A cute bakery in league city downtown area. Small place but has a few tables and some outside seating, if its nice outside. We walked in to 3 specials on a board, which we decided sounded good. So we ordered the cowboy toast with red sauce and the chicken avocado quesadillas. We also ordered a slice of white chocolate raspberry cake, a sprinkle cookie, and a cappuccino. The girls were very nice and were happy to take our order. The cowboy toast came with two slices that were buttered and toasted well with an inside circle cutout and a perfectly cooked egg in the middle. The red sauce had a good flavor and it also came with two slices of bacon. The Chicken quesadilla was flavorful and crispy. The cappuccino was the same quality or better than Starbucks and was great! We were staying at a hotel near by for the weekend and saw this place pop up on a search for good breakfast, so we decided to give this place a try. The location is in a great location and has a homie welcoming vibe to it. The lady at the entrance was extremely nice and was helpful with our questions. We ordered some items to go as the family was getting ready for the weekend. I ordered a French toast sandwich and a breakfast plate. My wife said the eggs were amazing and the sausage was good. The French toast sandwich was decent, a little dry to be honest. My biggest critique is the pancakes....my goodness these were not it for us unfortunately. I like this little restaurant. Very nice and quaint. I like that I can come here, have a nice lunch and also get some computer work done. The Bakery part looks incredible and smells delicious. According to the menu on their website, they have dozens of gluten-free items, but when I visited, they only had one item (which by the way was not marked gluten-free in the glass case.) I was told that they used to have one other gluten-free baked item, but they do not make it anymore. The employee did tell me that gluten-free cakes could be ordered. The gluten-free item I bought is called Chocolate Silk. I was told that there was cake underneath, but it appears to be a very dense, wet/moist almond flour concoction. Not sure what to make of it as I have never eaten anything similar, but my opinion is that it was not tasty. The squiggly designs on top were pretty and soft, but did not taste like they were made of the finest ingredients. That said, the bottom is not very sweet, but the top squiggly cream is sweet, which complements the bottom and makes for a not overly sweet treat, which is difficult to find. If someone trying to avoid wheat and considering purchasing this "Chocolate Silk", I would double check with the employees to make sure that it is gluten-free as I did not feel well after eating two small bites. read more

Regarding the food... I ordered the chicken fajita tacos that are supposed to come with a side salad. When I got my food, not were they "out of spring mix" but they were also out of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. The most bare and sad tacos I've ever seen in my life. They just seemed to be out of everything; tried ordering the orchards berry smoothie and they were apparently out of blueberries too. Poor service. Woman who took our order tried telling me that the tacos did not come with a salad when it clearly says so on the menu (still did not get the salad). She seemed aggravated that we were there. Also, our order total was no more than $34, and we made sure to leave no tip (which we normally don't do). After we were charged, I checked my balance and I had been charged $41 -- the difference being exactly 20% of my total. I don't want to say she gave herself a 20% tip, but she could not seem to provide an adequate explanation for the $7 difference. Would not come here again. read more

Rustika Cafe and Bakery is a quaint little restaurant and bakery snuggled up under the lines of oak trees on Main St. in old town League City. My wife had heard about it and convinced me to give it a try. The short review is that it was very good and I'll definitely be back. The long? Well, you'll have to keep reading. The front side of the restaurant faces main street underneath the oak trees in old town League City. All of the parking for the restaurant is located behind it. It is a very unassuming façade and could easily be missed as you drive down Main Street. Due to the parking, the main entrance for the restaurant is located in the back. When you walk in, walk up to the counter, scan the QR code to read the menu, and place your order at the counter. They open early so we were here for breakfast. I will say their breakfast was absolutely delicious. My wife and I ordered two different variations of breakfasts that included eggs. I ordered the BP omelette (also called The Oil Spill). It is a scrambled omelette topped with hash browns and smothered in a brownish molé sauce. My beautiful wife ordered the Migas Española. For