We were looking for a coffee table several weeks ago and were disappointed with what we found in the typical furniture stores. I wanted something more unique and rustic. I loved what I found in a design district but prices were way over what we were prepared to spend. While home I googled rustic furniture and found Rustic Home in San Marcos. We were not prepared to be as impressed as we ended up being but I credit the owner, Ash, for how welcoming he was from the beginning and how he asked the right questions to find out what we were looking for in a piece. I loved the live edge dining tables I saw in the store and was really impressed with the craftsmanship of his pieces throughout the store. When he showed us a piece of raw wood about the size of what we wanted for our table we were sold on the idea of a custom piece. Though the quote for the work and final piece was above what we were originally thinking we'd spend, it was way less than what I found in the design district. The finished piece was beautifully crafted and carefully delivered to our home. We are eclectic with our furniture and have pieces from different eras as well as family heirlooms. The gentleman who delivered the piece commented how well it appeared to tie in with the different colorations in the rooms. Amazing place!! I called everywhere for a dining room table to fit my breakfast nook . I couldn't find anything and accepted that I needed to make it custom made. I was terrified at the thought, I just imagined a place would charge lots of money for what I needed and not be able to carry out what I envisioned . Luckily I had the pleasure of finding Ash. He was so warm and kind and invited us to his shop where he was able to give me a tour of his facility . I felt very confident with his expertise and was relieved that the price was so reasonable !!! We came to rustic home looking for a very specific piece, something rustic looking, wide and short to go in between a chaise and a couch in our dining room area. When we walked in, I was immediately drawn to this tall nicho style shelf which was made out a canoe, I had to have it. My boyfriend found a piece that looked perfect for our spot in between the chaise and sofa but the measurements were not going to work. Ash was great, he told us to give him the dimensions we were looking for and he could replicate what we liked but in a size that would be perfect for our space. He didn't disappoint, we loved the custom piece even more than the original piece that caught our eye and we got my canoe piece also! I recently took delivery of two furniture items that Ash custom-made for me and, boy, am I happy! My wants were very specific. I had done considerable searching on-line for a square coffee table and also visited several furniture showrooms that dealt with mutiple vendors. I learned about Rustic Home while looking in the San Marcos stores on Furniture Row. In fact, a salesperson at Woodbridge Interiors recommended Ash to me when I told her what I was looking for. I am so happy that I chose to take a look. Ash was a delight to work with. He gave me personal attention and it was clear he wanted me to be a satisfied customer. I had photographs and drawings of what I wanted which helped the process along. Not only did I get the look I wanted, I also got superior quality and workmanship.... at a great price. I love that the furniture is solid wood (Alder) and that I got to choose the finish and hardware. Besides a coffee table, I also wanted to replace the pedestal sink in my small powder room with a cabinet. I asked Ash if he could make me a vanity. I liked the look of one I had seen one on-line but it was pricey and did not include the vanity top. It was also made of MDF and oak veneers. Ash and I discussed my options. I gave him specific design specs and, rather than going with a traditional quartz or granite top, Ash suggested using Ironwood, a natural wood that is nearly indestructible and popularly used for outdoor furniture. I really liked the idea so I purchased a Kohler drop-in sink, took it to Ash, and he cut the top to fit. I am extremely pleased with my new purchases. read more
