Located in the Fashion Island outdoor shopping mall in Newport Beach, this instance of the full service Chinese restaurant chain now has a decent valued weekday lunch menu. My wife, her mom, and I stopped in for lunch while shopping at the mall, and found the food, dine-in atmosphere, and service to be good. There are certain dishes at P.F. Chang that tend to be the best example of an American-Chinese dish. Portions were lunch size, and all of us were able to easily finish our meals without being stuffed. They call it three course, but really 2 since I don't consider rice to be a course. Mongolian Beef ($16.99) - I really like how they prepare Mongolian beef here: the pieces of beef are stir fried until crispy and chewy. Honey Chicken ($15.99) - it was OK. Pretty sure they get it frozen now and just deep fry it. Fire Cracker Shrimp ($16.99) - it was good, especially eaten right after preparation. The beef and shrimp had been clearly prepared using a high temperature wok, which does make a big difference. We got the pork egg roll, vegie egg roll, and egg drop soup as the appetizer course: portions were good and were delicious. Payment was at the table, and the paper receipt had a QR code to pay on your phone. Amazing drinks and service, but the food fell short... We visited on a busy Sunday and waited about 30 minutes for a table. To pass the time, we grabbed drinks at the bar which they have a great selection of drinks!!! The Lychee cocktail, Old Fashioned, and Long Island were all delicious and definitely a highlight of the day! Our server, Kiana, was also wonderful; she was incredibly friendly Shoutout to our server Kiana for being so sweet! and attentive throughout our meal. Most of the dishes felt bland and lacked the flavor we remember from previous visits in other PF. Chang's My daughter liked the Peanut Salad, though I found the ginger and lemon flavors a bit overpowering. The noodles and fried rice were underwhelming, and the trio teriyaki didn't really taste like teriyaki at all. Even a simple request for chili oil resulted in just plain oil. On the positive side, the dumplings (served sizzling with soy sauce) and the orange chicken were both good. P.F. Chang's was actually a pleasant surprise for my first ever visit to a P.F. Chang's. I ordered the wonton soup, lettuce wraps, and sesame chicken, and everything was very good for a chain restaurant. The best way I can describe it is an elevated Pick Up Stix, familiar flavors, but done a bit more thoughtfully and consistently. The prices were great, especially with some solid specials like a 3-course menu and $8.99 cocktails, which made it feel like a good value overall. I was genuinely happy with the experience and would come back. This location also gets bonus points for the ocean view, which really elevates the setting and makes it a nicer place to sit and enjoy a meal. A solid 4-star experience all around. read more

So he brought me the martini without the lychee. So sad. We ordered chicken lettuce wraps with iceberg lettuce. He brought out romaine. I wanted a cup not a canoe for my lettuce wraps. We ordered white rice and brown rice. He brought double brown. He said the kitchen was the issue. I don't know who is dropping the ball there but we're not going back. The view was nice though. PF Chang's is improving! You can tell their operations are better, the restaurant is cleaner, the food is still good. Had the Lettuce Wraps, Mongolian Beef, and Orange Chicken. It didn't disappoint! Aubrey was the server and she was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. The ocean view booths have a great view and it's nice that each booth has its own sun shade control. It's still a little pricey (portions for price are only ok and the $3 up charge for fried rice is annoying -- it's a tiny bowl of rice)... BUT the Fashion Island location with the ocean view is worth it! Managers were on duty, but not touching tables. It was a solid visit and I'll definitely be back. read more

