We here for a meetup with several old friends - definitely a 'throwback' location with 80s/90s vibe (meaning it doesn't appear to have been updated for awhile;). Food was good standard chain restaurant food, service was snappy. I don't get to a Ruby's very often - it definitely wasn't bad. If I'm in the area again, I'd eat here again. Just renovated and given a facelift. Unfortunately it was putting lipstick on a pig. The food is still lack-luster. It was about 1pm and the lettuce at the salad bar was browning - and it had just been stocked. Potatoes skins were dry as the desert and barely had any cheese or bacon. Ribeye quesadilla was okay but wasn't very spiced up. No real flavor. So they did a nice job on the renovations. Unfortunately the menu is still the same and not a reflection on the local staff. Until corporate comes up with some better items and flavors, going elsewhere. read more

First off, I do like the updated decor. However, that doesn't make up for poor food quality. I was part of a party of five and all of our food was subpar at best. All of our entrées were overcooked or recycled food... By that I mean, I ordered tater tots and when I received them, you could see that they were refried, greasy and hard as nails to eat. My chicken was the smallest chicken breast ever despite the price. The server seemed confused and more concerned about socializing with other servers than to be taking care of their customers, Our entire bill which included drinks, meals, The salad bar and desserts was not cheap, and if this restaurant expects to be competitive these days they must step up their game by providing better food quality, more attentive service, and actually show that they value their customers! You simply can't just throw some paint on the walls and put up some new lights and raise the prices and make people feel like they're getting a better meal when the food is still downright lousy! Hoping this place makes it but am very doubtful... And maybe an Applebee's at this location would do much much better! read more

Overall, this establishment is okay. The service is very nice and ever had an upbeat attitude. However, after a few hours, you can tell the "Garden Bar" has been run through well enough times. Also, it takes a bit of time for the food to come out. I figured since ordering steak and scallops, this would make sense. However, to my disappointment, when our food came out the rice was mildly warm and dry. The broccoli was unseasoned and warm as well (not a huge deal). On the positive side, our scallops and steak were properly cooked and steaming hot. The decor of this place definitely has not changed over the years. It wouldn't hurt to update the lamp shades or wallpaper! Not a huge complaint, just criticism. read more

I took my aging mother there for dinner Thursday and am only giving 1 star because the staff was so friendly. But the food is the worst I maybe have ever had. We both ordered strip steaks but she got a ribeye delivered to her. It was much too fatty and she sent it back...only to have them deliver another fatty ribeye. The baked potatoes were mushy on top, uncooked at the bottom. The salad bar, usually our favorite part of eating there, was full of wilted lettuce, almost empty containers of half the items like olives, croutons and bacon bits and the plates seemed to have a film on them. My steak looked great but had zero flavor and was obviously a very low-grade cut of meat. Avoid at ALL COST!! read more

Review from 2018, 2020 - pre-pandemic Located right next to the Hampton Inn. Due to business trips, I have eaten here a lot. There are not many good food options in New Freedom so for convenience I just get my lunch and dinner here. So I think I am qualified to give my review on this establishment. Inside is dimly lit, booth style seating, dingy carpets. The food wasn't much better. I think my company were paying for my meals, I wouldn't personally shell out money here. Overpriced for what it is. The portion size is decent. They do have a salad bar that you can elect to get when I was there, but it didn't look too appetizing so I personally have not tried. Servers are not very attentive and I had to flag them down for refills and the check. I have also eaten at the bar. The bartender there at the time did try their best to refill our drinks. But I think she has a little too much to do with also running the tabs for to-go orders. I have also ordered to go before and sometimes I did have to wait a little longer for my order to come out. I've been coming here my whole life, it used to be a favorite spot for my family to go eat. I haven't been here in awhile though, but within the past month I've been here twice with different friends. The inside looks pretty run down, the booth seats have the biggest cracks in them and they're pretty gross looking. It's also super dark inside and it hasn't been updated with indoor decor ever since I can remember. Outside of looks, this restaurant has really upped their menu selection. They've added many new items to their menu, and they include a picture for almost every item. Their salad bar is still phenomenal, just expensive (about $6 to add on to an entree). They still have some of their classic menu items though. Their food is pretty good, I have not been disappointed at all with my past two visits. Service is always great and very quick. Good selection of alcohol there, and relatively busy whenever I go. I also doordash a lot, and this restaurant in particular is very popular on doordash. The employees are very prompt and helpful with doordashers and they package their food nicely. Overall, I will absolutely return to this establishment. The food is good, nice selection, great salad bar and fantastic service. The only downside is how run down it is inside. At least replace the booths, if you were to wear shorts, your thighs would be scratched up from the ripped booths. Also be prepared to struggle to see what you're eating in there, and the random steps for the booths. read more

I like Ruby Tuesdays, and there's a lot of good options. But I believe the server should ask if you have any Ruby Rewards especially if you're scanning the barcode of your receipt. The ribeye was fatty and well done after I asked for medium rare. The Hamburger was well done when I asked her for medium rare. They could update, some of their furniture's ripped. read more

