A great hidden benicia gem. I first went here in search for boba since their isn't any in the area and was pleasantly surprised by the menu. Pre-covid it was a great study spot with both indoor and outdoor areas to get your work on. The chill, old school vibes draw me here too. Friendly staff and great spot to stop by for coffee. They gave a discount on my cup of coffee since I purchased a bag of their popular roast. The Lox bagel sandwich was great and priced ok. They always have the coffee bar stocked (sugar, creamer, etc). Masks are a must inside. There is a table or two outside where you can enjoy your morning drink. read more

Rrags Caffe was a wanne go to place for a spell. usually, parking wasn't available, so passed.. finally got here, got confused by the coffee machinery in the center, coffee beans bins on the right, meager pastry offerings (dude! it's been sold!, didn't dawn on me), cheap sammies i didn't comprehend. brew: (m. 2.1) -medium roast, very smooth, no harshness, easy sipping. -pleasant, easy to order, no pressure -obviously family operated drips: -very reasonable alternative to starbux, lots of tables/satisfied customers. -parking is the pits...maYbe i'll get lucky again. no one parks in the subway spaces. read more

So many good coffee spots but this is one of my faves. I always order an iced white mocha but wanted to try a little something different today. Natalie, one of the workers there recommended her favorite which is a Vietnamese Coffee drink, also known as a "Black Tie". She just introduced to a new favorite coffee drink! This was very yummy so if you haven't done so, try it!!! This coffee shop is very cute. Lots of places to sit and bigger than a regular Starbucks. They also have a variety of pasties, they serve Noah's bagels, some breakfast items and they also start serving lunch at 10am. If you haven't tried this place, it's worth a try. read more

Excellent in-house roasted coffee (better than the overpriced "national brand" nearby) with friendly service and an extensive coffee menu with things you don't see anywhere elsewhere near.......bagels, donuts, and some other edibles available too make this my go-to place for morning wake-up call. read more

Love this local cafe. I ordered a large Thai Iced Tea for $3.75 and Lox Bagel (Smoked Salmon, Capers, Tomato, Red Onion, Cream Cheese) for $6.95. Both were delicious! I was afraid the Thai tea would be powder based but it was authentic like one from a Thai Restaurant. The staff was very friendly and I received my food promptly. The parking lot is pretty small, so you may not be able to find parking during peak hours. But overall the prices are fair, great quality food and prompt service. read more

Omg, delicious. My boyfriend and i came here almost every single day (sometimes twice a day) while we were in Benicia. He just got a regular coffee or an iced tea and i got an iced Mexican Mocha which was really good. It was creamy and the espresso was nice and strong without being burnt. prices were okay, not cheap but not overpriced i suppose. the service was pretty good and quick. their pastries were pretty good too, nothing amazing but not disappointing. I'm gonna miss this place a lot when i go back to LA. that iced Mexican mocha put me in a good mood every morning. read more

Despite the changes made during covd, Rrags still has the best foam on their lattes out of all the newer bakery cafes in Benicia. Their selection of pastries seem to have gotten a little bigger to meet demand which is great! They used to run out of the lemon pound cake super quick but now I can grab one after noon! Staff is friendly and amazing as always, taking all the precautions necessary by continuously wearing masks, wearing gloves handling food items, and sanitizing hands between customers. I was ÜBER excited to hear that they served Boba. Being a HUGE boba 'connoisseur', I was craving a milk tea so I figured I would give this place a shot today. I walked in and loved the "openness" of the cafe. Plenty of seating for sure. I was also please to see their sandwich menu, and I am sure I will be going back for one. The pastry case was nearly empty, however, to be expected as it was already 3:30pm. I did decide to grab a chocolate chip cookie to try, however haven't had a taste just yet. I ordered the Milk Tea with Boba. Price was reasonable for sure. When my drink was finished, I noticed that they do not deal the cup so that one Boba drinker can "shake it up". I took the lid off and stirred up my Milk Tea. I will say they were generous with the amount of Boba in the drink. That's def. A plus. HOWEVER... I took a sip and was kind of stunned. There wasn't much taste. So I took a few more with the Boba and noticed the Boba tasted old and very mushy, almost to the point of dissolving on my tongue. NOT A GOOD THING. And the flavor overall of the Milk Tea was not that pleasant either. I have to say, I am VERY disappointed with the Milk Tea. Maybe it was just a fluke today, but I think I will stick to my regular spot a few exits up. This review is STRICTLY on the Milk Tea with Boba. read more

This is my second time at this place and both times I enjoyed their coffee! My wife has the Cafe Breve (Latte with half and half). Great atmosphere and plenty of room to read, write or just hang out. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Rrags never disappoints! My daughter and husband love their BLTs and BLTAs, I'm obsessed with their chicken salad sandwiches! I also love their chinese chicken salad- so good! The women that work there are always pleasant and friendly! Smoothies are great- today we got iced chai tea lattes with coconut milk and they were delicious. I've been in the Benicia community for years and today was the first time I went Rrags. I ordered a coconut milk macchiato. Delicious and even had a beautiful design etched into the froth. The young lady at the counter was super friendly and made suggestions. I was impressed by how much you could order there! Definitely will be making this my new coffee go to. My sister had something equivalent to a Caramel macchiato, and it was WAY TOO SWEET. I'm not a man of wasting. Trust me I would make sure I get my dollars worth with everything I would buy, but this drink I hated and she tossed it. There is a difference when you actually make the STAR OF THE DRINK THE COFFEE BEANS. It is coffee. Not sugar in a cup that tastes like coffee. Maybe I'm a bit too harsh with the few things we bought. On the bright side, the place looks great! Place is spacious, and a LOT too look at in the cafe. It feels like a historical ambiance. There is a Starbucks not too far from here, and it looks like there are quite a few loyal people that go here. If you are in a rush, then I just suggest to go to the Starbucks a few feet away. If you want a coffee date, go to Java Point Cafe down 1st street. If you are just curious, then please be warned. If you are here to eat, then don't read my rating. 2/5 stars, but giving it a 3/5 because it is a local business, and I am all about supporting your local business! read more

