Me and my family came here and we were there for 30 minutes with half the drinks we ordered and they were wrong, we didn't get a chance to order food at all, the ambiance was blank and dull, this place is just getting worse. read more

Very DISAPPOINTED! We had a birthday dinner for mom so we had a large crowd 20-22 people. Three of us ordered steak and scallops with steaks cooked very different. When the waitress brought it to the table she first never asked who had what steak. Two of us got the wrong steak. Sent them back to the kitchen and mine still was not right. So while the whole family was enjoying their meal, I'm sitting here just waiting. Third time it was right, but I never received an apology. This is a second update on my review. I didn't think things would get worse, but they did. I took what I thought was the "safe" route to make sure I had a good experience. With the voucher I was sent, I ordered online 5 pieces of carrot cake and a children's cheeseburger meal - cost was $12 over the voucher, mostly for tax and tip. I wanted to see if the children's meal was the same size as the adult meal was. I also knew the carrot cake was great, so at least we would all enjoy that. I ordered from Suffolk, which is the closest to me, but an hour drive each way, so I set the pick-up time for an hour later. I arrived and my order was not ready as a large baby shower had just finished and they were backlogged. Not a big deal, but after waiting about 25 minutes, my order was given to me WITHOUT the carrot cakes. Yep, just a kids cheeseburger meal and an apology that they were out of carrot cake. --It would have been nice to have been offered a complimentary drink while I was waiting for so long. --It would have been even better to have come out and told me that 85% of my order was not going to be available before making me wait for a stupid children's cheeseburger that I didn't even take. Being that it was an online order, they 'couldn't' refund me and said I could order something "different". I didn't want anything different. It was an incredible disappointment that the online order let me put in my deserts, but there were not any actually available. I had the manager call the nearest RT's - another 20-30 minutes away, and they had no carrot cake either. I left in tears, with nothing to bring back. Sure, the manager sent me a new voucher for $50, which was $2 short of what I paid online over the original voucher, plus didn't take into account the wasted gas and 3 hours of my time. Very disappointed! The baked potatoes were horrible like they were made the day before and reheated and had brown spot inside. The triple play ribs were so dry they were not edible. Maybe leftovers? The chicken was dry but edible. The shrimp was good. Then we also got salmon. It was dry but edible. For us getting food out is rare. Sure was a waste of good money. Ruby Tuesday has been that restaurant you always knew you gonna get a great meal. You can count on 1 hand how many people were dining in restaurant on a Friday night. That should of been my clue to go somewhere else. Ordered Hickory Salmon w/ side Mashed potatoes & broccoli. Looks good but the side portions are laughable. I knew it must be a kids meal. This cost $17.99 and these portions are so small. The shrimp fajitas taste great but the condiments are petite. Quickly becoming my favorite of the mid-priced "steak houses". The 6oz rib eye is a pretty good steak and very affordable

This chain has been on my "not so great" list for a number of years. It's one of the few chains here in Gloucester County, VA. Before Covid we'd come once-in-a-while to enjoy the salad bar but not so much the remainder of the menu. Recently I've become even more skeptical of their food because there's just no flavor, but they recently presented tater tots and grilled zucchini. Both are darned good. A few weeks back we visited and I ordered the fish & chips. Immediately I realized the fish was frozen and in small strips like chicken fingers. Obviously it's Gordon's from a box. I ate one and it was horrible. Poor waitress asked if everything was ok and I didn't hold back. She sent the manager. I discussed the problem with her and she admitted they didn't have the wherewithal to keep fresh fish. To my thinking then it shouldn't be on the menu. For years they never offered a decent steak; now they're offering ribeyes and others. What took you so long? Most everything I've tried on this menu has been other than stellar, even the ribs which are dried out and tough. Thus last visit was the worst ever. Our party of four didn't enjoy the first thing. One had the salmon (overcooked), Philly cheesesteak with four cheeses (very salty cheeses, he couldn't finish), mine was so bad I can't even remember what it was except the zucchini which was overcooked. The salad