We stumbled upon Roxy's after we tried to go to Asalah's, which was closed. It was a cute little diner with a great view of the PA state capitol, but the service was terrible. It took almost 40 minutes for us to get our food even though there were not a lot of people eating there. During this 40 minutes, the waitress never once came by to ask if we wanted more water or coffee. We were about to get up and leave when our waitress finally brought us our eggs benedict, which were not that good. We asked for hot sauce and ketchup, which the waitress brought us. The hot sauce bottle was almost empty, with barely enough at the bottom. The ketchup was full, but two minutes later, another waitress came by to take it from us because her customers wanted ketchup. Also, all the waitresses spent more time playing with their phones than interacting with customers. read more

This is a super spot right by the capital. Booths and chairs areca little stiff. Atmosphere is the busy diner without all the stainless steel. The food is slightly overpriced but satisfies every greasy spoon fantasy I have ever had. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. I would drive out of my way to go here but it is a perfect stop in the morning if you must be in the city. read more

The place looked really cool from the outside, though I only ordered take-out. I got the Reuben sandwich with potato wedges. The potato wedges were a nice portion, crispy and good. My sister and I were walking around and we stumbled across this place and decided to have breakfast here. Honestly I was hoping that I would have an awesome experience and I could give this place five stars and prove everyone wrong. Sadly that's not the case. We went for breakfast and it was pretty early in the morning the place is really small it's broken up into two sections the front walk in section and then it has a table section in the back through a different doorway. We decided to sit in the booth I regret our decision because we were so close to another table with the woman who kept Jackie seriously she put such a bad taste in my mouth I don't think she stop talking one time. I really didn't want her to impact my review because it's not anyone's fault that she was sitting close to us just yakking her brains out. Lol but really not LOL I just try not to come off too harsh. Their menu is only the front of a page so it was easy to pick out what I wanted my sister is a vegetarian so she got the veggie omelette and I guy the number three scrambled eggs homemade hashbrowns toast and of course sausage. It was your typical diner nothing really stood out too much. I thought our service was pleasant and fast and attentive my sister on the other hand was extremely disappointed in our service her main complaint was that her coffee and her water were both empty and she made I contact with our server a few times but our server never came over to the table to fill up her drinks I did not notice this. Our food came out in a reasonable time by it didn't taste very good actually you didn't really taste like anything the eggs had no flavor which I know kind of sounds silly because eggs aren't the most flavorful thing but these eggs kind of taste like tapwater. I don't know maybe it was just me. I select rye toast which I'm pretty sure wasn't rye toast and it was extremely mushy and I ended up not eating all my toast which is kind of unheard of for me because I don't often buy bread for my house and I love ride toast so usually fight get it when I'm out I eat it. The sausage was super sweet I would not call it a breakfast sausage I didn't even eat on my sausage which again is super weird for me because anyone who knows me knows I love sausage. I know that sounds silly but I love sausage! And I've never had home fries like that they were extremely thick and not one part of them were crunchy they also didn't have a lot of taste... The prices are reasonable for what we are getting we had a one dollar check and coupon and I believe my total came to six dollars so breakfast and coffee that's not a bad price to pay. My sister has informed me she will never go there again and I probably will never go there either. I'd rather spend a little bit more and get a better quality meal! read more

We were visiting the Pennsylvania state archives and one of the researchers recommended Roxy cafe, across the street, for lunch. The young lady who waited on us was very friendly and attentive (made a fresh pot of coffee for us). We both had salads and my salad (the Fajita Salad) included chicken, onions and bell peppers that were nicely grilled. A very good salad - I had blue cheese dressing on the side. read more

