My daughter was begging for shoyu chicken all week. So I took her in there two nights before Christmas. Uh oh. They were out of almost everything, including (gasp)... shoyu! OH NO! We got Orange Chicken instead, for five people. They packaged it family style for us, which I like. Rice in two containers, mac salad in another, chicken in two more... you know what? It was DELICIOUS! Big relief. I didn't think my nine year old would survive this. She did. The chicken was crisp, nicely sauced, had real pieces of orange zest in it I think, not too sweet, just right. Everyone ate it and was happy. My brother in law, who had never had Hawaiian and thought the mac salad was weird until he bit into it... then he stole someone else's on top of his own. That good. Pretty disappointed. Ordered the pineapple chicken and it was not at all what the menu looked like. Cold crushed pineapple added on top of the chicken so it was soggy and cold. No flavor on the Mac salad. Chicken was definitely cooked way earlier. It was tough and very dry. Probably the worst Hawaiian food I've had here. I just moved back to Oregon, having lived in Hawaii for 12 years. That said, the shoyu chicken was really good and the chicken katsu was really bad. Is this one about ready and she said we're working I said you've been working for 15 minutes and she said another 10 to 15 That's not acceptable... this is the only Roxies that I go to that I ever have to wait more than one or two minutes just so I can. We like their food and it's convenient but I gotta be honest, our last four orders were not correct. When you order, you choose your meats and starches. Easy right? No. They have either mixed up or just missed the starch and on on the last two combination orders, I just got the first meat selection and nothing of the second which not only means you've missed 1/2 your entree ... you also only get 1/2 entree rather than a full order. Roxy's has been in our list for quite long and yesterday we got there for dinner. More than dine in, majority of their customers prefer take out. We tried shoyu &Char siu, chicken,Kalua pork and kalbi chicken. The meal has option to choose fried rice, fried noodles and mac. Chicken and pork were all good.Kids just loved mac and noodles as usual. I guess they add Fish sauce or some seafood sauce in fried rice and noodles like Thai food. Beef ribs full of flavor. Hot Sticky Rice (short grain) cold Mac salad, has strong pepper taste, too much for me. Overall exp good. Friendly cashiers, cook was busy. Down side, no phone for phone order pick up. If sitting by window, be prepared to feel like a lost puppy up for adoption as people sit in their car with their headlights on you. No recycling appears to be going on here, especially with Styrofoam containers present. Junk storage in corner visible from half wall trying to cover it. I've been coming to this Roxy's for a long time (since they were on Walker), and usually have had zero issue. However, after today, will not ever come back to this location. This location has gotten my order wrong a few times in the past. Usually it is no big deal. They fix the problem, and everyone is happy. Today, I walked in and ordered the same thing I always order: half shoyu, half teri chicken, with an extra scoop of rice. Easy. Also, I am aware that an extra side of rice is 50 cents, and always pay it. Anyway, I get my order, and my extra scoop of rice is missing. I look inside the to-go box, and I see 3 scoops of rice, no mac salad. I mention this to the woman behind the counter, and she tells me that she has to charge me $1.25 for the missing side of mac, that I already paid for. This may not seem like much, but trying to charge me for something I already paid for is not good customer service. I didn't have the time or energy to argue, so I took my food and said "I am not paying for your mistake". While I am highly disappointed with the front of house staff, and their lack of customer service, the back of house staff is still banging out some great food. I'll be going to 808 Grinds from now on. Moral of the story: Always check your order before you leave the building, and be prepared to argue or pay extra if they make a mistake. read more

This was my first time here and I was hoping they lived up to their reviews. When you walk in, it feels very cramped and with the hot weather, it was uncomfortable without A/C. The girl who took my order was nice enough but not too thorough, I asked for 2 lunch specials, Kalbi and Keiki, I wasn't quite sure what the 2nd was since I was ordering for more than one person. She explained it was sweet etc. When my order arrived, the guy announced the orders but it wasn't what I asked for. After some confusion I just took it since we're open to new items and first time here. It was evident that we both didn't get lunch specials since the Kalbi was the only one with sides and the other (which wasn't keiki) was shredded chicken on top of rice. I was charged for 2 lunches however although I didn't receive that. The staff seemed very jubilant and laughing, at least they're having a good time at work. I was totally confused by the weird passage to the bathroom that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to. There was a friendly guy who made me feel comfortable enough to walk through. Most of the staff seemed pretty friendly. As far as food goes, it was GREAT! My pet peeve is ordering grilled food and you can't tell it's grilled! My chicken was smoky, flavorful, and tender. I ordered the Kalbi which mentions garlic, however I didn't taste any garlic. I will have to examine the menu in advance next time. The food was so good I will be back, but the restaurant was uncomfortable to sit in and I didn't get what I ordered. So this is more 3.5 stars. read more

Sadly they have gone downhill on some food choices since they moved. In an attempt to be quicker it seems they now keep dishes they used to cook when ordered, like garlic chicken, premade instead of cooking it when ordered. While there are other Hawaiian local food restaurants in the Beaverton area, Roxy's has to be at the top of my list. There's just this feel to it that makes me feel like I'm at home on Oahu. Located in a small building in front of Sunset Bowling Alley, Roxy's is a must if you've got the island cravings. The food here is up to par with the local plate lunches that you can get in Hawaii. The teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu, and garlic chicken are all much better than some of the other local grinds you can find in near by restaurants selling the same things, all for a very inexpensive price too! I've only been to this location so far, but I know there is a Roxy's on TV Hwy (a few miles down), and down in the Tualatin Area. I will have to check them out as well, but I'm sure the quality of food and service is just the same. I've had good experiences at other Roxy locations but for some reason, I don't get the same service at this location. Growing up in Hawaii, food is extremely important to the culture and it isn't something to take lightly. When I opened my kalbi ribs, I was extremely disappointed to find that they were burnt. The thing that bugged me the most about it was the fact that someone literally put it into the plate to serve it to me without second guessing it. There was no indication that they even realized that the food was not edible! The edges of the meat were so burnt it turned into charcoal dust. I'm paying $12.50 for a plate, I would hope that I would be able to eat it. I'm going to stay away from this location because I've had better service and experiences at other Roxy's locations. What would I do without Roxy's? I have been coming here since forever ago and I've pretty much ordered the same thing every time: lunch plate with half teriyaki and half shoyu chicken. Recently, Roxy's changed their boxes from styrofoam to more eco-friendly materials and they CLAIM that their portion sizes were not affected by the change; however, I feel like their portions have definitely gotten slightly smaller since I am now able to eat my entire order in one sitting whereas before it could provide me with two meals.. That aside, the chicken at Roxy's is always juicy and packed with flavor. During lunch hours it gets extremely crowded (understandably so) so if you want to avoid the crowds, come either earlier or later in the day and avoid the lunchtime rush. Roxy's will continue being my go-to lunch place for many more years to come. read more

3.5 stars I have gone here twice in search for better Hawaiian food near my house in the Beaverton area. This restaurant is certainly better than the L&L next to the movie theater, but in my two visits I find that the food is inconsistent. Our first visit I got kalua pork (which was a tad salty but I can live with it) and my husband got a loco moco (which was really good!). On our second visit, we decided to both get the loco moco but it wasn't as good this time. They burnt the patties and they didn't taste as well seasoned. The gravy also tasted a little off.