I'm going to start with the positive! Kiana and Gabriella were the stars today making my birthday week feel very special! The service and Cherry Blossom Martinis with Luxardo cherries were fire! I loved my two beverages that were exceptional. The Northern Five Spice ribs were as good as I remembered them to be in the golden days. Mandarin Crunch Salad had a nice dressing. Now for the drum roll ... We need to send Chef back to wok school please. He overcooked and overdressed my cauliflower order twice and did the same preparation to my Brussel Sprouts. We finally gave up... it has a burnt flavor, no crunch, and crying out to me to try again at home. Please do better. We enjoy our veggies. More Luxardo cherries changed the flavor in my mouth. I was shocked! PF Changs used to be a beautiful place to eat. This location looked like a cheap coffee shop. Moreover, the booth seat is unsittable, never been in a more uncomfortable seat. The windows were dirty and the sills were peeling paint. The dish in front of me upon arrival was dirty. The waitress had the weirdest set (many) of facial piercings I've ever seen, not appetizing at all to look at. We couldn't take it one more minute, so we walked out which I have only done once or twice in my life. This place is a discredit to the PF Chang's brand and should be either entirely upgraded or gone. Didn't expect this in an expensive area of Newport or anywhere else! read more

The new location looks like they downsized quite a bit but still enough seating to be comfortable Our server was friendly and accommodating with our orders and food suggestions, as well After some perusing we decided to start with the tried and true northern style ribs (always a hit imo) Wonton Soup bowl, Mongolian Beef and Long Life Boodles with Prawns The northern style ribs came out first and they were prepared perfectly Meat just fell off the bone kinda tender. The dry rub was delicious, as well The wonton soup came out soon after and the broth was nice and comforting for the cold weather we were having that night. The wontons were plump and tasty, as well The Mongolian beef and Long Life Noodles arrived next. Mongolian Beef was prepared with a tangy, sticky sweet sauce coupled with an irresistibly crunchy texture on the lightly battered beef. I highly recommend this one it's incredibly good We enjoyed it with a generous portion of brown rice it's a very flavorful dish so the brown rice coupled perfectly with it The next dish was absolutely phenomenal. The shrimp were plump and glistening with a mouthwatering sauces The noodles were perfectly chewy and coursing with garlicky flavor in every bite. They revamped their menu with a lot of affordable options, including lunch and dinner specials and cocktail specials. Love that they have so many gluten-free options and their new cocktail list is great! Usually I get the Mongolian beef with fried rice and it's always delicious. Also, their chicken lettuce wraps are amazing. The only thing is service can be a little slow, other than that, great all around for a casual lunch if you're craving Chinese. read more

We special requested they bring out the 3 different sauces so that we could mix them ourselves into a perfect dipping sauce. The Pad Thai with chicken was excellent. We asked for the bean sprouts and nuts on the side. The Fried Rice with combination meats was very good. We asked for no bean sprouts on this one. We're P.F. Chang's regulars, and this visit was one of our absolute favorites! Andrew was a stud -- what a guy! He kept the energy up all night and made the whole experience that much better. The food was spot-on too -- everything tasted extra fresh and perfectly cooked. It really felt like they've nailed the menu lately, with some fun new items to try. You also can't beat the Chef's Feast Deal -- such great value for what you get. We dined at PF Changs in Fashion Island today for our Anniversary. We made a 11:15 reservation. When we arrived we were greeted by the manager,Lisa who was so nice and recognized us by name and said Happy Anniversary. We requested a window table which she accommodated us with that had a great view. There was a Happy Anniversary Card on our table with a card for a free appetizer on our next visit. Lisa asked if we had any questions on the menu and recommended a few favorites. She later came by our table to check on us and again wished us a Happy Anniversary. Lisa was great. Our server was Josie. She provided us excellent service. She was attentive, knowledgeable, warm, and friendly. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, northern ribs then the lunch special. All the food was so delicious. The ribs were so tender and fall off the bone. Josie told us we would receive a dessert for our anniversary which we appreciated. We were so full that we took it home. My family and I stopped at this P.F. Chang's before heading out on a whale watching trip, and it's honestly always my go-to spot when I'm in town. The ocean view from the windows makes the atmosphere absolutely beautiful. We came in around 2 PM with no reservations and were seated right away at a great table. Parking was easy with free parking located downstairs by the escalators. We ordered quite a bit--shrimp steamed dumplings, the new lobster miso dumplings, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, a California roll, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, and garlic edamame--and everything was amazing. The food was fresh, clearly made to order, and came out quickly at a perfect pace. The chefs even hand-made ponzu sauce for my sushi, which was a really nice touch. And I have to say--I judge places by their Dr Pepper, and this was a great one! The only downside was the service. Our waiter was very nice and personable, but pretty slow. We found ourselves waiting and wondering about refills multiple times, and it was often hard to track him down. Overall though, we loved everything we ate and left very full and happy. Definitely still one of my favorite spots when I'm in the area. read more

