I recently tried Rued Winery in Dry Creek Valley, and this is a wonderful spot! We visited on a Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and were greeted by Dee who was our tasting host. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and winery. We learned this is a family-owned winery, which is always so nice to support!  They have a fun wine and chocolate pairing that is such a great combo! Our tasting included the following wines and chocolates: - 2023 Sauvignon Blanc with lemon peel dark chocolate - 2024 Chardonnay with rosemary dark chocolate - 2018 Pinot Noir with raspberry dark chocolate - 2022 Zinfandel with chipotle dark chocolate - 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon with pistachio dark chocolate For the wines I really enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and even took a bottle home to enjoy at a later time. The reds were all really wonderful and especially the Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was fun to try an aged Cabernet Sauvignon too! The chocolates were a great pairing with the wines and have been well thought out. My favorite pairing hands down was the Pinot Noir with raspberry dark chocolate! We tasted inside the tasting room, but they have a super cute outdoor seating area with market lights that would be fun to return to taste at in the summer or fall months. The winery is a little ways up dry creek road. Upon arrival it appears to be a rustic barn but once you walk in you are greeted and sat at a table of your choosing. This winery is a gem because it is: Family owned for generations Grapes are grown on the property and wines are produced with the grapes Chocolate is made especially for the winery to pair with the wines I'm not usually a white wine drinker but will say the Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and slightly fruit forward. It paired well with the lemon chocolate (Never thought I would put this two together in a sentence). A group of 4 of us went to this winery with a Groupon offer for chocolate and wine tasting. Fantastic deal, with fantastic wines. A charming little winery that we may have missed if we hadn't found this Groupon. This review will not be able to give justice to just how impressed we were with this quaint winery as well as how welcome the hostess Dee made us feel. Beautiful string lights set up outside gave it a romantic warm embracing ambiance. A Sonoma county wine family six generations deep. The family farms a 160 acres of vineyards today. Our tasting included the following: - 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley, paired with Lemon peel dark chocolate - 2021 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, paired with Rosemary dark chocolate - 2018 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, paired with Raspberry dark chocolate - 2016 Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley, paired with Chipotle dark chocolate - 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, paired with Pistachio dark chocolate Personally I prefer red wines over white and found the 2009 Cabernet to die for. It is bold yet smooth and has good body to it. My friend loved the Zinfandel and the whites were also good. Definitely a winery you must try if you are in the region. We (husband, son, daughter-in-law and myself) went in on a Saturday with a Groupon for the wine tasting at this long-owned family winery- wonderful place, great time, learned (and tasted) a lot! The Dry Creek wines from these vineyards - the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc (paired with a lemon peel dark chocolate- all the chocolates were super, btw) and a 2022 Zinfandel (paired with a spicy chipotle dark chocolate) were both very good (I especially liked the fruity/vanilla-hint/peppery Zin). The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (pistachio dark chocolate pair) was full and rich. Their other vineyard, in the Russian River Valley, produced an incredible 2023 Chardonnay (paired with Rosemary dark chocolate) that had just a hint of the Oak barrel used to age 10% of the wine (90% having been aged in Stainless) and a smooth 2018 Pinot Noir (raspberry chocolate pair). We all had our favorites, I bought the Chardonnay because I'm usually not too fond of the all-oak aging and the stainless seems a bit bland- but this was, to me, just perfect. I also really enjoyed the Zinfandel and bought a bottle for home. This was a winery that felt the way many of the old wineries used to be in Northern California. Friendly folks who make the wines, you can sit by the fields and converse with them as they talk about the upcoming harvest, or the age of the vines, etc. - and you'll want (as we plan to) to come back soon! read more

We ended up here on a total fluke and I'm so glad we did! My best friend and I went up to Healdsburg this past saturday and apparently since the weather was great and covid restrictions are slowly easing many people had that same idea. We had an hour and a half to kill before a scheduled tasting somewhere else so we decided to drive down dry creek and pull in to a place that didn't look too busy. We saw one car parked at Rued and decided to take a chance! The wine was excellent! I especially liked that they had two chardonnays ( one oaked and one steel aged) I usually prefer an un oaked wine but here I favored the oaked wine which to me shows that they know how to make good wine here. The woman helping us was actually one of the owners and she was so sweet and welcoming. I really appreciated how attentive and kind she was. I'll definitely be back! read more

Delicious wines and sat outside with a picnic lunch and just enjoyed every minute. I don't remember everything I tasted but I do remember liking them and the piece of chocolate was so delicious. It had a spicy chili taste...it was so good. The lady pouring the wines was great and she educated me on sapphires. My birthday is in September, and I love everything blue. We came here for the chocolate and wine pairing and absolutely loved it! The lemon peel and pistachio chocolates were definitely my favorite but each one was ridiculously delicious and vegan if you're looking for that. The woman who helped us was friendly and hospitable, giving us background on the history of the vineyard and information about each individual wine we were tasting. Overall great experience, we came on a Monday so no crowds and our choice of seating. Very private, quiet, and quaint seating. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine and views of the vineyards. Highly recommend if you want to support a family winery in Sonoma county! read more

