cuisine with AMAZING views and rock solid service. Good raw bar list, delicious French Onion soup, decent entrees. One complaint would be for a Cape restaurant the number of fish entrees was surprisingly slim. I had the salmon and it was fine, if a bit uninspired. Well-cooked and the lentils were adequately seasoned but I expected slightly more. The bar is average in terms of its liquor stock but $9 martinis mixed correctly is hard to beat if you're from Boston, the land of $14 watered down swill. Wine list is extensive, cheap, and well-constructed. Kudos there! If this place expanded its liquor selection at the bar and included a few more fish/seafood options it'd be a strong 5. read more

I feel like this is a hidden gem in Ptown. Upstairs in the back of Whaler's Wharf, the restaurant and deck overlook the water and provide a nice view. It is not air conditioned, but well ventilated with fans and large windows. Now the food. We always get the fish and chips. Lightly breaded and flaky. Great portion. I also love their fries, and I'm picky with fries. As for drinks, they have an extensive wine list and make delicious drinks. After our meal, we finished our drinks on the deck. Unfortunately, we never got to eat here. My partner and I made reservations at this place almost one month ago on Open table. Despite this, we were given a high top table that felt as if we were eating at the bar. We politely asked the hostess to move elsewhere and despite the fact that there were two open tablesand several parties of two seated at four tops at the restaurant., she rudely refused to give us a table. She claimed that the other tables were taken by parities of four, yet when I checked on Open table they showed as available. They also have NO two tops because they are only interested in making $ We went to Devan's and the experience was 100 percent different Rude and pretentious - there are better options in P town read more

Starting with the good: the food was very tasty. I got the steak and my girlfriend got the chicken and they were both portioned well and delicious. Now that we got all of the good out of the way, why did I rate the restaurant 2 stars? Well, because my girlfriend and I went to the restaurant on Valentine's day and it was 51 degrees in the restaurant. 51!!! That's freezing! We (as well as everyone else in the restaurant) were all sitting around in multiple coats and hats and shivering. They had multiple space heaters placed around the restaurant but they barely seemed to be doing anything. The staff didn't offer any acknowledgement or apology for the temperature. In fact, despite there being plenty of staff on hand, the service itself was quite poor overall. My water was only refilled once the whole evening and my girlfriend only get 1 refill of her 'bottomless' coffee (which she order mostly for warmth and it wasn't even hot!) While the food was good, I am/was pretty upset I spent my valentine's day at this restaurant. I'm sure we would have had a very different experience in warmer weather, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
