We shared everything we ordered. - The grilled corn tostada was cute and had a great crunch. - The smoked beet quesadilla was much larger than we expected and filling, but not very smoky at all. - The gnocchi was light and tender with tons of parmesan and the mushrooms added a great earthiness. - The lamb tagine was so tender and flavorful. It came with a delicious spicy red sauce on the side that went surprisingly well with the gnocchi, too. - We finished with the bread pudding which was tender and so comforting. I think it may have just been a cultural difference, but every time we asked the server what was good, or what he'd recommend; he'd shake his head and say, depends on what you like. That's true, but give us a clue of what your diners have loved. My friend ordered a mushroom sandwich that was spicy, and she doesn't do spicy. The menu did not describe it as having spice. She sent it back, and they brought her a new one without spice. She said it was good. I had the gambas. Came with slices of a baguette. Good flavor. The experience in whole was okay. Really enjoyed the food and ambiance at the Running Goose. My family came by on the hottest day of the year, otherwise we would have eaten at their patio in the back. Ordered the "Farm Vegetable" as a starter, a delicious and flavorful serving of carrots, boiled and pan seared in a wine sauce and chili flakes with aioli. VEGAN REVIEW Had dinner here before at the Pantages (east walk). There are not a ton of vegan options, but this place would prob be great for vegetarians (lots of cheese). Had the beet quinoa salad as my starter (hold the cheese) & vegan pesto vindaloo as my main. Both were ok, nothing to write home about. I recently tried the Running Goose and it was such a great experience. The vibe is super cozy and laid back, especially with the outdoor patio. It doesn't even feel like you're in the middle of Hollywood. The food was really good and felt fresh. You can tell they care about quality ingredients, and everything had a nice, balanced flavor. I especially liked how the menu has a mix of comfort food and slightly more unique dishes, so there's something for everyone. My review is more 4.5 stars but I'll round it up to five. My roast chicken was wonderful, the skin was roasted to perfection and the meat was nice and moist. The olive tapenade I don't think really blended with the rest of the flavors, wish I had just gotten more of the fingerling potatoes. My friend had the gnocchi which she said was one of the best she's had because it was a touch crispy. The outdoor patio was really beautiful and cozy, although there were some flies that were a little bothersome. The sangria also didn't have any fruit in it which was kind of disappointing. What a gerat place off Hollywood Blvd. I come to this part of town frequently on business and get tired of the loud street views of many of the restaurants. I was completed surprised when I walked int eh entrance and was let out to an outside garden eating area. the placement of plants and overhead shades transform the dining experience. The server was friendly, described all the dishes and provided excellent advice of menu selections. Our meals were great, the chicken, moist, potatos, flaky soft and carrots flavor transformed. This was our second visit to this establishment. I stumbled across it on Google Maps while I was trying to find the name of another restaurant in the area. I'm so glad I did. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly, and there are lower cost parking options than there are right around the Pantages. I think this is going to be one of our go-to spots for pre-theater dining from now on! For food: the farm vegetables (carrots) are phenomenal and I will get them every time, all of the tostadas and all were excellent, the smoked potatoes and the smoked beet quesadilla were huge surprises for me. I really don't care for smoked things and I usually am not a fan of beets, but these two dishes were lighter on the smoky flavors and the sauces that came with them were delightful. The majority of the restaurant is outdoors on a covered patio with plenty of seating. It was perfect for a warm summer evening, I will be interested to see how it goes as it gets colder/rainy. read more

I was THOROUGHLY impressed with this restaurant. The food was on point. If I had one suggestion, it is to add some cheese to the Mac and cheese. It wasn't as cheesy as I like it but the chicken...stop playin'! Forget Kentucky Fried and get to Cornbread! That chicken was all that! Also, the first thing I look at is how clean everything is inside and outside. There was no evidence of laziness in this place. It was spotless! To me, that always makes the food taste better. Lol. Running Goose is a unique spot with tasty food offerings that was in easy walking distance from the Pantages Theatre and most venues in the middle of Hollywood. We loved their upscale vegetarian Mexican-centric options including the Smoked Beet Quesadilla and the Corn and Carrot Tostadas. All three had great flavor and were presented nicely too. The Smoked Potatoes dish was pretty crave-worthy as well. Lots of smoked flavor on little potatoes. There are a handfull of other vegetarian options including a Tomato Tostado from the "firsts" menu, salads, and a couple of interesting looking mains like the Chèvre Gnochhi, and Vegan Pesto Vindaloo. We'd love to come back and try them all. The staff also seemed genuinely happy that we were there with big smiles and a general air of gratitude. This is a nice place, with good tasting and unique foods. Well worth checking out. P.S. We closed our meal with the Horchata Creme Brule which was a nice re-invention of that classic dessert. I picked Running Goose because it was close to somewhere I needed to be, but I feel like I got super lucky. Per my usual issue, I ordered way too much and was stuffed, but everything was good. I would say, if I went again I'd just get the carrots and the shrimp because LORD they were so good and also I could eat more of each of those dishes if I didn't have to save room for the tagine and the duck. I'm still so surprised by how quiet and nice the dining area was - just steps from Cahuenga and it feels like a world away. The team behind the counter was attentive and so thrilled to be sharing their food with everyone. If I lived nearby, I would come again and again. We went early and ordered a ton of food for two. Here's how it went: Arugula Tostada & Corn Tostada: I'm digging the tostada menu! Loved that they roasted the corn. Shrimp Gambas: This was my favorite, super tasty with LARGE shrimp. Salt Cod Churros: deep fried and savory. I think they could zhuzh this up with a more exciting sauce. Short Rib: tender and filling but I definitely needed more sauce in the bowl, I loved that it was served with corn tortilla chips. Lamb Tagine: I didn't love this as much as I thought I would. I. Love. Tapas! I wish my local Santa Barbara had more Tapas joints (or like, any?), but I'm lucky enough to be a short-ish drive up the 101 from LA where the options are plenty. Even luckier that a trip to the city found my friends and myself at Running Goose before a show at UCB. I'm mostly vegetarian/pescatarian, and it can be hard to find places with a variety of dishes for myself as well as my carnivore friends. We were able to order a largely sea and vegetable dinner that satisfied everyone in attendance. Calamari is hard to do, but these were perfectly fried and tender. There was a fried root vegetable (carrots maybe?) that were surprisingly delicious. I loved the quesadillas, so fresh! And the churros! I'd only had a savory churro one other time, but they are definitely a must-try if you see them on the menu. Honestly, we didn't have a single bad bite! I was looking for a good restaurant that was close to the Pantages Theater. I came across the Running Goose as a good option. It did not disappoint. While the entrance to the restaurant was a bit confusing, we were ushered back to a very nice patio area for dinner. The service was very prompt and the food was delicious. We had the baked brie with apricot compote and toast that was outstanding. My roasted 1/2 chicken with lemon sauce was so yummy it just melted in my mouth. Now to the carrots...I don't know what they do to them but they are fried but somehow come out tasting like sweet potatoes. They are hands down the best carrots I have ever had.
