4 trips nothing special. It's a fun trendy place to grab some dinner . Otherwise the food is nothing to rave about. The last order was door dash. The sides are skimpy and the baby back ribs were garbage can material...very salty and over cooked. At 27 $ for a full rack they should be rite. Did I mention the sides. Very skimpy usually a bbq place does not need to support the actual bbq with it's sides but the ribs were junk the sides were not much better. read more

Yes, there is a goofy layout, but that is not thier fault, considering what it was before - definitely an improvement over the mexican place, which was GROSS. I thnk they did a great job with what they had to work with. Growing up in this area and living here all my life, I am extremely glad to have a restauraunt worth going back to in my neighborhood! My family and I have eaten here about 4-5 times since it opened. The service is decent, the drink selection is good, the prices are pretty reasonable and overall, i think the food is pretty good. My favorite items so far are the pulled pork sandwich and the corn fritters with maple syrup...yum! Thier potato skins are really good too - they definitely aren't the frozen kind! I like all of their sauces, and the best combination so far is mixing the hot and original on my sandwich - it's the perfect amount of spicy! The carolina sauce is really good, too. After reading the reviews on here, there is something I feel I must address - yes, your food will arrive rather quickly unless you get the steak, which takes longer. The reason for this is that it is *real* BBQ - which means the meat is smoked, not grilled. That doesn't scream "pre-made" unless you figure that they started smoking it in the morning...also, it's not a large restauraunt and they are not packed on a Slow's-type caliber, so the kitchen doesn't get very backed up at all. They smoke all their meat here. Lotsa home-made ingredients. Super clean, super nice lay-out inside. They have a bar and/or tables and a patio outside. Super-friendly and attentive staff. Did I mention it was "super"? A hop, skip and a jump from the Detroit River and Elizabeth Park, this place offers the best of Downriver eating and living. I took Mom there and we sat at the bar in the early afternoon. By chance, the owner was there and we got to learn about their smoking processes and attention to detail. The servers know most of the dishes because they've eaten them and love them, and fellow customers at the bar with us raved about the food. They ain't kidding. We got two bowls of chicken soup and a pound of the buffalo chicken wings. Believe it or not, Mom had never had chicken wings. These were smoked, big and perfectly cooked beauties server on a hot faijta-style skillet complete with oven mitt attached to the handle. The chicken soup was off the charts. Home-made dumpling-style noodles, lots of chicken, perfectly seasoned and healing. Any hiding demons of a pre-Fall cold or flu were busted and immediately departed me. These people are invading my dreams with their insane cuisine! Taking Mom back today to try the smoked turkey the customers and servers were raving about and we couldn't get yesterday because it had TWO HOURS MORE TO GO in the smoker... wow, just think of that phrase "two hours more to go" in the smoker. Where else does food get that kind of attention? The cherry on top is the prices are very fair for what you get. Really glad these guys are Downriver. On a sunny day, before or after a stroll by the River in Elizabeth Park or a stroll through downtown Trenton you should check these guys out. You won't be sorry. Really good BBQ joint! The pulled pork is perfect. Not dry at all - also not an overwhelming amount of sauce...just perfect! The have the sauces right on the table too that you can put on anything your little heart desires! The mac and cheese is awesome too and the green beans! Been wanting to try this place for a while. Now after going there I wish I tried this a long time ago. First off the inside is very nice. Very unique design inside. And I love the old fashioned light bulbs they use inside. They even have a pretty cool tree with lights strung through it. Okay to the food. The menu took a second to get through, just because there was a lot in it. We got the combo platter app for the table. First thing we tried was the bbq pulled pork egg roll. It was so good I will always be disappointed from now on anytime I go to a Chinese restaurant because they won't be serving me those egg rolls. The app also had amazing onion rings, chicken wings, and delicious sweet potato fries. It even had kielbasa on there that was some of the best I have ever eaten. For the main meal the mother in law had salmon which she said was spectacular. The wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich that came packed with meat. Father in law and I both got the ultimate mac and cheese. He got his with brisket and mine was with smoked chicken. And i tell you this was one of the best meals i have ever eaten. It had bacon pieces and jalapenos in it. And the chicken my God. The chicken melts in your mouth. I had red skin potato salad with it that was superb. The service was also excellent. After one visit this place has become my new favorite place to eat. We didn't get desert but we did look, and they had some amazing looking food on the menu. I'm a huge fan of this place. The first meal I had when I moved here was at Roundhouse, and I was stoked. I live about 15 minutes away, and it has been to my weight's detriment. I'm a huge fan of the Ultimate Mac and Cheese with the jalapeños and brisket, and I keep trying other entrees, but they just don't live up to the Mac and Cheese. Everything here varies from "Pretty Good" to "Wow. I'd come back." Service is at par - rarely friendly, but that's about as far as it goes. I don't come to this place for the service. I am a man and will not be denied my meat. UPDATE: The service is just above par, but this Mac and Cheese is to die for. read more

