For starters, if you go here and don't get the Sangria - you made a huge mistake. They make Sangria the best way possible...with rum in it. It is quite small, so the wait time can get quite long. Hubby and I came here during our weekend in the Hamptons due to the great reviews on Yelp. Sadly, I feel like Yelp led us wrong this time. The restaurant is noted as "Island inspired" restaurant.... last I checked Mexico was NOT an island. Most of the items we ordered was missing the Caribbean flair we were hoping to taste. There is valet parking here; i guess 'cause the parking lot is laid out awkwardly? We came on Monday night around 6pm and although it was busy, we were able to get a seat fairly quickly. The service left something to be desired though. It took them literally 20 minutes to get us a high chair, another 20 minutes for our server to come and when I asked for a smaller fork or a disposable fork, the server said "i'll see what I can do" and never returned. Disappointing. We ordered the following: Duck Empanadas Grilled Oysters Fish Tacos Jammin' Chicken for the toddler The empanadas and oysters were waaaay salty. I'm not sure if this was intentional so that you'd buy more drinks/beer? But the food here was salty to the point where we had to gulp water each time we had a bite. Yes, the fish taco was great, but then again, how could you go wrong with fresh fish in the area? At $5/each, it's definitely not easy on the wallet. Key Lime Martinis!! So yummy! The seared tuna appetizer is a huge winner here. I don't like ribs (because I'm crazy, but I know that everyone else does) - and apparently these are to die for. Every appetizer was awesome, but do yourself a favor, feel healthy and order the grilled artichoke. That way you can order your rum punch and feel like you did something right. As for the low reviews, I suggest you read them. One of them is clearly a snob that I am happy won't be at the table next to me. This place is absolutely great. Even open on Mondays in the dead of winter. We have dined here twice in the offseason and the food was amazing both times. The second time we went we ordered two of every taco. There were 5 of us, while we did order appetizers we ended up with left overs. Still great tacos for lunch the next day. The food here is awesome, and they actually provide free (mandatory) valet parking. My friend and I shared 3 tacos - a special flank steak one, a shrimp taco, and a fish one. We both agreed that the shrimp one won, though all three were amazing. All of them had a really interesting fusion of flavors - Caribbean plus Mexican plus Asian plus seafood joint. Really great. We also shared a jerk chicken on coconut risotto and mango papaya salsa. Super good. The jerk chicken had just the right amount of kick, and the coconut risotto had a nice sweet/savory thing going on. Relaxing atmosphere, casual but I wouldn't come in dressed like I just came from the beach either...First off the Duck empanada's were awesome... My wife had two Pina Colada's, I know thats a pre-game for most but for her on a weekday...its a miracle , so that goes to show how good the drinks are. The food. The drinks. The view. I loved it here, and so did my boyfriend. The service was great (aside from one dark haired hostess who promptly rolled her eyes at me while trying to navigate the busy waiting area, guess I didn't get out of her way fast enough). We ordered drinks and an appetizer at the bar and the bartenders were fun and very nice. Our waitress was very sweet and kind, and the hostess got us a table even faster than we thought one would be available. Make reservations, because it gets crowded, and for good reason. The mojito and the sangria are both very good, but their rumba punch was incredible. The duck empanadas are to die for, and the Dominican ribs are also great. In addition we had the crab cake salad with mango and papaya which was light, flavorful and tasty (next time I'll get it without red onion, just not a fan of raw onions!). For our entree we split the salmon with coconut risotto and fried plantains. I didn't think I would like the coconut risotto but it was so creamy and unique and I ended up loving it. The perfect addition to the salmon. The plantains were also great! Our food came out fast and we had a wonderful view of the water from our window seat. Their parking lot was full but they have an overflow lot with a little shuttle/party bus that takes you to the restaurant and pack. So convenient! As for the crowd, it was a mix of relaxed locals and girls dressed up in a way that screamed "OMG the Hamptons!". Either way, it made for great people watching. My only complaint was that the music was just a bit