bar Is what you make it which was pretty good. The 4th diner had the pot roast and he said it was all right but the waitress said there was a lot of liquid (not gravy) but when it arrived it looked very dry, overcooked and so very unappetizing. One of the few national chain sit down restaurants that we have locally, and it's sad that it's so hit or miss because people staying in the very very nearby 2 hotels probably gravitate to it as a national chain. Their salad bar has been my go to place, but have not been purchasing salads out since the pandemic started, can't wait to get back to it. Take out has been very very touchy, we always tip $1-$5 for takeout usually $3, but only a couple of times have we had Fabulous should be Expected Quality Service. Sometimes they put you on hold and never come back for curbside, a couple of times they put you on hold and someone comes and hangs up the phone, they miss putting lids on sauces etc in your takeout and it spills everywhere defeets the purpose of sauce of the side to dip or just try, they fully forget items in the order, they tell you that you Have to come in for curbside, it seems to be the culture there to work little, other times the meal is packaged up Perfectly with condiments and lids and everything!, it's just unpredictable, but what Should a National Chain be, it Should be Predictable, you should be able to expect the same Every Visit! They don't know here that I won a 50th Anniversary prize on Instagram from Ruby Tuesday, I should wear my attire there, huh, lol. And even the marinara cups on the Crispy Mozzarella Sticks are inconsistent, some know to use the larger dipping cup, others use the small and you run out of sauce after 3 sticks, half the time it's been right and half the time wrong. And the attitude that they give, putting you on hold and hanging up, etc. Some of their new 50th Anniversary menu is pretty good, if you can get it made as it is meant to be---nice Philly Cheesesteak and Crispy Mozzarella sticks, don't know why I tried the Coconut Shrimp though, I don't like Coconut, lol, a no to those for me, lol, it was fresh coconut though, too strong for me, lol! And crazy dried out baked potato, must have been from 2 nights back, straight to the trash! Other times the potatoes are Perfect! We've been there in the past for big church celebrations and sometimes just carryout for 1, but they don't see that a $3 carryout tip one day could come back as $100 small group sitdown tip. And all the email day by day specials they have, gosh I remember how good their steak was, might have to try the Sunday steak special. Not sure why this Ruby's has a low rating. I will say this though it is a great place to eat employees are wonderful we have been going since they opened. When Covid hit just like everybody else they did what they had to do to keep the restaurant running so proud of these guys. So when you go in and there's a little something wrong with your meal or whatever you don't have to be mean just explain it to them because they've had such a hard time hiring people like everyone else. My issue with last night. I dragged my husband there because I was craving a salad with some big ass chicken next to it. I ordered the chicken tenders (9.99) and ended up paying an addition 1.99 for the salad. That was 12$ for dinner. That's fine. Till they brought out my chicken. They were no bigger then my tiny little fingers. No where near the size or even a Chickfla or KFC chicken strip. I said take it back, totally not worth it. I was then told my 1.99 salad was going to be 9.99 because it was night time. THE SALAD WASN'T EVEN THAT GOOD and I had only gotten half the plate. I ended up keeping the chicken but had the hardest time eating it because I was paying 10$ for 4 nuggets that wouldn't keep a kid happy. I pointed this out to the waitress (who was wonderful the whole time) and she shrugged her shoulders. Before I walked out I asked to speak to the manager, I wanted to point this out. She came and said "ya.. I know" and offered us another plate of chicken "strips". I wasn't asking for more food. I wanted to point out the food I had gotten was just silly. I was waiting for a "I'm sorry we will try better next time" Point being here, I came to realize it was no one theres fault. That corporate has sent these out and it was the norm. Of course we come for the Garden Bar! Whenever we're craving a good cold salad, this is where we go. We usually order seafood and ribs and our daughter likes the chicken tenders. Sometimes the salad bar is not as well stocked as we would like and sometimes you don't see your server for awhile, but our experiences have never been bad enough to keep us from coming back. read more