The food here is pretty good, full of flavor. I love that they have a selection of sauces to choose from, either to be cooked with the food or added to after it is served. The staff is very friendly and tentative. The seating arrangement is nice, with one side with tables and a bar and the other side with booths. My girlfriend and I have become regulars here and always order the Mac n cheese, and I advise you do the same!! read more

Very decent dining experience - nothing really great or bad to say. It's a pretty cool layout both inside and out, and if the weather was nicer we would've enjoyed the outdoor seating. Service was ok - not too personable but there when we needed her. Ample parking available in a nice, non-congested area off the main drag. Now for the food. I had the pulled pork dinner and it was good. However, it didn't seem consistent - some parts were juicy and some were pretty dry - and definitely lacking the smoky taste that's the signature of great bbq. You have I believe 5 options for sauces, and it's nice because they're right at the table n you don't have to worry about rationing them or waiting for more. Above average sauces, which made the dryness of the meat more tolerable. The portion was quite big for the price. The biggest bummer was the side dishes. The green beans were clearly straight out of a can, and the apple sauce wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. Epic sides are often a staple of great bbq joints, so perhaps that's something that can help take this place to the next level. Overall I'm not disappointed, especially for somewhere Downriver. We were thinking of driving up to Detroit for bbq, but the time n money saved by staying close to home made the tradeoff in taste worth it, I suppose. I may give them another try, and I sense it has potential enough that I wouldn't discourage others from trying it. Unpretentious, no hipsters to be seen (downriver is pretty empty of those), and no wait. Round House BBQ is the best BBQ I've eaten in Michigan. Best pulled pork. Good staffing. I am very critical when it comes to BBQ...grew up in Texas and have had some of the best. I will not be returning. Ordered the sampler platter since I'd never been there before. None of the meats were well smoked. Very little smoke flavor at all actually. Ribs: very dry, almost no smoke flavor and very poorly seasoned. Brisket: This was the best thing on the plate. Thin smoke ring and almost no bark, but was seasoned well and with sauce was decent. Pulled pork: very dry, almost no smoke flavor. Sausage: Looked like it came right out of the fridge section and plastic wrap. Not even mediocre. Onion rings: right out of the freezer bag--watched the chef pour multiple things right out of freezer bags and into the fryer while we were there. Not impressed at all by that. Corn dumplings: Awful. The corn was old and terribly chewy. They were dry and had little flavor. The dipping sauce on the side tasted like syrup out of a bottle with a bit of cinnamon added. I did like the sauce assortment, although none were particularly memorable. Very disappointed and won't be going back! read more

I have eaten at Roundhouse quite a bit and I've NEVER been disappointed . The barbecue is awesome . We love the platter for two and the breakfasts hash is delicious! Love the pulled pork too! OK barbecue. I'm sure this will do fine in Trenton. I got the smoked whitefish meal which was pretty good. I like that they put all four homemade sauces on the table for you to try. The Carolina sauce was excellent with lots of vinegar. The others were just middle of the road (Original tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's, the sweet was not too sweet and the hot was not very hot). Good Texas toast for wiping up the plate! For sides I got fries, beans and mac & cheese. The mac was interesting (Cavatappi corkscrews a nice change) but the cheese sauce was boring and they didn't bake it. Really enjoyed our first visit here. Only a few beers on tap, but delicious. The food was phenomenal. My husband got the pulled pork and love it. I got the cod fish and chips and it was great, super crispy batter and their fries are some of the best. They have delightful sauce choices and they complemented the dishes perfectly. So outraged at the experience my family and I just had. We walked in to get a table and the girl at the counter rolled her eye when she saw us. Another girl took down our name and said it would be 15 minutes, wrote our number down and said we could wait in the car. After 10-15 minutes we got a call and walked in, a family walked in infront of us and got seated no problem. When we moved up to let them know we were there she told us she called our phone multiple times and the line was disconnected. We were asked to confirm the phone number and were told the wrong number was taken, when we showed her the phone call went though she said "oh well things are weird" and proceeded to tell us that we couldn't be seated anyways because they didn't have any menus. Didn't even offer to put us back on the wait list or apologize, and was being blatantly rude and just stared at us and refused to acknowledge any wrong doing. I am absolutely disgusted, we were just trying to enjoy a nice day to celebrate my dads birthday and this is a major damper and upsetting situation. read more