those who don't know, migas is a traditional breakfast dish consisting of corn tortilla strips fried on a pan or griddle until almost crispy, to which eggs are then added to create a scrambled egg/fried tortilla mixture. It is served with their picante sauce on the side which was also delicious. I tried both. The molé sauce on the BP made the dish slightly sweet. The migas was more traditional. Between the two, I liked hers better but both were VERY good. As far as the bakery goes, they sell a wide variety of different types of desserts. You can special order entire cakes, or walk in the door and order a cake that is behind the counter and ready to go. They have 6 inch, 8 inch, and 10 inch cakes. If you want a slice of cake to go you can do that also. They will only cut slices of cake from the 10 inch cakes that are under the glass. If you want a 6 inch or 8 inch cake, you must buy the whole thing. We purchased a piece of the raspberry white chocolate cake to take home and had it later in the evening. The flavor of the cake was very good. However, we found that the cake was not as moist as we were expecting it to be. My wife is an excellent baker and we have come to expect certain things in the way our cake tastes. This specific piece of cake missed the mark ever so slightly. The flavor was still very good. We also ordered a cinnamon cookie which also seemed a little bit on the dry side. Had I only come into this restaurant for dessert, I would not be giving them five stars. They are also open for lunch. We did not try anything off the lunch menu but I encourage you to look at it. Some of it sounds really delicious. An added bonus of this restaurant is that they have two private rooms in the back of the dining area. One will hold 15 people, and the other will hold 20 people. They can also be joined together if you have a large group that will hold 35 people as they're connected with the barn door in the middle. They do have minimum requirements for expenditures in order to use those rooms. However, as long as your group orders food, the expenditures are low enough that you should not have any problem meeting the minimum. Therefore, you can use the room for "free" if your group orders enough food. The thing I love about these rooms and this restaurant is the fact that you can order at the counter and then they will bring your food to you. That is perfect when you have a larger group that is trying to meet in a private room. It makes splitting the check much easier since each person can pay for their own individual food at the counter. There are no worries about multiple checks coming to the same table. Bottom line - A really good café located in the heart of League City. The food from the café is fabulous. The food from the bakery that we partook of was good but not great. We will definitely be back. I would give them 4.5 stars in all but must round up to five because I don't think four is fair. So enjoyed this cozy little spot the last time I was visiting League City that I wanted to go again. This Thursday morning at 8:30 am was a little disappointing. We got to the counter to order and were informed that the cook had not arrived for the morning which suddenly made sense that the parking lot was deserted. Last time this place was buzy. The gal at the counter was only able to get us pastries and coffee. My group ended up with a chicken empanada, a couple of cinnamon rolls and vanilla lattes. The empanada was warmed up but not great and the cinnamon rolls good but not great. We sat and had our lattes with the counter items. The place didn't give off any friendly vibes when the cook arrived. As we sat in the place I kept noticing an unpleasant order. Think this will be my last visit. read more

This unassuming, hidden gem that is nestled amongst the oaks in the heart of League City, is an excellent place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whether with your loved ones, friends or business associates. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad with the house dressing - so fresh, tasty, and filling! The house dressing is a vinaigrette with a nice little kick that pleases the palate! A couple of days ago, I met a colleague here and tried a slice of the raspberry creme cake with a cafe latte. I'm not sorry to report that I ate the entire slice, without regard to taking half home to share with my husband. They have an extensive menu, including breakfast all day, and goodies galore including cheesecake, empanadas, brownies, muffins & cookies. I'm actually getting hungry writing this review! Cute location, lovely bookstore next door, a quaint park across the street...but there are a number of signs that show a lack of management skills: the man who took my order (whom I later assumed was the manager) smelled like cigarettes. Mr. Cigarettes, whom I initially thought was a guest by his curt behavior, did nothing to welcome