Came here around 8pm on a Sunday night (they close at 10pm). Waited over 5 minutes at the host stand. Wait staff and bartender could see us but didn't seem to call anyone over. Finally, with others waiting behind me to pick up orders, I went and found a waiter and asked if there was a host working and he said he'd send her over. She came over, started helping us, and then before showing us to the table, started giving the others in line their pick up orders. Okay... that's fine I guess (even though we'd been waiting much longer). We sit at the table and another 5-10 minutes goes by with no one helping us. Finally, a waiter stops by, apologizing profusely, and telling us that no one told him we were seated in his section. Okay, not his fault, he seems super nice and takes our order. The food itself is delicious. Perfection! (although I'll always miss the lemon pepper shrimp - sad face!) But...we had to ask for plates when the appetizer came as none were brought to us. I sat without water for most of my meal and when I finally flagged our waiter down and asked for more water, he forgot and I didn't get any more water until I was done. (I was there about 20-30 minutes with no water.) The worst part though? When we initially sat down, we noticed a woman chit chatting with the bartender behind the bar (totally fine, he had no one at the bar). THEN - she eventually walked out from behind the bar and we noticed the walkie talkie on her and realized she was the GM. What??!! Why is she socializing when people are waiting at the host stand, people don't have water, etc.? Clearly - this who debacle is a management problem. So. Hmmm... I don't think I'll come back to this location. Too bad as it's the closest one to me but it was such a frustrating experience. They weren't even busy! We ended up there by chance but stayed by choice. The staff went out of their way to sit us down as quickly as possible even though we had no reservation. The sun set view from our table was so beautiful. Our waiter was Noah who was pleasant efficient and hard working. Dishes were very tasty - I especially appreciated the lemon grass flavors. I did think that the orange chicken was a tad too crusty for my liking but that is a personal choice. We went for a shared dishes approach instead of the set menu. For four of us we were just above $100 including gratuity which is not too bad considering the quality of the food that was served. So why not five star? I felt that the dishes served as a family share were arriving at the table not hot enough and therefor during the share time were cold. The plates don't help. read more

This is the worst P.F. Chang's I've ever been to! The tables were dirty and the lighting was coming in and out over our table. One moment would be bright, the next moment it would be dark. We were seated at 8pm, which was our reservation time. The waiter came about 10 minutes later and took our drink and food order. It took another 15 minutes after that to get water. We ordered the three course meal which should start with soup, then an app and then the entree. We got the app first and no plates for the app. When we finally got plates, two out of three were with white residue all over them. Then came the entrées. I always get Chang spicy chicken and this one wasn't as good as usual. But I usually don't go to this location, I go to Irvine. When we were full from our entrées, then the soup came out. They claimed that they had run out and had to make more around 9 PM (the restaurant closes at 10). We had to ask for sauces several times before they actually brought them. Even the soy sauce was out on our table. I never got a refill of my soda. Overall, not a good experience and not worth $130. I will never go back to this location. read more

