Service was great. Wine and cocktails were perfect. We are Island Creek Oysters and some from PEI-oysters perfect. One person got shrimp cocktail which was over cooked-pass on that. I had the salad w cashews and goat cheese whip that was amazing. My husband had clam chowder that was so so. We shared the lobster roe noodles based on the coming highly recommended. They were so oversalted I found them hardly edible. The lobster meat was tough. I would never order again. The best part of our meal was the hot honey biscuit we shared. If we go again I would eat oysters, have cocktails and a salad and that's it-skip the entrees entirely. But otherwise, the food was great. Better to stick w what they're known for! read more

It was my birthday and I was looking forward to finally trying ICOB. Snagged a reservation for an early dinner because I was bringing along my three very well-behaved children to celebrate with me. When we arrived, we were greeted at the door and shown to our table in the fairly empty restaurant. All the way to the very back, keep going, keep going, there! The very back dark corner. Perfect. Way to make me feel special. But hey, they didn't know it was a celebratory meal, right? Uh, wrong. I opened my menu a moment later to see "Happy Birthday!" Maybe I jumped to conclusions and this will be a special night after all. Very nice touch to print a personal surprise greeting in the menu. But no, it was not to be. Our waitress offered passable service. Definitely not warm but not rude. Just passable. We had to request children's menus (I knew they had them because I had double checked online that my children would be happy and welcome there.) so they did not come for awhile and we were delayed in ordering due to that, seemingly to our waitress's displeasure. And furthermore, there was absolutely no special pampering or even faux excitement over a birthday here. I don't want singing and clapping (or I'd go to Applebee's) but a warm sincere happy birthday and extra attention to detail to make my night outstanding would be awesome. Especially at this price point. But let's get to the food. The oysters were excellent, I sampled three. The children's menu is very good, no chicken fingers in sight. One of my children ordered off the kids menu (fish and chips) and it was a good portion and looked appetizing. Three of us ordered lobster rolls and I'd have to say they were just average. I admit I am somewhat of a lobster snob due to summering in Maine but really, this place should be able to nail a lobster roll. Fries and kettle chips are good. My husband enjoyed his clam chowder, but I thought it was heavy on the smoke flavor from the bacon and was very glad I didn't order it. He also enjoyed his lobster noodle dish, but I didn't try any so can't comment on it. We did appreciate the wine and beer list, however our first choice of beer was not in stock (although on the menu). We decided to pass on dessert as the experience just was falling flat. So no birthday cake for this girl. Overall, I might go back to try lunch or brunch, but definitely not for a special night out, as this was a disappointing birthday meal. read more

My husband and I, both huge oyster fans, were not disappointed by the Island Creek Oyster Bar! They served us several dozen perfectly-shucked, fresh oysters. The selection was great; we were able to enjoy some old favorites and try some new varieties. Our meals were excellent as well. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. My first time here I sat at the bar, had some great oysters and wine and left. Today I came for a "date" and sat at one of the high tops. We arrived at 2:30PM, the staff was quite awkward. Between the time we sat down and ordered drinks there was almost 45 minutes, that's a very long time. In between that time we had about 4 different people ask us what kind of water we wanted. Once the water arrive we waited another 20 minutes before a totally different person arrived to take our wine order. Then, yes, another 20 minutes before someone asked us what we wanted for food. Although I enjoy taking the time at restaurants when warranted, this was far too long. We ordered a couple of appetizers and then waited. The food came, everything was fine. Burger for him pretty much overcooked but he didn't say anything. When the date was over we walked out. I was supposed to be meeting friends at the bar here later tonight so I went back in, sat down at the bar. I ordered 12 oysters, a lobster roll and a not so inexpensive glass of wine. I am educated and make a very good living, I have no problem spending money on the finer things. When I sat down and ordered the bartender said to me, "Saturday nights are mainly couples, can you move down a few seats". Never in my life has that happened to me and I have been eating out in finer establishments at the bar for over 30 years. I have ALWAYS moved over a seat if the bar starts to get busy and people want to sit down and need more seating, but this bartender was young and had no couth. He had no regard for my feelings and also treated me like I was more of a nuisance than an educated, successful woman who had more than enough money to spend in the restaurant. I will not go back again, nor will I encourage my friends to go back again either. The staff was clearly very young, in many aspects and they missed so many things due to their age and wisdom, not only with me, but with the rest of the customers. While dealing with this at the bar I began to pay more attention to the tables and the other things that were going on at the bar and it was clear that this was a decent restaurant, but clearly not going to survive the long run due to the way it's run. I ended up leaving the bartender a 15% tip, usually I leave 30% plus. I will not be going back again due to the way it's run. read more

