We stayed at an Airbnb near RUMBA and our host recommended that we try it out. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain, but the seating inside was tropical and cozy. This was the worst dining experience I ever had as ants were crawling all over the outdoor space where food was being served. I asked the waitress to wipe down the countertop and she said "sure" but the infestation didn't seem to surprise her. And the manager's response was to offer us another place to sit, inside maybe? Rumba has been a community mainstay and a must-visit restaurant while in the Hamptons since it opened. The food and atmosphere is incredible. You can take a boat to their sister restaurant Cowfish which has a great outdoor bar. The food at both is great, but I personally prefer RUMBA. read more

Honestly - skip. The food's good but the service may be the worst I've ever seen. As one reviewer so aptly put it, it's the kind of place where they ask you if you're "still working on that" ten minutes into your meal. I have eaten here many times and have received exceptionally poor service nearly every time. They're not slow but rude and like to rush you. Management in particular likes to talk down to customers. Ok here's the dealio peeps. This place was fantastic we started with duck empanadas which were extraordinary (4 to an order) and a pitcher of rum punch also delicous. Our entrees were the perfect portion plated delicately, scallops with coconut risotto jerk chicken also with the coconut risotto and mango papaya salsa (the perfect amount of sweet to go with the spicy jerk chicken) chili rubbed pork loin with an apricot ginger glaze also coconut risotto and fried plantains and finally the Dominican ribs, the meat fell right off the bones. One of my favorite summertime restaurants!! Very small place, limited parking but they do offer a shuttle bus. LOCATION: What a great place. You sit right on the Shinnecock bay. Most of the seating is facing the back which is right behind the establishment, so make sure you get a spot outside on the deck so you can really see the nice bay view. DECOR: Very beachy themed, but not cheap looking. Wooden tables and wicker chairs outside, small candles sitting in sand jars on the tables... it all really makes you feel like your in the heart of summer. FOOD: Try the Wings and Duck Empanadas for appetizers. Some of my favorite meals include: any of the Tacos, Ribs with sweet potatoes, and the Pork tenderloin with coconut risotto/fried bananas. It was around 20 something dollars for the Ribs and Pork entree's. A little pricey, but very worth it! For once I didn't feel guilty after eating out, it tasted like something homemade, good quality and not frozen foods just heated up quickly like an applebees would give you. Very delicious dinner. The rum punch, small for $10, came in a mason jar to continue the beachy feel, and was pretty good. Strong drinks so its worth the money. SERVICE: Waitress was very nice, food came out quickly even though the place was pretty busy when we got there. Try to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance if you're going for dinner Fri-Sun. If you don't, expect at least an hour wait. Waiting isn't bad though, you can order drinks at bar and sit outside by the bay while you wait for them to buzz you. read more

This place is awesome, they have all different kinds of tequila and rum. My favorite is a Don Julio Margarita with a Grand mariner floater, also Diplomatico rum from Venezuela by itself is very tasty. Fish tacos are fresh and delicious, Mahi Mahi dish, reminds me of Hawaii. Homemade chips with scrumptious dipping sides, awesome view of the water, must sit outside. I love coming here but it can get busy, you'll be waiting awhile. Also parking is valet, make sure you make reservations 2 -3 days in advance. read more

Solid lunch place if you're out in the Hamptons and want something different. We went a little after 2 and the place was still pretty packed. There is valet parking, which I'm sure is very helpful during the lunch/dinner rush. We ordered three dishes: the Dominican Ribs, Mahi Tuna, and the empanadas. Amazing experience. Totally felt like I had been whisked away to a Caribbean island. The detail of the ambience and decor was on point. The food and drinks were delicious, in the $$ range (we had the guac/pimento w chips, dominican ribs, tacos, tres leche) And the views out by the water in the back were beautiful. Parking at Rumba is limited, but you can park by the Mariner's Cove Marina and a Rumba bus that comes approx every 5 mins will drop you off and back. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because the plates and silverware were not as clean as I would have liked then to be. The food here is awesome, and they actually provide free (mandatory) valet parking. My friend and I shared 3 tacos - a special flank steak one, a shrimp taco, and a fish one. We both agreed that the shrimp one won, though all three were amazing. All of them had a really interesting fusion of flavors - Caribbean plus Mexican plus Asian plus seafood joint. Really great. We also shared a jerk chicken on coconut risotto and mango papaya salsa. Super good. The jerk chicken had just the right amount of kick, and the coconut risotto had a nice sweet/savory thing going on. The key lime pie was also really amazing - it's a big, shareable portion, and the crust was especially good - like a cookie crumble with pecans mixed in it. read more

