I had an unpleasant experience with Rob in his store but chose not to write about it because it would detract from my opinion of his work and I think it's stupid to say, "the owner has a nasty attitude!!!!" without explaining in detail why. However, since Rob thinks I made up my review because I was upset with his rudeness, I'll update it to discuss the hem, my experience in the store, and Rob's wonderful texts to me.
I asked Rob to cut off 2.5 inches and leave me the scraps, so in my mind, the scraps were going to be 2.5 inches long. When I picked up the jeans, I went to my car and noticed that the scraps were definitely not 2.5 inches long. I thought Rob cut off the wrong amount. This is not a leap of logic because there's a previous review on here where a customer's jeans were hemmed 3 inches too short. Knowing this, I wanted to make sure my jeans were hemmed exactly the amount that I asked for. When I came back to the store seeking clarity, Rob explained how it was done, but in an unnecessarily confrontational manner.
Rob has graciously uploaded the video of our interaction in his response to my original review below. It's a little hard to hear exactly what's being said so I've taken the liberty of writing out the transcript because I take his accusations very seriously.
A: "Hey man, this is definitely not two and a half inches no matter how you look at it"
R: "Alright, people who think they're so much smarter than i am. [inaudible sentence] There's an inch inside of here (the hem), so an inch inside and -"
A: "Oh so you actually only cut off like one and a half right"
R: "I made it two and a half inches shorter"
A: "Okay, but this actual piece (the scrap) is one and a half right" (this is me making sure it actually is 1.5 inches. I didn't have a ruler to measure it.)
R: "Well it doesn't matter because there's an inch inside of here"
A: "So you're saying like you rolled it up" (this is when I understood it)
R: "I don't know what you did. You told me to cut off two and a half inches shorter, I gave you two and a half inches shorter" *hands me back the jeans
A: "Okay"
R: "You think you're smarter than the guy - "
A: "No I'm not. Look man - "
R: "I'm tellin you, I'm tellin you, that there's an inch inside of here"
A: "Okay I - "
R: "Figure it out! Think about it. You're saying this is an inch and a half. Inch and a half plus one inch is two and a half okay"
A: "No i get that, I get it - "
R: "Okay I'm busy right now you want to wait till I'm done?"
A: "You looked at me so I talked to you."
R: "Well no you're interrupting this customer right here."
A: "Alright thank you. Thank you very much"

After this, I left because I got what I needed to know and I couldn't argue with only 6 minutes in my meter. I went home and looked at my jeans and they were crooked. All of that for a hem that wasn't straight! I thought it was ridiculous so I wrote my original review. I did not write about our interaction because he was ultimately right to hem what he did and I was not explicit about what I wanted. Rob saw my review, texted me the next day(he has my number and email), and we had another confrontation where he threatened me to take down my review. I tried to explain my side regarding what happened, but he chose to send me numerous poorly spelled insults. My favorite is "Your the kind of jerk that has a problem with everyone you meet because your a peanut brain and mister know it all and think your smarter than everyone else. Everything backfires in your face when you make up lies to cover up your as-nine behavior"
Rob makes 3 contradictory assumptions:
1. I made up being unsatisfied with his hem work. He wrote this in his response below and in his texts to me. Regardless of our interactions, the hem is subpar for $18 and I've uploaded picture of it to address that. I would have come back to ask him to fix it but you can't expect someone to want to come back after repeatedly telling them they think they're so smart.
2. I was actually unsatisfied with his hem work so I came back in to complain about the length. He wrote this in his texts to me. Doesn't make sense if he thinks I made it up.
3. I asked to save the scraps a week before he even touched the jeans because I was plotting to ruin his business and not because i wanted to patch up potential holes in my jeans with the same fabric. He wrote this in his response below. (what?)
I wasn't going to upload images of our text conversation or my jeans because I felt it was unnecessary. But since Rob wants to pursue this in the most aggressive way possible, I've included them for your viewing pleasure. If you think I'm ridiculous in this series of incidents, take your jeans to Rufcut and be very explicit about what you want. If you think Rob is extremely arrogant and childish in how he deals with people, you know what to do. I don't care either way. I took my jeans to Self Edge and they were done in a day. read more