me or my friend, but he did take a moment to reprimand an employee in front of customers. Bad form. The decor needs a serious deep cleaning and, dare I say, a little updating?? The patio could be such a bonus, but is left looking like an unkept yard. Now for a couple of positives. I have recently enjoyed a very well made vanilla latte and a freshly made chocolate chip cookie. Overall, this location has potential, but needs a serious change in management practices. P.S. There are too many places to go than waste your money here. Staff was kinda, the food was seriously the problem. From coffee (no taste), dried hard eggs, to the crepes with no flavor. Chilaquiles were fried tortilla chips and green Sauce with no cheese! Let me repeat that, "no cheese!" Dessert, slice of cake...too old and tasted like refrigerator. I gave it one star for great parking available located behind the caffe and nice staff. Perhaps we were given one of the display Birthday Cakes instead of a real one? Regardless, we spent $85.00 on what was intended to be a chocolate BIRTHDAY cake, with white buttercream icing and yellow flowers. It was picked up on February 7, 2024 for my birthday the next day. On inspection when we arrived the cake looked very pretty UNTIL the next day when we went to eat it. All I can honestly state is the chocolate cake was very oily (you read that right -OILY) with a taste that was similar to Crisco's shortening. The icing was NOT buttercream but rather a blend of Crisco shortening and Dream Whip. In totalality it was not edible at all! To make sure our taste buds were functioning correctly we had our neighbors and three different friends eat a piece and ALL of them had to spit it out onto the paper towel after the first bite. I decided to order my birthday cake from this bakery, and it was an AWESOME choice. It has better prices than any other bakery/grocery store in the area. The customer service was wonderful, and this cake had more flavor than any other place we've ordered from. (It wasn't the typical dense, dry sponge with overly-sweet icing like what most bakeries have. My cake's icing taste/texture was like real whipped cream.) My fiancé tried their beef empanada and the bacon and egg one. The salsa that comes with it was really good and paired perfectly with both empanadas. Highly recommend the cookies and empanadas! Both plates came out with very well done eggs with visibly fully cooked yolks. and food cold. The pancakes were dry and slightly burned. Pros: I really wanted to like this place. It's a cute/quaint place, the staff was pretty friendly, and the part of the meals I did actually receive was decent, but nothing special. Cons: The tables are pretty grimy and unclean feeling. My experience was that the menu sounded interesting, but was poorly executed. I ordered the mushroom tacos and vegetable matzo ball soup... The tacos said it came with a side salad and did NOT. The soup said it had chicken, vegetables, and egg noodles and did NOT have any of those except a few random broccoli "leaf" pieces floating around. When I asked, I was told "that's the way they come now, sorry". I just felt like I did not really get what I had ordered and paid for. Apparently, there was no manager there at that time (I would have preferred to give the restaurant a chance to learn of the issues to address directly, rather than through a negative review online). Also, the 2 young girls at the front where you order, though friendly, seemed pretty clueless about the menu/in general and when one of them brought my steaming hot soup, she unsteadily set it down right next to my 15 month old baby in a high chair and sloshed some on the table and floor RIGHT next to her. Giving two stars is a stretch. I've had multiple people tell me that this place is a great breakfast place. Maybe today was an off day- but wow. I ordered their French toast. The toast was soggy. The maple syrup was served in a smuckers container... no butter. The butter they did have was cold and the toast wasn't even warm enough to melt it. The dulce de leche coffee was not good at all- spent $5.95 on it just to only take a few sips and left it. Ordered a side of bacon and it was WAY too crispy. To the point that if you touched it, it broke into small pieces. Their floor was disgusting. The tile needs to be steam cleaned terribly. Their watch your step on the floor where also blackened. The vents on the ceiling were covered in dust. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars was because 1 the lady who took our order was extremely nice. I walked in to this new cafe to grab a dulce de leche latte and a slice of cake but I was surprised to see it is a cafe, bakery, and restaurant in one. They had full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu from omelettes, tacos, crepes, french toast, pastas, to steaks.And the inside was super cute and the staff were very friendly.
