I abhor restaurants that rely on staple meal choices, forgetting that people need variety from the ho hum they make at home ( or can make at home- like Wood and Tap. Boo.). I love a place like this where you can look at the menu and see at least two or three things that make you think "WOW, what will I choose?". The restaurant is very bright with many high top tables. It would have felt conspicuously weird to take photos in the full-capacity situation we were in. There's also a gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing Christmas music. Nicely done, with a professional voice and playing style. I would say, the only downside was that there didn't seem to be a consistency of how people were waiting on tables, so simple things like a set of silverware missed at our table, and then somebody brought a set and didn't bring napkins. Then one of us received the completely wrong meal and we had a delay in getting it corrected while we were already on a tight schedule with the other flubs to make the show on time. This time I got the braised pork and polenta and this one is on me because I don't usually like braised pork or polenta too much but it sounded interesting and I wanted to try it. The "cafe" in the name is misleading. We were quickly seated and I looked around at the place. We ordered a pizza and loaded tator tots and some drinks, which were all bottled including the water due to public water contamination. Plenty of cheese and toppings to go around. Strangely, they had ground beef on many of their pizzas but not sausage. Maybe the town likes it better? The tator tots came out with canned cheese sauce, dallops of sour cream, and bacon bits. They were okay, but weren't really crunchy from the frier. Some people prefer them that way too, so I guess I can't complain too much. Prices seemed a bit high for the area.