Good Chinese food has dimensions of flavor where you can taste the ingredients---the ingredients used at PF Chang seem limited to only sugar and soy sauce (in that order). Whatever--it's chain Chinese food, so I lower my expectations. For a very empty 12:30 lunch on a Wednesday, the service was fine with the exception of our assigned waiter. He made weird comments during the service and was oddly reluctant to clear the table of empty plates and drink glasses throughout lunch. We were chatting at the end of our meal (15 minutes) and finally asked him to clear the table of all the plates. That's when things got really strange, and he mumbled something about "well how much longer are you going to stay?" Shocked, we asked if he would prefer that we leave and he responded "well, yea if you want do, i mean we're not that busy right now." This may be because the crowd size often varies, and an overflow of takeout can create confusion. The food is solid, yet they have played around with their pricing and changed so many combinations and rewards that is has become somewhat of a nuisance I have been a VIP diner with Chang's for at least six years, and have also felt a certain sameness to the product and decor. The VIP perks were also cut back...and my dine-in visits, too. However, Chang's still pulls off an Asian comfort food vibe in an average plus facility...but watch out, the competition is likely looking to take some of your share. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I arrived during lunch hours to a mostly empty P.F. Chang's. The hostess told me there'd be a 5-10 minute wait, even though I could see plenty of open tables. She slowly walked around, stalling for no clear reason, then finally sat me almost 15 minutes later. Only then did she tell me lunch was over and I had to order from the dinner menu. I asked what the difference was and she said, "It's just a little more." Looking into the far distance, no apology, no explanation. That was the first red flag Once seated, I waited again another 15 mins since being seated. This time while at least six employees, including servers, bussers, and a manager, walked past me multiple times without a single person offering help. No water, no greeting, no order taken. Just completely ignored. To make it worse, I watched a group of high school girls at the table in front of me get excellent service: the manager checked on them multiple times, servers came by promptly to take their orders, asked how they were doing, and attended to them throughout their meal. Meanwhile, I was still sitting alone, being overlooked, and more frustrated by the minute. 15 mins felt like 30 mins at this point which it was, if you count from the moment I walked in to having my order taken. I'm 38 weeks pregnant, tired, and hungry -- but instead of walking out (which I now regret), I ended up flagging down a bartender/waitress that I want to order. She eventually took my order and I finally got my food. Ironically, it looked exactly like a lunch entrée -- and yet I was charged the dinner price. The group of girls ahead of me got lunch portions and prices and their food looked the same as mine. I don't care as much about the extra few dollars. What bothered me most was the total lack of basic hospitality. The lack of service was ridiculous and unacceptable. I felt obligated to tip 25% to the waitress for a $21 meal even though they deserved zero. I honestly shouldn't have felt obligated to but didn't have the heart to not tip. The food was mediocre and the hot sauce tasted old and moldy like smell of moth balls. I will never return to this location and I strongly recommend avoiding it if you expect to be treated with even the slightest respect. Celebrating a special occasion??? DON'T COME TO PF CHANG'S IN NEWPORT!! Made reservations for my daughter's 21st birthday and even indicated it was her birthday on the reservation. We arrived and received the last booth available that we had requested next to the soda refill station or something of the sorts. The people just in front of us without reservations got the nice both on the ocean side instead. Absolutely no one said happy birthday to her!! Why have that as an option when making a reservation only to be let down?? I even said something to the waitress because she was asking about desserts. She didn't even say happy birthday to her. This is not the place for customers to feel welcomed or appreciated. The food was okay, but not as good as the other locations that we have gone to. The orange chicken was a small portion like what we normally get when we order the lunch, but it was full priced. The lo mein lacked any real flavor and was oily. I would not chose this location again because the other locations are much better. The place appeared clean, but dated. Would not recommend, would not go back there. My stomach was upset all that night and kept me awake for hours. My daughter also had an upset stomach. read more

Literally standing up eating and chatting with a fellow worker. Additionally I need to add that it wasn't like turning around and "sneaking a quick bite". My girls wanted to eat so we came to Fashion Island to P.F. Chang's. We ordered the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Crispy Green Beans, Salt & Pepper Prawns, Kung Pao Chicken, and Spicy Crispy Chicken. All were decent, but the Prawns were especially good. They say it is served family style but to us the portions were not that big that 2-3 people could share and get enough.
