My family and I LOVE this place. All of the food is fresh and well prepared. They have a great selection of items from salads, to burgers and sandwiches, this place is great. On Wednesday they have "family night" where kids eat free, they have bingo for gift cards, etc. The restrooms are clean as the int he res of the facility. The only downside to this place is that you always come out smelling like burgers. They cook the burgers outside on an open flame near the front door, and the restaurant can get smokey...no matter what you do you will come out of there smelling like the burger you just ate. All in all, this place is awesome. Build your own burger with many many items, prepared on an open flame grill, and enjoy. read more

Good, casual food. Recommend for lunch or when you want to watch sports in a not-overly-rowdy environment. I am quite addicted to the sweet potato fries here. The buffalo chicken pizza is also good...but beware, it is HOT. Fish tacos a good pick for lunch (fried fish in flour tortillas...pretty Americanized)...as well as the turkey avocado sandwich. Something about that avocado spread is magical. read more

Just what Hollister needs. Love the look, feel, and vibe right when you walk into the restaurant. The place usually fills up for lunch, so get there before noon. The staff is friendly and they put in the order right from a tablet. My favorite is the salmon salad. I have had it multiple times and it is cooked perfectly. The only down side is the price. It is a little pricey for lunch, but definitely a treat when I have it. read more

We love eating here in person but today we were tired so we ordered to be delivered. We were not so happy, first of all, we ordered a Large fry which was actually smaller than the small order in the restaurant. Second, one burger was ordered cheese only, all other ingredients on the side. It came w/carmelized onions, lettuce, and bacon on it. Cheese only means cheese, patty, bread. Don't mean to be picky but health issues involved. Not happy. read more

Just ordered 2 burgers and fries.....The meat was raw in the middle ...very disapointing....we felt taken advantage of during stay at home. I ordered on phone and when we went in they couldn't find out order. Shame on you guys. read more

This place is amazing! From the Guacamole and chips to the El Jefe Burger and Outlaw (Seasoned) fries with a refreshing drink! I am extremely satisfied and happy with the service we got from the staff and servers! Pricing wasn't an issue at all as I seen in other reviews. For the quality of food and quantity I can definitely say it's worth the price! Not much else to say besides place was extremely clean, open and spacious. I definitely will be back here again and to definitely try there beers on tap! read more

Had a great Beyond burger. Great chipotle mayo and good beer list. Wish fried or a side was included. Extra charge so plate comes to table so bare. read more

After riding at Hollister Hills, we stopped to try a burger at Running Rooster. That was several months ago and we're still visiting the place on the way home. I've tried many of their burgers from the Original Half Pounder to the El Jefe. Each was delicious. Your choice of fries comes with the burger too. Seasoned, Garlic or Regular. All are good. If you want to share, they have a reasonably priced sampler plate that will feed a group of folks. The service is a bit slow (not unreasonably) and I'm OK with it because I know my burger wasn't sitting around waiting for someone to order it. I like that they grill the meat too. Running Rooster is a great place to stop for a meal while in Hollister. read more

Best.Burger.Ever........so they say. Not so I say. Not that its bad but thats a pretty bold statement. If they said "..in Hollister" than I'll give em some slack. Like the place, would go back again and and order a burger. All around, Its a good order at the counter kind of joint. read more

Just want to add to the praise being appropriately heaped on Running Rooster. The food is delicious, the servers are extremely friendly, and the pricing is extremely fair. Go with the Outlaw Fries and a ketchup/mayo/bbq sauce mixture for a super-flavored gluttonous experience. read more

YUM! My go to place if I'm in the area. So much flavor but not overpowering. The garlic fries are amazing... Just like the ones you get at ATT park if not a liiittle bit better! It's on the pricey-er side but you definitely get what you pay for and will not be disappointed. read more

We come here often the guacamole is tasty! the staff is friendly. The decor is cute. They have plenty of beer on tap. Sometimes the food can have a gas taste from the indoor fire grill. The only thing my friends and I always say is lacking from the menu is a turkey burger. If they had one I would go more often. so would my friends read more

