Large portions and really good food and service. I had lazy lobster and my hubby a burger and fries. EVERYTHING was great.

Route 66 was just OK. Good for kids. Lots of menu choices. Drink menu quite limited and same with the beer menu. Fries are good. Lobster bisque has a nice taste and texture but has no discernible pieces of lobster, perhaps a purée is used to make it. Baked scallops were excellent! read more

Good food and great service. This place is very unique in decor and the food and service make it worth the visit. We called ahead and they allowed us a call ahead even though they don't typically take reservations. The food was served quicker than a casual sit down and was fresh and good. Variety on the menu allowed for a great experience for everyone. The kids menu worked well for the kids too. read more

Run of the mill touristy restaurant with the car motif theme littering this place with so much garb and antiques it takes up the shelves and walls of the place. You would never know the place was that big on the outside. The menu is an array of typical tavern food from seafood to burgers and some steaks. We came here with friends 2 days before our wedding. This is not one of my favorite places, but it was hard to find a restaurant that would seat 7 on a Friday night (my go-to cheap place, Rosalies, was packed). This place was pretty empty, which was probably a sign. The burgers and fries my friends had seemed pretty good, especially the fries that I stole from my husband. I had the crab stuffed haddock, which was very bad. It had a friezes, fishy taste and not much flavor. The service was pretty good and the waitress very nicely brought 7 separate checks, but i can't say I would recommend it with so many places in BH. If you do come here, stick with the classic diner food, not seafood. read more

Just had a great dinner at Route 66! The process of making a reservation was super easy and convenient. Hand sanitizers were placed all around for cleaning purposes, plus the employees were all wearing mask for safety. Everyone in my party loved theirs dinners. Mediocre food (pls, pls upgrade to quality mayo in your lobster salad!). BUT, the atmosphere is so awesome, I would overlook the food in this rare instance and return. Absolutely delicious food in a casual and fun atmosphere. The lobster mac and cheese was to die for! My husband had the fried shrimp which were also delicious. Tasty side salads as well that were topped with onion, green pepper and mushroom. The service was great as well! read more

Not sure why this place only has three stars. I am not a fan of diners and only agreed to come here because my buddy wanted to eat cheap. That said, it was great. Fun, 50's retro theme with lots of memorabilia to check out. Very kid friendly with a reasonably priced kids menu with several good options. Lots of variety on the regular menu including a seafood pizza with lobster, scallops, etc, a lobster wrap and traditional lobster rolls. They also have a bam bam lobster roll with a slightly spicy mayo that we really enjoyed. Blueberry pie for dessert served warm with ice cream. Friendly service. read more

The service was great, the staff are some of the nicest I've ever had. The food was mediocre. My vegetarian sandwiches toasted bread tasted like fish so it probably was cooked on an unclean flat top. Route 66 is a diner style restaurant in downtown Bar Harbour, Maine. The ambiance has a retro feel to it-photos of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe all over the place. The food is good and prices are reasonable. It's a good place for inch. I got a chipotle BBQ club sandwich, which was exactly what you would expect it to be. They also had fried macaroni which was tasty and different. They also had very good milkshakes. I would eat here again. read more

This was not the best. It was not in comparison to what I've had to eat at other places in Bar Harbor. Don't recommend this to anyone unless you want basic food at a price I feel is too high. The decor is neat but the food is meh. The chili had no flavor and it had corn in it - yuck. The fries with bacon & cheddar were overcooked & hard. The chicken parm sauce tasted like it came out of a can - bland. Service...she didn't bring us the extra beer we ordered. Cool place, you better like the 50s though. I never expected something like this in Bar Harbor. I had the "shore special". This dish was great. It was compiled of a cup of clam chowder, one 1.5 Lb lobster, fries, slaw, and a piece of blueberry pie with ice cream. The service was a real cool and curious bunch. read more

A very unique place to stop and eat in the heart of Bar Harbor. Husband and I didn't have a chance to visit last time we came so we took the opportunity today, seeing as it wasn't as crowded.
