I'm new to running (outside of playing a sport), and I've been experiencing pain in my shins when I run in my current "running" shoes. A friend suggested I go to the Running Center to get scanned and find out what kind of shoes I need. Before arriving, I called the store to make sure there would be enough time to do the gait analysis and try on shoes. When I arrived, I was the only customer in the store. It was extremely tidy and clean. I was greeted by Ethan, and I told him I wanted to do a gait analysis. He walked me over to the machine and explained what it does and how I was supposed to stand and walk on it. Ethan was extremely helpful, professional, and patient. He first explained what I was seeing on the machine that scanned my feet and gave me a rundown of the shoes I need. I learned about overpronation and what running shoes work best for my flat feet. He pulled about 8 pairs of shoes for me to try on and run around in. I didn't feel rushed at all, so I was comfortable with taking my time and really feeling the shoes out. I left the store with a pair of New Balance 860 v14 running shoes, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Now I'm actually excited to start running more because the shoes feel like I'm walking on clouds. I jogged around the store a bit and didn't feel any strain in my shins. Some children have disabilities and don't understand language, even when spoken to directly. My 8 year old daughter is intellectually disabled and nonverbal, with a mental age around 18 months. She briefly laid on a bench for sensory regulation for about 45 seconds, and while she wasn't disturbing anyone, the way staff addressed her made us feel unwelcome. Please speak to parents first, especially when we're right there, instead of assuming a child is misbehaving. These moments can make shopping extremely difficult for families like ours. I also couldn't ignore the feeling that we stood out as the only brown (Hawaiian, Chinese, Irish) family in the store. Redlands is a diverse community, and every family deserves respect and understanding. read more

My husband and I had an absolutely horrible experience at this store. I have been to the Running Center throughout years and have always had a good experience but today were treated as if we were not welcomed. There was a younger woman (a cross country coach) there with two younger male employees. All three were preoccupied with a family who were purchasing shoes for their two teenage sons or taking care of other responsibilities. We did not mind waiting but when they did have an opportunity to take care of us the associate just wanted to put me in the same shoes I had on. Typically the running center has you try on several pairs before deciding on the best pair but she seemed to want to get us out as quickly as possible. I had to ask for a gait analysis and all I got was a 3d scan and when that was finished I told her I supinate and wanted to to try other shoes because my old brooks adrenaline gts are more for pronation. She just listened and said the guiderails help against both lateral and medial movement which is true but Brooks website recommends against adrenalines and suggests glycerin instead. I let her know what I read and I told her I had a wide foot. She went into the back and came back with brooks glycerin 22 gts in medium width not wide(d) and I when I tried them she said "oh sorry we didn't have wide". She only brought one shoe out, and I asked if she other similar wide shoes and again she brought one pair of asics that were too tight again . I asked if they had a wider shoes and other male employee said they did not carry any men's size shoes smaller than a 9 which I seriously doubted. Plus, I have wear a prescription custom Richie brace for arthritis and stability and no consideration was taken for my needs. She even had the audacity to tell me that tight shoes she provided was because I needed to break them in which I knew was a lie. They did not offer any other suggestions and I was made to feel as if they wanted me and my husband gone. We were treated horribly and we will not going back ever again. We drove over a hour to get to this store since we live in the high desert. We ended up driving back up to Palm desert and going to Lucky Feet to get better service and found a good shoe that accommodates my custom AFO and supination. read more

I've only been here to pick up my race packet for the Lopers Club Holiday Classic Half Marathon. The store is located near the Alabama St exit off of the 10 freeway. It was easy to find and there were plenty of parking spaces. They appear to be a nice little mom & pop type shop selling pretty much everything you would ever need for running. I would probably shop here if I lived closer to Redlands. However if ever in the future I find myself needing something right before the Lopers race, I'll most likely buy from them when I pick up my race packet. read more

Came into this store in Redlands. Did the gait test and Eddie, the man that helped me, showed me about my feet, etc. Very helpful and hopefully it will ease some of the pain on my left hip. But anyway, it was a perfect fit! He was not sure if they carry my size or they maybe out but fortunately he found the last one. Sold! Had an EXCELLENT experience here today. Came in with about 35 minutes left to closing time looking for some running shoes for my daughter. From the time we walked in the door until we left, the customer service was awesome. SEAN helped us and was so patient. He brought out multiple shoes and continued to do so even after she said she found one she liked. He had her try one more, just 1 more and then 1 more. And we are forever grateful because it was the end one that was the one that she actually ended up loving. Even though they were close to closing, never once did he rush us or make us feel like we needed to hurry up. He greeted us when we came in and was very thorough throughout the whole process. UPDATE to my 1-star review -- After I posted my review about the negative experience my son had at the store, a person from the leadership team, Susan, personally contacted me. Even though this wasn't her fault, she was genuinely sorry for everything that happened (and didn't happen). She also apologized on behalf of the entire company. Susan asked several follow-up questions to understand the whole situation and explained how the store was going to improve things. She added that while my son's experience was extremely atypical, that's no excuse. Given all the positive reviews that the store has, I believe she is correct that this was an anomaly. I own a small business myself, and I appreciate everything about the follow-up call and attention that I received. No business is perfect. Mistakes will happen. It's how you handle those mistakes that matters. I'm happy to say that Susan and Running Center as a whole responded perfectly. They were kind, took responsibility, genuinely sought ways to improve, and truly listened to my family's concerns. You can't ask for anything more from a small business. This was excellent. That's why I'm changing my review to 5 stars. Susan and Running Center deserve it because of the personal attention and genuine care they show for their customers. After a short visit with the staff, they observed my ankles turn in when I jog (pronate) By recommending a variety of shoes which contain stronger arch support to prevent this movement, my knee and gait issues are completely solved! I am so happy I could cry. I came here today, 9/5, and was really looking for something to help with my knee injury. I played volleyball competitively for years. A contestant in my life was going through shoes, knee pads, and socks. Years later my knees have developed calcium deposits and early-onset arthritis starting age 17. My left knee does not go a day without pain. It is the constant in my life that my knee will give out at age 27 if I don't move it a lot. I am beyond happy I came here. For the first time in 10 years I can move my left knee without pain. While looking online for running stores near me, I happened to discover a this gem not to far from where I live. Upon entering the store, I was warmly greeted by an employee. After looking at the clearance shoes area, I asked the employee if they had race bib clips available to purchase. The employee looked at merchandise on the shelves and responded no. She then asked if I minded if she went to the back to ask a co-worker about the race bib clips and I replied not at all. A short time later, she returned and replied that although the store recently had race bib clips, a manager at another store took the remaining clips to the other store location. After relaying this information to me, the employee then proceeded to look up other nearby running stores to see if they also had race bib clips but alas, they did not. This place carried the socks I wanted, the Injinji socks. I ended up buying quite a few of them. I also bought the goodr sunglasses since they carried them. However, I am not a runner but I hike.
