If I could give this place a six out of five stars, I would! This place is easily my favorite brunch place in Birmingham! That's probably why the wait is so long half the time...but it's worth the wait. They have PLENTY of indoor seating space (with a bar area) and lots of outdoor seating space, and take COVID precautions with social distancing the tables. The tacos were some of the best I have ever had. They also have a vegetarian option which is nice. The service was awesome. Our waiter was so kind and timely. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fun and welcoming. We went on a Tuesday morning, so it was not that busy. I'm sure on Sundays, it can be quite busy. I joined the waitlist online while we were on the way to the restaurant which helped secure us a spot by the time we got there. I had the Florentine omelette and mimosa flight. First time eating here...It was really busy when we decided to have brunch here after my daughter's graduation. One of my daughters joined the wait list before we got there so our wait wouldn't be so long. Once we got inside, one of the employees told her that they had no record of her being on the wait list which was really bizarre since she definitely did join. They just looked like pieces of bacon with a lot of brown sugar caked on them. I told Tyler I didn't like them and he removed them for us. The beignets were also disappointing and I've honestly never met a beignet I didn't like. Some were kind of flat, weren't nice and airy as they should be (should've taken a picture). We went to the Ruby Slipper in New Orleans a few years ago so we had an expectation for this place. Ruby Sunshine did not disappoint. This restaurant is located on the old Bar Taco location. Parking can be challenging, but we happened to get lucky with someone pulling out of a space as we were pulling up. There is a public parking lot about a block from the restaurant you can use. We also checked in via Yelp to be added to the waiting list. We actually did that as we were driving to Ruby Sunshine. This drastically cut down on our wait once we had arrived to the restaurant. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. He gave us some good food suggestions. The food portion is large and it's plated so beautifully. This is how you start your mornings. Ruby sunshine is a phenomenal brunch place. I went on Tuesday morning, so there wasn't a huge crowd. My partner and I got seated, had a coffee, and ordered what we wanted all under five minutes. I ordered the Migas and my partner ordered the peacemaker with the Chicken St. Charles and Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict. I really enjoyed my Migas because it had everything that I wanted inside. It included different types of veggies, pepper jack cheese, chorizo, avocado, and some tortilla strips to add some crunch. I made mine with egg whites, but it still tasted amazing. I had a few bites of the peacemaker and I really enjoyed all the different flavors and textures the combine together. The eggs were poached beautifully. The biscuits were huge and thick but it complemented the Eggs Benedict very well. I hope to come back to trying a sweet item off of the menu. This was my first time at this place. I've been wanting to get this place since they opened over a year ago I believe. It's in the Edgewood area of homewood. It is considered an entertainment district so you can get your drinks to go to walk around. The French toast bites were excellent and so tasty!! I highly recommend. The peach bellini was delicious. I got the chicken st Charles with hollandaise sauce instead of the pork sauce. Amber was our server. She was incredibly attentive and sweet!! I will definitely return sooner rather than later.