A spacious and bright new restaurant. Sat at the bar on Sunday around brunch time and had a bloody mary (perfect-not too spicy), lobster omelet (fantastic) and a huge glazed biscuit. Literally one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. Clearly if you think this is good seafood you are not from New England. I had the Herb crusted cod with gnocchi. The gnocchi was terrible and had a weird pepper taste that you couldn't get out of your mouth for the rest of the meal. The cod tasted like you were eating a wet napkin. It had absolutely no flavor to it at all. For desssert we got the banana cream pie and the pumpkin ice cream sandwich. I was still hungry at this point from not eating my meal. The ice cream sandwich was like two rocks and in between some frozen block that definitely wasn't ice cream. The bananas in the cream pie had a sour taste and the crust tasted and felt like burnt bark. That's how I pictured burnt bark would taste anyway lol. The only upside and best part of the meal was the biscuit we got as an appetizer. They definitely know how to make those. Maybe they should only do just different kinds of biscuits. That would be the best thing for them. read more

I walked into this restaurant the other day with my buddies and we were greeted with what I can only describe as a Greek god in human for Our. server Thomas is probably the greatest point of the restaurant by far. He explained literally everything on the menu because we tried to give him a hard time but a gorgeous man like that could handle anything. my family loses going to the different restaurants in the area but *Thomas* he is a god. a gorgeous looking man who I feel brought us to the business alone by his looks. I would say that Thomas and his looks made most of our trip. he took care of us exactly when we needed him. I had high hopes for this restaurant. It is beautifully decorated - city slick. However, we had to wait 20 minutes for a table (we had reservations) and then they crammed three of us at a table for two. The wait staff was attentive but because the table was small it was chaotic with removing glasses, silverware and then finding space to leave our food. The food for the most part was fine but bland. It is outrageously priced. $31 for a small piece of salmon! We are in Burlington not the heart of Boston. The server said the chef cooks salmon between rare and medium rare and it came out very over done. We sent it back and it took another 15 minutes to have them cook another piece - which came out almost raw. The menus are printed every day but are a jumble of different sized fonts and styles. Gimmicky. And a waste of paper. Perhaps it was an off night but there are better choices out there. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Island Creek Oyster Bar with another couple last Saturday night. The service was a little slow , but not terrible as we hadn't seen each other for some time and we wanted time to talk. The food was another story. They were out of Halibut and flounder so we had a choice of Skate, Bluefish and Cod. All are junk fish and cost very little on the market. We ordered 2 dozen mixed origin oysters that cost about $90 before tax and tip. They were small ,dry and the worst oysters that I have ever had in a restaurant. One of us ordered Skate. It looked horrible on the plate and she only ate a small amount as it tasted like how it looked. My girlfriend ordered Crabcakes and a baked oyster appetizer. The oyster app was 5 very small baked oysters out of the shell in a spiced rice mix. Only $16 ! My friend and I ordered the Strip Steaks which were tough and only $34 each. With tip, we spent $360 for 4 people and had the worst meal imaginable for the price. The wines were low grade and $14 to $16 for a small glass. The restaurant is in a Mall and is very loud and without any charm inside. Absolutely the worst restaurant experience that I have had in recent memory. read more