loud. Other than that it was a great place to grab dinner. We drove an hour from where we were staying on Long Island and I would absolutely come back. If I lived nearby, I would totally be a regular here. Oh and I disagree with the comment about it being overpriced. The food and service are great (and appear to be consistent), and for crying out loud you're at a waterside restaurant in The Hamptons. What a wonderful experience!!! We arrived at 3pm and we were informed we were entitled to Happy Hour appetizers and Drinks at the bar. After looking over menu we sat at the bar. Our bartender Nicky was extremely helpful with drink and appetizer selections. The general manager Craig came over several times to make sure we were satisfied with our order. My first impression was oh great an overpriced bar, but damn was I wrong. The tacos were amazing!! I ordered the fish taco (and I swore I'd never eat a fish taco) the carnitas taco and the pulled pork taco and they were out of this world delicious. My wife had the shrimp and Siracha coconut tacos and they were awesome as well. Our drinks were perfect I had the dark n' stormy and it was balanced right and the rum was top shelf and had really good oak notes. And I hate margaritas but my wife's had me ordering one. Just got back from Rumba and let me just say.....AMAZINGLY good food! If you plan on going there, make sure you have a reservation....otherwise you will be waiting a LOOOONG time! Luckily, we had a reservation and were seated right away. People without were waiting about 45 min to 1 hour. It was PACKED. I think next time I'll ask for a seat overlooking the water instead of being seated indoors. The view of the Shinnecock is beautiful. Despite the crowded restaurant, the service was pretty quick (and our server was very friendly). We ordered the duck empanadas and the crabetizer for apps. Both incredibly delicious. And for entrees we ordered the chili rubbed pork tenderloin and the shrimp taco and rastamans taco. The tacos were some of the best I've ever eaten and the coconut risotto that came with the delicious tenderloin was like eating a creamy rice pudding...amazing. Dress code: We dressed nice not knowing, but it was pretty casual. There were people who were there right off the beach to those who were dressed up pretty nice. You can definitely go casual. If parking is a problem, you can park over by cowfish and theres a rumba bus that will transport you back (there's not much parking over by Rumba) or you can take a boat back and forth as well. One of my favorite summertime restaurants!! Very small place, limited parking but they do offer a shuttle bus. LOCATION: What a great place. You sit right on the Shinnecock bay. Most of the seating is facing the back which is right behind the establishment, so make sure you get a spot outside on the deck so you can really see the nice bay view. DECOR: Very beachy themed, but not cheap looking. Wooden tables and wicker chairs outside, small candles sitting in sand jars on the tables... it all really makes you feel like your in the heart of summer. FOOD: Try the Wings and Duck Empanadas for appetizers. Some of my favorite meals include: any of the Tacos, Ribs with sweet potatoes, and the Pork tenderloin with coconut risotto/fried bananas. It was around 20 something dollars for the Ribs and Pork entree's. A little pricey, but very worth it! For once I didn't feel guilty after eating out, it tasted like something homemade, good quality and not frozen foods just heated up quickly like an applebees would give you. Very delicious dinner. The rum punch, small for $10, came in a mason jar to continue the beachy feel, and was pretty good. Strong drinks so its worth the money. SERVICE: Waitress was very nice, food came out quickly even though the place was pretty busy when we got there. Try to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance if you're going for dinner Fri-Sun. If you don't, expect at least an hour wait. Waiting isn't bad though, you can order drinks at bar and sit outside by the bay while you wait for them to buzz you. read more

My favorite is a Don Julio Margarita with a Grand mariner floater, also Diplomatico rum from Venezuela by itself is very tasty. Fish tacos are fresh and delicious, Mahi Mahi dish, reminds me of Hawaii. Homemade chips with scrumptious dipping sides, awesome view of the water, must sit outside. Amazing experience. Totally felt like I had been whisked away to a Caribbean island. The detail of the ambience and decor was on point. The food and drinks were delicious, in the $$ range (we had the guac/pimento w chips, dominican ribs, tacos, tres leche) And the views out by the water in the back were beautiful.