Being new to the area I stumbled upon this little nugget of goodness. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and each time has been consistent. Great food, good staff. The burgers were cooked just the way we like it. My drink glass never got more then 1/2 empty. It was great. The only negative thing I have to say is the noisy kids, but that's not the restaurants fault. Please parents don't let your kids run amuck when other people are eating. It's just rude. read more

I absolutely love Running Rooster. They always have Games on the Tv's, perfect for sitting at the Bar. The Burgers and Garlic Fries are phenomenal. My favorite part about this place is that they serve Derose Zinfandel (Local Hollister Wine) on tap! Great service everytime. Highly recommended. read more

Service was top notch & food was fantastic! Good atmosphere, clean, good parking, great for kids. Will definitely come back read more

Food was great and cooked perfectly. I had a basic cheeseburger and my better half got the 1/2 chicken. While I would have been completely satisfied with my meal, I snuck a few bites of my girlfriends dinner and I wish I would have ordered what she got. She scored. Place was clean, not too noisy, and our server was attentive, accurate, and friendly. If I am ever in Hollister, I will definitely come back. read more

The food was great. We had the rotisserie chicken and even the vegetable were taster. The mashed potatoes could of had more flavor. The waitress did rush us quite a bit. She back within two minutes asking for our order and we hasn't even opened the menus yet. She coming back every two minutes asking for our order. Nice crowd and definitely the nicest place in town. read more

I've enjoyed running rooster for many years. I'm just tired of showing up 15-20 minutes before closing and the doors are locked. The latest occurrence was either Wednesday 2/18 or Thursday 2/19 evening. We walked up to the door between the new bar (we love the new bar!) and the restaurant at 8:15. Multiple staff members in the restaurant saw us, stared at us, and watched us walk away. Thank you for looking into this. read more

Always have friendly staff and is a good spot if you have kids. The food here is good if you're looking for a basic sit down restaurant. They always have a nice selection of beers on tap and occasionally have the seasonal beers on tap as well. This will definitely be a goto spot for me being a Hollister local. read more

This place had some of the best customer service I have ever received. The food was excellent. Worth the drive from Gilroy. We will be coming back here for sure, if you want great food with even better service stop by here and check it out!! read more

Decent place! Nice pizzas in a wood hoven. The service may be better, more natural and proactive maybe. We were visiting and asked what will be the specialty, the dish we should try and the waitress said everything. Really? I recommend that place for the food. It was a bit too noisy because of the music bring too loud read more

Love the burgers. My favorite is ordering the teriyaki salmon sandwiches on ciabatta bread! Love their chocolate Milk chocolates too. Happy to see this place going strong, I worked there for Sometime while I was young in high school (7 years ago) and they too were still establishing themselves but now they are doing very well and have revamped and established themselves as the best Place to eat in town! read more

We tried this place again. Not too happy with the quality of food. Not a very large selection and the food is bland. We sat in the kids section and there were flies everywhere. I must have killed 10 flies while sitting. Even though they claim to have lowered their prices, you don't get fries with your order, so it's basically the same, but poor quality. read more

Everything we've had here has been amazing. Usually get the barbecue chicken pizza and it's always tasted fresh and delicious. Recently tried their homemade chips and guacamole and it was super flavorful. One of the best restaurants in town. read more

Love the food and the service! You won't be disappointed, everything is delicious. The only reason why I give it four stars is because it is rather pricey for the food. Granted, they probably use fresher and wholesome ingredients, but it's just a little much for burgers. With that said, we love it and will continue to shell out the cash :) in an isolated place like Hollister finding good food is awesome! read more

Love love love their food! Bf and I went today for dinner and as always we're coming back... Amy was great! Got our food and munched it down To bad we didn't have enough space in our belly's for dessert Had a great night overall... the only thing that I'd say would need fix is when we were done they didn't take the plates away fast enough and it took like 20 after we were done for us to get the check... I understand you ha e more customers but that's the only thing I would say needs some improving. read more

