Delicious chinese food made fresh. Great value for your money. Very clean and friendly

I've been going to this place since I was little and always loved it. Hard to find consistently good Chinese food around here and Ruan's has always been a go to for me n my family. The last few times I've ordered from here though I've been rushed on the phone and when they are uncertain about your order they will just put down whatever they think you said to make you finish you order. Always loved this place so I just wanted to write a review to ask them to calm down a little bit and not rush their customers. I've worked in fast food n restaurants since I first started working so I understand when people take too long and are annoying... but even then you don't talk to them like that. read more

Very disappointed! I have been ordering from them for years and spend a lot of money when I order from them. The girl that took my order was very rude. They offer a coupon for a free fried rice and made an issue of it when I picked up my meal. It was humiliating and very unprofessional! THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN OAK LAWN! Seriously the best thing I love is the speediness. If you think Jimmy Johns is fast, these guys kick their bootay! Their lunch specials are priced well and are plenty. Some of the food I'd say to skip but most if it is pretty good. I always have the chicken with pea pods and plain lo-me in noodles. They are nice and thick noodles and covered in a delicious sauce. The pea pods are usually very fresh and also the food arrives so warm Everytime you can tell they literally just brought it to me fro the wok. Very delicious I forgot to mention that the customer service can really use a makeover, they are pretty rude. read more

Unprofessional! I work for a doctors office and we order there All the time. I called in our order repeated the order multiple time so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding. Order was confirmed perfectly over the phone. When we received our food it was only half of what we ordered. When we called called and let them know we were missing food in our bag, we were called LIERS, STUPID IDIOTS, and that all we wanted was "MONEY, MONEY". She refused to refund or give us our missing orders. She stated if we wanted our missing food she was going to charge us and additional 17.90 for there mistake. When the Doctor called again to see why they were so highly upset for something that can be simply fixed he got cursed out with every word you can think of. Wow. What happened to Ruans. Used to be really good. Had it tonight for supper. Beef fried rice really dry with very fatty beef, not sure it was even beef. Egg rolls all dried out and tasted that way. Hopefully only a fluke. read more

Ruan's has the best Chinese on the south side. Have never eaten in, strictly delivery, which is always prompt. They offer skinnier-than-normal egg rolls, which are a must. Crab Rangoon are solid, but not excellent. The Chop Suey is a staple, which they do very well. read more

This has to not only be one of worst Chinese places in the area, but the worst Chinese food I have ever had. It is so hard to go wrong with Chinese food. The flavors are simple, but powerful and taste amazing. However, the food here is so bland my boyfriend and I split a large chicken lo mein (my favorite) and crab ragoon (his favorite). The filling to the crab ragoon tasted alright, but was pretty much non-existent. The breading was pretty bad. The true disappointment was the lo mein. It tasted very bland. There was nothing delicious or exciting about it. It was so disappointing I regretted the calories I ingested and I never regret the calories of good food. The real kicker... $18 for a "large" lo mein and 6 crab ragoon. I am not going here again. read more

I want to still love this place, I really do but I've moved on to find a new regular chinese place. We used to only order from Ruan's for years but now it seems like they've cut costs. The crab rangoon used to be stuffed but now you barely get any filling. Wouldn't boycott it forever but it is no longer my number one choice. read more

Love this place! Delivery is always hot and on time. My personal favorites are the Happy Family, Pepper Steak and Egg Rolls!

Order Chinese from here every once in a while- Husband loves the egg rolls. The sesame chicken is good but not great. Mongolian beef is awesome. Fried rice is really good too. Delivery is always fast. It's our go to when we don't want to order from another spot that has grown so large their quality has faltered. Really yummy crab rangoon. read more

This has to be the worst American style Chinese food I've ever had. The food is flavorless and the texture of the food is off. At first I thought the food had turned, it hadn't. It's just bad. My family and I used to love this place! Best place in town! Lately, however, they have been constantly messing up our order. The most recent time we went there, they messed up something as simple as beef and gravy. Not to mention they were not very accommodating to fix their mistake. They expected us to drive back to pick up our CORRECT food. Oh but we got to keep the dish that we DID NOT order and DID NOT eat... Yay. I will just say one more thing, it is very disturbing to go in there to pick up an order and see that there are CHILDREN working there behind the counter! Whether they are "helping" or not, that should not be allowed! It's no wonder orders are so commonly messed up now. Which is a shame because this was our favorite place to go! read more

Our daughter was in the Hope Children's hospital in Oak Lawn on Sunday night for emergency surgery, and we hadn't ate all day, so by the time we got the chance, the cafeteria was already closed. The nurse's station had a book of menu's for local places that deliver food. We really wanted Chi Tung, but they had a 2 hour wait for delivery, and we didn't have the time to wait. We found a menu for Ruan's Chinese food so we thought we would give it a shot. I honestly have to say, that this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. It was even worse than Panda Express. We both ordered the "House Special Lo Mein" which was to include shrimp, chicken and beef. What we got was something like no Lo Mein I've ever experienced. Instead of Lo Mein noodles, they used fettuccine noodles, and they were so over-cooked, they were mushy and fell apart when picked up with a fork. We both got maybe 2 shrimp in our orders, and the few pieces of beef that were in the dishes very fatty and tough, and there wasn't much chicken to be had either. The worst part was the "sauce," which was a thick brown gelatinous gloppy substance with a strange flavor. Also, what was supposed to be vegetables was a few pieces of soggy celery and onion that looked like it had been boiled. After the first few bites, both my wife and I looked at each other and said, "this food is awful"! We didn't even finish a quarter of our orders as we pretty much lost our appetites after trying to eat it. We ended up throwing it in the garbage as we couldn't even eat it. What a waste of $23.00! We were so disappointed as we hadn't eaten all day and now this. And, to make things worse, later on I felt like I had WWIII going on in my stomach! Ugh! I always order the same thing, and love it each time. I enjoy the chicken and broccoli, due to the fact that is tastes amazing and isn't dripping in grease. The same goes with the lo mein noodles, chicken fried rice, and the orange chicken. They always deliver in the time frame that they say. Live one block away. Portions are huge, prices are reasonable . Service is speedy. Always get the order correct. Fried rice, egg rolls, chop suey and more have always been excellent. While driving home from holiday shopping I placed an order for pickup here. The woman who answered was very helpful in that I had never been to this restaurant so I wanted some suggestions on popular dishes. I felt like noodles and by her suggestion ordered the chicken lo mein, some broccoli in brown sauce, the hot and sour soup and crab rangoon. I've tried plenty of Chinese restaurants, especially in Chinatown, so I've had the good stuff. I've also had my share of bad places. Despite the cleanliness of the restaurant, the helpfulness of the staff, and the speed at which my order was finished, the food was terrible. I have never had Chinese food so bland before. Sometimes Chinese food can be salty, but this wasn't even that. I tried adding sriracha and red pepper flakes but even the added heat did nothing (not to mention that the "spicy" broccoli barely packed any heat). This restaurant is very close to my house but I will not be returning. read more