Just had a great dinner. I'm not really sure why the rating is low for this particular location. We are new to Gloucester since purchasing a second home in June 2020. We've been here several times for dinner and have not had a bad experience yet. The service sticks out to me as always great. The staff is always upbeat, knowledgeable and efficient. The restaurant is up to date with COVID precautions, including proving fresh gloves for those who wish to use the salad bar. I don't think I'd mind the gloves as a requirement once the pandemic ends. I did not keep the receipt tonight or would have included the name of our server. She was a blonde with short/med length hair. We were greeted and seated promptly. We had an excellent experience at this restaurant yesterday. The wait staff was excellent, the food was delicious and well presented. The salad bar was well stocked and had a variety of condiments. We had an issue with one of the dishes that my wife ordered which she felt was too spicy. The waitress volunteered to take it back and bring her something else or give us credit on our bill. I then said that we would take it home and I would eat it. A little later the restaurant manager came over and offered to make things right but we told him we did not need a replacement or a refund. I hate to even give this place one star because it was awful and has actually been awful for quite some time and I had decided that I wasn't going to go back, but my husband likes the ribs so once in a blue moon, we do go and last week we were in Gloucester getting some other things And my husband suggested that we go to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch because he knew I was trying to eat better and that the salad bar would be a good option so I could stay on track so we walked in with our three year old daughter, and the place just looked and had a sticky feel about it And we sat down and decided to look at the menu to see if there was something other than the salad bar we might want but I couldn't find anything else that I wanted and even though I felt like $12.95 was a lot for one trip because that's all that I wanted seemed like a lot, I decided to try it anyway. I went and got my salad and the plate was wet. The lettuce looked brown around the edges where it had been cut, and the mixed greens looked wilted and kind of slimy and none of the vegetables or anything on that salad bar looked fresh to me, but I tried to pick out the best of what I could get And I took it back to the table and I was trying to eat it and I just looked at my husband and I was like, don't get the salad bar, I can't even eat this so he canceled his order and we asked to have mine removed. He ended up getting a cup of loaded potato soup and my daughter got a kids mac & cheese, when the waitress brought my husband's soup to the table, it was about 2 tablespoons of what looked to be some sort of pink goop, and it looked awful.Then my daughters mac & cheese showed up and that was a box mac & cheese. It looked like Kraft Mac & cheese and it wasn't even Kraft mac & cheese that had been made that day because it wasn't cheesy or creamy and the noodles looked dry, she of course is only three so she didn't care and ate it anyway but we ended up paying $16 and some change for 2 tablespoons of soup, some crappy mac & cheese, a Sprite and a Coke. The waitress was nice but if I had a table that I knew that was unhappy, I would've at least been apologetic and I would've gotten my manager and made her aware that I had a table that was unhappy and let the manager see how she wanted to handle that situation to ensure that she didn't lose customers at her location and tried to make us happy, but that didn't happen so safe to say we will not be back. read more

We ventured to Ruby Tuesday's in Gloucester after church today. The restaurant was hopping, and we were pleased to learn that our favorite server, Kayla, was working today and would be hapoy to wait on us. Our lunch was excellent, from the Shrimp Fondue to the Smokehouse Burgers to my scrumptious Chicken Bella. Our wonderful waitress, Kayla, made the dining experience extra special with her cheerful exuberance and winning smile. We split the decadent Chocolate Fall cake three ways for dessert, and it was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Both Matt and Megan, the Managers on Duty, stopped by to chat and make sure we were happy. Bravo, Team Tuesday! We shall return!! read more

