I went recently to try some of the World famous wings. I remember them being much larger than they are now. The service is also very slow because the exterior seating is way larger than the interior seating they used to have. Solution? Only use half of the exterior tables, make the food better and the service faster... i'm sure it's hard to find staff in these difficult times and they need to make money but the food needs to be good or the customers won't come. read more

Place is awesome. Great drive out here very scenic. Went hiking in Armstrong woods and found this on the way home. DOG FRIENDLY!!! That's always a plus for us. Isn't the most fancy joint but it's clean and well maintained for a bar. Pool table inside gunna try their famous wings. I'll let you know how they are. Update. Wings were great. I got the spicy buffalo. Not the best I've ever had but I was very pleased and would order them again. We got 4 pints and an order of 10 wings for a bill of 30. This review is for two things: Location and GARLIC FRIES. Right between Hilton Campground and River Bend campground. We ordered garlic fries from here and they were the best I've ever had. They are skinny thin fries with tons of garlic and parsley heaped upon it. If you are camping at either campground, you must stop here. It has also been on the show "Diners, Dive, and Drive Ins" on the Food Network. I can't wait to have some beer and try this place out again. read more

LOVED. We love watching DD&D and happened to see this episode the same week we were going to be in Santa Rosa for an appt. Anyway My kids thought it was really special to try the place that was on the very first episode. It did not disappoint. I was planning to order the prime rib sandwich but saw the tri trip with blue cheese and horseradish and HAD to order that instead. You must like those 2 flavors but if you are a fan it is amazing! Very tender and flavorful. We also tried the clam chowder and it was really flavorful and very chunky. You could taste the beer in the onion rings and they were perfect with ranch. Delish. One of my favorites for a nice drive along the river in the redwoods and a great place to stop in for lunch. Nothing fancy, just a warm bar with fantastic lunches. You can't miss with the small house salad with blue cheese. It's darn near a meal in itself. Perfect flavors. Went with the grilled chicken breast and bacon with aeoli dressing today. Perfect flavors smoking fresh off grill, be careful it'll still be hot. My wife loved her prime rib french dip on a sourdough roll. Excellent sauce and meat flavors blending together as they're meant to. The Bloody Mary's are spot on, could have had a dash more horse radish, but excellent flavors. The menu is full of wonderful surprises and you won't leave hungry or disappointed. Fun little spot the still deserves it's recognition as a Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives local favorite Stop by relax in the redwoods and enjoy the food and drinks! read more

Came in for a late lunch after kayaking for a few hours with a friend. Started off with a 12oz supplication from russian river brewery which is an aged sour. Shared jalapeño poppers which are made fresh and had the veggie sandwich with a side of macaroni salad. Very good experience today. Our plates took a while longer then usual (which is understandable for a busy day). They felt bad that we had to wait for our meal so we ended up having lunch on the house! My family and I ate here for lunch and the food is incredibly delicious. Best buffalo chicken wings ever! Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside with the right amount of spice in the buffalo sauce; Absolutely perfect! Plus the service was great and tentative. They also have a great outdoor patio seating with a sheet of paper on the table with crayons/colored markers where you can draw on the table while you are waiting for food. Felt like a kid again. I went to dinner here on Saturday night with several girlfriends and my 1-year old daughter. I had the Pesto Chicken Sandwich and it was very good. Food on the whole was better than what you would expect for pub food. The waffle fries are GREAT! Our server was very friendly and accomodating, and we didn't wait long for our food. .. We stopped here because somebody recommended it because she thought they may be selling Pliny the Younger. We saw they had Pliny the Elder, but we asked the server if they had Pliny the Younger. She said no we said we'd take two Elders, but she said they have Big Chicken. We hadn't seen it on the menu and we like Hen House Brewery so we each got one. They brought us 10oz pours. When we got the bill we saw that they charged us $15 per 10oz beer. That is outrageous, we could have gotten 2 16oz pours of Pliny the Elder for $16. When we mentioned the cost to the server she said it would have been the same for the Pliny the Younger, the problem is Younger is a triple IPA and this is a double IPA, just like Elder. If your going to charge that much your servers should let the customer know. I don't think I've ever been so outraged by something that could have been communicated from the start! read more

We saw this place on Triple D and since we were going to be in the neighborhood we thought we would give it a try...we are all glad we did! I had their Famous Pub Burger which came with sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and cheddar cheese (I can't have cheese, so I had no cheese), I added BBQ sauce, and also it was topped with of course lettuce, amazingly fresh tomatoes, pickles, and red onions. It came with either fries or if you wanted to be healthy you can have a salad, or you could substitute your fries for curly fries for an additional fee, I had their regular fries. I knew just from looking at it that it was going to be a good burger, and although I ordered mine medium rare and it came out medium, it was still dripping juice and tasty! The fries where golden crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the kind of fries I want to accompany a great juicy burger! All of my friends I went with enjoyed their meals as well - we all ordered the Turkey Burger, the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, and the Russian River Breakfast w/ Bacon. Yes, we all agree we have all had "better" burgers, pulled pork, or breakfasts, but would this place be a place we would drive back for, ABSOLUTELY! For someone who professes not to be a big BBQ eater...I sure do go to a lot of BBQ places! As a non-BBQ fanboy, I didn't really notice anything exceptional about the food -- I think I just had chili cheese fries or something. But I was with a big group, and the others in my group had ribs and other BBQ stuff...and everyone was happy. What I personally liked was the ambiance -- tons of outdoor seating in the beautiful forest near the river. The inside looked even cooler, though -- classic wood-paneled old-school tiny BBQ bar vibe. I'll have to come by sometime in winter, and sit inside....and have some BBQ! read more