I have been here on 2 seperate occasions. On the first visit I was mildly surprised that this place had some pretty good BBQ. Had Brisket and Ribs the first time. Both meat selections were great that day, the ribs were cooked properly and the Brisket was moist and flavorful. Fast forward to the second visit, had Brisket, Ribs and Pulled Pork. On this visit the Pulled Pork was the star,moist and flavorful. The Ribs were a little overcooked for my liking. I do not like ribs that fall off the bone. The Brisket this time was some of the toughest dried out Brisket I have ever had. Soaking it in sauce could not even save it. They have 4 different sauces to choose from the Carolina being my favorite. They also have a original, sweet and hot BBQ sauce. The sauces are pretty good here IMO The sides here are decent, but nothing to right home about. This could be a pretty good BBQ spot if they can get some consistency in meat preparation. read more

Places like this are zombie restaurants: the owners have lost the excitement of having a restaurant, and don't know (or care) what they need to do to improve. I've lived near this place for years and always wanted to try it! So today, before we launched our boat we stopped to get carry out! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich & a pulled chicken sandwich! Got to the boat, opened it up and there wasn't any bbq sauce and both sandwiches were extremely dry. So make sure to order bbq sauce on your sandwich because it doesn't come with any? the pulled chicken was more like big bite sized pieces of chicken breast. Each time I have had different BBQ, and each time it's been great! Two style ribs, baby back and St. Louis, but get the round house cut! Pulled pork melts in your mouth, but the sauces make the flavor. There are 5 sauces and each is very unique, and worth their own standing. Sides are excellent and the wings are very good, get them plain to test all the sauces. I gave it 4 stars so I can up the number after I try a smoked turkey dinner! read more

Heard good things, and always on the search for good BBQ. Famous Dave's just doesn't do it for us anymore so we stopped in here. Had the brisket nachos and had to ask if we had been served ground beef accidentally... waitress confirmed it was brisket. Very lackluster... lots of chips with diced onion and pepper, very little meat, not enough cheese to hold everything together. My fiancee and I both had pulled pork sandwiches. The homemade chips were the best part of the whole meal. Kids got beans and weenies, mac and cheese, and ribs. Neither ate much, and they are pretty good eaters normally. The pulled pork wasn't fantastic. I heard really good things about their macaroni, but it wasn't impressive either. Unfortunately we weren't super impressed. I have dined here twice now. The food was good. I had the pulled pork sandwhich. Smokey flavor and the Carolina sauce was good. Onion rings are battered, not breaded and were tasty! My heart is as full as my belly is today after seeing how kind the management and staff were to an elderly gentlemen who had some special dietary needs and maybe had some memory issues. This is my favorite (and probably only in the area) BBQ place in downriver! You really can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. Everything is good! I come here with my wife and my parents usually. I always end up ordering a half slab of ribs and corn bread. Their corn bread is really really good! The twist with their cornbread is that its baked with jalapeños! This place is quite popular so its busy most of the time. You may find yourself waiting for a table and then waiting for food and drinks. But if you're in the area and craving BBQ, stop in and check it out! read more

My Girlfriend and I had the opportunity to have dinner here last night. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and attentive, and all tables were full the entire time we were there. Now the important part...the food. Having spent several weeks in Texas, I'm very pick about my BBQ. I ordered the sampler platter (ribs, chicken, brisket) and my Girlfiend ordered the pulled pork. The ribs were just ok - nothing spectacular. They had a nice smokey taste, but weren't as tender as some I've had elsewhere. Actually, locally, I prefer the ribs at Mississippi Bayou. The chicken was very good. It had nice flavor and was very tender. The brisket was pretty good, but not Texas quality. The pulled pork was very good. There was a large portion as well. The BBQ sauces were very good. Having a choice of original, sweet, carolina, and hot should satisfy people of all different tastes. The sides were just ok. I agree with a the previous reviewer in that the beans were nothing special and seemed to be out of a can with very little doctoring up. The cole slaw was good and fresh tasting. The toast included with the meals was pretty tasty. Overall, it was good. We will most likely visit again. Please take into consideration when you read my review that I am very critical of ribs and brisket. I have had the best of both, so I have to compare everything else accordingly. read more

overpriced for your fill. But my biggest gripe is there are NO decent side dishes and the sides they do have are overpriced for the portions and choices? Hard to have a full meal when you have your choices between meat and no real sides. They need to add about 4 -5 different cold pasta salads to continue the BBQ theme. The best thing they have going are the burgers, the sweet potato fries and the corn fritters. The pulled pork is eatable like McDonald's. I have also had a few bad experiences. I have seen cooks doing cleanup behind the grill with grease traps and then going directly to handling food, had to turn back my food it grossed me out so bad. I also was served spoiled ham during a breakfast recently as well as brown wilted lettuce on my white fish sandwich. Mind you there was 1 piece of lettuce.
