We arrived at 9:45am was told 45 minute wait, waited an hour which was fine I get sometimes things take longer but then we get to our seat and waited another 15 minutes for a server to come. Our drinks were quick but we then proceeded to wait for another hour for our food. The French toast bites were hard as a rock. The pancakes and sausage were cold when they came out and the eggs in the tacos were burnt. I understand being short staffed but this was a terrible experience. This place has popped up on my Yelp for a while (when looking for breakfast food) and I have seen it driving down the road often (I work at Vanderbilt). I had always had a curiosity about it, but had never pulled the trigger and gone. Today, however, we came to this area of town to go to Pancake Pantry. It was closed, so we thought, "today is the day" that we try Ruby Sunshine! I am so glad we did! It is now our new favorite breakfast joint... so much better than all the other breakfast places in the area. The food was wonderful! Super tasty and cooked just the way we like it. So as impatient NYers we crossed over came here and not only had the sweetest server named Lily but had the best brunch!! Maaaaaaan I don't even know where to start. My girlfriend and I stopped by just looking for something to eat and it turned out to be the best restaurant experience we had in Nashville. Damonette is the BEST SERVER I've had in a LONG time & the FOOD is f-ing incredible. The service was extremely slow. The food was cold when brought to the table and we immediately asked them to remove the cold nachos from the table and ticket. We were then aggressively confronted by our server and another member of the team as they insisted on remaking it instead of removing it from the bill. We went at 9am on a Monday so the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. Our server never came back to check on us after taking our order which is probably why she forgot to bring us our food once it was ready. The staff is poorly trained and a refresher course on customer service is much needed. The restaurant was out of the most popular seafood items from the menu. Ignored allergy explanation for young child. I ate here today with my family. We explained that my wife cannot eat anything with dairy because she is breast-feeding our five month old son. Lo and behold my wife was eating a meal she did not particularly enjoy due to the aforementioned dietary restrictions and she finds GOAT CHEESE on the bottom of her dish. Even a bite - no matter how minuscule - is enough to ruin my kid's day, and ours by extension. So now an entire day has been dedicated to my son having terrible stomach cramps and screaming his lungs out. On the flights to Nashville the kid is a perfect angel - but he is completely intolerant to dairy. My poor kid. What if the allergy had been more severe? Somebody could've died or suffered even worse. This restaurant doesn't take allergies seriously. My food was actually okay - but a totally unacceptable failure by our server and an inadequate response by management (compensating my wife's meal, and nothing else). read more

However, the atmosphere didn't give me New Orleans vibes-- very average breakfast eatery. The food was also on the average side as well. Very disappointed with the service and the food! Arrived 7/31 at 10:28 am to put our name in for 4 people. Was seated at 11:21 am. Ordered ice coffee and was informed there was no more. Ordered a second coffee that never came. At 12:00 pm the waitress informed us she forgot to put in our food order. We let her know we were headed to the airport and that we couldn't afford to be delayed any longer. We asked for 4 breakfast sandwiches to go. Almost 25 minutes later she came out with sandwiches. First, the atmosphere was really funky and the place felt super clean. The wait was only about 25 minutes at 10:30 a.m. on a Sunday. The French toast bites were beyond anything I could imagine.. pretty much just want them all day, everyday for the rest of my life.The tacos with breakfast sausage were delicious and the pancakes are HUGE and fluffy! This is a new brunch place from a New Orleans staple restaurant in Louisiana. They pay homage to the Crescent City with things like the "Big Easy Mimosa" (which isn't that big), and different creole offerings. When it comes to drinking, save yourself and just get the Morning Margarita. The French toast bites were exactly what you want when it comes to French toast. Crunchy on the outside, velvety on the inside. I had the gulf shrimp omelette and it was packed like Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. It was flavorful and just what I wanted. My friend had the Eggs Blackstone and it looked really good!! The highlight of the meal was the Frozè they serve. It's 10 bucks a pop but is a big drink. Overall, I think it's your standard brunch in Nashville. If your looking for a no frills place to grab some food, this place is pretty good. So here's my take... this could have been an off day because the restaurant across the street was closed and this place was packed. The stuffed French toast came out cold and you can tell that they were cooking it ahead of time and panning it. The omelette was actually really good and nice and hot. Probably because it's the only thing that was cooked fresh for our order. The biscuit was fair at best and the potatoes are just those basic frozen cubed you buy in the grocery store. Friendly service, great coffee (with frequent refills) and delicious food! The French Toast Bites and Fried Green Tomatoes are fantastic, as are the beignets, though a bit sweet for my preference. Their cane sugar butter is so good on their fresh hot biscuits. Even vegetarians have a couple of options, such as the Avo Toast which is a new edition to the menu.