Just got back from Rumba and let me just say.....AMAZINGLY good food! If you plan on going there, make sure you have a reservation....otherwise you will be waiting a LOOOONG time! Luckily, we had a reservation and were seated right away. People without were waiting about 45 min to 1 hour. It was PACKED. I think next time I'll ask for a seat overlooking the water instead of being seated indoors. The view of the Shinnecock is beautiful. Despite the crowded restaurant, the service was pretty quick (and our server was very friendly). We ordered the duck empanadas and the crabetizer for apps. Both incredibly delicious. And for entrees we ordered the chili rubbed pork tenderloin and the shrimp taco and rastamans taco. The tacos were some of the best I've ever eaten and the coconut risotto that came with the delicious tenderloin was like eating a creamy rice pudding...amazing. Dress code: We dressed nice not knowing, but it was pretty casual. There were people who were there right off the beach to those who were dressed up pretty nice. You can definitely go casual. If parking is a problem, you can park over by cowfish and theres a rumba bus that will transport you back (there's not much parking over by Rumba) or you can take a boat back and forth as well. What a wonderful experience!!! We arrived at 3pm and we were informed we were entitled to Happy Hour appetizers and Drinks at the bar. After looking over menu we sat at the bar. Our bartender Nicky was extremely helpful with drink and appetizer selections. The general manager Craig came over several times to make sure we were satisfied with our order. Writing this review only because of the brunette manager that works there on Mondays during the day. I didnt quite get her name but she gets the job done. My vehicle was blocked in by another guest's inconsiderate parking job.. there was no way I was getting out myself.. I went in and the hostess women was asking everyone at the table who drove a blue mazda from nj and of course no one would fess up.. the brunette manager took hold of the situation and grabbed one of the runners and they helped me get out of there. By a hair the runner guy got it out. What service! Today I ordered online at around 12:30 to be picked up at 1:30. Just a salad and some avo tacos. Nothing crazy. I arrived at 1:30 and order wasnt ready.. all good i was just hanging.. it was like 1:50 and it came out.. i was asked if i was being helped a bunch of times in the meantime etc.. brunette manager girl comes out and is like heres a your order.. put a slice of keylime pie in your bag. I mean that was so nice. I was cool with waiting but they went out of their way to comp me. This girl needs a raise and so does the bus boy. My first impression was oh great an overpriced bar, but damn was I wrong. The tacos were amazing!! I ordered the fish taco (and I swore I'd never eat a fish taco) the carnitas taco and the pulled pork taco and they were out of this world delicious. My wife had the shrimp and Siracha coconut tacos and they were awesome as well. Our drinks were perfect I had the dark n' stormy and it was balanced right and the rum was top shelf and had really good oak notes. And I hate margaritas but my wife's had me ordering one. RUMBA!!!! Great views, food and breeze! Omg my gut is hanging of my jeans. I couldn't stop eating! The sweet heat marg warmed me up just enough in the late August breeze. The green curry coconut mussels were delicious I licked the plate clean! Rastaman's taco was BOMB! LOVED THE SHRIMP TACO!! The fish taco was good also. Tried some of the MAMPIE so good. If there's a wait, belly up to the bar and enjoy a favorite creation! We loved the fish tacos and anything that passes through their kitchen that has been caught in salt water. After a small hiccup with our lost gift card, the waitress treated us to a sample of a homemade banana liquor-what a treat!
