It's common sense that when a customer walks in and is waiting at the register to order an employee should welcome them and say for example "hi we will be with you in a moment" instead it's complete opposite. Ordered dinner here and while I like Rubio's, I am picky about cleanliness. The salsa bar was so dirty and when I told the girl at the front counter she came over and filled the salsa, picked up the Empty containers on the counter, And picked up the various lime wedges all over the counter BUT did not wipe any of the counters down and there was quite a mess with all the salsa spills. Rubio's is always my first stop when I'm in CA. Always. Some people go nuts over a burger from in and out, but me? I go nuts over Rubio's fish tacos. Heck! My friends knew I arrived safe and sound back on the mainland when I posted a pic of fish tacos on FB. I still don't know why this chain can't migrate over to the east coast...completely baffles me to no end. This location was close to where I was staying and fit the bill nicely. I get that we are in unprecedented times, but waiting 30 minutes for food is beyond ridiculous. I stood on the line here as they took multiple phone orders rather than serving customers in the actual store. After ordering which took a 10 minute wait, my food then took an additional 20+ minutes. I literally watched them serve people who came after me their food. What a horrible experience here today. Best part was they bring my food and then let me know they ran out of one of the main ingredients. Sorry Rubio's but maybe I'll visit again after the pandemic. Honestly, you should skip it too if the service is even half as bad as when I went it's still terrible. I'm still waiting here for my food after ordering 25 minutes ago and no one can tell me how much longer. I like coming to this location to sit down an eat. But everytime I seem to get food to-go, something always goes wrong. This location is in the heart of rancho located next to the movie theaters. It is right on the corner. You cant miss it. I come in here once in a while for the balsamic salad and I add shrimp to it. And I also love the tilapia taco or salmon taco. The shrimp burrito is delicious as well. Staff is nice and they are constantly cleaning tables and the salsa bar which is nice. Anyway, for the third time in a row ive gotten a togo order, they ended up giving me the wrong meal and I 100% positive what I got was someone else's'. I don't care what anybody says...rubios' is comfort food for me when I'm not on a search for the perfect taco on Taco Tuesday. After 2:30pm, $1.50 battered fried fish tacos, $2.00 tacos especial (with cheese and guac) are on sale, Tuesdays only. They may not be stuffed, very little cabbage, the battered fish isn't much, except for slightly oversalted, gets soft quickly...but it still hits the spot somehow...Consistently. At least for the location on Jamacha Rd. The fish is tender and crunchy for a hot second... I don't dare order to go in fear they will go soggy (it's happened before!). So I pick a seat, dress up my tacos with all the good salsas they have (picante and chipotle are my fav), and eat my 2 tacos which usually fills me up. They have decent churros there too. Gets busy on Tuesdays because everyone's got the same idea. Nice people, nice tacos, nice price. 2 tacos for 3 bucks makes me happy. I went to Rubios for a quick lunch. The service was quick and polite. I ordered the grilled chicken nachos with pinto beans, cheese, guac, sour cream, tortilla chips, and diced tomatoes. I also added to green and white onion from the salsa bar. The nachos were good, especially the chicken. There were enough chips with the amount of fixing it had. Rubes always comes in clutch when I need a non-Saritas/Hilbertos burrito. Baja Grill chicken burrito is my go-to and I recommend it. Consider this an "in-review" tip. The staff is always great, especially Hugo who has been there for some years and seems to remember everyone. Been going to Rubio's for awhile but never this location. This one seems to be set up the same as every other one I've been too and just as clean. Service here was very good too. During this visit I used my "half-y birthday" coupon (sign up if you haven't btw!!) for a BOGO free burrito. Decided to try the $8.99 | Surf-n-Turf burrito and it was BOMB. It's filled with steak AND lobster. Such a great combo that tasted even better with some lime & chili verde. Overall: It is a bit pricey, but their burritos are for sure something to try. This is my go to meal at Rubio's, it's been around forever and can still be ordered even though not on the menu. After eating at this location dozens of times over the past few years, I've become increasingly dissatisfied with my experience, particularly the pace of service. Tonight, we were the 2nd group in line, and after 8 minutes, 3 of which were standing at the register, nobody had taken our order. We left. Last visit, it took 28 minutes to get our food after ordering...and then it came out wrong. They seem to care primarily about serving the delivery and phone orders, to the detriment of the experience of dine-in customers. It's been another one of those awful challenging days in the pandemic