Had breakfast here on a Wednesday. Rolled in around 9:00 so I think I missed the crowd as there were only a few other people in there besides me. Waitress was very friendly and the food was brought out quickly. Menu is far from extensive, maybe 15 or so breakfast dishes to choose from. I had the western scrambler (eggs, ham, potatoes, onions), sourdough toast, coffee and OJ. Bill was just over $9, so the price was right. Roxys is conveniently located right across the street from the State Capital complex yet has the feel of a small town cafe. We had breakfast here on Sunday and it was excellent! I had the eggs Benedict which was a special that day and expertly prepared. The food arrived promptly and the service was friendly. The prices were reasonable. Afterwards we enjoyed the free hour long tour of the stunning architecture and art of the historic capital building which is a do not miss!!! I eat here mostly for weekend breakfast and an occasional weekday lunch. I've been going here for years and it's always the same people working which is nice. The service is pleasant and quick (most times, unless they're super busy) and the prices are reasonable considering the large portions, esp. for breakfast. I love the Greek omelette, and usually order whatever the specials are, sometimes blueberry pancakes, sometimes fresh sausage. The eggs come with toast, home fries, and meat and I rarely eat it all, or if I do I can skip lunch! It's nice to grab a seat at the counter when I'm by myself -- the staff always chats with me, but you easily be left alone to read. It's bigger on the inside than it appears from the street, so if there is a line of people waitingto get seated, don't despair b/c it moves very quickly. On weekends, you'll see a mix of people -- which is why I love this place -- like hungover 21-year-olds who just rolled out of bed, families just coming from church, bicyclists after a long ride, couples, singles, and everyone else. My only negative comment (suggestion) would be that it's time for a facelift on the interior and maybe replace the tables and floors and repaint the walls. A Friend and I had breakfast at Roxy this morning I had an omelet my friend ordered the corned beef hash . Both came with hash browns. My Omelet was fine. The hash browns were horrible ...cold and greasy. When I told the waitress about the problem, all she did was offer us more of the same. Reputable restaurants typically offer to take the charge for the unsatisfactory food off the bill. There was no reduction in our bill. I. for one, will never be back. read more

We went for breakfast on Sunday. I had the deli omelet, my husband had the huevos rancheros. We both enjoyed our meals. The omelet had a nice amount of corned beef and cheese - it was a good balance with the eggs. My husband asked for hot sauce and the brand they had (Tapatío) was spicy and more flavorful than Tobasco. Our coffee was refilled promptly several times. We went for breakfast there the day we were leaving. Small cafe, very intimate. Great service. Food were great. I had wheat toast, eggs, sausage and homefries and kids had the bacon and ham omelets. they gave you so much food. I wished i knew about this place before we headed home. This was my first time on Roxys and I loved it. Had a great crab cake sandwich. My only complaint was that the bun was much bigger than the actual cake. Biting into the sandwich and I got a huge mouthful of bread. The service was also outstanding. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Roxy's is a great, budget-friendly joint that's conveniently close to the Capitol. It's nothing special, but it serves its purpose by quickly providing decent food. The waitresses are nice and provide great service. Lunch typically runs $9-11 with tip. read more

Having had a wonderful morning passing through Harrisburg for the first time since I left in the early 2000s, I decided to spend a little time there retracing old steps. It was a brutally humid day even before noon and I was very overheated when I stopped into Roxy's after footing it around town. The staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was casual and open. I enjoyed a refreshing break, then, sitting outside the cafe greeting those who wandered in. You can tell a lot about a place by the type of people it attracts. Harrisburg never was never exactly the friendliest place in the world, but these folks were very eager to say hi to a stranger just sitting there as they went in. I strongly suggest you give Roxy's a shot. My only regret is they don't have evening hours as I'll have to return next week and would love to see the museum and the capital dome at night light up from one of those tables. read more

I would give no stars if I could!!! This was the worst experience I have ever had at any establishment! I called when I arrived at the cafe - as instructed by Grubhub for curbside pickup - and when the employee who answered the phone asked her colleague to bring it out to the car, he started yelling and then the line disconnected. So much for curb-side pickup!! Anyway, my boyfriend was kind enough to go into the cafe to pick it up - and that's when things went downhill. The employee behind the counter was not only rude, but threatened to "punch him in the f@$&?! face" because he didn't have the phone confirming the order - even though I had just got off the phone and they knew we were there for the Grubhub order! There were a number of patrons in the cafe eating and other employees who witness the entire debacle. My boyfriend even spoke to the manager about the despicable behavior of his employee and his attitude was no better once my boyfriend stated he would be giving an unfavorable review. I have never experienced anything like this... an older woman even walked out in the middle of her meal after having witnessed all of this. Who employs people that behave that way - especially in a customer facing environment???? This was unacceptable and absolutely appalling. We will NEVER be back and will be telling everyone we know about our experience. read more
