The chicken was kind of like tempura style, which I didn't expect, but it was still delicious. I also really liked the lamb vindaloo, but I wish it was a little spicier The service was friendly and we had a nice dinner overall. Really enjoyed the veggie masala, butter chicken and my DH loves chicken 65. Naan bread, fried batura, onion pakora, and more - including all the side sauces like raita and tamarind. I love that dessert like mango cake, kheer and halva are included too. Service is attentive and kind. When people come visit me in KC and want Indian food, I take them here. It's a lunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays, and I take full advantage of that. It's reasonably priced, around $22 per person - and the variety of food is definitely more than several other Indian buffets in KC. Food always tastes fresh and homemade. I always leave full and satisfied. They've got a couple of dessert options, including mango ice cream, kheer, halwa. I think they also recently added a dosa station, where they make dosa right in front of you and bring it to your table too. Service is fine for being a buffet style restaurant. I recently revisited Rucci's after a couple of years and the flavor is still super good! I personally like going during their buffet hours so my experience is solely based off of that. But the owner is always very kind and welcoming when you walk in and there are so many options! I love the butter chicken, the Biryani Rice, and the Chicken 65 is a very good option if you love spicy food! They have Mango Ice cream during the buffet that is super creamy and rich, and mango lassi! We ordered online hours before the pick-up time. When we got there (at the time the ordering system said to be there), it took a while before we were even greeted. We were then told that they hadn't got to our order yet and the wait would be "at least 15 minutes" which I assumed would be over 20 minutes. I was right. My wife discovered this restaurant due to a highly favorable review on Facebook's Vegan Kansas City page, and we are glad we did. She called and was informed that in addition to having vegan/gluten free entrees, they could accommodate a vegan friendly thali upgrade, subbing papadum for naan, with mango chutney and vegan soup standing in for the other, dairy based thali items listed. The great news: we got more than expected, both in thali subs and entree sizes (!!), and all of the upgrades and 2 of the 3 entrees ordered were DELICIOUS, generously spiced & *spicy*! (If you prefer mild food, it would be wise to let that be known when ordering.) We were also given vegan chapati, which was most generous, but the papadum that my (gluten free ) wife was promised took 1/2 hour after pickup time to produce... and the okra (my wife's all time fav dish) was pretty tough/woody... but that sometimes happens in all restaurants. That the host wanted to give us more than we ordered was rather impressive, that he was very kind and patient, and that most of the dishes were outstanding will have us back despite the 1/2 hour one way drive time and 1/2 hour papadum delay. Next time, I'll just call ahead to ask how tender the bhindi is, and ensure that our special requests are in process before we start the drive! read more

This time we ordered the butter chicken and it was more than enough for two adults and two kids to share. The garlic naan is absolutely incredible. It's worth coming to Ruchi for this alone! Based on all that you get with one order of food, the price is worthwhile. Don't go here and think that you are ordering just for each individual person, because not only will you have WAY too much food, but you'll also being paying more than you may prefer. That said, leftovers are always an option! My only complaint from my last visit was that we ordered a pakora sampler after being told that we would receive paneer with it. The plate arrived and looked great but there was literally only one small little cube of paneer. We would not have ordered this sampler if we had known we'd only get one. Just trying to order food from here was a headache. On their website, they show their weekday hours as 11 - 2, then 5 - 10:15. They also promote a discount code to give you 20% off your online order. So at 12:50 on a Tuesday, I decided to try them out for lunch. I selected some items and put in the discount code. It turned out that the discount was only applied to a single item. But also, even though they were said to be open for lunch another hour and ten minutes, the online ordering said the first available time for pickup was 5:40. Update to the first review: We've dined at this location twice and the 2nd time was absolutely garbage. The food itself is good. Vegetarian and non vegetarian. But the service is absolutely horrible and whoever employed the person waiting on us should fire them. We arrived at 230 for their lunch buffet, not realizing they closed at 3. When I saw that they closed at 3, I had asked if we were too late to dine. The person who sat us said not at all. The buffet was nearly all empty when we sat, this should've been a sign for us to leave but a couple of the dishes we liked were there so we stayed. -our fault Once we started eating with 5-7min of arriving, my daughter grabbed some spicy dishes and she needed a refill on her water. I asked for water and the staff acknowledged me and never brought water. I asked another staff, the guy that should be fired, and he grabs our glasses and said he'd be back with new glasses. He then goes to talk on his phone, grab a plate and sits down to eat while pasted to his phone. My daughter is sweating her little rear off in need of water, so after 10min of watching the guy eat, I get up and ask him if we can get our water. He says "oh shit" and goes to grab our water. Literally 5 min later the greeter sets our check on the table and tells us we can just pay at the register whenever we are ready. No problem. It's now about 255pm, they just had another patron come in and they'd never had Indian before so the guy that forgot our waters was introducing them to the dishes. They sat down to eat and at during their first plate they get their check, the guy that forgot our waters comes up to our table and says "we close at 3, so please hurry up and finish". Literally not even there for 30mins, rushed to hurry and eat and get out. This level of terrible service and the audacity to then proceed to charge me $40 for the 4 items left and 1 refill followed by rushing me out. I will NEVER return to this place again. I love supporting small business. I'm the children of immigrants myself and I absolutely want to give them business, but after this, NO THANK YOU. I'd rather support another mom and pop business that at the very least respects the dining experience of their patrons. read more

They are attentive, they are reasonably priced, and offer a great & fresh selection of Indian cuisine and even accommodate vegetarians.