For husband's birthday, we did a family outing and had dinner here last night - best choice! Ask for the horsey sauce when you order the killer prime rib sandwich that comes with a fresh, soft bun - husband ate every bite. I had the buffalo and bleu chicken sandwich that was grilled well and the cheese crumble was just salty enough to balance the spicy of the buffalo sauce. Our little one had the chicken tenders with real meat which we appreciate over the nuggets other places serve. We didn't realize we could bring our fluffy friend so he stayed behind but doggies are welcome in the spacious patio. Husband had a beer from their diverse selection and I had the gin martini with the house gin and it was delicious. All the staff were wearing masks, super friendly, and attentive. PS the morning after as we were leaving town, the little one had to go potty and staff graciously let us use their bathroom! A real family friendly place. Thank you! read more

I love this little dive bar! The food is delicious and you get to stare at hippies. what more can you ask for? The Prime Rib sandwich, burgers and onion rings were all very good. I've been here many times and used to be a fan, but after this last visit I think I'll find somewhere else for a bite and a cold one. Their Chicken Wings were always a 'given' for me, but the last couple of times I found then overcooked and tasteless except for the sauce. I'm sure Guy Fieri would not approve of these leather like, chewy, juice-less morsels. We asked for a Caesar Salad w/ the wings and was asked if we wanted an extra plate, to which we agreed. It wasn't anything more than romaine lettuce and some bottled dressing w/ a few tasteless croutons and a sprinkling of some plastic like pre-shredded cheese. The waitress went ahead and divided it on two plates and added $1.50 for her effort (which we didn't catch until after we had figured in her tip). All-in-all a pretty boring lunch. read more

Worst customer experience of all times. Came in with a group of 6. Put our order in and it took quite some time but not too bad. Everyone's food came out except for mine. So waited a little longer and eventually asked where my food is. They checked and came back saying my order was not put in. Alright fine, happens. Server says she can put the order in now. I ask how long it will take and she says 45!!!! Minutes. This was for a burger btw. Every place where I have eaten before and there was an issue with the food, they would prioritize that order (obviously) and get it out within minutes. Not here! So I said I'll just share the meal with my friends. There was no offer of providing anything else. My friends finished their meal and another server came over to clear the table. My friend addressed me not getting a meal and that something should be offered. She offered to place the order for my burger and get it out shortly. Well, why wasn't this offered in the first place? At that point I said don't bother. She eventually agreed to give me a beer on the house, but got super pissed at us for asking for something and said our entire bill will be comped and rushed off. We didn't even ask for that but fine. Who reacts like that especially working in the hospitality industry. Never experienced this before. Eventually our server came over and apologized and said she felt sorry for the other server... haha ok.... aaaand now, she presents us the bill which is fine as we weren't expecting them to comp all meals, BUT she said she went ahead and took off the gratuity for us. Hahaha!! Really? So that's your gesture. That you don't include gratuity?? Wow! Thank you! It shouldn't be included to begin with and obviously we wouldn't have paid a gratuity. I love dive bars but this place is under horrible management apparently and the customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. The food is also pretty bad. Horrible fries! This place proudly proclaims they have been featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on their menu. I can confirm they are the latter of the 3. When we entered the front door, we were told to have a seat anywhere. We sat on the patio along with a couple of other parties... (Not some far corner where they didn't see us!) After 20 minutes and 3 staff members passed us up, we finally started to get up to leave. Then one of the women working stopped us and asked if we were ready to order. She then immediately told us someone else would be with us shortly. My girlfriend politely asked if we could see the menu. Another 5 minutes pass and she returned with the next tables tea and no menus. Another trip later and she finally brought our menus. A second waitress randomly asked if we would like some water. Yes please! we both responded and she said she would be right back. Both staff members then disappeared. My girlfriend and I sat and we both looked over the menu about 6 times and waited another 15 minutes for water while more of the staff passed us by like ghosts. That's the end of the story... we waited 30+ minutes for waters that never arrived because we finally left. On the plus side, we found a fantastic place right up the road called *** THE FARMHAND DELI *** Skip the Russian River Pub and head on into Guerneville and try them out. Two of us had the crabcake sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. There were five in our party and we all enjoyed the food and the mellow atmosphere. We stayed at the River Bend RV Park for two nights and enjoyed the Pub both nights for dinner and beer. The staff were super friendly and provided excellent service. We especially liked the dog friendly atmosphere. They immediately brought water for the dog and shared that burger or chicken patties were available on the menu for the pooch. The food was very tasty, I enjoyed the pulled pork sliders and spicy wings. Wife had the burger and fish and chips. Large selection of beers and a cool outdoor setting. Highly recommended. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by this place as we were out of town for the weekend. I wanted to try it since I saw it was on an episode of DD&D. When we got there it was posted and repeated when we ordered food that the wait time for food was an hour. Not what we wanted to hear as we were starving but we went with it. I should have known then to find someplace else. The only reason this place is getting 3 stars from me is because the outside seating is really cute and our server was super nice. We got an order of teriyaki wings and we both got sandwiches. Boyfriend got the prime rib dip and I got the tri-tip. There was way too much teriyaki sauce on the wings, I think they did that to try and hide how dry the wings were. The sandwiches were okay, but nothing that seemed DD&D worthy. Let me also add for the amount of staff working and customers there I have no idea why the food took an hour. Not sure if we just hit the place on an off night but we won't be going back. read more

Used to say this place is 5star. Since the shut downs, the quality of food and service has taken a big nose dive. Long waits. Cold food. Less than polite staff from time to time. I miss the old days with the old staff and pool table inside.