and I was beyond exhausted and just wanted some dinner that I didn't have to cook or wait an hour for. I called 3 other places on my way home from work and was put on hold for a long time with each call and I was on the verge of exhaustion tears - we've all been there, right?! I finally called rubios and Ivon answered and didn't put me on hold (yay!), she asked what I wanted to order. I was so tired, I ordered a salad that hasn't been on the menu for years but Ivon knew which (current menu) salad I meant and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Honestly, it seems silly to be so grateful for a to-go order interaction but when you have such a challenging day where nothing goes right and all you wanna do is cry, patient and kind people like Ivon help keep ya going. Rubios is probably a healthier option rather than any other Mexican food places in rancho San Diego, I'm a huge fan of the two taco plate, I usually get a gourmet shrimp and a steak taco, sometimes I get fish tacos on Tuesdays just for the taco Tuesday deal. I've taken some home before and I live about 7 minutes away they get soggy as soon as I get home, so I suggest eating then there :) other locations are all so different too so you never know what you'll get lol. Okay I absolutely LOVE Rubios it's one of my favorites even though so many don't like it. It's always fresh, the shrimp and bacon burrito is so great. It does vary in preparation from place to place. Sometimes it has charred jalapeños and sometimes it doesn't so it's always like roulette, "will I have a spicy bite in this burrito or not" never had any problems with this particular Rubio's, and I tried their surf and turf burrito recently as well. I haven't eaten at rubios in a long time. Mostly because I've found other places that I like to buy my fish tacos from. The service here is great. The cashiers and staff are so nice even when their system went down for a couple minutes they kept their cool and apologized. The salsa bar is clean and I like the variety it has. The food is now served on actual plates instead of black styrofoam which I guess is to help feel more like a restaurant. I got the fish taco especial plate. Two fish tacos with cream and guac and a side of rice and beans for 8 bucks and change and that still doesn't include the price of a drink, okay. I wish the fish itself was more crunchy it was soggy. I remember these tacos having a lot more flavor and they just taste bland now. I added Salsa and lime to perk it up. Rubios is just one of those places I visit on whim like today and isn't anything special when there are so many other jems around town. Just couldn't make it to one today on my time restraint. Mahi fish tacos grilled are the best in town. I've been here on multiple occasions in found the same thing customer service seems to be good but the last time that I went the beans seem to be a little cold five stars for my last five visits but this last pass visit was probably just a three to the coldness of the beans. Great location right next to the movie theater now so the YMCA gym would recommend haven't read much of anything else but they do serve beer which is a plus. read more

Stopped by to get some dinner after watching a movie on sat 12/26 at 8:20. We stood by the register as a young lady ignored us and chatted through a window to her friend in the kitchen. Since we weren't neither acknowledged, not even offered a verbal assurance that our business was welcomed, we decided to go to Luna Grill. As we were leaving the restaurant, the same young lady (middle-eastern or perhaps Mexican) yelled: "sorry you had to wait...for like two seconds, peace!" Right up to the moment we were leaving, we didn't feel particularly negative about it, but to have to listen to that kind of abusive verbal language is something no customer should tolerate. We should file a complaint with the dept of consumers affairs, and we will never visit this place as long as this type of practices are in place. read more

Rubios you should be ashamed. The entire kitchen staff needs to be retrained. We dined in as well as a few other patrons. We all received our orders around the same time and every last order was made incorrectly. There was at least four employees working the front and each seemed too busy to assist with customer complaints, even though there was only two cash registers. I ordered the tortilla soup and before I ordered it I asked how big the bowl was. So, I was definitely shocked and disappointed when I received a nice sized bowl that was less than half full and room temperature. After having to deal with the cashiers when the cooks neglected to put sauce and guacamole on Mr. Dawn's tacos, I chose to just eat my soup as is. Love Rubio's but this location is a no! Bought 2 kids meals simple bean and cheese burrito my daughter told me it taste funny I paid no attention she continue to eat and when I tried it because she didn't finish it totally disgusting!!! Beans where burned!!!! Tasted like burned and had some burn black crunchy stuff!!! I told the girls at the front and they looked at each other and one of them said "see, I told you" why would you be serving the beans if you know they are burned???!