Comfy place with cool views, music at a good level and sports on the TVs. What can I say, it's a huge chain restaurant! You pretty much know what you're getting here, better food than a fast food place but nothing fancy. That being said, the servers have always been nice, very attentive, and gotten us out hot food quickly. I am pretty partial to the seafood options; I like the salmon and New Orleans seafood dishes. I like the mashed potatoes or rice pilaf as sides but sometimes upgrade to the salad bar. They usually have a great selection, but sometimes it seems overly chilled, like my lettuce and tomatoes are half frozen. While you should not order "smoked meat" from a ruby Tuesday it should at least be consumable. There's no excuse for the shrimp platter. Tables are in equally bad shape with some having those old leather-esque table covers. This place has become dingy, old and tired and in desperate need of an update. First the food. The salad bar was maintained well. I think only a couple items were empty the entire time we were there. The steaks are good and you can cut them with a fork. The 2 chicken breast meal was tasty but was over cooked and dry. Even with the sauce on it I was disappointed. The real kicker was we wanted a little more if the sauce they use in their steak. It is good but only had a small amount over it. When the waitress brought it out not until when we poured it all over the steak we realized it was worcheshire sauce and not the original steak sauce that it had. I called the manager over and he promptly cooked another one with extra sauce. The Service .. I wasn't impressed with the service this time. Our waitress and all the wait staff were more interested in the soccer game than the customers. Several customers were out of drinks but couldn't get the staffs attention. I posted a picture of them mesmerized by the TVs. She also brought the wrong sauce out actually 2 times. Our drinks ran out but she was apologetic about the sauce mistake. Use to be okay a year ago but now the place is dirty (food on floor and on seat). We ordered asiago steak, 2 salad bars , and New Orleans Seafood. So this is why I wont be going back: Seafood Small portion with 5 very tiny shrimp and mashed potatoes that tasted and looked like it was out of a box. It was very watered down mush. Steak Full of grissle and hard to chew. Asparagus(upcharge) was hard and tasted like it was cooked in burnt olive oil. Salad bar Had no green lettuce . All was white with brown edges. I had to pick through it and mainly used spinach. There was a pasta salad that was very dry and had a sour taste like the Mayo or creme had spoiled. The best parts of the meal was the 2 waters they served us. Never again will I go back there!!! read more

My husband I decided to go to this restaurant today since it was a nice day and it gives us about a 30 minute ride to feel like we are getting "away". Our waitress came to the table and asked for our order and when I asked for the salad/soup combo she stated that combo of only for the morning and I needed to choose something else. Keep in mind it does not say anything on the menu that it is only offered in the mornings. So I ordered crispy chicken with marinara sauce, melted cheese served on top of Mac and cheese. As we are waiting for our food to come, the table behinds us, having our same server, asked for the salad/ soup combo. She proceeds to tell them it is only offered in the mornings but that they could order the salad bar and order the soup as a side. Okay then why was I told I had to choose something else. Our food finally came and my husband had a combo of ribs, steak, and shrimp and said it was good but sadly, mine was lousy and I only ate a couple of bites and was done. I then figured I would eat a couple of the potato skins from the appetizer we also ordered. They were lousy too. On top of all of this, they were not that busy so it was not like they were running around trying to keep up. The waitress we had needs to learn that if she wants her tip, she needs to provide the same good service to everyone as we felt that she was picking and choosing the customers she wanted to give her service too which were the tables that had more than two people sitting at them. Also to note, the other table behind us only had two people and it sounded like they had a problem with her too. I will say the inside was very clean and the inside temperature was okay and the view from the window was nice but other than that we will not be back. We were told it was a 10 minute wait but it was over 20, I had order a cup of coffee and the waitress practically wringed the dregs out of the bottom of the pot. My wife has been a server for 35 years and asked her if she served me the old coffee since she had just washed her do that, the waitress replied no I held your cup underneath the coffee machine as it brew new coffee. This was a blatant lie since you could stick your finger right in the coffee and it was warm at best. We informed the manager and left the restaurant. I don't like being lied to half the restaurant was empty. If you don't have enough servers, let me know that it's gonna be a longer wait don't have empty booth all over the place and make me wait for what I was told was 10 minutes. If you had told me, it would be a 20 minute wait to server shortages whatever the problem is, I could understand that, but both face lie to me lie to me about the coffee. I'll never set foot in this particular restaurant again. read more

I've been to this Location several times in the past but wanted to compliment the restaurant for our service and experience last night. Showed up here late with a party of 15 after a local BBall game ... the kind of situation where staff could have been more interested in going home rather than our experience. In the contrary ... Management was very accommodating and set us up quickly. Missy provided OUTSTANDING service. She guided us on our choices, steering at least one of our party away from certain menu item that has been negatively mentioned on Yelp reviews, highly recommended the glazed salmon when I asked and was glad she did. Done perfectly and paired well with a decent Pinot. The wait for the food was a bit long but most were taking advantage of the salad bar. When it did come out there were no mistakes and no complaints. Thanks for a nice experience. read more