Zero ambience. We decided to go inside since it was cold outside. To Dee's credit, she was running 4 tables but she never introduced herself, never told us a thing about the winery or WHY or anything to convince us that this was worthy of purchasing another thing. A tray of 5 bites of chocolate were presented with 5 VERY SMALL pours of different wines- that we were never told about were presented. She barely told us the name of the wines so how would we remember the ones we liked? Very disappointing.... not even worth the groupon coupon we used. read more

ALL-AMERICAN ZIN DAY STOP #2 --- THE DEETS: - Just north of Wilson Winery - Lots of outdoor seating provided under the overhang - Rows of vines surround this winery, you'll find yourself lost in them --- OVERALL: - This was a fun stop with friends. The wine was delicious here. Would recommend this winery simply for the wine. The location has a modern, yet simple feel to it. No-frills, just wine. I think for wine lovers, this would be a great stop. Ironically, not much Zinfandale can be found here. They had other varieties that stole the show for me. We were driving home and I was like, this place has an awesome name, let's go. So we went. It's a new winery owned by a Swiss-German dude and his wife. They have been growing grapes for a while apparently. We tasted all their wines. They charge $5 for their 2 "library" wines but we got them for free. All their wines were tasty. This was our last stop on a day of wine tasting through Healdsburg. The people that worked there were awesome, talkative, friendly and fun! They do side-by side tastings of wines which is super fun. Came here because it was listed as a zin lover winery. However, they only had one zin available to taste that day. Not much of a view on the grounds. We were the only ones in the tasting room. Our sommelier wasn't the best. A lot of awkward silences. He also didn't offer much history or information on the wine. He only responded when we asked questions. They should really play some music or something in here to break the silence. We rushed though the tasting because it was just too awkward to stay there any longer. read more

I was driving, so rather than drooling over their very, very fine wines I found the ice cream and...olive oil. Fresh pressed, beautiful golden olive oil in lovely 500ml bottles. I bought two to bring home to Seattle and I don't think they are going to last longer than a few days! The staff here is lovely. If I were tasting, I would be glad to enjoy a sunny afternoon with Rued. Lovely wines, people and location! read more

LOVE their Zin's! You must taste each year they are pouring - they are all very different: from peppery to jammy. Pick your favorite. We love the wines - the tasting room is friendly and welcoming. They were pouring mostly Chards and Zins when we stopped in. They poured us their 03, 04 & 05 Zins. Each was very different from the other. We liked the 04 best. All the wines were reasonably priced. They have a small tasting room over looking a vineyard right on Dry Creek Road. read more

We decided to swing again by as we love their sauv blanc. In fact we had it at our wedding. So not much has changed..Or has it.. they still make excellent wines but we love their whites especially. Now we are from the north Texas where the sun beats down on you from sun up to sun down so their crisp whites are just what we need out here. The 2010 Sauv Blanc is more pearish and less melon than the 2009. I think anyway. Still love it. I'm finishing off our last 2009 right now. Also the 2010 Russian River Chard is nice and crisp/fruity as well. We are not big on the huge over buttery chards. This one fits the bill to a T. Ended up getting 3 bottles of each. Oh their Cab is still exceptionally good and just won another medal and a 90 something like that. Thanks again Dee! read more

I went to high school with Steve Rued so I swung by here one day while visiting the parents. Steve was out but his parents were pouring and the wine was actually quite good. My father, who is a consummate sonoma county wine snob and had only joined 2 wineries before (1 of which is Williams Selyam), was so impressed with the wine that he immediately joined. That, in itself, merits 5 stars. Plus, the staff is nice, the grounds are pretty and the artwork they sell is really quite good. And, they are reasonably priced. read more

Pretty sweet winery. We had the entire tasting room to ourselves when we went. They make an incredible Chardonnay. They have two kinds...one they age in stainless steel barrels, and one they age in oak barrels. The oak barrel one is so good! This was the second winery we stopped at. There wasn't much of a lounge area and the tasting room was rather small. The man helping us was nice. $5 tasting fee but waived if you bought a bottle. I ended up getting th 2010 Chardonnay Russian River. It was smooth and a bit fruity. They had this cool outdoor picnic kit for sale for $30 that I was tempted to get but resisted. If they offered more areas to hang out it would have been better. read more

I really liked the Pinot Grigio. This is a beautiful little winery on the side of the road, very friendly.

First off this place should be called RUDE winery because that is exactly what they are! We stopped there during barrell tasting weekend and we were treated so poorly. One of the gals that was pouring rolled her eyes as soon as we walked up to taste! She was not educated at all and had to keep asking some other gal questions about the wine. There were 6 of us girls and we were just laughing and joking and having a good day and because we are "younger adults" they treated us like we were the scum of the earth. Finally, after 2 gals were super rude and judgemental a lady walked up to us and told us that we needed to keep it down and followed us everywhere we went. I understand that 6 girls can get noisy but she was rude and followed us like we were criminals or something. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A YOUNG ADULT...unless you want to get treated like sh*t.