Eating here as I write this review. I came in for the salad bar only to be sorely disappointed. There were no plates available for the first 15 minutes. Additionally, what is usually a great salad bar and as in ruins! Only two of the four lettuce bins had contents, and those were filled with limp, watery leaves. Over half the topping bowls were empty.....no tomatos, limas, broccoli salad, pasta salad, cheese, etc. I have never seen a salad bar at a Ruby Tuesdays in such shambles. There are numerous wait staff working and a host, who is just standing. My waitress is very nice but I came for salad, not companionship When the bar was replenished (almost 20 minutes), the lettuce that was replaced was wet, wilted, covered in brown spots and left dirty marks on my plate when the leaf was lifted. The salad prep person was standing beside me, and when I showed her, she just walked off. I did report to the manager who was very responsive, and took the bad lettuce away to be replaced. Unfortunately, my experience to that point ruined this restaurant for me. Update: when I reported the salad bar condition to the manager, I was told the salad was "on him". I related at that time I was no longer I interested. When my bill came, I was still charged for the salad bar. So much for any hope of service recovery. read more

This Ruby Tuesday experience was the worst yet and we have been going there for years. Pre-Covid the salad bar was always stocked and the person who stocked the bar was attentive. Tonight the salad bar not only wasn't stocked, it didn't have many items they normally have. The salad bar person kept going out for smoke breaks and got mad when the manager went outside to get him. In Gloucester, VA in an area known as the Middle Penninsula, there is a war brewing. A war that has spanned the test of time and is so emotional that men lock their jaws and and look down for fear of betraying tears of anguish. Stopped in here recently with my mom, generally I am pretty fond of Ruby Tuesday. However on tonights visit we where seated promptly. But where seated at a table with a rather large wet spot on the seat. Which the the waitress wiped up after telling/taking our orders but forgetting to ask for drinks. The waitress was relatively prompt and attentive. The food however took an exceptionally long time to be brought out (20 minuets at least) and my mother's spaghetti squash was cold. The manager did come out later on and talked to a couple of the tables. He quickly checked to see what the problem with the kitchen was. Lo and behold that was actually the last spaghetti squash for the night. He then offered us free desert in addition to reheating the food. Overall not a terrible experience. Giving it a one star for now. The $19 ribeye was paper thin and pushing medium well when I specifically said that I would like it rare and would send it back if it wasnt. Honestly I would have settled (and half expected) a medium rare but this stake was just dry. I have ordered the jalapeño pretzel burger instead and will update once I get it. OK so I got the burger. It was crap. I ate it because I was starving and didn't feel like sending it back. (I've seen waiting, no thanks.) Maybe this bad visit was just a fluke but I won't be coming back to find out though. Usually very good, service this visit was strange and disappointing. 1st we were told we couldn't sit in a certain area because the server was busy?? Then we got a waiter who served like it was his 1st day. It took 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee. No straws for the drinks. No spoon for the coffee. And when we asked for some unseasoned pita bread, which is and has been gladly provided at this and all othe Ruby Tuesdays, we we told it was basically inconvenient this time???? I won't usually write a bad review specially after just one visit but this location merits it! This was the worst experience that I've ever had at a Ruby Tuesday's, I know it's a chain restaurant and it's really just one step above fast food but you could do the basics right. We walked in about an hour and a half before closing the staff and what looked to be the manager were all sitting around a table talking, they looked at us like we were really bothering them even coming in. They then let us stand there in the doorway for almost 5 minutes without coming over, they finally got up and came over to us with the worst attitude and said well if you want we can get you a table. Now mind you there were seven other tables in the restaurant that night it wasn't like we were the only ones there. The server was horrible and made us feel unwelcome. The table they sat us at was dirty and we had to ask twice before she cleaned it. The manager seem totally unwilling to do anything about the staff or care whether our experience was good or not. The food came out incredibly slowly (40 minutes) and quite honestly I didn't even eat it because I figured if this is how terrible the front of the house is run I was afraid the kitchen might even be worse? In retrospect I should have just left but my friends were starving so I stayed. Ruby Tuesday's corporate if you're reading this it's time to clean house at this location or retraining them in basic customer service. If Yelp would let me I would give this location no stars!!