Thirty minutes after eating there I threw up 3 or 4 times. See the photo below. My stomach still hurts. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with bacon and avocado. I am still feeling queezy like I have to go to the bathroom soon. The people at Rrags are really nice. That's why the 2 stars. I will not be going back. Poor service. Over priced coffee. Messed up a simple order. When I went to Rrags as a kid it was run better. Not sure if it's under new ownership or what, but it feels like it really went down hill. It legitimately looks like they haven't done anything including fixing wear and tear. It took ~10 minutes to make a drink that ended up being the wrong drink because the barista was too distracted flirting with other clientele. Ordered a breakfast burrito and find it was a microwaved pre-made gas station type burrito. At least they left it in the original wrapper with label (they could have removed it and served it to me as their own I guess). But when ordering a $7.50 burrito off the menu, I expect it to have been made fresh, not previously frozen then microwaved. read more

This review is strictly for the Chinese chicken salad and superb customer service. The salad is very tasty and comes with a whole lot of wontons. Gotta eat it quickly otherwise the delicious dressing will make the wontons soggy...unless you like soggy wontons. read more

Food (including a very good chicken salad), coffee, Italian sodas, bobas, a delightful staff that will get to know you and remember what you like. Their pandemic precautions are excellent. Was there this week to get some Vietnamese coffee, loved the coffee. I also got a Veggie bagel but on my way home I noticed they forgot the cream cheese so that made it lack flavor and was pretty disapointed by that. It looked like a cozy small place to chill and drink some coffee. read more

Waited 40 minutes for a sandwich! I finally got tired of waiting and watching others be served that came after me, so I went up to the cashier and as I did that the owner came out calling my number. She had my order slip in her hand to just to tell me they are out of the pesto turkey, I just got a refund. She could even do that right, gave back cash for the price of the sandwich but she didn't include the tax. I will never go to this dive again. read more

Rrags is a great family operated independent coffee shop. Coffee, tea, continental fare, wifi, lots of seating. The coffee is really good and the ambiance is nice and cozy as a coffee shop should be. I have some other posts regarding the service (messed up orders) and I have heard similar stories from friends. Also maybe some attitude from the staff. But their coffee is good and if you want something besides Starbucks there are really just two independents in town. The other is Java Point on First St., which, unfortunately for Rrags, has a more romantic location near the water and amongst all the other First Street activity. If we want coffee to go we come to Rrags, for sit-down coffee on a weekend it is Java Point. read more

Excellent local spot to grab a latte and a bagel in the morning. The bagels are brought in from Noah's Bagels fresh daily. They only have a limited amount of them. So, I would suggest getting there early to get your preferred choice. They will slice them and toast them for you. Plus, they provide cream cheese upon request. I usually get a large latte and the taste is far superior to other lattes that I've had. If you are ever in town, give them a try. read more

LOVE! Seriously, I 'heart' Rrags. My best friend, who's from Benicia has been coming here since they first opened, was the one that introduced it to me. She knows and shares my love for iced white mochas and said theirs is the best, she wasn't lying. The customer service is great, Sam knows us and our orders well. The second he sees us walk through the door he's already on top of having them made and if we come in individually the question is always: "one or two" because we often stop to pick up a drink for the other. This is a great place to just chill and hang. We would often walk there on weekends for our morning iced coffee and bagel w/ cream cheese. Since I've left California my mission has been to find coffee shops that serve something even close to theirs. It's been near impossible. There's a Starbucks literally around the corner, don't stop there, walk a few more feet and try Rrags! They're MUCH better and cost less. Win-win. read more

Update! They just started serving Boba! I can not wait to get home from work today to get another one. It's not like a regular boba tea place with dozens of choices. Since it's a new thing, they only have about 8-10 flavors. I tried honeydew and my daughter had the taro. We requested the drinks be made with green tea, otherwise they're not. It's a whipped frozen drink. I gotta say, their boba is tasty, not mushy or bland like the boba can be at Quickly's locations. Their coffee is also still just as excellent as always. And if they know you, and you have a usual order (like what you get every morning on your way to work), they will have your order ready for you by the time you get to the front of the line. read more

Coffee and snack review only. The sweet sweet roaster in the middle of the room adds a star! Coffee was strong and clearly fresh roasted. Described as a medium-dark roast, which was accurate. Protein power par and apricot bars were both very good. Would like to come back and try their food. A few surprising negatives: -Barista did not know anything about the house made roasted coffee such as varietal or flavor profile. Did not appear to be a coffee expert -Only one type of coffee available for drinks which is shocking given that there is a huge roaster onsite and clearly multiple bags of green -No pour over or french press or Chemex preparation, just pumped from the carafe and only one available I hope I am wrong about most of the above. Maybe a Saturday afternoon is just an off time. Strange to have a roaster and feel like a limited onsite coffee experience. read more

Rrags is the best coffee shop in Benicia. One day my anti-starbucks friend Hobo took my to this place and I've been going ever since. After coming to Rrags I vowed that I would never step into another Starbucks ever again. The coffee here is about 1000x better and the staff is very friendly. They have a very wide range of different flavors and I usually go with an iced latte or mocha. I've never tried their sandwiches but I will be sure to do so in the near future and update my review. read more