3rd Major let down after what used to be the best burger in Hollister! We used to love their BIG and juicy burgers with a side of fries...it's all different there now... My wife and I are saddened to see the prices go up, portions and quality have gone way down too 3 strikes you're out! No more fries included with your burger order...expect to pay around 12 dollars for a burger and then u have to order sides separately! Plan to spend a ton for your meal...AND have to say their Buns were honestly COLD and not heated in anyway..both of our burgers were unacceptable and we had to ask for our money back...they were nice enough to let us go without having to pay but gosh what a major letdown! Beers are great there good variety but no more food for us... read more

Lunch today! Great chicken, apple, walnut salad, except my daughter's had to be sent back because there was no chicken. Fixed! Other daughter had a delicious turkey club, and our auntie's chicken sliders looked wonderful! Our waiter, not into it! We had to ask to have beverages refilled, and he was almost put off that he had to add the chicken to the salad. We realize it was not his fault, but not ours either. Food was great! read more

We recently moved to Hollister and had some family over visiting us, we have been passing this place for awhile and decided to give it a shot. It was so amazing all of us were very pleased in the food it was all so delicious, and the service was outstanding. Our server was super funny and she made our visit that much more pleasing. They have a little play area for the little ones to keep entertained while you wait for your food, and or eat and they are in hands reach of you the whole time. This was even better because we had three little ones with us, so we were able to have a stress free visit together while enjoying a great meal. I highly suggest this spot if you are passing through our little town they for sure have a return customer out of us read more

My family and I arrived at the Running Rooster on a Thursday evening. We were promptly greeted and directed to the kid/family dining area (such a great idea- more places should offer this to keep kids entertained). The menu is a bit small and didn't offer that much of a variety but they made up for it with the beer & cocktail menu- there is a lot to choose from. The food prices were high for a local restaurant in Hollister that seemed to have more pizza and burger options than anything else. Thankfully, though, our server was kind, attentive to our needs and offered suggestions. I ordered the half chicken meal, my spouse the El Jefe burger and our 4 year old Godson the kids Mac & Cheese. I'll break this down simply: -The chicken was flavorful but extremely dry, as if it was sitting under a heat lamp all day. It was served with a side of broccoli and what tasted like instant mashed potatoes. -The El Jefe burger was tasty (the bacon and peppers were the shining star on this dish) but unfortunately that's all there was- just a burger, no sides, no fries. Apparently fries are al a carte. -The kid's Mac & Cheese was a huge disappointment. This not only incredibly boring looking and bland tasting (I can bet it was the boxed instant type) but it was far too hot for a child to eat. I noticed our Godson wasn't eating his food and when I asked why, he said it was too hot. I scooped a spoonful out of the worn out 1980's dinosaur bowl they served it in and saw steam coming from just under the top layer! I understand restaurants frequently microwave items but this overheating can be dangerous to younger patrons. And for those of you saying that it may have been a fluke, it wasn't- the table next to us ordered the mac & cheese and encountered the exact same problem. Am I happy Hollister has somewhere other than Jerry's or a pizza place to eat at? Yes. Would I come here again? Probably not. read more

Everything was absolutely amazing, margarita pizza was the best I've ever had, steak and queso starter was out of this world, great service

This used to be our favorite place for wings , burgers, and pizza ! I think as they have gotten more popular they have settled for cheaper ingredients and very much gone down hill in quality . We went last night , had been craving their wings ! Well, our table was a wobbly wonky mess, they were out of ice for the first half of our dinner, the pizza came out sorta hot but tasted like a bad cafeteria pizza ! The calamari was soggy and limp, the wings were still delicious and the servers and hostesses were very nice and on top of their jobs ! The food however , very blah won't be going back. read more

Stopped by for a late lunch after hiking Pinnacles. We ordered a custom pizza and burger with garlic fries along with craft beer. All the ingredients tasted fresh and everything was so delicious! Our server Amy was friendly and attentive, making sure we had whatever we needed. We didn't think it was overpriced, especially for the quality of the food and beer! Worth every penny, definitely recommend!! read more
