Speaking of hard the country potatoes were cooked until they were hard. I almost broke a tooth. The diced bell peppers and onions were cooked black. Back to the eggs. My exchanged eggs arrived and were now over easy. I resolved to not send for another order of eggs. The server checked back with me. Asking if everything was ok, not waiting for an answer before she disappeared. The entire staff spoke Spanish every chance they had. Which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. We stopped to have lunch at Ruby's Diner on 2305 E. Coast Hwy in Corona Del Mar. It's one of the original Ruby's Diners with 40's & 50's style seating and it was so nice to eat inside. Alfredo our server was super nice and friendly. He was helpful in our ordering. Entrée: I had; Denver Omelette; Ham, eggs, red & green peppers and shredded cheese, with breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast. One of the best Denver omelettes I have ever had. Diana had; Butcher Block Omelette; With breakfast potatoes and English muffin. Delish! It is a rare experience when "Customer Service" single-handedly shifts what was an initial bad experience into a very positive one. After all! Aren't reviews primarily intended to determine wether food is worth eating there or not? I ordered the Seafood Platter, the fish wasn't fully cooked. (Understandable that these things happened with deep fried foods), but.... That alone felt enough for me to either walk out with a bad taste in my mouth, or dive into Yelp to give this place a negative review. But!! Lizet! Did such a wonderful job at tending to us, that she changed my entire prospective of the experience! They've shutdown all the Ruby's in the Inland Empire, so finding one was a rare experience I didn't want to miss out on. Let's just say I am willing to drive an hour to come and eat at this place. I can here with my friends after a beach outing. Maybe because it was Saturday evening, but there was a good 20-30 minute wait for our food after ordering. Food ordered: Classic Ruby Burger: 3/5 - I got the classic ruby burger with the lettuce, tomato, and added Pepper Jack Cheese. I enjoyed that the burger was not too red or well done, but to me, it was an average burger. The fries that it comes with, however, may look like McDonald's fries; but oh boy, they are much more delicious and so much less oily. My friends ordered the Butterfinger and Turtle Shakes, and they both loved it. My eggs were disappointing though. They weren't scrambled very well. You could still see the egg white and the yolk were separate. I loved the bacon though. Thick cut and not too crispy. It was our first time at this location, and I must say that the owner (or possibly the manager) gave us the nicest hello as we walked in the door. Both of us remarked on how friendly he was. Like all the other Ruby's locations we've been to, this one is also decorated in the 50's diner theme with the Coca-Cola posters up everywhere. For the owner/manager, this restaurant seemed to be a labor of love. My son ordered the kids' Chicken Tender meal, and I ordered the BBQ Chicken Burger. My son's meal was very basic but still good. Although my burger had tons of bbq sauce, the chicken itself was just too dry. My son ordered the kids' sundae for dessert, and it was amazing! One thing that could be improved upon is about getting rid of that strong mildew smell in the bathroom. When we went to wash up, the smell was so overpowering. The restaurant does look really clean, but that smell did curb our appetites a bit. I think this restaurant is a nice, friendly spot to grab some lunch. The service was truly wonderful here. We had a very nice experience here after attempting the Ruby's Shake Shack on the hill. Our server was very kind to us and brought a cool, folding paper car for our baby and some whole milk in a cup with a lid. This is a solid burger, fries, and most definitely shake place. I love the Ruby's in CDM for breakfast. They open at 7:30 every day. It's one of few local places that opens before 8:00 am. I'm an early bird so I get there right at 7:30 and there are usually other customers already there and seated. Their coffee is always hot and in a large sturdy cup. Refills are plentiful. The waiters and waitresses are friendly, and service is fast. The prices are reasonable in my opinion. I usually get the corn beef hash with poached eggs, English muffin and fruit. Sometimes I'll have a special request like no melon in the fruit and they always get it right. The tables, windows and the rest of the restaurant are always very clean. I live nearby and usually eat breakfast there once a week. read more

I have never been more disappointed with a restaurant before, and wish I could give 0 stars. Came here with a group of four and one of my friend ordered the Cobb salad. When the salad came out the lettuce was wilted, the turkey was not cooked well at all, and the blue cheese just tasted disgusting. She only had 3-4 bites of the salad (avoiding the meat). When we then told the server we would be sending the salad back he didn't say anything and awkwardly walked away. When he came back with the check I asked if we could please have the salad taken off because she did not eat any of it. He then proceeded to give attitude back and tell me I was incorrect and he would get a manager. Then the manager came and I cannot believe the way this "manager" was acting. She basically told us that we were lying and that she needed to go to the back and look at the salad herself because she didn't believe us? I have never been more angry with a restaurant before, and if you're going to be in a position of management you should learn not to argue and give attitude to your paying customers. read more

We came for lunch, it was crowded on a Sunday around 1pm. There is parking across Acacia. They had some fall specials and they smelt great when we walked in. We started with chicken tenders they came out quick and warm. They came with 3 dipping sauces, BBQ, ranch and honey mustard. I got the hickory burger, it was good size 1/2 lbs patty with BBQ sauce and onion rings on it. I also got a butterfinger shake, those things are amazing! Inside is clean and we had great service.
