Interesting little spot in Bar Harbor. Walked in and I thought..."Not sure if I should pray or order a milkshake". The restaurant looks like a cross between a small church and a drive in restaurant. Plenty to look at...old-school knick knacks, photos, signage....like a little museum. We ordered the Lobster bake with shrimp, scallops with a tasty cheese sauce and topped with a puff pastry, the Corn Chowder, French Fries and the yummy Blueberry Pie....and of course, Bar Harbor beer...Everything was great and very satisfying. This place had tons of memorabilia from the 50s and 60s. I had a crab cake sandwich that was pretty good. I also like the fries and the little frier basket that they came in. My dad and I were going to order a Whoopie Pie for dessert, but we were told that they were all out because they were closing for the season at the end of the week. The service was fine. A foggy and rainy day on the harbor so after a morning of rainy but fun Kayaking some perfectly fried Fresh hand cut fries really was a true Maine treat. This was incredibly below average in terms of food. I went to a McDonald's in Freeport and their lobster roll tasted better than the food. Granted, I came an hour before closing and I had high expectations for my seafood, but if you're like me in that aspect then avoid this place unless you're trying to entertain your kids. The decor was nice and the service was great but I drove all the way to Maine from Philadelphia and this place disappointed me. This place was AWESOME. LOVED the nostalgic and antique decor. Menu options were multiple. I had the fish and chips....delcicious. My son had an incredible burger and his friend had a Cuban sandwich. Definitely a tourist place, begging for attention and with the route 66 theme going on (in Maine, of all places). We were the only guests when we were there at 4pm on a Wednesday. Great spot! We came in right as the night was ending and they still treated us great. The lobster roll compared to others had much less meat (reason for the four star) but still pretty tasty. Overall a great experience at rt 66. Fun music and a LOT to look at. Our waitress was very nice and hospitable. She went out of her way to make sure our food was okay and didn't come in contact with the shellfish that we were allergic to. Price was fair and overall an enjoyable experience. Less than impressed. Stopped here after a long day in and around the park. Ordered a burger medium well. Came out medium, and wasn't that great tasting. My husband ordered the seafood Alfredo, which was good, but not great. The seafood was fresh and good, but the pasta was stuck together in clumps. It was good, but definitely not worth the $23 we paid. I don't ever complain about food but I did send my burger back, and they at least took it off of my bill. Otherwise the service wasn't that great either. Waitress was friendly enough, but very slow (and it wasn't crowded). We had to ask for utensils and the rolls that can with my husband's dinner. In a word - blah. The entrance and decor are fun and fascinating. Pretty sure that's the only reason we tried the place. And the waitress was very nice and friendly. My boyfriend ordered the dead end burger, which was large and stuffed with all kinds of stuff. The man inhaled the thing but said it was very good afterwards lol. I, on the other hand, ordered the seafood Alfredo and again it was blah. The noodles were clumped together, the shrimp were tiny and overcooked as were the scallops. No flavor at all to hamburger - it was like it had been steamed. Chicken sandwich - Kind of meh - no flavor. Too much coating on outside. Fries - all 3 batches were slightly burned. Otherwise, fries would've been good. Onion rings - way too much batter on outside - doughy under crispy crust. Like having bread inside the onion ring. Shakes - None of the shakes hat much flavor. Always be wary of an eatery that advertises their decor and how "fun" it is to eat there rather than the quality of their food. To start with, even though the restaurant was nearly empty, it took our server forever to get to our table and even longer to bring us our drinks. The food arrived very quickly after our orders had been taken, but it left a lot to be desired. The Gardenburger and French fries tasted like something that came out of the supermarket freezer case. My wife was only able to finish half of her hummus wrap, which was just a gummy tortilla filled with an enormous blob of low-quality hummus and a few pieces of lettuce and tomato. My in-laws, who are not at all picky about food, were quite unimpressed with their salads as well as the Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Acadia. Both were left barely half-eaten. Also, the soda was flat. I think their fountain needed some attention. A great restaurant if you like to look at '50's and '60's memorabilia and don't care what your food tastes like. This is a fantastic themed restaurant with a variety of seafood dishes and classical American cuisine. Everything, from the moment you walk in, will be full of excellent 60s to 50s decor. The walls are filled, from ceiling to floor with paintings, toys and vintage items that are as fascinating as the food. It is a great place for a date or group of friends to enjoy. There is a small staff though, but the waitresses are sweet and patient with orders, especially when there is a large group. The food is excellent and the decor is eye candy, come try it!
