Have to deduct half a star for a few things - 1) we had to remind our server about the salad, and by the time it arrived we were halfway through the pizza; 2) no soap left in the restroom, which is especially needed after eating a very oily pizza!; 3) server brought leftovers in a box that was soaked on the bottom and literally dripping water - assuming she had it resting on a puddle and totally fine if it's an accident, but she seemed a little irritated when we asked for a new box: 4) payment is done via a tableside machine and they don't show you the itemized bill to check if everything is correct - the total sounded about right so I let it go, but I prefer at least a glance before handing over my card. I've waited a while before posting this review because I wanted to be fair and separate the emotions surrounding our visit from the actual experience. The first day we stopped in, the drink machine was being replaced and the restaurant wasn't open. That was completely understandable. What was disappointing was the attitude we received from the young staff when we simply asked when they expected to reopen. We got the typical "I don't know" response, and when we tried asking a couple of follow-up questions for clarification, they seemed annoyed and really weren't interested in helping. We aren't from the area and had specifically made the trip over because of what this place meant to my mom. We figured the first experience was just an off moment, so we came back the next day when they were open. Unfortunately, the same general attitude from the young staff carried over and really took away from the experience. The food itself wasn't the problem--it was the lack of friendliness, hospitality, and basic customer service. Of course, they had no way of knowing why we were there, and we certainly didn't expect or feel the need to explain that we had just buried our mom. But that's also the point: you never really know why someone has walked through your door or what that visit might mean to them. I wish our experience had been different, especially because Cosentino's held such good memories for our family and for my mom. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to those memories. On our first visit, we ordered the Crispy Pepperoni and the Sweet & Spicy Square. Both were excellent. This time around, we tried the Crispy Pepperoni with honey and the Supreme Square, and once again everything was phenomenal. The pizzas have the perfect combination of crispy edges, great texture, quality toppings, and incredible flavor. Definitely get the sesame crust. It takes an already great pizza to another level and has quickly become a must for us. What really made our second visit stand out, though, was Hailey. She was beyond classy and genuinely could not have been more hospitable. She was attentive, warm, polished, and made us feel incredibly welcome without ever being overbearing. That type of service makes a huge difference and deserves to be recognized. Between the food, atmosphere, and hospitality, Truly Pizza has very quickly earned a spot in our regular rotation. The open-air patio made us feel like we were in Europe. I'd heard reservations were needed, but we went without one and only waited five minutes to be seated. Our food was excellent and the staff was very accommodating with my two year old grandson. We also learned a bit of food history: although Caesar salad is often thought of as Italian, it was actually created in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1924 by Italian immigrant restaurateur Caesar Cardini. We ordered the pizza, choosing from three different crusts. I especially liked the square and sesame crusts. Our favorites were the sweet-and-spicy pizza and the Mike's Honey pizza, both had great flavor combinations. Dessert was a bit more hit-or-miss for me. I could have passed on the ice cream with olive oil. Something about the combination didn't quite work for me; it reminded me of eating a salad with ice cream. Overall, Truly Pizza was a fantastic experience, with a beautiful atmosphere, welcoming service, and excellent pizza. I'd definitely come back for the pizza and patio alone.
